The influence of the counteranion on the structure and the spin-transition properties of original 1D bis(tetrazole) Fe(II) systems, namely [Fe(btzx)(3)]X(2) (X=PF(6) (-) (1), CF(3)SO(3) (-) (2) and ClO(4) (-) (3); btzx=m-xylylenebis(tetrazole)) is studied. The X-ray crystal structures of compounds 1 and 2 are described in detail. These structures present a solvent molecule encapsulated within pockets formed by btzx ligands along the 1D coordination chains. Compound 2 is shown to be the first structurally characterised alternating HS-LS 1D spin-transition system (HS=high spin, LS=low spin). The magnetic susceptibility measurements of all three compounds are compared. The degree of completion and the transition temperature are both drastically influenced by the counterion used, while surprisingly, the cooperative nature of the transition is not affected by the choice of counterion. Compounds 1 and 2 are further studied by M?ssbauer spectroscopy and their distinct LIESST properties are compared.  相似文献

A 2D iron(II) spin crossover complex, [FeII(HLH,Me)2](ClO4)2.1.5MeCN (1), was synthesized, where HLH,Me = imidazol-4-yl-methylidene-8-amino-2-methylquinoline. 1 showed a gradual spin transition between the HS (S = 2) and LS (S = 0) states from 180 to 325 K within the first warming run from 5 to 350 K, in which 1.5MeCN is removed, and there was an abrupt spin transition at T1/2 downward arrow = 174 K in the first cooling run from 350 to 5 K. Following the first cycle, the compound showed an abrupt spin transition at T1/2 upward arrow = 185 K and T1/2 downward arrow = 174 K with 11 K wide hysteresis in the second cycle. The crystal structures of 1 were determined at 296 (an intermediate between the HS and LS states) and 150 K (LS state). The structure consists of a 2D extended structure constructed of both the bifurcated NH...O- hydrogen bonds between two ClO4- ions and two neighboring imidazole NH groups of the [FeII(HLH,Me)2]2+ cations and the pi-pi interactions between the two quinolyl rings of the two adjacent cations. Thermogravimetric analysis showed that solvent molecules are gradually eliminated even at room temperature and completely removed at 369 K. Desolvated complex 1' showed an abrupt spin transition at T1/2 upward arrow = 180 K and T1/2 downward arrow = 174 K with 6 K wide hysteresis.  相似文献

The novel bidentate ligand 1,4-di(1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)butane (bbtr) reacts with Fe(ClO4)2 x 6H2O to form the 2D coordination polymer with (3,6) network topology. The {[Fe(bbtr)3](ClO4)2}infinity represents an example of spin-crossover material based on 1,2,3-triazole as donor group, and displays an abrupt spin transition accompanied by a thermal hysteresis loop (T(1/2)decrease = 101 K and T(1/2)increase = 109 K).  相似文献

The synthesis and detailed characterization of the new spin crossover mononuclear complex [Fe(II)(DAPP)(abpt)](ClO(4))(2), where DAPP = [bis(3-aminopropyl)(2-pyridylmethyl)amine] and abpt = 4-amino-3,5-bis(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazole, are reported. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements and M?ssbauer spectroscopy have revealed the occurrence of an abrupt spin transition with a hysteresis loop. The hysteresis width derived from magnetic susceptibility measurements is 10 K, the transition being centered at T(c) downward arrow = 171 K for decreasing and T(c) upward arrow = 181 K for increasing temperatures. The crystal structure was resolved in the high-spin (293 and 183 K) and low-spin (123 K) states. Both spin-state structures belong to the monoclinic space group P2(1)/n (Z = 4). The thermal spin transition is accompanied by the shortening of the mean Fe-N distances by 0.177 A. The two main structural characteristics of [Fe(DAPP)(abpt)](ClO(4))(2) are a branched network of intermolecular links in the crystal lattice and the occurrence of two types of order-disorder transitions (in the DAPP ligand and in the perchlorate anions) accompanying the thermal spin change. These features are discussed relative to the magnetic properties of the complex. The electronic structure calculations show that the structural disorder in the DAPP ligand modulates the energy gap between the HS and LS states. In line with previous studies, the order-disorder phenomena and the spin transition in [Fe(DAPP)(abpt)](ClO(4))(2) are found to be interrelated.  相似文献

