Organization of gold nanoobjects by oligonucleotides has resulted in many three‐dimensional colloidal assemblies with diverse size, shape, and complexity; nonetheless, autonomous and temporal control during formation remains challenging. In contrast, living systems temporally and spatially self‐regulate formation of functional structures by internally orchestrating assembly and disassembly kinetics of dissipative biomacromolecular networks. We present a novel approach for fabricating four‐dimensional gold nanostructures by adding an additional dimension: time. The dissipative character of our system is achieved using exonuclease III digestion of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) fuel as an energy‐dissipating pathway. Temporal control over amorphous clusters composed of spherical gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and well‐defined core–satellite structures from gold nanorods (AuNRs) and AuNPs is demonstrated. Furthermore, the high specificity of DNA hybridization allowed us to demonstrate selective activation of the evolution of multiple architectures of higher complexity in a single mixture containing small and larger spherical AuNPs and AuNRs.  相似文献

We incorporate various gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) capped with different ligands in two‐dimensional films and three‐dimensional aggregates derived from N‐stearoyl‐L ‐alanine and N‐lauroyl‐L ‐alanine, respectively. The assemblies of N‐stearoyl‐L ‐alanine afforded stable films at the air–water interface. More compact assemblies were formed upon incorporation of AuNPs in the air–water interface of N‐stearoyl‐L ‐alanine. We then examined the effects of incorporation of various AuNPs functionalized with different capping ligands in three‐dimensional assemblies of N‐lauroyl‐L ‐alanine, a compound that formed a gel in hydrocarbons. The profound influence of nanoparticle incorporation into physical gels was evident from evaluation of various microscopic and bulk properties. The interaction of AuNPs with the gelator assembly was found to depend critically on the capping ligands protecting the Au surface of the gold nanoparticles. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) showed a long‐range directional assembly of certain AuNPs along the gel fibers. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images of the freeze‐dried gels and nanocomposites indicate that the morphological transformation in the composite microstructures depends significantly on the capping agent of the nanoparticles. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) showed that gel formation from sol occurred at a lower temperature upon incorporation of AuNPs having capping ligands that were able to align and noncovalently interact with the gel fibers. Rheological studies indicate that the gel–nanoparticle composites exhibit significantly greater viscoelasticity compared to the native gel alone when the capping ligands are able to interact through interdigitation into the gelator assembly. Thus, it was possible to define a clear relationship between the materials and the molecular‐level properties by means of manipulation of the information inscribed on the NP surface.  相似文献

A template synthesis allows the preparation of monodisperse nanoparticles with high reproducibility and independent from self‐assembly requirements. Tailor‐made polymer cages were used for the preparation of nanoparticles, which were made of cross‐linked macromolecules with pendant thiol groups. Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were prepared in the polymer cages in situ, by using different amounts of cages versus gold. The polymer cages exhibited a certain capacity, below which the AuNPs could be grown with excellent control over the size and shape. Control experiments with a linear diblock copolymer showed a continuous increase in the AuNP size as the gold feed increased. This completely different behavior regarding the AuNP size evolution was attributed to the flexibility of the polymer chain depending on cross‐linking. Moreover, the polymer cages were suitable for the encapsulation of AgNPs, PdNPs, and PtNPs by the in situ method.  相似文献

We report core@satellite Janus mesoporous silica‐Pt@Au (JMPA) nanomotors with pH‐responsive multi‐phoretic propulsion. The JMPA nanomotors first undergo self‐diffusiophoretic propulsion in 3.0 % H2O2 due to the isolation of the Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) from the PtNPs layer. Then the weak acidity of H2O2 can trigger the disassembly and reassembly of the AuNPs, resulting in the Janus distribution of large AuNPs aggregates. Such reconstruction of JMPA leads to the contact between PtNPs and AuNPs aggregates, thus changing the propulsion mechanism to self‐electrophoresis. The asymmetric and aggregated AuNPs also enable the generation of a thermal gradient under laser irradiation, which propels the JMPA nanomotors by self‐thermophoresis. Such multi‐phoretic propulsion offers considerable promise for developing advanced nanomachines with a stimuli‐responsive switch of propulsion modes in biomedical applications.  相似文献

