Samples of natural andalusite (Al2SiO5) crystal have been investigated in terms of thermoluminescence (TL) and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) measurements. The TL glow curves of samples previously annealed at 600 °C for 30 min and subsequently gamma-irradiated gave rise to four glow peaks at 150, 210, 280 and 350 °C. The EPR spectra of natural samples heat-treated at 600 °C for 30 min show signals at g=5.94 and 2.014 that do not change after gamma irradiation and thermal treatments. However, it was observed that the appearance of a paramagnetic center at g=1.882 for the samples annealed at 600 °C for 30 min followed gamma irradiation. This line was attributed to Ti3+ centers. The EPR signals observed at g=5.94 and 2.014 are due to Fe3+. Correlations between EPR and TL results of these crystals show that the EPR line at g=1.882 and the TL peak at 280 °C can be attributed to the same defect center.  相似文献

Lithium Calcium borate (LiCaBO3) polycrystalline thermoluminescence (TL) phosphor doped with rare earth (RE3+) elements has been synthesized by high temperature solid state diffusion reaction. The reaction has produced a very stable crystalline LiCaBO3:RE3+ phosphors. Among these RE3+ doped phosphors thulium doped material showed maximum TL sensitivity with favorable glow curve shape. TL glow curve of gamma irradiated LiCaBO3:Tm3+ samples had shown two major well-separated glow peaks at 230 and 430 °C. The glow peak at 430 °C is almost thrice the intensity of the glow peak at 230 °C. The TL sensitivity of the phosphor to gamma radiation was about eight times that of TLD-100 (LiF). Photoluminescence and TL emission spectra showed the characteristic Tm3+ peaks. TL response to gamma radiation dose was linear up to 103 Gy. Post-irradiation TL fading on storage in room temperature and elevated temperatures was studied in LiCaBO3:Tm3+ phosphor.  相似文献

In this paper, the effect of neutron irradiation on sapphire single crystal with fast neutron of 1.0×1018 and 1.0×1019 neutrons/cm2 has been investigated along with the effect of annealing temperature. It is found that the colorless transparent sapphire single crystals were turned yellow after 10 MeV fast neutron irradiation at room temperature. There are peaks at 206, 230, 258, 305, 358 and 452 nm after neutron irradiation. And the intensity of optical absorption bands decrease with wavelength and annealing temperature. A new absorption peak at 452 nm was found after isothermal annealing at 400 °C for 10 min, which was ascribed to F2+ color center. Because of the recombination of interstitial ions and vacancies, color centers were almost removed after annealing at 1000 °C. The TL peaks were found to shift to higher temperature after neutron irradiation. And a higher fluence of the neutron irradiation would result in deep traps revealed as the new TL peaks at 176 and 227 °C.  相似文献

Biotite mineral grains from granitic rocks were subjected to luminescence studies with optical and thermal stimulation. Moderate thermoluminescence (TL) signals and weak optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) with blue-green light stimulation were detected after 50 Gy beta irradiation. No detectable infrared-stimulated luminescence (IRSL) was observed for natural and laboratory beta-irradiated samples. TL peaks at 118, 300, 360 and 480 °C can be identified from laboratory-irradiated samples. The 360 °C TL peak saturates at a higher dose than quartz, but shows significant anomalous fading after 80 days stored at room temperature. The potentials and problems for biotite used as a natural dosimeter are discussed.  相似文献

Grossular is one of six members of silicate Garnet group. Two samples GI and GII have been investigated concerning their luminescence thermally stimulated (TL). EPR and optical absorption and the measurements were carried out to find out whether or not same point defects are responsible for all three properties. Although X-rays diffraction analysis has shown that both GI and GII have practically the same crystal structure of a standard grossular crystal, they presented different behavior in many aspects. The TL glow curve shape, TL response to radiation dose, the effect of annealing at high temperatures before irradiation, the dependence of UV bleaching parameters on peak temperature, all of them differ going from GI to GII. The EPR signals around g=2.0 as well as at g=4.3 and 6.0 have much larger intensity in GI than in GII. Very high temperature (>800 °C) annealing causes large increase in the bulk background absorption in GI, however, only very little in GII. In the cases of EPR and optical absorption, the difference in their behavior can be attributed to Fe3+ ions; however, in the TL case one cannot and the cause was not found as yet.  相似文献