The spin crossover compounds [FeL2](BF4)2, L=2,6-di(3-methylpyrazol-1-yl)pyrazine and [FeL2](ClO4)2 have very unusual two stage spin transitions which are initially steep and then become more gradual. A detailed variable temperature single crystal X-ray diffraction study has shown that the course of the spin transition is controlled by an order-disorder transition in the counter anions. The high and low spin states both crystallise in the tetragonal space group I4, the structures of the high and low spin states are presented at 290 and 30 K, respectively. The title compounds are shown to undergo LIESST (Light Induced Excited Spin State Trapping) under irradiation with either red or green laser light with wavelengths of 632.8 and 532.06 nm, respectively, at 30 K. The cell parameters for the tetragonal photo-induced metastable high spin state at this temperature are a= 9.169(6), c= 17.77(1) A for [FeL2](ClO4)2 with an increase in unit cell volume of 21 A3, and a= 9.11(1), c= 17.75(2) A and an increase in volume of 42.8 A3 for [FeL2](BF4)2.  相似文献

The syntheses, crystal structures, and magnetochemical characterization of five new iron clusters [Fe5O2(O2CPh)7(edte)(H2O)] (1), [Fe6O2(O2CBut)8(edteH)2] (2), [Fe12O4(OH)2(O2CMe)6(edte)4(H2O)2](ClO4)4 (3), [Fe12O4(OH)8(edte)4(H2O)2](ClO4)4 (4), and [Fe12O4(OH)8(edte)4(H2O)2](NO3)4 (5) (edteH4= N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2-hydroxyethyl) ethylenediamine) are reported. The reaction of edteH4 with [Fe3O(O2CPh)6(H2O)3](NO3) and [Fe3O(O2CBut)6(H2O)3](OH) gave 1 and 2, respectively. Complex 3 was obtained from the reaction of edteH4 and NaO2CMe with Fe(ClO4)3, whereas 4 and 5 were obtained from the reaction of edteH4 with Fe(ClO4)3 and Fe(NO3)3, respectively. The core of 1 consists of a [Fe4(mu3-O)2]8+ butterfly unit to which is attached a fifth Fe atom by four bridging O atoms. The core of 2 consists of two triangular [Fe3(mu3-O)]7+ units linked together by six bridging O atoms. Finally, the cores of 3-5 consist of an [Fe12(mu4-O)4(mu-OH)2]26+ unit. Variable-temperature (T) and -field (H) solid-state direct and alternating current magnetization (M) studies were carried out on complexes 1-3 in the 1.8-300 K range. Analysis of the obtained data revealed that 1, 2, and 3-5 possess an S = 5/2, 5, and 0 ground-state spin, respectively. The fitting of the obtained M/N(muB) vs H/T data was carried out by matrix diagonalization, and this gave values for the axial zero-field splitting (ZFS) parameter D of -0.50 cm-1 for 1 and -0.28 cm-1 for 2.  相似文献

The photomagnetic properties of the following iron(II) complexes have been investigated: [Fe(L1)2][BF4]2, [Fe(L2)2][BF4]2, [Fe(L2)2][ClO4]2, [Fe(L3)2][BF4]2, [Fe(L3)2][ClO4]2 and [Fe(L4)2][ClO4]2 (L1 = 2,6-di{pyrazol-1-yl}pyridine; L2 = 2,6-di{pyrazol-1-yl}pyrazine; L3 = 2,6-di{pyrazol-1-yl}-4-{hydroxymethyl}pyridine; and L4 = 2,6-di{4-methylpyrazol-1-yl}pyridine). Compounds display a complete thermal spin transition centred between 200-300 K, and undergo the light-induced excited spin state trapping (LIESST) effect at low temperatures. The T(LIESST) relaxation temperature of the photoinduced high-spin state for each compound has been determined. The presence of sigmoidal kinetics in the HS --> LS relaxation process, and the observation of LITH hysteresis loops under constant irradiation, demonstrate the cooperative nature of the spin transitions undergone by these materials. All the compounds in this study follow a previously proposed linear relation between T(LIESST) and their thermal spin-transition temperatures T(1/2): T(LIESST) = T(0)- 0.3T(1/2). T(0) for these compounds is identical to that found previously for another family of iron(II) complexes of a related tridentate ligand, the first time such a comparison has been made. Crystallographic characterisation of the high- and low-spin forms, the light-induced high-spin state, and the low-spin complex [Fe(L4)2][BF4]2, are described.  相似文献