The visible‐light response of Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) assembled on rGO through different molecular bridges was investigated by transient photocurrent generation. We prepared rGO with two self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs), one linear and the other with aromatic triazoles through a click cycloaddition reaction. A fivefold photocurrent enhancement was observed for triazole linkers over the aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (APTMS) linker. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and impedance measurements also suggest fast electron transfer on account of the low resistance offered by the click‐modified rGO surface whereby introduction of triazoles offers the efficient bridge between the donor AuNPs and acceptor rGO.  相似文献

The controlled assembly of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with the size of quantum dots into predictable structures is extremely challenging as it requires the quantitatively and topologically precise placement of anisotropic domains on their small, approximately spherical surfaces. We herein address this problem by using polyoxometalate leaving groups to transform 2 nm diameter gold cores into reactive building blocks with hydrophilic and hydrophobic surface domains whose relative sizes can be precisely tuned to give dimers, clusters, and larger micelle‐like organizations. Using cryo‐TEM imaging and 1H DOSY NMR spectroscopy, we then provide an unprecedented “solution‐state” picture of how the micelle‐like structures respond to hydrophobic guests by encapsulating them within 250 nm diameter vesicles whose walls are comprised of amphiphilic AuNP membranes. These findings provide a versatile new option for transforming very small AuNPs into precisely tailored building blocks for the rational design of functional water‐soluble assemblies.  相似文献

A series of lipophilic gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) circa 5 nm in diameter and having a mixed organic layer consisting of 1‐dodecanethiol and 1‐(11‐mercaptoundecyl) pyridinium bromide was synthesised by reacting tetraoctylammonium bromide stabilised AuNPs in toluene with different mixtures of the two thiolate ligands. A bidentate ω‐alkylthiolate calix[4]arene derivative was instead used as a functional protecting layer on AgNPs of approximately 3 nm. The functionalised nanoparticles were characterised by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and by UV/Vis and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Recognition of the pyridinium moieties loaded on the AuNPs by the calix[4]arene units immobilised on the AgNPs was demonstrated in solution of weakly polar solvents by UV/Vis titrations and DLS measurements. The extent of Au‐AgNPs aggregation, shown through the low‐energy shift of their surface plasmon bands (SPB), was strongly dependent on the loading of the pyridinium moieties present in the organic layer of the AuNPs. Extensive aggregation between dodecanethiol‐capped AuNPs and the Ag calix[4]arene‐functionalised NPs was also promoted by the action of a simple N‐octyl pyridinium difunctional supramolecular linker. This linker can interdigitate through its long fatty tail in the organic layer of the dodecanethiol‐capped AuNPs, and simultaneously interact through its pyridinium moiety with the calix[4]arene units at the surface of the modified AgNPs.  相似文献

Targeting amyloid‐β (Aβ)‐induced complex neurotoxicity has received considerable attention in the therapeutic and preventive treatment of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The complex pathogenesis of AD suggests that it requires comprehensive treatment, and drugs with multiple functions against AD are more desirable. Herein, AuNPs@POMD‐pep (AuNPs: gold nanoparticles, POMD: polyoxometalate with Wells–Dawson structure, pep: peptide) were designed as a novel multifunctional Aβ inhibitor. AuNPs@POMD‐pep shows synergistic effects in inhibiting Aβ aggregation, dissociating Aβ fibrils and decreasing Aβ‐mediated peroxidase activity and Aβ‐induced cytotoxicity. By taking advantage of AuNPs as vehicles that can cross the blood–brain barrier (BBB), AuNPs@POMD‐pep can cross the BBB and thus overcome the drawbacks of small‐molecule anti‐AD drugs. Thus, this work provides new insights into the design and synthesis of inorganic nanoparticles as multifunctional therapeutic agents for treatment of AD.  相似文献

