Consider the scattering of a time-harmonic electromagnetic plane wave by an open cavity embedded in a perfect electrically conducting infinite ground plane, where the electromagnetic wave propagation is governed by the Maxwell equations. The upper half-space is filled with a lossless homogeneous medium above the flat ground surface; while the interior of the cavity is assumed to be filled with a lossy homogeneous medium accounting for the energy absorption. The inverse problem is to determine the cavity structure or the shape of the cavity from the tangential trace of the electric field measured on the aperture of the cavity. In this paper, results on a global uniqueness and a local stability are established for the inverse problem. A crucial step in the proof of the stability is to obtain the existence and characterization of the domain derivative of the electric field with respect to the shape of the cavity.  相似文献

We consider the inverse problem to determine the shape of a open cavity embedded in the infinite ground plane from knowledge of the far-field pattern of the scattering of TM polarization. For its approximate solution we propose a regularized Newton iteration scheme. For a foundation of Newton type methods we establish the Fréchet differentiability of solution to the scattering problem with respect to the boundary of the cavity. Some numerical examples of the feasibility of the method are presented.  相似文献

Consider the scattering of a time-harmonic electromagnetic plane wave by an arbitrarily shaped and filled cavity embedded in a perfect electrically conducting infinite ground plane.A method of symmetric coupling of finite element and boundary integral equations is presented for the solutions of electromagnetic scattering in both transverse electric and magnetic polarization cases.Given the incident field, the direct problem is to determine the field distribution from the known shape of the cavity; while the inverse problem is to determine the shape of the cavity from the measurement of the field on an artificial boundary enclosing the cavity. In this paper, both the direct and inverse scattering problems are discussed based on a symmetric coupling method.Variational formulations for the direct scattering problem are presented, existence and uniqueness of weak solutions are studied, and the domain derivatives of the field with respect to the cavity shape are derived.Uniqueness and local stability results are established in terms of the inverse problem.  相似文献

Under some generic assumptions we prove the unique continuation property for the two-dimensional inhomogeneous anisotropic elasticity system. Having established the unique continuation property, we then investigate the inverse problem of reconstructing the inclusion or cavity embedded in a plane elastic body with inhomogeneous anisotropic medium by infinitely many localized boundary measurements.

In this paper, we give a hybrid method to numerically solve the inverse open cavity scattering problem for cavity shape, given the scattered solution on the opening of the cavity. This method is a hybrid between an iterative method and an integral equations method for solving the Cauchy problem. The idea of this hybrid method is simple, the operation is easy, and the computation cost is small. Numerical experiments show the feasibility of this method, even for cases with noise.  相似文献

In this paper,we study the electromagnetic scattering from a two dimen- sional large rectangular open cavity embedded in an infinite ground plane, which is modelled by Helmholtz equations.By introducing nonlocal transparent boundary con- ditions, the problem in the open cavity is reduced to a bounded domain problem.A hypersingular integral operator and a weakly singular integral operator are involved in the TM and TE cases, respectively.A new second-order Toeplitz type approximation and a second-order finite difference scheme are proposed for approximating the hyper- singular integral operator on the aperture and the Helmholtz in the cavity, respectively. The existence and uniqueness of the numerical solution in the TE case are established for arbitrary wavenumbers.A fast algorithm for the second-order approximation is pro- posed for solving the cavity model with layered media.Numerical results show the second-order accuracy and efficiency of the fast algorithm.More important is that the algorithm is easy to implement as a preconditioner for cavity models with more general media.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the mathematical analysis of the scattering of a time‐harmonic electromagnetic plane wave by an open and overfilled cavity that is embedded in a perfect electrically conducting infinite ground plane, where the electromagnetic wave propagation is governed by the Maxwell equations. Above the flat ground surface and the open aperture of the cavity, the space is assumed to be filled with a homogeneous medium with a constant permittivity and permeability, whereas the interior of the cavity is filled with some inhomogeneous medium with a variable permittivity and permeability. The scattering problem is modeled as a boundary value problem over a bounded domain, with transparent boundary condition proposed on the hemisphere enclosing the inhomogeneity represented by the cavity. The existence and uniqueness of the weak solution for the model problem are established by using a variational approach. The perfectly matched layer (PML) method is investigated to truncate the unbounded electromagnetic cavity scattering problem. It is shown that the truncated PML problem attains a unique solution. An explicit error estimate is given between the solution of the original scattering problem and that of the truncated PML problem. The error estimate implies that the PML solution converges exponentially to the original cavity scattering problem by increasing either the PML medium parameter or the PML layer thickness. The convergence result is expected to be useful for determining the PML medium parameter in the computational electromagnetic scattering problem. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The inverse problem for the FitzHugh-Nagumo and Aliev-Panfilov models describing wave propagation in excitable media is considered. The problem lies in determining a localized initial condition from measurements on the external boundary of a plane region. A numerical method for solving the inverse problem is proposed, and the results from a numerical solution of the inverse problem for regions similar to different sections of a heart are presented.  相似文献

