An exceptionally efficient ruthenium‐based catalyst for olefin oxidation has been designed by exploiting N,N′‐bis(pyridylidene)oxalamide (bisPYA) as a donor‐flexible ligand. The dynamic donor ability of the bisPYA ligand, imparted by variable zwitterionic and neutral resonance structure contributions, paired with the redox activity of ruthenium provided catalytic activity for Lemieux–Johnson‐type oxidative cleavage of olefins to efficiently prepare ketones and aldehydes. The ruthenium bisPYA complex significantly outperforms state‐of‐the‐art systems and displays extraordinary catalytic activity in this oxidation, reaching turnover frequencies of 650 000 h?1 and turnover numbers of several millions.  相似文献

Polypyridyl and related ligands have been widely used for the development of water oxidation catalysts. Supposedly these ligands are oxidation‐resistant and can stabilize high‐oxidation‐state intermediates. In this work a series of ruthenium(II) complexes [Ru(qpy)(L)2]2+ (qpy=2,2′:6′,2′′:6′′,2′′′‐quaterpyridine; L=substituted pyridine) have been synthesized and found to catalyze CeIV‐driven water oxidation, with turnover numbers of up to 2100. However, these ruthenium complexes are found to function only as precatalysts; first, they have to be oxidized to the qpy‐N,N′′′‐dioxide (ONNO) complexes [Ru(ONNO)(L)2]3+ which are the real catalysts for water oxidation.  相似文献

A novel and practical catalytic method for efficient and highly selective oxidation of a wide range of benzylic, allylic, aliphatic, primary, and secondary alcohols to the corresponding aldehydes and ketones using tetrabutylammonium peroxomonosulfate catalyzed by tetradentate Schiff base–MnIII complexes has been developed. Electron‐deficient and hindered alcohols required longer reaction times for oxidation in this catalytic system. The electron‐poor and hindered salicylidene ring of the ligand enhanced the catalytic activity and stability of Mn catalysts. The desired turnover numbers obtained in the oxidation reactions indicated the high efficiency and relative stability of these simple Schiff base complexes in this catalytic system.  相似文献

A ditopic benzobis(carbene) ligand precursor was prepared that contained a chelating pyridyl moiety to ensure co‐planarity of the carbene ligand and the coordination plane of a bound octahedral metal center. Bimetallic ruthenium complexes comprising this ditopic ligand [L4Ru‐C,N‐bbi‐C,N‐RuL4] were obtained by a transmetalation methodology (C,N‐bbi‐C,N=benzobis(N‐pyridyl‐N′‐methyl‐imidazolylidene). The two metal centers are electronically decoupled when the ruthenium is in a pseudotetrahedral geometry imparted by a cymene spectator ligand (L4=[(cym)Cl]). Ligand exchange of the Cl?/cymene ligands for two bipyridine or four MeCN ligands induced a change of the coordination geometry to octahedral. As a consequence, the ruthenium centers, separated through space by more than 10 Å, become electronically coupled, which is evidenced by two distinctly different metal‐centered oxidation processes that are separated by 134 mV (L4=[(bpy)2]; bpy=2,2′‐bipyridine) and 244 mV (L4=[(MeCN)4]), respectively. Hush analysis of the intervalence charge‐transfer bands in the mixed‐valent species indicates substantial valence delocalization in both complexes (delocalization parameter Γ=0.41 and 0.37 in the bpy and MeCN complexes, respectively). Spectroelectrochemical measurements further indicated that the mixed‐valent RuII/RuIII species and the fully oxidized RuIII/RuIII complexes gradually decompose when bound to MeCN ligands, whereas the bpy spectators significantly enhance the stability. These results demonstrate the efficiency of carbenes and, in particular, of the bbi ligand scaffold for mediating electron transfer and for the fabrication of molecular redox switches. Moreover, the relevance of spectator ligands is emphasized for tailoring the degree of electronic communication through the benzobis(carbene) linker.  相似文献