The title compound [Fe (II)(L) 2][ClO 4] 2.C 7H 8 (L = 2-[3-(2'-pyridyl)pyrazol-1-ylmethyl]pyridine) has been isolated while attempting to grow single crystals of the spin-transition (continuous-type) compound [Fe (II)(L) 2][ClO 4] 2, published earlier ( Dalton Trans. 2003, 3392-3397). Magnetic susceptibility measurements, as well as Mossbauer and calorimetric investigations on polycrystalline samples of [Fe(L) 2][ClO 4] 2.C 7H 8 revealed the occurrence of an abrupt HS ( (5) T 2) <--> LS ( (1) A 1) transition with steep and narrow (2 K) hysteresis at approximately 232 K. The photomagnetic properties exhibit features typical for a broad distribution of activation energies, with relaxation curves in the shape of stretched exponentials. We performed a crystal structure determination of the compound at 120, 240, and 270 K. A noteworthy temperature-dependent behavior of the structural parameters was observed, in terms of disorder of both the anions and solvent molecules, leading to a strong thermal dependence of the strength and dimensionality of the interaction network. Additional data were obtained by diffuse reflectance measurements. We model and discuss the antagonistic effects of interactions and disorder by using a two-level cooperative mean-field approach which includes a distribution of barrier energies at the microscopic scale.  相似文献

A bitopic ligand 2-hydroxy-1-(tetrazol-1-yl)-3-(tetrazol-2-yl)propane (12pbtzOH) was synthesized and reacted with Fe(ClO4)(2).6H2O, giving a 1D coordination polymer {[Fe(12pbtzOH)2(CH3CN)2](ClO4)(2).2CH3CN} infinity that exhibits a high-spin to low-spin transition (T1/2(downward arrow)=T1/2(upward arrow) congruent with 104 K). This is an unprecedented example of an iron(II) complex containing Fe(tetrazolyl) 4(MeCN)2 cores.  相似文献

The coordination polymer {[Fe(pbtz)3](ClO4)2 . 2EtOH}infinity (1) has been prepared in a reaction between Fe(ClO4)2 . 6H2O and 1,3-di(tetrazol-2-yl)propane (pbtz). The formation of the second product {[Fe(pbtz)3](ClO4)2}infinity (2) was also noticed. Both complexes crystallize in the R3 space group. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction study of 1 (295, 90 and 230 K) revealed that the 2-substituted tetrazole rings (2tz) coordinate monodentately to the metal ions, forming Fe(2tz)6 cores. There are two crystallographically independent iron(II) ions in 1. At 295 K the Fe-N4 bond lengths are equal to 2.173(5) and 2.196(5) A for Fe1 and 2.176(5) and 2.190(4) A for Fe2. The pbtz ligand molecules act as N4,N4' connectors, bridging central atoms in the three directions, which leads to the formation of the 3D network. The crystal lattice of 1 is solvated by ethanol molecules. At 295 K the solvent and ligand molecules are disordered. The results of temperature-dependent magnetic susceptibility measurements (5-300 K), and the single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies (90 K) have exhibited that 1 undergoes the thermally induced spin transition HS<-->LS (SCO). The chiMT(T) dependence shows in the range 200-75 K gradual SCO. Below 75 K the transition is finished and approximately 20% of the HS fraction is present in the sample. The HS-->LS transition is accompanied by a shortening of the Fe-N bonds of 0.15 A. At 90 K the ligand molecules are ordered. The presence of 2 in the reaction product was disclosed accidentally, and only the X-ray diffraction studies (250, 90 K) were performed. Also in 2 iron(II) ions serve as topological nodes of the 3D network. Despite the same network topology, 2 crystallizes without ethanol molecules solvating the crystal lattice. The pbtz molecules bridge the neighboring iron(II) ions, coordinating through N4,N4' atoms of the 2-substituted tetrazole rings forming the Fe(2tz)6 cores. At 250 K the Fe-N bond lengths are equal to 2.208(5) and 2.218(5) A. In contrast to 1, the cooling of the crystal of 2 from 250 to 90 K does not involve the shortening of the Fe-N bond lengths. At this temperature, the Fe-N distances remain characteristic for the HS form of the complex and are equal to 2.203(3) and 2.208(3) A.  相似文献