In the given study, the thermoluminescence (TL) properties of copper (Cu)-doped ZnS thin films were investigated after β-irradiation at room temperature (RT). It was observed that the glow curve of this material has two broad TL peaks, in which one of them was centered at about 110 °C and the other at about 170 °C for a heating rate of 1 °C s−1 in the temperature range from RT to 350 °C. The additive dose (AD), Tm(Ea)−Tstop, repeated initial rise (RIR), variable heating rate (VHR) and computerized glow curve deconvolution (CGCD) methods were used to analyze its glow curves. These methods indicated that the glow curve of this material is the superposition of a number of first- and general-order glow peaks, or at least due to the distribution of traps. The dose responses and fading process of both peaks were also examined, and it was observed that the dose responses of both peaks have similar pattern. First they follow a good linearity with different slopes and then saturate at approximately same dose level (2 kGy). The low-temperature broad peak nearly disappeared after 1 week storage in the dark at RT. On the other hand, the intensity of the high-temperature broad peak was approximately reduced to 50% of its original value. The TL emission spectrum of this material has two main emission bands, namely, the blue and green bands. The first glow peak emits predominantly in blue region, whereas the second glow peak in the green region.  相似文献

Persistent phosphorescence induced by ultraviolet light in polycrystalline HfO2 and enhancement of the phosphorescence by sintering are investigated. The phosphorescence afterglow emission is in the 1.8-3.2 eV spectral range, with a peak at 2.53 eV. The afterglow intensity is significantly increased by sintering in either inert atmosphere or air. The afterglow light sum measured at room temperature for samples sintered at 1500 °C is more than an order of magnitude higher than that before sintering. In the temperature range −50 to 200 °C, three thermoluminescence (TL) peaks are observed near −10, 30, and 100 °C. The relative contribution of the low-temperature TL peak to the total TL intensity decreases after sintering, and this effect is more pronounced upon sintering in inert atmosphere. Conversely, the contribution of the TL peak near 100 °C increases after sintering. The enhancement of the afterglow by sintering is associated with the observed increase in the intensity of TL peaks at and above room temperature and attributed to an increase in the number of deep charge traps. The room-temperature afterglow time decay has a form consistent with the second-order mechanism, ∝(t0+t)n, and the best-fit values of both fitting parameters t0 and n tend to increase with the sintering temperature.  相似文献

Diacylglycerol oil has been increasingly recognized by its good nutritional properties and therefore, different technologies have been developed for obtaining it. The present work focuses on the diacylglycerol production by hydrolysis reaction of the palm oil using the PS IM and TL IM commercial lipases as biocatalysts under ultrasound irradiation. An experimental design (central composite rotatable design - CCRD) adopting surface response was applied as a tool to evaluate the optimal reaction conditions beyond a restrict number of experiments. Reactions were performed in an ultrasound equipment and different variables were investigated, such as temperature (30-55 °C), enzyme content (1-2 wt.% of oil mass), mechanical stirring (300-700 rpm) and reaction time. Both, PS IM and TL IM enzymes showed the best results after 1 h and 30 min of reaction under 30 °C and, applying 300 rpm as stirring. On these conditions, the diacylglycerol yield was around 34% and 39%, respectively; considering that 1% PS IM was applied for the first one and, 2% TL IM for the second one. Therefore, it was obtained good yield of a diacylglycerol-rich oil in shorter reaction times under sonication and soft conditions. The mathematic model proposed suggested a satisfactorily representation of the process and good correlation among the experimental results and the theoretical values predicted by the model equation were achieved.  相似文献