Photothermal therapy based on gold nanostructures has been widely investigated as a state‐of‐the‐art noninvasive therapy approach. Because single nanoparticles cannot harvest sufficient energy, self‐assemblies of small plasmonic particles into large aggregates are required for enhanced photothermal performance. Self‐assembled gold nanorods in lipid bilayer‐modified microcapsules are shown to localize at tumor sites, generate vapor bubbles under near‐infrared light exposure, and subsequently damage tumor tissues. The polyelectrolyte multilayer enables dense packing of gold nanorods during the assembly process, which leads to the formation of vapor bubbles around the excited capsules. The resulting vapor bubbles achieve a high efficiency of suppressing tumor growth compared to single gold nanorods. In vivo experiments demonstrated the ability of soft‐polymer multilayer microcapsules to cross the biological barriers of the body and localize at target tissues.  相似文献

A simple and green approach for the synthesis of well‐stabilized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) using gum Acacia (GA) is presented here. The gum acacia acts as the reductant and stabilizer. The synthesized gold nanoparticles were characterized by using ultraviolet visible (UV‐Vis), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), x‐ray diffraction (XRD), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques. The UV‐Vis study revealed a distinct surface plasmon resonance at 520 – 550 nm, due to the formation of AuNPs. FTIR analysis showed the evidence that –OH groups present in the gum matrix were responsible in reducing the tetra chloroauric acid into AuNPs. XRD studies confirmed the formation of well crystalline nanoparticles with fcc structure and the particle size ranges from 4 – 29 nm, as indicated by TEM analysis. The synthesized gold nanoparticles exhibited homogeneous catalytic activity. The two model reactions studied were the reduction of p‐nitro phenol and the reduction of hexacyanoferrate (III) by borohydride ions. Both the reactions were monitored by UV‐Vis spectroscopy. The kinetic investigations were carried out for the AuNPs‐catalyzed reactions at different temperatures and different amount of catalyst.  相似文献

DNA origami has rapidly emerged as a powerful and programmable method to construct functional nanostructures. However, the size limitation of approximately 100 nm in classic DNA origami hampers its plasmonic applications. Herein, we report a jigsaw‐puzzle‐like assembly strategy mediated by gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) to break the size limitation of DNA origami. We demonstrated that oligonucleotide‐functionalized AuNPs function as universal joint units for the one‐pot assembly of parent DNA origami of triangular shape to form sub‐microscale super‐origami nanostructures. AuNPs anchored at predefined positions of the super‐origami exhibited strong interparticle plasmonic coupling. This AuNP‐mediated strategy offers new opportunities to drive macroscopic self‐assembly and to fabricate well‐defined nanophotonic materials and devices.  相似文献

Aqueous solutions of graphene oxide (GO) and citrate-stabilised gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) are two classic, negatively charged colloids. Using the surface plasmon resonance spectra of AuNPs as a probe, we illustrate how the two like-charged colloids interact with each other and in so doing, reveal the unique solution behaviour of GO. We demonstrate that the electrical double layer of the GO sheets in water plays a key role in controlling the interaction between GO and AuNPs, which displays a one-way gate effect. It is shown that GO can capture and disperse AuNPs in water in a controllable fashion, without the need for additional chemical linkers. This discovery allows the successful synthesis of uncapped, yet solution-dispersible metal-nanoparticle assemblies. Such metal nanostructures have long been pursued for nano-plasmonics and sensing applications, but have remained difficult to prepare using conventional polymer dispersants. This work also makes clear that the combination of the two-dimensional conformation of GO along with its large molecular size and self-contained functional groups allows it to act as a unique soluble nanocarrier/substrate (the thinnest, functionalised flat substrate possible in nature) for the synthesis of new, soluble functional materials.  相似文献

Gold nanoparticles of different morphologies have been synthesized on a silica‐based organic‐inorganic hybrid material for catalytic applications. The gold nanoparticles formations proceed through in situ chemical reduction of the AuCl4? anions previously adsorbed on 3‐(1‐imidazolyl)propyl‐silsesquioxane, which plays the role of substrate and stabilizer. Two distinct reducing agents, sodium citrate and sodium borohydride, were employed to generate gold nanoparticles of different sizes. UV‐vis diffuse reflectance as well as transmission electron microscopy were employed to evaluate the particle’s morphology. Modified carbon paste electrodes were prepared from these materials and their electrochemical behavior investigated using potassium ferrocyanide and 4‐nitrophenol as redox model compounds. Both AuNPs‐modified electrodes decreased the overpotential of 4‐nitrophenol reduction by around 90 mV compared to the unmodified electrode as evidenced by cyclic voltammetry experiment. However, the smaller diameter particles (borohydride‐reduced) produced more significant catalytic effect as a consequence of their large surface area. Regarding the sensing parameters, the sensitivity is higher for the borohydride‐reduced AuNPs while the values of limit of detection are of the same order of magnitude. Thus, the detection limit and sensitivity are 70.0±0.6 nM and 187 µA/mM for the citrate‐reduced AuNPs; and 75.0±2.2 nM and 238 µA/mM for the borohydride‐reduced AuNPs.  相似文献

