The effect of metal on the degree of flexibility upon evacuation of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) has been revealed with positional control of the organic functionalities. Although Co-, Cu-, and Zn-based DMOFs (DMOF = DABCO MOF, DABCO = 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane) with ortho-ligands (2,3-NH2Cl) have frameworks that are inflexible upon evacuation, MOFs with para-ligands (2,5-NH2Cl) showed different N2 uptake amounts after evacuation by metal exchange. Considering that the structural analyses were not fully sufficiently different to explain the drastic changes in N2 adsorption after evacuation, quantum chemical simulation was explored. A new index (η) was defined to quantify the regularity around the metal based on differences in the oxygen-metal-oxygen angles. Within 2,5-NH2Cl, the η value becomes larger as the metal are varied from Co to Zn. A large η value means that the structures around the metal center are less ordered. These results can be used to explain flexibility changes upon evacuation by altering the metal cation in this regioisomeric system.  相似文献

Intriguing properties and functions are expected to implant into metal–organic layers (MOLs) to achieve tailored pore environments and multiple functionalities owing to the synergies among multiple components. Herein, we demonstrate a facile one-pot synthetic strategy to incorporate multiple functionalities into stable zirconium MOLs via secondary ligand pillaring. Through the combination of Zr6-BTB (BTB=benzene-1,3,5-tribenzoate) layers and diverse secondary ligands (including ditopic and tetratopic linkers), 31 MOFs with multi-functionalities were systematically prepared. Notably, a metal–phthalocyanine fragment was successfully incorporated into this Zr-MOL system, giving rise to an ideal platform for the selective oxidation of anthracene. The organic functionalization of two-dimensional MOLs can generate tunable porous structures and environments, which may facilitate the excellent catalytic performance of as-synthesized materials.  相似文献

Expanding the chemical diversity of peptide macrocycle libraries for display selection is desirable to improve their potential to bind biomolecular targets. We now have implemented a considerable expansion through a large aromatic helical foldamer inclusion. A foldamer was first identified that undergoes flexizyme-mediated tRNA acylation and that is capable of initiating ribosomal translation with yields sufficiently high to perform an mRNA display selection of macrocyclic foldamer–peptide hybrids. A hybrid macrocyclic nanomolar binder to the C-lobe of the E6AP HECT domain was selected that showed a highly converged peptide sequence. A crystal structure and molecular dynamics simulations revealed that both the peptide and foldamer are helical in an intriguing reciprocal stapling fashion. The strong residue convergence could be rationalized based on their involvement in specific interactions with the target protein. The foldamer stabilizes the peptide helix through stapling and through contacts with key residues. These results altogether represent a significant extension of the chemical space amenable to display selection and highlight possible benefits of inserting an aromatic foldamer into a peptide macrocycle for the purpose of protein recognition.  相似文献

Four isostructural CPO-54-M metal-organic frameworks based on the larger organic linker 1,5-dihydroxynaphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylic acid and divalent cations (M=Mn, Mg, Ni, Co) are shown to be isoreticular to the CPO-27 (MOF-74) materials. Desolvated CPO-54-Mn contains a very high concentration of open metal sites, which has a pronounced effect on the gas adsorption of N2, H2, CO2 and CO. Initial isosteric heats of adsorption are significantly higher than for MOFs without open metal sites and are slightly higher than for CPO-27. The plateau of high heat of adsorption decreases earlier in CPO-54-Mn as a function of loading per mole than in CPO-27-Mn. Cluster and periodic density functional theory based calculations of the adsorbate structures and energetics show that the larger adsorption energy at low loadings, when only open metal sites are occupied, is mainly due to larger contribution of dispersive interactions for the materials with the larger, more electron rich bridging ligand.  相似文献