Water‐soluble arene–ruthenium complexes coordinated with readily available aniline‐based ligands were successfully employed as highly active catalysts in the C?H bond activation and arylation of 2‐phenylpyridine with aryl halides in water. A variety of (hetero)aryl halides were also used for the ortho‐C?H bond arylation of 2‐phenylpyridine to afford the corresponding ortho‐ monoarylated products as major products in moderate to good yields. Our investigations, including time‐scaled NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry studies, evidenced that the coordinating aniline‐based ligands, having varying electronic and steric properties, had a significant influence on the catalytic activity of the resulting arene–ruthenium–aniline‐based complexes. Moreover, mass spectrometry identification of the cycloruthenated species, {(η6‐arene)Ru(κ2C,N‐phenylpyridine)}+, and several ligand‐coordinated cycloruthenated species, such as [(η6‐arene)Ru(4‐methylaniline)(κ2C,N‐phenylpyridine)]+, found during the reaction of 2‐phenylpyridine with the arene–ruthenium–aniline complexes further authenticated the crucial roles of these species in the observed highly active and tuned catalyst. At last, the structures of a few of the active catalysts were also confirmed by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction studies.  相似文献

Highly efficient Oppenauer-type oxidation of secondary alcohols to the corresponding ketones has been realized by means of the ruthenium(II) complex catalysts bearing a 2-(benzoimidazol-2-yl)-6-(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)pyridine ligand. The oxidation reaction underwent in the presence of acetone as oxidant under mild conditions, reaching final TOF values up to 3960 h−1. The hemilability of the ligand is attributed to the high catalytic activity of these Ru(II) complexes.  相似文献

The rational optimization of homogeneous catalysts requires ligand platforms that are easily tailored to improve catalytic performance. Here, it is demonstrated that pyridylidene amides (PYAs) provide such a platform to custom-shape transfer hydrogenation catalysts with exceptional activity. Specifically, a series of meta-PYA pincer ligands with differently substituted PYA units has been synthezised and coordinated to ruthenium(II) centres to form bench-stable tris-acetonitrile complexes [Ru(R-PYA-pincer)(MeCN)3](PF6)2 (R=OMe, Me, H, Cl, CF3). Analytic studies including 1H NMR spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and X-ray crystallography reveal a direct influence of the substituents on the electronic properties of the ruthenium center. The complexes are active in the catalytic transfer hydrogenation of ketones, with activities directly encoded by the PYA substitution pattern. Their perfomance improves further upon exchange of an ancillary MeCN ligand with PPh3. While complexes [Ru(R-PYA-pincer)(PPh3)(MeCN)2](PF6)2 were only isolated for R=H, Me, an in situ protocol was developed to generate these complexes in situ for R=OMe, Cl, CF3 by using a 1:2 ratio of the complexes and PPh3. This in situ protocol together with a short catalyst pre-activation provided highly active catalytic systems. The most active pre-catalyst featured the methoxy-substituted PYA ligand and reached turnover frenquencies of 210 000 h−1 under an exceptionally low catalyst loading of 25 ppm for the benchmark substrate benzophenone, representing one of the most active transfer hydrogenation systems known to date.  相似文献

The new complexes were tested for their catalytic activity towards the oxidation of benzylalcohol to benzaldehyde.  相似文献

A cyclic dinuclear ruthenium(bda) (bda: 2,2’-bipyridine-6,6’-dicarboxylate) complex equipped with oligo(ethylene glycol)-functionalized axial calix[4]arene ligands has been synthesized for homogenous catalytic water oxidation. This novel Ru(bda) macrocycle showed significantly increased catalytic activity in chemical and photocatalytic water oxidation compared to the archetype mononuclear reference [Ru(bda)(pic)2]. Kinetic investigations, including kinetic isotope effect studies, disclosed a unimolecular water nucleophilic attack mechanism of this novel dinuclear water oxidation catalyst (WOC) under the involvement of the second coordination sphere. Photocatalytic water oxidation with this cyclic dinuclear Ru complex using [Ru(bpy)3]Cl2 as a standard photosensitizer revealed a turnover frequency of 15.5 s−1 and a turnover number of 460. This so far highest photocatalytic performance reported for a Ru(bda) complex underlines the potential of this water-soluble WOC for artificial photosynthesis.  相似文献