The synthesis and detailed study of the new mononuclear spin crossover complex [Fe(II)H2L(2-Me)](ClO4)2 (where H2L(2-Me) = bis[((2-methylimidazol-4-yl)methylidene)-3-aminopropyl]ethylenediamine) are reported. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements show the occurrence of a steep spin crossover centered at 171.5 K with a hysteresis loop of ca. 5 K width (T(/2)(increasing) = 174 K and T(1/2)(decreasing) = 169 K, for increasing and decreasing temperatures, respectively). The crystal structure has been resolved for the high-spin (HS) and low-spin (LS) states at 200 and 123 K, respectively, revealing a crystallographic phase transition that occurs concomitantly to the spin crossover: at 200 K, the complex crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P2(1)/n, while the space group is P2(1) at 123 K. The mean Fe-N distances are shortened by 0.2 A, but the thermal spin crossover is accompanied by significant structural changes: the rearrangement of the central atom C12 of a six-membered chelate ring of [Fe(II)H2L(2-Me)]2+ to two positions (C12A and C12B) and, consequently, the lack of an inversion center at 123 K (P2(1) space group). Both HS and LS supramolecular structures involve all possible hydrogen bonds between imidazole and amine NH functions, and perchlorate anions; however, the HS supramolecular structure is a one-dimensional (1D) network, and the LS phase may better be described as a two-dimensional (2D) extended structure of A and B molecules. The structural phase transition of [FeH2L(2-Me)](ClO4)2 seems to trigger the steep and hysteretic spin crossover. Discontinuities in the temperature dependence of the M?ssbauer parameters (isomer shift and quadrupole splitting) at the spin crossover temperature confirmed the occurrence of a structural phase transition. The experimental enthalpy and entropy variations were determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) as 7.5 +/- 0.4 kJ/mol and 45 +/- 3 J K(-1) mol(-1), respectively. The regular solution theory was applied to the experimental data, yielding an interaction parameter of Gamma = 3.36 kJ/mol, which is larger than 2RT(1/2), which fulfills the condition for observing hysteresis.  相似文献

Five mononuclear spin crossover iron(II) bis-meridional ligand complexes of the general formula [Fe(L)(2)](X)(2).solvent, have been synthesized, where X = BF(4)- or ClO(4)-; L = 2-(1-pyridin-2-ylmethyl-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-pyrazine (picpzpz) or 2-(3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazol-1-ylmethyl)pyridine) (picpypz); solvent = MeOH or EtOH. The magnetic and structural consequences of systematic variation of meridional ligand, solvent, and anion, including a desolvated species, have been investigated. The complex [Fe(picpzpz)(2)](BF(4))(2).MeOH, 1.MeOH, displays several unique properties including a two-step spin transition with a gradual higher-temperature step ((1)T(1/2) = 197 K) and an abrupt low-temperature step with hysteresis ((2)T(1/2) = 91/98 K) and a metastable intermediate spin state below 70 K with quench-cooling. Removal of the solvent methanol results in the loss of the abrupt step and associated hysteresis (T(1/2) = 150 K). The complexes [Fe(picpzpz)(2)](BF(4))(2).EtOH (1.EtOH), [Fe(picpzpz)(2)](ClO(4))(2).MeOH (2.MeOH), [Fe(picpzpz)(2)](ClO(4))(2).EtOH (2.EtOH), and [Fe(picpypz)(2)](BF(4))(2).MeOH (3.MeOH) all show gradual one-step spin transitions with T(1/2) values in the range 210-250 K. Photomagnetic LIESST measurements on 1.MeOH reveal a near-quantitative excitation of high-spin sites and a unique two-step relaxation process related to the two-step thermal spin transition ((1)T(LIESST) = 49 K and (2)T(LIESST) = 70 K). The structural consequences of the unusual spin transition displayed by 1.MeOH have been investigated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction structural analyses between 25 and 293 K. Detailed characterization of the unit cell parameter evolution vs temperature reflects both the gradual high-temperature step and abrupt low-temperature step, including the thermal hysteresis, observed magnetically.  相似文献

