Constructing architectures with hierarchical porosity has been widely considered as the most efficient way to bypass the problems related to slow mass transfer and inaccessibility of internal space in MOFs. Now, a crystal-growth-dominated strategy is proposed to fabricate hierarchically porous MOFs (HP-MOFs). When the crystal growth is dominated by the monomer attachment, the aggregation of nonionic surfactant or polymer can be easily captured and released during the crystal growth process, resulting in the formation and ordering hierarchical pores along the radial direction. Owing to the accelerated mass diffusion and more exposed active sites of this design, HP-MOFs exhibited an enhanced catalytic efficiency in styrene oxidation.  相似文献

A metal–organic framework (MOF) with mespores (2 to 50 nm) allows the inclusion of large biomolecules, such as nucleic acids. However, chemical reaction on the nucleic acids, to further regulate their bioactivity, is yet to be demonstrated within MOF pores. Here, we report the deprotection of carbonate protected RNA molecules (21 to 102 nt) to restore their original activity using a MOF as a heterogeneous catalyst. Two MOFs, MOF-626 and MOF-636 are designed and synthesized, with mesopores of 2.2 and 2.8 nm, respectively, carrying isolated metal sites (Ni, Co, Cu, Pd, Rh and Ru). The pores favor the entrance of RNA, while the metal sites catalyze C−O bond cleavage at the carbonate group. Complete conversion of RNA is achieved by Pd-MOF-626, 90 times more efficiently than Pd(NO3)2. MOF crystals are also removable from the aqueous reaction media, leaving a negligible metal footprint, 3.9 ppb, only 1/55 of that using homogeneous Pd catalysts. These features make MOF potentially suited for bioorthogonal chemistry.  相似文献

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are considered ideal membrane candidates for energy-efficient separations. However, the MOF membrane amount to date is only a drop in the bucket compared to the material collections. The fabrication of an arbitrary MOF membrane exhibiting inherent separation capacity of the material remains a long-standing challenge. Herein, we report a MOF modular customization strategy by employing four MOFs with diverse structures and physicochemical properties and achieving innovative defect-free membranes for efficient separation validation. Each membrane fully displays the separation potential according to the MOF pore/channel microenvironment, and consequently, an intriguing H2/CO2 separation performance sequence is achieved (separation factor of 1656–5.4, H2 permeance of 964–2745 gas permeation unit). Taking advantage of this strategy, separation performance can be manipulated by a non-destructive modification separately towards the MOF module. This work establishes a universal full-chain demonstration for membrane fabrication-separation validation-microstructure modification and opens an avenue for exclusive customization of membranes for important separations.  相似文献

Discoveries of the accurate spatial arrangement of active sites in biological systems and cooperation between them for high catalytic efficiency are two major events in biology. However, precise tuning of these aspects is largely missing in the design of artificial catalysts. Here, a series of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) were used, not only to overcome the limit of distance between active sites in bio-systems, but also to unveil the critical role of this distance for efficient catalysis. A linear correlation was established between photocatalytic activity and the reciprocal of inter active-site distance; a smaller distance led to higher activity. Vacancies created at selected crystallographic positions of MOFs promoted their photocatalytic efficiency. MOF-525-J33 with 15.6 Å inter active-site distance and 33 % vacancies exhibited unprecedented high turnover frequency of 29.5 h−1 in visible-light-driven acceptorless dehydrogenation of tetrahydroquinoline at room temperature.  相似文献

Many sophisticated chemical and physical properties of porous materials strongly rely on the presence of the metal ions within the structures. Whereas homogeneous distribution of metals is conveniently realized in metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), the limited stability potentially restricts their practical implementation. From that perspective, the development of metal–covalent organic frameworks (MCOFs) may address these shortcomings by incorporating active metal species atop highly stable COF backbones. This Minireview highlights examples of MCOFs that tackle important issues from their design, synthesis, characterization to cutting-edge applications.  相似文献

Precise control of the structure and spatial distance of Lewis acid (LA) and Lewis base (LB) sites in a porous system to construct efficient solid frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) catalyst is vital for industrial application but remains challenging. Herein, we constructed FLP sites in a polyoxometalate (POM)-based metal–organic framework (MOF) by introducing coordination-defect metal nodes (LA) and surface-basic POM with abundant oxygen (LB). The well-defined and unique spatial conformation of the defective POM-based MOF ensure that the distance between LA and LB is at ~4.3 Å, a suitable distance to activate H2. This FLP catalyst can heterolytically dissociate H2 into active Hδ−, thus exhibiting high activity in hydrogenation, which is 55 and 2.7 times as high as that of defect-free POM-based MOF and defective MOF without POM, respectively. This work provides a new avenue toward precise design multi-site catalyst to achieve specific activation of target substrate for synergistic catalysis.  相似文献