Ligand design is crucial for the development of new catalysts and materials with new properties. Herein, the synthesis and unique hemilabile coordination properties of new bis-pyridylidene amine (bis-PYE) ligands to palladium, and preliminary catalytic activity of these complexes in formic acid dehydrogenation are described. The synthetic pathway to form cationic complexes [Pd(bis-PYE)Cl(L)]X with a cis-coordinated N,N-bidentate bis-PYE ligand is flexible and provides access to a diversity of PdII complexes with different ancillary ligands (L=pyridine, DMAP, PPh3, Cl, P(OMe)3). The 1H NMR chemical shift of the trans-positioned PYE N−CH3 unit is identified as a convenient and diagnostic handle to probe the donor properties of these ancillary ligands and demonstrates the electronic flexibility of the PYE ligand sites. In the presence of a base, the originally cis-coordinated bis-PYE ligand adopts a N,N,N-tridentate coordination mode with the two PYE units in mutual trans position. This cis–trans isomerization is reverted in presence of an acid, demonstrating a unique structural and steric flexibility of the bis-PYE ligand at palladium in addition to its electronic adaptability. The palladium complexes are active in formic acid dehydrogenation to H2 and CO2. The catalytic performance is directly dependent on the ligand bonding mode, the nature of the ancillary ligand, the counteranion, and additives. The most active system features a bidentate bis-PYE ligand, PPh3 as ancillary ligand and accomplishes turnover frequencies up to 525 h−1 in the first hour and turnover numbers of nearly 1000, which is the highest activity reported for palladium-based catalysts to date.  相似文献

Four new charge‐neutral ruthenium(II) complexes containing dianionic Schiff base and isoquinoline or 4‐picoline ligands were synthesized and characterized by NMR and ESI‐MS spectroscopies, elemental analysis, and X‐ray diffraction. The complexes exhibited excellent chemical water oxidation activity and high stability under acidic conditions (pH 1.0) using (NH4)2Ce(NO3)6 as a sacrificial electron acceptor. The high catalytic activities of these complexes for water oxidation were sustained for more than 10 h at low concentrations. High turnover numbers of up to 3200 were achieved. A water nucleophilic attack mechanism was proposed. A RuV?O intermediate was detected during the catalytic cycle by high‐resolution mass spectrometry.  相似文献