This paper describes a detailed experimental study of the thermoluminescence (TL) properties of four binary lead-silicate glasses, with PbO concentrations ranging from 32% to 62% in mole percent. The TL glow peaks between room temperature and 300 °C were analyzed using a systematic thermal cleaning technique. The Tmax-Tstop and E-Tstop methods of analysis were used to identify the number of peaks under the glow curves, and to obtain the activation energy E for each TL trap. A computerized glow curve fitting analysis is used to fit the experimental data to four first-order peaks with maxima at temperatures of 54, 80, 110 and 210 °C, as measured with a heating rate of 2 °C/s. The kinetic parameters of the glow-peak at 210 °C were confirmed by using phosphorescence decay methods of analysis. The TL traps associated with the low-temperature TL peak at 54 °C are found to depend strongly on the PbO concentration of the samples, while the higher-temperature TL peaks show a behavior independent of the PbO concentration. The activation energy E and frequency factor s of the low-temperature TL trap associated with the peak at 54 °C are consistent with a trap involving a delocalized transition through the conduction band. However, the activation energies and frequency factors for the higher-temperature TL traps are consistent with traps involving localized transitions via an excited state below the conduction band. The data suggest that these higher-temperature TL traps are associated with the common silicate matrix in these binary silicate glasses.  相似文献

The present paper reports that TL glow curve and kinetic parameter of Eu3+ doped SrY2O4 phosphor irradiated by beta source. Sample was prepared by solid state preparation method. Sample was characterized by XRD analysis and particle size was calculated by Debye–Scherrer formula. The sample was irradiated with Sr-90 beta source giving a dose of 10 Gy and the heating rate used for TL measurements are 6.7 °C/s. The samples display good TL peaks at 106 °C, 225 °C and 382 °C. The corresponding kinetic parameters are calculated. The photoluminescence excitation spectrum at 247 and 364 nm monitored with 400 nm excitation and the corresponding emission peaks at 590, 612 and 624 nm are reported.  相似文献

ZrO2 pellets doped by ZnO after 302 nm UV irradiation have been studied for ThermoLuminescent (TL) glow. The TL peak at 90°C for the 1100°C sintered ZrO2 pellet shifted to 85°C with intensity increased three times for the 1% ZnO doped ZrO2 sintered at 1100°C. The peak intensity at 210°C for the doped one is only one tenth of the undoped one. The emission spectra of thermoluminescence for undoped and ZnO-doped ZrO2 revealed that the effect of ZnO doping is to increase the number of luminescent centers. The trapping center associated to the 90°C TL peak is explained by the similar model as that of Kirsh et al. For the case of 210°C TL peak, we have proposed two different models of trapping centers; one is the Zr4+ in an asymmetrical oxygen arrangement, and the other is the defect complex formed from an oxygen vacancy and an anion.  相似文献

Solid state/EPR (SS/EPR) dosimeters of carbon ions irradiated sucrose are studied with EPR, and their water solutions – with UV spectroscopy. Doses between 20 and 200 Gy are used with linear energy transfer (LET) values for carbon ions of 63, 77, 96 and 230 keV μm?1. After irradiation all samples show typical for irradiated sucrose EPR and UV spectra. The obtained data are compared with those previously reported for nitrogen particles and gamma rays irradiated sucrose. The identical shape of both the EPR and UV spectra of irradiated with various type radiation samples suggests that generated free radicals are not influenced by the nature of radiation. The lack of difference in the line width of the separate lines or the whole EPR spectrum, obtained for gamma and heavy particles irradiation, suggests negligible spin–spin interaction among the radiation-generated free radicals in the samples. The linear dependence of the EPR response on the absorbed dose radiation is found to be higher when generated by gamma rays, than by the same absorbed dose of heavy particles. In addition, the EPR response for carbon ions is higher than that for nitrogen ions. Water solutions of irradiated sucrose exhibit UV spectrum with absorption maximum at 267 nm, attributed to the recombination products of free radicals. The UV band intensity depends on the absorbed dose radiation. The UV spectra obtained for carbon, nitrogen and gamma rays irradiated sucrose are also compared.  相似文献

