Desingularizations of quiver Grassmannians via graded quiver varieties

Inspired by recent work of Cerulli, Feigin and Reineke on desingularizations of quiver Grassmannians of representations of Dynkin quivers, we obtain desingularizations in considerably more general situations and in particular for Grassmannians of modules over iterated tilted algebras of Dynkin type. Our desingularization map is constructed from Nakajima's desingularization map for graded quiver varieties.     

A Pieri-type formula for the -theory of a flag manifold

We derive explicit Pieri-type multiplication formulas in the Grothendieck ring of a flag variety. These expand the product of an arbitrary Schubert class and a special Schubert class in the basis of Schubert classes. These special Schubert classes are indexed by a cycle which has either the form or the form , and are pulled back from a Grassmannian projection. Our formulas are in terms of certain labeled chains in the -Bruhat order on the symmetric group and are combinatorial in that they involve no cancellations. We also show that the multiplicities in the Pieri formula are naturally certain binomial coefficients.

     

On the coefficients of a polynomial with restricted zeros

LetP(Z)=αn Zn + αn-1Zn-1 +…+α0 be a complex polynomial of degree n. There is a close connection between the coefficients and the zeros of P(z). In this paper we prove some sharp inequalities concerning the coeffi-cients of the polynomial P(z) with restricted zeros. We also establish a sufficient condition for the separation of zeros of P(z).

Factors of the Gaussian coefficients

We present some simple observations on factors of the q-binomial coefficients, the q-Catalan numbers, and the q-multinomial coefficients. Writing the Gaussian coefficient with numerator n and denominator k in a form such that 2k?n by the symmetry in k, we show that this coefficient has at least k factors. Some divisibility results of Andrews, Brunetti and Del Lungo are also discussed.