A new family of nickel(II) complexes of the type [Ni(L)(CH3CN)](BPh4)2, where L=N‐methyl‐N,N′,N′‐tris(pyrid‐2‐ylmethyl)‐ethylenediamine (L1, 1 ), N‐benzyl‐N,N′,N′‐tris(pyrid‐2‐yl‐methyl)‐ethylenediamine (L2, 2 ), N‐methyl‐N,N′‐bis(pyrid‐2‐ylmethyl)‐N′‐(6‐methyl‐pyrid‐2‐yl‐methyl)‐ethylenediamine (L3, 3 ), N‐methyl‐N,N′‐bis(pyrid‐2‐ylmethyl)‐N′‐(quinolin‐2‐ylmethyl)‐ethylenediamine (L4, 4 ), and N‐methyl‐N,N′‐bis(pyrid‐2‐ylmethyl)‐N′‐imidazole‐2‐ylmethyl)‐ethylenediamine (L5, 5 ), has been isolated and characterized by means of elemental analysis, mass spectrometry, UV/Vis spectroscopy, and electrochemistry. The single‐crystal X‐ray structure of [Ni(L3)(CH3CN)](BPh4)2 reveals that the nickel(II) center is located in a distorted octahedral coordination geometry constituted by all the five nitrogen atoms of the pentadentate ligand and an acetonitrile molecule. In a dichloromethane/acetonitrile solvent mixture, all the complexes show ligand field bands in the visible region characteristic of an octahedral coordination geometry. They exhibit a one‐electron oxidation corresponding to the NiII/NiIII redox couple the potential of which depends upon the ligand donor functionalities. The new complexes catalyze the oxidation of cyclohexane in the presence of m‐CPBA as oxidant up to a turnover number of 530 with good alcohol selectivity (A/K, 7.1–10.6, A=alcohol, K=ketone). Upon replacing the pyridylmethyl arm in [Ni(L1)(CH3CN)](BPh4)2 by the strongly σ‐bonding but weakly π‐bonding imidazolylmethyl arm as in [Ni(L5)(CH3CN)](BPh4)2 or the sterically demanding 6‐methylpyridylmethyl ([Ni(L3)(CH3CN)](BPh4)2 and the quinolylmethyl arms ([Ni(L4)(CH3CN)](BPh4)2, both the catalytic activity and the selectivity decrease. DFT studies performed on cyclohexane oxidation by complexes 1 and 5 demonstrate the two spin‐state reactivity for the high‐spin [(N5)NiII?O.] intermediate (ts1hs, ts2doublet), which has a low‐spin state located closely in energy to the high‐spin state. The lower catalytic activity of complex 5 is mainly due to the formation of thermodynamically less accessible m‐CPBA‐coordinated precursor of [NiII(L5)(OOCOC6H4Cl)]+ ( 5 a ). Adamantane is oxidized to 1‐adamantanol, 2‐adamantanol, and 2‐adamantanone (3°/2°, 10.6–11.5), and cumene is selectively oxidized to 2‐phenyl‐2‐propanol. The incorporation of sterically hindering pyridylmethyl and quinolylmethyl donor ligands around the NiII leads to a high 3°/2° bond selectivity for adamantane oxidation, which is in contrast to the lower cyclohexane oxidation activities of the complexes.  相似文献

Coordination of a redox‐active pyridine aminophenol ligand to RuII followed by aerobic oxidation generates two diamagnetic RuIII species [ 1 a (cis) and 1 b (trans)] with ligand‐centered radicals. The reaction of 1 a / 1 b with excess NaN3 under inert atmosphere resulted in the formation of a rare bis(nitrido)‐bridged trinuclear ruthenium complex with two nonlinear asymmetrical Ru‐N‐Ru fragments. The spontaneous reduction of the ligand centered radical in the parent 1 a / 1 b supports the oxidation of a nitride (N3?) to half an equivalent of N2. The trinuclear omplex is reactive toward TEMPO‐H, tin hydrides, thiols, and dihydrogen.  相似文献

Direct catalytic C? H bond functionalization is a key challenge in synthetic chemistry, with many popular C? H activation methodologies involving precious‐metal catalysts. In recent years, iron catalysts have emerged as a possible alternative to the more common precious‐metal catalysts, owing to its high abundance, low cost, and low toxicity. However, iron catalysts are plagued by two key factors: the ligand cost and the low turnover numbers (TONs) typically achieved. In this work, two approaches are presented to functionalize the popular N1,N2‐dimethyl‐N1,N2‐bis(pyridin‐2‐ylmethyl)ethane‐1,2‐diamine (BPMEN) ligand, so that it can be supported on porous silica or polymer resin supports. Four new catalysts are prepared and evaluated in an array of catalytic C? H functionalization reactions by using cyclohexane, cyclohexene, cyclooctane, adamantane, benzyl alcohol, and cumene with aqueous hydrogen peroxide. Catalyst recovery and recycling is demonstrated by using supported catalysts, which allows for a modest increase in the TON achieved with these catalysts.  相似文献