The intensity of optically stimulated luminescence may be decreased to a slow or medium component of its decay curve by optical bleaching, that is, by prolonged exposure of the luminescent sample to stimulating light. In this paper, we report on the influence of irradiation and measurement temperature on luminescence lifetimes as well as on the effect of measurement temperature on luminescence intensity in annealed natural quartz from Nigeria. Measurements were carried out in the slow component region using time-resolved optical stimulation at 470 nm on samples annealed at 500 and 600 °C. Luminescence lifetimes were determined from the resultant time-resolved luminescence spectra by analysing the portion of each spectrum after the stimulating light pulse of duration 11 μs. In preparatory tests, the influence of the duration of optical bleaching on lifetimes was investigated. It was found that lifetimes in samples annealed at 500 °C are independent of the duration of optical bleaching, whereas lifetimes in quartz annealed at 600 °C are affected, decreasing towards a constant value with duration of bleaching. Concerning measurements in the slow-component region, lifetimes were found to decrease with irradiation dose for samples annealed at either 500 or 600 °C. The temperature dependence of lifetimes in both sets of quartz is similar with lifetimes constant at about 36 μs between 20 and 120 °C, but decreasing consistently from then on to about 5 μs at 200 °C, the maximum measurement temperature used in experiments. The luminescence intensity was observed to typically go through a peak as the stimulation temperature was increased from 20 to 200 °C, following a brief initial decrease, a change better exemplified in the quartz annealed at 600 °C. The initial decrease in luminescence intensity is attributed to the dominance of optical stimulation over thermal stimulation. On the other hand, the subsequent change of luminescence intensity with temperature is discussed as evidence of thermal assistance to optical stimulation, initially with activation energy of 0.27±0.07 eV and of thermal quenching subsequently with activation energy equal to 0.93±0.23 eV for samples annealed at either 500 or 600 °C. The temperature dependence of lifetimes is explained as showing increased thermal effect on lifetimes with activation energy values within 0.83±0.01 eV. On the other hand, the influence of irradiation on lifetimes is accounted for in terms of an energy band model for quartz consisting of three luminescence centres and one non-radiative recombination centre.  相似文献

The behaviour of trap centres and luminescence centres has been investigated for fired and unfired natural quartz from bricks and sediments irradiated at 100 Gy and annealed at different temperatures in the range 350-700 °C. The annealing treatment affects thermoluminescence (TL) glow curve as various changes were observed. The higher sensitization occurred for an annealing in the region 550-600 °C. At this annealing temperature, it has been observed the emergence of two peaks arising at 96 and 180 °C. At lower annealing temperatures, these peaks are overlapped by the peaks localized at 90 and 195 °C, respectively. Concerning the fired quartz, the higher sensitization occurred for an annealing in the region 500-550 °C for peak temperature around 200 °C and an unusual desensitization for the peak temperature around 100 °C. The behaviour of the two types of quartz is analyzed regarding to their kinetic parameters and luminescence emission and compared to literature data.  相似文献

Electron spin resonance (ESR) studies were carried out to identify the defect centres responsible for the thermoluminescence (TL) and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) processes in BeO phosphor. Two defect centres were identified in irradiated BeO phosphor by ESR measurements, which were carried out at room temperature and these were assigned to an O ion and Al2+ centre. The O ion (hole centre) correlates with the main 190 °C TL peak. The Al2+ centre (electron centre), which acts as a recombination centre, also correlates to the 190 °C TL peak. A third centre, observed during thermal annealing studies, is assigned to an O ion and is related to the high temperature TL at 317 °C. This centre also appears to be responsible for the observed OSL process in BeO phosphor.  相似文献