The grafting of imidazole species onto coordinatively unsaturated sites within metal–organic framework MIL-101(Cr) enables enhanced CO2 capture in close proximity to catalytic sites. The subsequent combination of CO2 and epoxide binding sites, as shown through theoretical findings, significantly improves the rate of cyclic carbonate formation, producing a highly active CO2 utilization catalyst. An array of spectroscopic investigations, in combination with theoretical calculations reveal the nature of the active sites and associated catalytic mechanism which validates the careful design of the hybrid MIL-101(Cr).  相似文献

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), as a porous frame material, exhibit considerable electrical conductivity. In recent decades, research on the proton conductivity of MOFs has made gratifying progress. In this review, the designable guest molecules encapsulated into MOFs are summarized and generalized into four types in terms of promoting proton conductive performance, and then recent progress in the promotion of proton conductivity by MOFs encapsulating guest molecules is discussed. The existing challenges and prospects for the development of this strategy for promoting MOFs’ proton conductivity are also listed.  相似文献

Chromium(III)-based metal–organic frameworks (Cr-MOFs) are very attractive in a wide range of investigations because of their robustness and high porosity. However, reports on Cr-MOFs are scarce owing to the difficulties in their direct synthesis. Recently developed postsynthetic routes to obtain Cr-MOFs suffered from complicated procedures and a lack of general applicability. Herein, we report a highly efficient and versatile strategy, namely solvent-assisted metal metathesis, to obtain Cr-MOFs from a variety of FeIII-MOFs, including several well-known MOFs and a newly synthesized one, through judicious selection of a coordinating solvent. The versatility of this strategy was demonstrated by producing Cr-MIL-100, Cr-MIL-142A/C, Cr-PCN-333, and Cr-PCN-600 from their FeIII analogues and Cr-SXU-1 from a newly synthesized MOF precursor, Fe-SXU-1, in acetone as the solvent under very mild conditions. We have thus developed a general approach for the preparation of robust Cr-MOFs, which are difficult to synthesize by direct methods.  相似文献

We report the dual postsynthetic modification (PSM) of a metal–organic framework (MOF) involving the microscopic conversion of C−H bonds into C−C bonds and the mesoscopic introduction of hierarchical porosity. MOF crystals underwent single-crystal-to-single-crystal transformations during the electrophilic aromatic substitution of Co2(m-DOBDC) (m-DOBDC4−=4,6-dioxo-1,3-benzenedicarboxylate) with alkyl halides and formaldehyde. The steric hindrance caused by the proximity of the introduced functional groups to the coordination bonds reduced bond stability and facilitated the transformation into hierarchically porous mesostructures by etching with in situ generated protons (hydroniums) and halides. The numerous defect sites in the mesostructural MOFs are potential water-sorption sites. However, since the introduced functional groups are close to the main adsorption sites, even methyl groups are able to considerably decrease water adsorption, whereas hydroxy groups increase adsorption at low vapor pressures.  相似文献

The structural characterization of sublayer surfaces of MIL-101 is reported by low-dose spherical aberration-corrected high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The state-of-the-art microscopy directly images atomic/molecular configurations in thin crystals from charge density projections, and uncovers the structures of sublayer surfaces and their evolution to stable surfaces regulated by inorganic Cr33-O) trimers. This study provides compelling evidence of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) crystal growth via the assembly of sublayer surfaces and has important implications in understanding the crystal growth and surface-related properties of MOFs.  相似文献

The effect of metal on the degree of flexibility upon evacuation of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) has been revealed with positional control of the organic functionalities. Although Co-, Cu-, and Zn-based DMOFs (DMOF = DABCO MOF, DABCO = 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane) with ortho-ligands (2,3-NH2Cl) have frameworks that are inflexible upon evacuation, MOFs with para-ligands (2,5-NH2Cl) showed different N2 uptake amounts after evacuation by metal exchange. Considering that the structural analyses were not fully sufficiently different to explain the drastic changes in N2 adsorption after evacuation, quantum chemical simulation was explored. A new index (η) was defined to quantify the regularity around the metal based on differences in the oxygen-metal-oxygen angles. Within 2,5-NH2Cl, the η value becomes larger as the metal are varied from Co to Zn. A large η value means that the structures around the metal center are less ordered. These results can be used to explain flexibility changes upon evacuation by altering the metal cation in this regioisomeric system.  相似文献

Nuclear accidents and the improper disposal of nuclear wastes have led to serious environmental radioactive pollutions. The rational design of adsorbents for the highly efficient separation of strontium(II) is essential in treating nuclear waste and recovering radioactive strontium resources. Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are potential materials for the separation of aqueous metal ions owing to their designable structure and tunable functionality. Herein, a novel 3D MOF material MOF-18Cr6, in which 1D channels are formed using 18-crown-6-ether-containing ligands as channel walls, is fabricated for strontium(II) separation. In contrast to traditional MOFs designed by grafting functional groups in the framework pores, MOF-18Cr6 possesses regular 18-crown-6-ether cavities on the channel walls, which not only can transport and intake strontium(II) via the channels, but also prevent blockage of the channels after the binding of strontium(II). Consequently, the functional sites are fully utilized to achieve a high strontium(II) removal rate of 99.73 % in simulated nuclear wastewater. This study fabricates a highly promising adsorbent for the separation of aqueous radioactive strontium(II), and more importantly, can provide a new strategy for the rational design of high-performance MOF adsorbents for separating target substances from complex aqueous environments.  相似文献