Two dinuclear and one mononuclear ruthenium complexes containing neutral polypyridyl ligands have been synthesised as pre‐water oxidation catalysts and characterised by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy and ESI‐MS. Their catalytic water oxidation properties in the presence of [Ce(NH4)2(NO3)6] (CeIV) as oxidant at pH 1.0 have been investigated. At low concentrations of CeIV (5 mM ), high turnover numbers of up to 4500 have been achieved. An 18O‐labelling experiment established that both O atoms in the evolved O2 originate from water. Combined electrochemical study and electrospray ionisation mass spectrometric analysis suggest that ligand exchange between coordinated 4‐picoline and free water produces Ru aquo species as the real water oxidation catalysts.  相似文献

In this work, we fabricated the poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone)(PVP)-stabilized ruthenium(0) nanoclusters by reduction of RuCl_3 using different reducing agents, and studied their catalytic activity in hydrogen generation from the decomposition of formic acid.It was demonstrated that N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone(NVP), which is a monomer of PVP, could promote the reaction by coordination with Ru nanoparticles. The Ru nanoparticles catalyst reduced by sodium borohydride(NaBH_4) exhibited highest catalytic activity for the decomposition of formic acid into H_2 and CO_2. The turnover of numenber(TOF) value could reach 26113 h~(–1) at 80 °C. We believe that the effective catalysts have potential of application in hydrogen storage by formic acid.  相似文献

A porous rtl metal–organic framework (MOF) [Mn5L(H2O)6?(DMA)2]?5DMA?4C2H5OH ( 1? Mn) (H10L=5,10,15,20‐tetra(4‐(3,5‐dicarboxylphenoxy)phenyl)porphyrin; DMA=N,N′‐dimethylacetamide) was synthesized by employing a new porphyrin‐based octacarboxylic acid ligand. 1? Mn exhibits high MnII density in the porous framework, providing it great Lewis‐acid heterogeneous catalytic capability for the cycloaddition of CO2 with epoxides. Strikingly, 1? Mn features excellent catalytic activity to the cycloaddition of CO2 to epoxides, with a remarkable initial turnover frequency 400 per mole of catalyst per hour at 20 atm. As‐synthesized 1? Mn also exhibits size selectivity to different epoxide substrates on account of their steric hindrance. The high catalytic activity, size selectivity, and stability toward the epoxides on catalytic cycloaddition of CO2 make 1? Mn a promising heterogeneous catalyst for fixation and utilization of CO2.  相似文献

Synthesis and Properties of (Acido)(nitrosyl)phthalocyaninato(2–)ruthenium (Acido)(nitrosyl)phthalocyaninato(2–)ruthenium, [Ru(X)(NO)pc2–] (X = F, Cl, Br, I, CN, NCO, NCS, NCSe, N3, NO2) is obtained by acidification of a solution of bis(tetra(n-butyl)ammonium) bis(nitro)phthalocyaninato(2–)ruthenate(II) in tetrahydrofurane with the corresponding conc. mineral acid or aqueous ammonium salt solution. The nitrite-nitrosyl conversion is reversal in basic media. The cyclic and differential pulse voltammograms show mainly three quasi-reversible one-electron processes at 1.05, –0.65 and –1.25 V, ascribed to the first ring oxidation and the stepwise reduction to the complexes of type {RuNO}7 and {RuNO}8, respectively. The B < Q < N regions in the electronic absorption spectra are still typical for the pc2– ligand, but are each split into two strong absorptions (14500/16500(B); 28000/30500(Q); 34500/37000 cm–1(N)), whose relative intensities strongly depend on the nature of the axial ligand X. In the IR spectra is active the N–O stretching vibration between 1827 (X = I) and 1856 cm–1 (F), the C–N stretching vibration at 2178 (X = NCO), 2072 (NCS), 2066 (NCSe), 2093 cm–1 (CN), the N–N stretching vibration of the azide ligand at 2045 cm–1, the fundamentals of the nitrito(O) ligand at 1501, 932, and 804 cm–1, and the Ru–X stretching vibration at 483 (F), 332 (Cl), 225 (Br), 183 (I), 395 (N3), 364 (ONO), 403 (CN), 263 (NCS), and 231 cm–1 (NCSe). In the resonance Raman spectra, excited in coincidence with the B region, the Ru–NO stretching vibration and the very intense Ru–N–O deformation vibration are selectively enhanced between 580 and 618 cm–1, and between 556 and 585 cm–1, respectively.  相似文献