The six-coordinate mononuclear iron(III) complexes [Fe(salpm)2]ClO(4).0.5EtOH, [Fe(salpm)2]Cl, [Fe{(3,5-tBu2)-salpm}2]X (X=ClO4- or Cl-), and [Fe{(3,5-tBu2)-salpm}2]NO(3).2H2O [Hsalpm=N-(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)salicylideneamine; H(3,5-tBu2)-salpm=N-(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)-3,5-di-tert-butylsalicylideneamine] have been synthesized and isolated in crystalline form; their chemical identities have been ascertained by elemental analyses, FAB mass spectrometry, and infrared spectroscopy. The room-temperature effective magnetic moments [(8chiMT)1/2 approximately 5.85-5.90 microB] of these complexes are consistent with the high-spin (S=5/2) ground state. These complexes are intensely colored on account of the strong ppi-->dpi* LMCT visible absorptions. Definitive evidence for the structures of [Fe(salpm)2]ClO(4).0.5EtOH and [Fe{(3,5-tBu2)-salpm}2]NO(3).2H2O has been provided by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. The monomeric complex cations in both compounds comprise two uninegative phenolate-pyridyl tridentate Schiff-base ligands coordinated meridionally to the iron(III) to afford a distorted octahedral geometry with a trans,cis,cis-[FeO2N4] core. Whereas [Fe(salpm)2]ClO(4).0.5EtOH undergoes a thermally induced 6A1<-->2T2 crossover, [Fe{(3,5-tBu2)-salpm}2]NO(3).2H2O retains its spin state in the solid state down to 5 K. However, EPR spectroscopy reveals that the latter complex does exhibit a spin transformation in solution, albeit to a much lesser extent than does the former. The spin crossover in [Fe(salpm)2]ClO(4).0.5EtOH has resulted in an unprecedented crystallographic observation of the coexistence of high-spin and low-spin iron(III) complex cations in equal proportions around 100 K. At room temperature, the two crystallographically distinct ferric centers are both high spin; however, one [Fe(salpm)2]+ complex cation undergoes a complete spin transition over the temperature range approximately 200-100 K, whereas the other converts very nearly completely between 100 and 65 K; approximately 10% of the complex cations in [Fe(salpm)2]ClO(4).0.5EtOH remain in the high-spin state down to 5 K.  相似文献

Two 2,6-bispyrazolylpyridine ligands (bpp) were functionalized with pyrene moieties through linkers of different lengths. In the ligand 2,6-di(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-4-(pyren-1-yl)pyridine (L1) the pyrene group is directly connected to the bpp moiety via a C-C single bond, while in the ligand 4-(2,6-di(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)pyridin-4-yl)benzyl-4-(pyren-1-yl)butanoate (L2) it is separated by a benzyl ester group involving a flexible butanoic chain. Subsequent complexation of Fe(II) salts revealed dramatic the influence of the nature of the pyrene substitution on the spin-transition behaviour of the resulting complexes. Thus, compound [Fe(L1)(2)](ClO(4))(2) (1) is blocked in its high spin state due to constraints caused by a strong intermolecular π-π stacking in its structure. On the other hand, the flexible chain of ligand L2 in compounds [Fe(L2)(2)](ClO(4))(2) (2) and [Fe(L2)(2)](BF(4))(2)·CH(3)CN·H(2)O (3) prevents structural constraints allowing for reversible spin transitions. Temperature-dependent studies of the photophysical properties of compound 3 do not reveal any obvious correlation between the fluorescence of the pyrene group and the spin state of the spin transition core.  相似文献