Design and synthesis of stable, active and cost-effective electrocatalyst for water splitting applications is an emerging area of research, given the depletion of fossil fuels. Herein, two isostructural NiII redox-active metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) containing flexible tripodal trispyridyl ligand ( L ) and linear dicarboxylates such as terephthalate (TA) and 2-aminoterphthalate (H2NTA) are studied for their catalytic activity in oxygen evaluation reaction (OER). The 2D-layered MOFs form 3D hydrogen bonded frameworks containing one-dimensional hydrophilic channels that are filled with water molecules. The electrochemical studies reveal that MOFs display an efficient catalytic activity towards oxygen evolution reaction in alkaline conditions with an overpotential as low as 356 mV. Further, these 2D-MOFs exhibit excellent ability to adsorb water vapor (180–230 cc g−1 at 273 K) and CO2 (33 cc g−1 at 273 K). The presence of hydrophilic functionality in the frameworks was found to significantly enhance the electrocatalytic activity as well as H2O sorption.  相似文献

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising materials with fascinating properties. Their widespread applications are sometimes hindered by the intrinsic instability of frameworks. However, this instability of MOFs can also be exploited for useful purposes. Herein, we report the use of MOFs as metal ion precursors for constructing functional nanocomposites by utilizing the instability of MOFs. The heterogeneous growth process of nanostructures on substrates involves the release of metal ions, nucleation on substrates, and formation of a covering structure. Specifically, the synthesized CoS with carbon nanotubes as substrates display enhanced performance in a lithium-ion battery. Such strategy not only presents a new way for exploiting the instability of MOFs but also supplies a prospect for designing versatile functional nanocomposites.  相似文献

Multi-component MOFs contain multiple sets of unique and hierarchical pores, with different functions for different applications, distributed in their inter-linked domains. Herein, we report the construction of a class of precisely aligned flexible-on-rigid hybrid-phase MOFs with a unique rods-on-octahedron morphology. We demonstrated that hybrid-phase MOFs can be constructed based on two prerequisites: the partially matched topology at the interface of the two frameworks, and the structural flexibility of MOFs with acs topology, which can compensate for the differences in lattice parameters. Furthermore, we achieved domain selective loading of multiple guest molecules into the hybrid-phase MOF, as observed by scanning transmission electron microscopy–energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry elemental mapping. Most importantly, we successfully applied the constructed hybrid-phase MOF to develop a dual-drug delivery system with controllable loading ratio and release kinetics.  相似文献

Metal–organic framework (MOF)-based derivatives have been found to be promising heterogeneous catalysts for organic transformations. Herein, hollow-structure Cu-MOFs derived by reduction of Cu3(BTC)2 (BTC=1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylate; denoted as RCB) were prepared by using hydrazine hydrate as a reducing agent under various conditions. The influence of hydrazine hydrate induced the structure of Cu3(BTC)2 and led to dynamic variation in the interior and exterior as well as oxidation states of the Cu ion. The synthesized materials were characterized by SEM, TEM, N2 sorption isotherms, XRD, and XPS. The product of the catalytic reaction was observed by GC-MS. In addition, the prepared RCBs were found to have excellent catalytic activity and selectivity for benzyl alcohol oxidation when assisted by 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO).  相似文献

Flue gas desulfurization is crucial for both human health and ecological environments. However, developing efficient SO2 adsorbents that can break the trade-off between adsorption capacity and selectivity is still challenging. In this work, a new type of fluorinated anion-pillared metal–organic frameworks (APMOFs) with a pillar-cage structure is fabricated through pillar-embedding into a highly porous and robust framework. This type of APMOFs comprises smaller tetrahedral cages and larger icosahedral cages interconnected by embedded [NbOF5]2− and [TaOF5]2− anions acting as pillars. The APMOFs exhibits high porosity and density of fluorinated anions, ensuring exceptional SO2 adsorption capacity and ultrahigh selectivity for SO2/CO2 and SO2/N2 gas mixtures. Furthermore, these two structures demonstrate excellent stability towards water, acid/alkali, and SO2 adsorption. Cycle dynamic breakthrough experiments confirm the excellent separation performance of SO2/CO2 gas mixtures and their cyclic stability. SO2-loaded single-crystal X-ray diffraction, Grand canonical Monte Carlo (GCMC) simulations combined with density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal the preferred adsorption domains for SO2 molecules. The multiple-site host–guest and guest-guest interactions facilitate selective recognition and dense packing of SO2 in this hybrid porous material. This work will be instructive for designing porous materials for flue gas desulfurization and other gas-purification processes.  相似文献