The Au?S bond is the classic way to functionalize gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). However, cleavage of the bond by biothiols and other chemicals is a long‐standing problem hindering practical applications, especially in cells. Instead of replacing the thiol by a carbene or selenol for stronger adsorption, it is now shown that the Pt?S bond is much more stable, fully avoiding cleavage by biothiols. AuNPs were deposited with a thin layer of platinum, and an AuNP@Pt‐S nanoflare was constructed to detect the miRNA‐21 microRNA in living cells. This design retained the optical and cellular uptake properties of DNA‐functionalized AuNPs, while showing high‐fidelity signaling. It discriminated target cancer cells even in a mixed‐cell culture system, where the Au‐S based nanoflare was less sensitive. Compared to previous methods of changing the ligand chemistry, coating a Pt shell is more accessible, and previously developed methods for AuNPs can be directly adapted.  相似文献

A one‐step method is reported to synthesize hybrid gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) by reduction of HAuCl4 in acetic solution in the presence of collagen (Col), dicarboxylic acid‐terminated polyethylene glycol (PEG), and cetyltetrammonium bromide (CTAB) mixed with hydoxyapatite (HAP) as surfactants. Such formation process of AuNPs was shown to be responsible for purple stains naturally formed on Egyptianizing archaeological gilded ivories from 8th BC Syria. The understanding of this formation mechanism, which most likely involves a step with hybrid AuNPs, allows the establishing of an authenticity marker of ancient gold‐plated ivories.  相似文献

This study reports the synthesis of poly(ethylene glycol)methyl ether‐block‐poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (MPEG‐b‐PGMA) diblock, and poly(ethylene glycol)methyl ether‐block‐poly(glycidyl methacrylate)‐block‐poly(methyl methacrylate) (MPEG‐b‐PGMA‐b‐PMMA) triblock copolymers via atom transfer radical polymerization and their self‐assembly behaviors in aqueous media by using acetone as cosolvent. These block copolymers formed near monodisperse core–shell micelles having cross‐linkable cores. Two types of cross‐linked micelles, namely spherical MPEG‐b‐PGMA core cross‐linked (CCL) micelles and MPEG‐b‐PGMA‐b‐PMMA interlayer cross‐linked (ILCL) micelles, were also successfully prepared from these block copolymers by using various bifunctional cross‐linkers such as hexamethylenediamine (HMDA), ethylenediamine (EDA), and 2‐aminoethanethiol (AET). Cross‐linking was successfully carried out via ring‐opening reactions of epoxy residues of hydrophobic‐cores with primary amine or thiol groups of bifunctional cross‐linkers. Finally, these cross‐linked micelles were successfully used as nanoreactors in the synthesis of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) in aqueous media. Both CCL and ILCL micelles were found to be good stabilizers for AuNPs in aqueous media. Both CCL‐ and ILCL‐stabilized AuNP dispersions were stable for a long time without any size changes and flocculation at room temperature. These cross‐linked stabilized AuNPs exhibited good catalytic activities in the reduction of p‐nitrophenol. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Materials with Janus structures are attractive for wide applications in materials science. Although extensive efforts in the synthesis of Janus particles have been reported, the synthesis of sub‐10 nm Janus nanoparticles is still challenging. Herein, the synthesis of Janus gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) based on interface‐directed self‐assembly is reported. Polystyrene (PS) colloidal particles with AuNPs on the surface were prepared by interface‐directed self‐assembly, and the colloidal particles were used as templates for the synthesis of Janus AuNPs. To prepare colloidal particles, thiol‐terminated polystyrene (PS‐SH) was dissolved in toluene and citrate‐stabilized AuNPs were dispersed in aqueous solution. Upon mixing the two solutions, PS‐SH chains were grafted to the surface of AuNPs and amphiphilic AuNPs were formed at the liquid–liquid interface. PS colloidal particles decorated with AuNPs on the surfaces were prepared by adding the emulsion to excess methanol. On the surface, AuNPs were partially embedded in the colloidal particles. The outer regions of the AuNPs were exposed to the solution and were functionalized through the grafting of atom‐transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) initiator. Poly[2‐(dimethamino)ethyl methacrylate] (PDMAEMA) on AuNPs were prepared by surface‐initiated ATRP. After centrifugation and dissolving the colloidal particles in tetrahydrofuran (THF), Janus AuNPs with PS and PDMAEMA on two hemispheres were obtained. In acidic pH, Janus AuNPs are amphiphilic and are able to emulsify oil droplets in water; in basic pH, the Janus AuNPs are hydrophobic. In mixtures of THF/methanol at a volume ratio of 1:5, the Janus AuNPs self‐assemble into bilayer structures with collapsed PS in the interiors and solvated PDMAEMA at the exteriors of the structures.  相似文献