The syntheses, crystal structures, magnetochemical characterization, and theoretical calculations are reported for three new iron clusters [Fe 6O 2(NO3) 4(hmp) 8(H 2O) 2](NO3)2 (1), [Fe4(N3)6(hmp)6] (2), and [Fe8O3(OMe)(pdm)4(pdmH) 4(MeOH)2](ClO4)5 (3) (hmpH=2-(hydroxymethyl)pyridine; pdmH2=2,6-pyridinedimethanol). The reaction of hmpH with iron(III) sources such as Fe(NO3) 3.9H2O in the presence of NEt 3 gave 1, whereas 2 was obtained from a similar reaction by adding an excess of NaN3. Complex 3 was obtained in good yield from the reaction of pdmH 2 with Fe(ClO4)3.6H2O in MeOH in the presence of an organic base. The complexes all possess extremely rare or novel core topologies. The core of 1 comprises two oxide-centered [Fe3(mu3-O)](7+) triangular units linked together at two of their apexes by two sets of alkoxide arms of hmp(-) ligands. Complex 2 contains a zigzag array of four Fe (III) atoms within an [Fe4(mu-OR) 6](6+) core, with the azide groups all bound terminally. Finally, complex 3 contains a central [Fe 4(mu4-O)](10+) tetrahedron linked to two oxide-centered [Fe3(mu3-O)](7+) triangular units. Variable-temperature, solid-state dc and ac magnetization studies were carried out on complexes 1-3 in the 5.0-300 K range. Fitting of the obtained magnetization versus field (H) and temperature (T) data by matrix diagonalization and including only axial anisotropy (zero-field splitting, ZFS) established that 1 possesses an S=3 ground-state spin, with g=2.08, and D=-0.44 cm(-1). The magnetic susceptibility data for 2 up to 300 K were fit by matrix diagonalization and gave J1=-9.2 cm(-1), J2=-12.5 cm(-1), and g=2.079, where J 1 and J 2 are the outer and middle nearest-neighbor exchange interactions, respectively. Thus, the interactions between the Fe(III) centers are all antiferromagnetic, giving an S=0 ground state for 2. Similarly, complex 3 was found to have an S=0 ground state. Theoretically computed values of the exchange constants in 2 were obtained with DFT calculations and the ZILSH method and were in good agreement with the values obtained from the experimental data. Exchange constants obtained with ZILSH for 3 successfully rationalized the experimental S = 0 ground state. The combined work demonstrates the ligating flexibility of pyridyl-alcohol chelates and their usefulness in the synthesis of new polynuclear Fex clusters without requiring the copresence of carboxylate ligands.  相似文献

