Recently Lewis Bowen introduced a notion of entropy for measure-preserving actions of countable sofic groups admitting a generating measurable partition with finite entropy; and then David Kerr and Hanfeng Li developed an operator-algebraic approach to actions of countable sofic groups not only on a standard probability space but also on a compact metric space, and established the global variational principle concerning measure-theoretic and topological entropy in this sofic context. By localizing these two kinds of entropy, in this paper we prove a local version of the global variational principle for any finite open cover of the space, and show that these local measure-theoretic and topological entropies coincide with their classical counterparts when the acting group is an infinite amenable group.  相似文献

We introduce a concept of measure-theoretic entropy for flows and study its invariance under measure-theoretic equivalences. Invariance properties of the corresponding topological entropy is studied too. In this paper, we give some definitions of the topological tail pressures for sub-additive potentials and prove that they are equivalent if the potentials are continuous. Under some assumptions, we get a variational principle which exhibits the relationship between topological tail pressure and measure-theoretic tail entropy. Finally, we define a new measure-theoretic tail pressure for sub-additive potentials and some interesting properties of it are obtained.  相似文献

We investigate algebraic -actions of entropy rank one, namely those for which each element has finite entropy. Such actions can be completely described in terms of diagonal actions on products of local fields using standard adelic machinery. This leads to numerous alternative characterizations of entropy rank one, both geometric and algebraic. We then compute the measure entropy of a class of skew products, where the fiber maps are elements from an algebraic -action of entropy rank one. This leads, via the relative variational principle, to a formula for the topological entropy of continuous skew products as the maximum of a finite number of topological pressures. We use this to settle a conjecture concerning the relational entropy of commuting toral automorphisms.

Local and category-theoretical entropies associated with an endomorphism of finite length (i.e., with zero-dimensional closed fiber) of a commutative Noetherian local ring are compared. Local entropy is shown to be less than or equal to category-theoretical entropy. The two entropies are shown to be equal when the ring is regular, and also for the Frobenius endomorphism of a complete local ring of positive characteristic.Furthermore, given a flat morphism of Cohen–Macaulay local rings endowed with compatible endomorphisms of finite length, it is shown that local entropy is “additive”. Finally, over a ring that is a homomorphic image of a regular local ring, a formula for local entropy in terms of an asymptotic partial Euler characteristic is given.  相似文献

We consider some classes of piecewise expanding maps in finite dimensional spaces having invariant probability measures which are absolutely continuous with respect to Lebesgue measure. We derive an entropy formula for such measures and, using this entropy formula, we present sufficient conditions for the continuity of that entropy with respect to the parameter in some parametrized families of maps. We apply our results to a classical one-dimensional family of tent maps and a family of two-dimensional maps which arises as the limit of return maps when a homoclinic tangency is unfolded by a family of three dimensional diffeomorphisms.  相似文献

One of the recently developed approaches for control of chaos is the minimum entropy (ME) control technique. In this method an entropy function based on the Shannon definition, is defined for a chaotic system. The control action is designed such that the entropy as a cost function is minimized which results in more regular pattern of motion for the system trajectories. In this paper an online optimization technique using particle swarm optimization (PSO) method is developed to calculate the control action based on ME strategy. The method is examined on some standard chaotic maps with error feedback and delayed feedback forms. Considering the fact that the optimization is online, simulation results show very good effectiveness of the presented technique in controlling chaos.  相似文献

Variational principles and mixed multifractal spectra   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  

We establish a ``conditional' variational principle, which unifies and extends many results in the multifractal analysis of dynamical systems. Namely, instead of considering several quantities of local nature and studying separately their multifractal spectra we develop a unified approach which allows us to obtain all spectra from a new multifractal spectrum. Using the variational principle we are able to study the regularity of the spectra and the full dimensionality of their irregular sets for several classes of dynamical systems, including the class of maps with upper semi-continuous metric entropy.

Another application of the variational principle is the following. The multifractal analysis of dynamical systems studies multifractal spectra such as the dimension spectrum for pointwise dimensions and the entropy spectrum for local entropies. It has been a standing open problem to effect a similar study for the ``mixed' multifractal spectra, such as the dimension spectrum for local entropies and the entropy spectrum for pointwise dimensions. We show that they are analytic for several classes of hyperbolic maps. We also show that these spectra are not necessarily convex, in strong contrast with the ``non-mixed' multifractal spectra.

The discrete maximum entropy (ME) probability distribution which can take on a finite number of values and whose first moments are assigned, is considered. The necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a maximum entropy solution are identical to the general ones for the finite moment problem. The entropy decreasing by adding one more moment is studied. Unstability of the distribution recovering is proved when an increasing number of moments is used.  相似文献

Bowen introduced a definition of topological entropy of subset inspired by Hausdorff dimension in 1973 [1]. In this paper we consider the Bowen entropy for amenable group action dynamical systems and show that, under the tempered condition, the Bowen entropy of the whole compact space for a given Følner sequence equals the topological entropy. For the proof of this result, we establish a variational principle related to the Bowen entropy and the Brin–Katok local entropy formula for dynamical systems with amenable group actions.  相似文献

By applying an operator algebra perspective we develop a more general approach to sofic entropy which produces both measure and topological dynamical invariants, and we establish the variational principle in this context. In this paper we derive a variational integrator for nonsmooth mechanical systems by discretizing the principle of virtual action with finite elements in time. After the discretization with local finite elements, the constitutive laws for the contact forces are introduced as in Moreau's time stepping scheme. This derivation shows exemplary how variational integrators for systems with frictional unilateral constraints can be derived. We study a notion of entropy, called f-invariant entropy, introduced by Lewis Bowen for probability measure preserving actions of finitely generated free groups. In the degenerate case, the f-invariant entropy is -∞. In this paper, we investigate the qualitative consequences of an action having finite f-invariant entropy. We find three main properties of such actions. First, the stabilizers occurring in factors of such actions are highly restricted. Specifically, the stabilizer of almost every point must be either trivial or of finite index. Second, such actions are very chaotic in the sense that when the space is not essentially countable, every non-identity group element acts with infinite Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy. Finally, we show that such actions display behavior reminiscent of the Howe-Moore property. Specifically, if the action is ergodic, there exists an integer n such that for every non-trivial normal subgroup K, the number of K-ergodic components is at most n. Our results are based on a new formula for f-invariant entropy.  相似文献

We propose a new definition of entropy based on both topological and metric entropy for the meromorphic maps. The entropy is then computed on the unit disc of a meromorphic map, which is called the extended Blaschke function, and is a nonlinear extension of the normalized Lorentz transformation. We nd that the de ned entropy is computable and observe several interested results, such as maximal entropy, entropy overshoot due to topological transition, entropy reduction to zero, and scaling invariance in conjunction with parameter space.  相似文献

We develop a fine-scale local analysis of measure entropy and measure sequence entropy based on combinatorial independence. The concepts of measure IE-tuples and measure IN-tuples are introduced and studied in analogy with their counterparts in topological dynamics. Local characterizations of the Pinsker von Neumann algebra and its sequence entropy analogue are given in terms of combinatorial independence, ?1 geometry, and Voiculescu's completely positive approximation entropy. Among the novel features of our local study is the treatment of general discrete acting groups, with the structural assumption of amenability in the case of entropy.  相似文献