Blue-emitting europium-ion-doped MgSrAl10O17 phosphor, prepared using the combustion method, is described. An efficient phosphor can be prepared by this method in a muffle furnace maintained at 500 °C in a very short time of few minutes. The phosphor is characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and BET surface area measurements. Photoluminescence (PL) spectra revealed that europium ions were present in divalent oxidation state. The thermoluminescence (TL) glow curve shows two peaks at around 178 and at 354 °C. The defect centres formed in the phosphor are studied using electron spin resonance (ESR). The ESR spectrum indicates the presence of Fe3+ ions in the non-irradiated system. Irradiated MgSrAl10O17:Eu exhibits lines due to radiation-sensitive Fe3+ ion and a defect centre. The centre is characterized by an isotropic g-value of 2.0012 and is assigned to a F+ centre. The radiation-sensitive Fe3+ ion appears to correlate with the main TL peak at 178 °C. During irradiation an electron is released from Fe2+ and is trapped at an anion vacancy to form F+ centre. During heating, an electron is liberated from the defect centre and recombines with Fe3+ emitting light.  相似文献

The effect of annealing temperature on the phototransfer thermoluminescence (PTTL) signal was studied to determine the appropriate annealing temperature for treating the natural powder before irradiation. The temperatures used to anneal virgin natural fluorite samples (only natural dose without giving the samples any artificial doses) were 150, 250, 350, 450, 550, 650 and 750°C for a duration of 1 h in each case. The results show that the PTTL response did not change for anneal temperatures up to 450°C, but at higher temperatures the signal decreased rapidly. The height of the 90°C peak decreased by two orders of magnitude as the anneal temperature increased from 450 to 750°C, whilst the height of the 180°C peak decreased by three orders of magnitude between the same two annealing temperatures. In order to investigate the effect of previous gamma rays and heavy ion irradiation on thermoluminescence (TL) and PTTL signals, powdered samples of natural fluorite from Cornwall, England, were annealed at 500°C and then irradiated (at GSI, Darmstadt, Germany) with 161Dy ions of energy 13 Mev/n; the range of fluences used was from 104 to 1012 ion cm−2. Identical samples were given gamma doses in the range 1 Gy to 2.6 × 104 Gy in order to compare the effects of gamma rays and heavy ions. The sensitivities of TL and PTTL were studied by giving the samples a gamma test dose of 1 Gy after annealing the samples at 500°C for 30 min in order to eliminate the TL resulting from previous gamma or heavy ion irradiation.  相似文献

Europium doped BaAl12O19 powder phosphors have been synthesized by combustion process within few minutes. The phosphors have been characterized by XRD, SEM, FT-IR, EPR and PL techniques. The EPR spectrum exhibits an intense resonance signal at g=1.96 characteristic of Eu2+ ions. In addition to this two weak resonance signals have been observed at g=2.28 and g=4.86. The population of the spin levels (N) for the resonance signal at g=1.96 is calculated as a function of temperature. By post-treating the phosphor at 1350 °C under a reducing atmosphere, it is observed that the population of spin levels has been increased five times. The excitation spectrum shows a peak at 326 nm with a shoulder at 290 nm. Upon excitation at 326 nm, the emission spectrum exhibits a well defined broad band with maximum at 444 nm emitting a blue light corresponding to 4f65d→4f7 transition. The luminescence intensity also has been enhanced to 60% by post-treating the phosphor at 1350 °C under a reducing atmosphere.  相似文献

The influence of dopant TiO2 and co-dopant MgO on the thermoluminescence (TL) properties of lithium potassium borate glass (LKB) is reported in this paper. The glow curve exhibits a prominent peak (Tm) at 230 °C. The TL intensity was enhanced by a factor of ~3 due to the incorporation of MgO, and this was attributed to the creation of extra electron traps mediated by radiative recombination energy transfer. We achieved good linearity of the TL yield with dose, low fading, excellent reproducibility and a promising effective atomic number (Zeff=8.89), all of which are highly suitable for dosimetry. The effect of heating rate, sunlight and dose rate on the TL are also examined. These attractive features demonstrate that our dosimeter is useful in medical radiation therapy.  相似文献