Binding DNA on nanoparticles was pursued to form nanoplatform for formation of non‐viral gene system. Carboxyl derivatized gold‐aryl nanoparticles can bind with biodegradable cationic polyelectrolytes such as polydiallyldimethylammonium chloride (PDADMAC). In our study, we used gold‐aryl nanoparticles (AuNPs) treated with PDADMAC to form conjugates with non‐thiol or non‐disulfide modified oligonucleotide DNA. Both AuNPs‐DNA and PDADMAC‐AuNPs‐DNA biomaterials were characterized using UV–Vis, dynamic light scattering (DLS), atomic force microscopy (AFM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and agarose gel electrophoresis. UV–Vis showed a red shift in the plasmon peak as compared with unconjugated AuNPs. DLS measurements also showed difference in the size of AuNPs‐DNA and PDADMAC‐AuNPs‐DNA. AFM and TEM results showed proper conjugation of DNA with AuNPs. Gel electrophoresis proved the presence of interaction between PDADMAC‐AuNPs and negatively charged DNA. The binding of DNA in the described bioconjugate enhanced its protection against nuclease degradation and prolonged its presence in the digestive environment of DNase‐I. From the results we expect that these biomaterials can be used in nanomedicine with emphasis on non‐viral gene system.  相似文献

In principle, incorporating nanoparticles into growing crystals offers an attractive and highly convenient route for the production of a wide range of novel nanocomposites. Herein we describe an efficient aqueous route that enables the spatially controlled occlusion of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) within ZnO crystals at up to 20 % by mass. Depending on the precise synthesis protocol, these AuNPs can be (i) solely located within a central region, (ii) uniformly distributed throughout the ZnO host crystal or (iii) confined to a surface layer. Remarkably, such efficient occlusion is mediated by a non‐ionic water‐soluble polymer, poly(glycerol monomethacrylate)70 (G70), which is chemically grafted to the AuNPs; pendent cis‐diol side groups on this steric stabilizer bind Zn2+ cations, which promotes nanoparticle interaction with the growing ZnO crystals. Finally, uniform occlusion of G70‐AuNPs within this inorganic host leads to faster UV‐induced photodegradation of a model dye.  相似文献

The precise functionalization of self‐assembled nanostructures with spatial and stereocontrol is a major objective of nanotechnology and holds great promise for many applications. Herein, the nanoscale addressability of DNA origami was exploited to develop a precise copy‐machine‐like platform that can transfer two‐dimensional oligonucleotide patterns onto the surface of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) through a deliberately designed toehold‐initiated DNA displacement reaction. This strategy of DNA‐origami‐based nanoimprinting lithography (DONIL) demonstrates high precision in controlling the valence and valence angles of AuNPs. These DNA‐decorated AuNPs act as precursors in the construction of discrete AuNP clusters with desired chirality.  相似文献