The inverse problem of determining two convection coefficients of an ellipticpartial differential equation by Dirichlet to Neumann map is discussed. It is well knownthat this is a severely ill-posed problem with high nonlinearity.By the inverse scatteringtechnique for first order elliptic system in the plane and the theory of generalized analyticfunctions,we give a constructive method for this inverse problem.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to construct the inverse scattering transform for the focusing Ablowitz‐Ladik equation with nonzero boundary conditions at infinity. Both the direct and the inverse problems are formulated in terms of a suitable uniform variable; the inverse problem is posed as a Riemann‐Hilbert problem on a doubly connected curve in the complex plane, and solved by properly accounting for the asymptotic dependence of eigenfunctions and scattering data on the Ablowitz‐Ladik potential.  相似文献

We study the unique solvability of the inverse problem of determining the leading coefficient in the parabolic equation on the plane with coefficients depending on both time and spatial variables under the condition of integral overdetermination with respect to time. We obtain sufficient conditions for the unique solvability of the inverse problem. We present nontrivial examples of problems for which such conditions hold. It is shown that the imposed conditions necessarily hold if either the time interval is sufficiently large or the space interval on which the problem is considered is sufficiently small.  相似文献

In this paper the forward and inverse scattering problems for the nonstationary Dirac-type systems on the plane are considered. The scattering data for the inverse scattering problem (ISP) is defined and a unique restoration of the potential from the scattering data is proved.  相似文献

The inverse problem of determining the source for the heat equation in a bounded domain on the plane is studied. The trace of the solution of the direct problem on two straight line segments inside the domain is given as overdetermination (i.e., additional information on the solution of the direct problem). A Fredholm alternative theorem for this problem is proved, and sufficient conditions for its unique solvability are obtained. The inverse problem is considered in classes of smooth functions whose derivatives satisfy the Hölder condition.  相似文献

We consider the interior inverse scattering problem of recovering the shape and the surface impedance of an impenetrable partially coated cavity from a knowledge of measured scatter waves due to point sources located on a closed curve inside the cavity. First, we prove uniqueness of the inverse problem, namely, we show that both the shape of the cavity and the impedance function on the coated part are uniquely determined from exact data. Then, based on the linear sampling method, we propose an inversion scheme for determining both the shape and the boundary impedance. Finally, we present some numerical examples showing the validity of our method.  相似文献

An ordered median function is used in location theory to generalize a class of problems, including median and center problems. In this paper we consider the complexity of inverse ordered 1-median problems on the plane and on trees, where the multipliers are sorted nondecreasingly. Based on the convexity of the objective function, we prove that the problems with variable weights or variable coordinates on the line are NP-hard. Then we can directly get the NP-hardness result for the corresponding problem on the plane. We finally develop a cubic time algorithm that solves the inverse convex ordered 1-median problem on trees with relaxation on modification bounds.  相似文献

Consider a time‐harmonic electromagnetic plane wave incident on a cavity in a ground plane. The physical process is modelled by Maxwell's equations. In this paper, integral representations of the solutions to the model problem in both fundamental polarizations are derived and studied. Existence and uniqueness of the solutions for the integral equations are established. The integral equations approach forms a basis for numerical solution of the model problem. In particular, for each fundamental polarization, an integral formulation with Gårding‐type estimates is derived. These formulations provide a basis for variational boundary element methods for solving the cavity problem. The Gårding‐type estimates imply convergence results for conforming boundary element methods. Copyright © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd  相似文献