Density functional theory (DFT) is employed to: 1) propose a viable catalytic cycle consistent with our experimental results for the mechanism of chemically driven (CeIV) O2 generation from water, mediated by nonheme iron complexes; and 2) to unravel the role of the ligand on the nonheme iron catalyst in the water oxidation reaction activity. To this end, the key features of the water oxidation catalytic cycle for the highly active complexes [Fe(OTf)2(Pytacn)] (Pytacn: 1‐(2′‐pyridylmethyl)‐4,7‐dimethyl‐1,4,7‐triazacyclononane; OTf: CF3SO3?) ( 1 ) and [Fe(OTf)2(mep)] (mep: N,N′‐bis(2‐pyridylmethyl)‐N,N′‐dimethyl ethane‐1,2‐diamine) ( 2 ) as well as for the catalytically inactive [Fe(OTf)2(tmc)] (tmc: N,N′,N′′,N′′′‐tetramethylcyclam) ( 3 ) and [Fe(NCCH3)(MePy2CH‐tacn)](OTf)2 (MePy2CH‐tacn: N‐(dipyridin‐2‐yl)methyl)‐N′,N′′‐dimethyl‐1,4,7‐triazacyclononane) ( 4 ) were analyzed. The DFT computed catalytic cycle establishes that the resting state under catalytic conditions is a [FeIV(O)(OH2)(LN4)]2+ species (in which LN4=Pytacn or mep) and the rate‐determining step is the O?O bond‐formation event. This is nicely supported by the remarkable agreement between the experimental (ΔG=17.6±1.6 kcal mol?1) and theoretical (ΔG=18.9 kcal mol?1) activation parameters obtained for complex 1 . The O?O bond formation is performed by an iron(V) intermediate [FeV(O)(OH)(LN4)]2+ containing a cis‐FeV(O)(OH) unit. Under catalytic conditions (CeIV, pH 0.8) the high oxidation state FeV is only thermodynamically accessible through a proton‐coupled electron‐transfer (PCET) process from the cis‐[FeIV(O)(OH2)(LN4)]2+ resting state. Formation of the [FeV(O)(LN4)]3+ species is thermodynamically inaccessible for complexes 3 and 4 . Our results also show that the cis‐labile coordinative sites in iron complexes have a beneficial key role in the O?O bond‐formation process. This is due to the cis‐OH ligand in the cis‐FeV(O)(OH) intermediate that can act as internal base, accepting a proton concomitant to the O?O bond‐formation reaction. Interplay between redox potentials to achieve the high oxidation state (FeV?O) and the activation energy barrier for the following O?O bond formation appears to be feasible through manipulation of the coordination environment of the iron site. This control may have a crucial role in the future development of water oxidation catalysts based on iron.  相似文献

A series of half‐sandwich ruthenium‐based catalysts for both alcohol oxidation and carbonyl compounds hydrogenation have been synthesized through metal‐induced C–H bond activation based on benzothiazole ligands. The neutral ruthenium complexes 1 – 4 were fully characterized by UV–vis, NMR, IR, and elemental analysis. Molecular structures of complexes 1 and 3 were further confirmed by X‐ray diffraction analysis. All complexes exhibited high activity for the catalytic oxidation of a variety of alcohols with tBuOOH as oxidants to give carbonyl compounds with high yields in water. Moreover, these half‐sandwich complexes also showed high efficiency for the catalytic hydrogenation of carbonyl compounds in a methanol–water mixture. The catalyst could be reused for at least five cycles without any loss of activity. The catalytic system also worked well for various kinds of substrates with either electron‐donating or electron‐withdrawing groups.  相似文献