A new family of cyanide-based spin-crossover polymers with the general formula {Fe(5-Br-pmd)z[M(CN)x]y} [M=AgI (1), AuI (2), NiII (3), PdII (4), PtII (5); 5-Br-pmd=5-bromopyrimidine; z=1 or 2, x=2 or 4, and y=2 or 1] have been synthesized and characterized using single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), magnetic susceptibility measurements, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). At 293 K, compound 1 presents the monoclinic space group C2/c, whereas at 120 K, it changes to the monoclinic space group P21/c. At 293 K, the crystal structure of 1 displays an uninodal three-dimensional network whose nodes, constituted of FeII, lie at the inversion center of an elongated octahedron. The equatorial bond lengths are defined by the N atoms of four [AgI(CN)2]- groups belonging to two crystallographically nonequivalent AgI atoms, Ag(1) and Ag(2). They are shorter than those of the axial positions occupied by the N atoms of the 5-Br-pmd ligands. The Fe-N average bond length of 2.1657(7) A is consistent with a high-spin (HS) state for the FeII ions. At 120 K, the crystal structure changes refer mainly to the FeII environment. There are two crystallographically independent FeII ions at this temperature, Fe(1) and Fe(2), which adopt the HS and low-spin (LS) states, respectively. The average Fe-N bond length for Fe(1) [2.174(5) A] and Fe(2) [1.955(5) A] agrees well with the reported magnetic data at this temperature. The spin transition of the FeII ions labeled as Fe(1) is found to be centered at Tc downward arrow=149 K and Tc upward arrow=167 K and accompanied by a drastic change of color from orange (HS) to red (LS). Magnetic susceptibility measurements under applied hydrostatic pressure performed on 1 have shown a linear displacement of the transition to higher temperatures while the hysteresis width remains unaltered in the interval of pressures of 105 Pa to 0.34 GPa. A further increase of the pressure induces the spin transition in the Fe(2) ions, which is completely accomplished at 1.12 GPa (T1/2=162 K). Compounds 1 and 2 are isostructural, but 2 does not exhibit spin-transition properties; the FeII centers remain in the HS state in the temperature range investigated, 5-300 K. Compounds 3-5 are not similar or isostructural with 1. A two-dimensional structure for 3-5 has been proposed on the basis of analytical data and the XRPD patterns. Compounds 3-5 undergo first-order spin transition where the critical temperatures for the cooling (Tc downward arrow) and warming (Tc upward arrow) modes are 170 and 180 K (3), 204 and 214 K (4), and 197 and 223 K (5), respectively. It is worth mentioning the color change from yellow to orange observed in 3-5 upon spin transition. The thermodynamic parameters associated with the spin transition estimated from DSC measurements are DeltaH=6 kJ mol(-1) (1), 11 kJ mol(-1) (3), 16 kJ mol(-1) (4), and 16 kJ mol(-1) (5) and DeltaS=38 J K(-1) mol(-1) (1), 62 J K(-1) mol(-1) (3), 76 J K-1 mol(-1) (4), and 81 J K(-1) mol(-1) (5).  相似文献

A series of two-dimensional (2D) spin crossover complexes, [FeIIH3L(Me)][FeIIL(Me)]X (X-=ClO4-, BF4-, PF6-, AsF6-, SbF6-) 1-5, have been synthesized, where H3L(Me) denotes an hexadentate N6 tripodlike ligand containing three imidazole groups, tris[2-(((2-methylimidazol-4-yl)methylidene)amino)ethyl]amine. Compounds 1-5 exhibit a two-step (HS-[FeIIH3L(Me)](2+) + HS-[FeIIL(Me)]-) <--> (HS-[FeIIH3L(Me)](2+) + LS-[FeIIL(Me)]-) <--> (LS-[FeIIH3L(Me)](2+) + LS-[FeIIL(Me)]-) spin-transition. The crystal structure of [FeIIH3L(Me)][FeIIL(Me)]PF6 (3) was determined at 295, 200, and 100 K. The structure consists of homochiral extended 2D puckered sheets, in which the complementary [FeIIH3L(Me)](2+) and [FeIIL(Me)]- capped tripodlike components, linked together by imidazole-imidazolate hydrogen bonds, are alternately arrayed in an up-and-down mode. The Fe-N bond distances and angles revealed that the FeII sites of both constituting units are in the high-spin (HS) state at 295 K; at 200 K, the FeII sites of [FeIIH3L(Me)](2+) and [FeIIL(Me)]- are in the HS and low-spin (LS) states, respectively. The FeII sites of both constituting units are in the LS state at 100 K. The size of the counteranion affects significantly the intra- and interlayer interactions leading to modifications of the spin crossover behavior. The onset of the second spin-transition of the ClO4- (1) and BF4- (2) salts adjoins the first spin-transition, while a mixed (HS-[FeIIH3L(Me)](2+) + LS-[FeIIL(Me)]-) spin-state spans a temperature range as wide as 70 K for salts 3-5 with larger counteranions, PF6-, AsF6-, and SbF6-, respectively. Compounds 1 and 2 showed remarkable LIESST (light induced excited spin state trapping) and reverse-LIESST effects, whereas 3-5 showed no remarkable LIESST effect. The interlayer interaction due to the size of the counteranion is an important factor governing the spin crossover behavior and LIESST effect.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterization of new two-dimensional (2D) cyanide-bridged iron(II)-gold(I) bimetallic coordination polymers formulated, {Fe(3-Xpy)2[Au(CN)2]2} (py = pyridine; X = F (1), Cl (2), Br (3), and I (4)) and the clathrate derivative {Fe(3-Ipy)2[Au(CN)2]2}.1/2(3-Ipy) (5), are reported. The iron(II) ion lies in pseudoctahedral [FeN6] sites defined by four [Au(CN)2](-) bridging ligands and two 3-Xpy ligands occupying the equatorial and axial positions, respectively. Although only compounds 2 and 4 can be considered strictly isostructurals, all of the components of this family are made up of parallel stacks of corrugated {Fe[Au(CN)2]2}n grids. The grids are formed by edge sharing of {Fe4[Au(CN)2]4} pseudosquare moieties. The stacks are constituted of double layers sustained by short aurophilic contacts ranging from 3.016(2) to 3.1580(8) A. The Au...Au distances between consecutive double layers are in the range of 5.9562(9)-8.790(2) A. Compound 5, considered a clathrate derivative of 4, includes one-half of a 3-Ipy molecule per iron(II) atom between the double layers. Compound 1 undergoes a half-spin transition with critical temperatures Tc downward arrow = 140 K and Tc upward arrow = 145 K. The corresponding thermodynamic parameters derived from differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) are Delta H = 9.8 +/- 0.4 kJ mol(-1) and Delta S = 68.2 +/- 3 J K mol(-1). This spin transition is accompanied by a crystallographic phase transition from the monoclinic P2(1)/c space group to the triclinic P1 space group. At high temperatures, where 1 is 100% high-spin, there is only one crystallographically independent iron(II) site. In contrast, the low temperature structural analysis shows the occurrence of two crystallographically independent iron(II) sites with equal population, one high-spin and the other low-spin. Furthermore, 1 undergoes a complete two-step spin transition at pressures as high as 0.26 GPa. Compounds 2- 4 are high-spin iron(II) complexes according to their magnetic and [FeN6] structural characteristics. Compound 5, characterized for having two different iron(II) sites, displays a two-step spin transition with critical temperatures of Tc(1) = 155 K, Tc(2) downward arrow = 97 K, and Tc(2) upward arrow = 110 K. This change of spin state takes place in both sites simultaneously. All of these results are compared and discussed in the context of other {Fe(L) x [M(I)(CN)2]} coordination polymers, particularly those belonging to the homologous compounds {Fe(3-Xpy)2[Ag(CN)2]2} and their corresponding clathrate derivatives.  相似文献

The initial use of the anion of 6-hydroxymethyl-2,2'-bipyridine (hmbpH) as a chelate in coordination chemistry is described. The syntheses, crystal structures, and magnetochemical characterization are reported of four new iron(III) clusters [Fe5O2(OH)(O2CMe)5(hmbp)3](ClO4)2 (1) and [Fe6O2(OH)2(O2CR)6(hmbp)4](NO3)2 (R=Ph (2), Me (3), But (4); hmbpH=6-hydroxymethyl-2,2'-bipyridine). The reaction of Fe(ClO4)3, hmbpH, and sodium acetate in a 1:1: approximately 4 ratio in EtOH gave 1, and the reaction between [Fe3O(O2CR)6(H2O)3](NO3) (R=Ph, Me, But) and hmbpH in a 1:1 ratio in MeCN gave 2-4, respectively. The core of 1 consists of a [Fe4(mu3-O)2]8+ butterfly unit to which is attached a fifth Fe atom by bridging O atoms. The core of 2-4 also consists of a [Fe4(mu3-O)2]8+ butterfly unit to which are attached an Fe atom on either side by bridging O atoms. Variable-temperature (T) and -field (H) solid-state DC and AC magnetization (M) studies were carried out on complexes 1-4 in the 5.0-300 K range. Fitting of the data revealed that 1 has an S=5/2 ground state spin whereas 2-4 possess an S=5 ground state. Fitting of the M/NmicroB vs H/T data by matrix diagonalization and including only axial zero-field splitting (ZFS) gave values of the axial ZFS parameter |D| of 0.75, 0.36, 0.46, and 0.36 cm(-1) for 1-4, respectively.  相似文献