Solid-state transformations in metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are important and have led to the creation of new MOF structures. Solid-state transformations from interpenetrated to non-interpenetrated networks involving rearrangement of secondary building units (SBUs) in a single-crystal-to-single-crystal (SCSC) fashion have not been explored to date. Herein, we report the sequential, thermally stimulated solid-state transformations in a barium-organic framework ( UPC-600 ). The two-fold interpenetrated framework of UPC-600 is converted at 373 K into UPC-601 , a non-interpenetrated framework. This proceeds in a SCSC fashion and involves the rearrangement of two proximate rod-shaped SBUs in different nets to generate a new rod-shaped SBU. At 473 K, a continuous solid-state transformation involving a second rearrangement occurred, UPC-601 converted into UPC-602 by the rearrangement of the 1D rod-shaped SBU to a 2D layer SBU. This is the first example of such a thermally driven stepwise transformation involving simultaneous cleavage and regeneration of multiple bonds.  相似文献

Methods to synthesize and characterize aromatic molecules with vinyl substituents are sought after yet limited in the literature. Here, we introduce cyclobutyl groups into a metal–organic framework (MOF) matrix that are poised to produce ethylene upon heating. The expulsion of ethylene produces vinyl groups on an aromatic core, which are isolated by the crystalline matrix of the framework. This enables full characterization of the thermolysis by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Further, we modify the vinyl groups by a bromine addition reaction. Importantly, the two transformations happen in a single-crystal-to-single-crystal manner without changing the overall network structure of the parent framework. New insights into the structural and synthetic chemistry of this important class of compound are generated. Installing reactive vinyl tags in materials by the high temperature thermolysis of cyclobutyl groups is a powerful strategy for altering their physicochemical characteristics.  相似文献

Chiral compounds are known to be important not only because they are the fundamental components of living organisms, but also for their unique chiroptical properties. In recent years, scientists have fabricated several chiral organic supramolecular aggregates by using chiral physical fields, such as vortex flow. Herein, the relationship between dynamic chiroptical properties and rheological nature is discussed, suggesting the shear thinning properties of non-Newtonian fluids might help colloidal particles adopt a chiral arrangement in vortices. Furthermore, the storage modulus of colloids could be increased by adding a linking agent, which successfully kept the dynamic chiroptical properties in the static state. Moreover, the salt effect on the host–guest interaction involved in the colloids was studied, the results suggested a significant enhancement of the transferred dynamic circular dichroism for the achiral guest molecule.  相似文献

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have received increasing interest as solid single-site catalysts, owing to their tunable pore architecture and metal node geometry. The ability to exploit these modulators makes them prominent candidates for producing polyethylene (PE) materials with narrow dispersity index (Ð) values. Here a study is presented in which the ethylene polymerization properties, with Et2AlCl as activator, of three renowned Cr-based MOFs, MIL-101(Cr)-NDC (NDC=2,6-dicarboxynapthalene), MIL-53(Cr) and HKUST-1(Cr), are systematically investigated. Ethylene polymerization reactions revealed varying catalytic activities, with MIL-101(Cr)-NDC and MIL-53(Cr) being significantly more active than HKUST-1(Cr). Analysis of the PE products revealed large Ð values, demonstrating that polymerization occurs over a multitude of active Cr centers rather than a singular type of Cr site. Spectroscopic experiments, in the form of powder X-ray diffraction (pXRD), UV/Vis-NIR diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) and CO probe molecule Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy corroborated these findings, indicating that indeed for each MOF unique active sites are generated, however without alteration of the original oxidation state. Furthermore, the pXRD experiments indicated that one major prerequisite for catalytic activity was the degree of MOF activation by the Et2AlCl co-catalyst, with the more active materials portraying a larger degree of activation.  相似文献

The interactions between uranium and non-innocent organic species are an essential component of fundamental uranium redox chemistry. However, they have seldom been explored in the context of multidimensional, porous materials. Uranium-based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) offer a new angle to study these interactions, as these self-assembled species stabilize uranium species through immobilization by organic linkers within a crystalline framework, while potentially providing a method for adjusting metal oxidation state through coordination of non-innocent linkers. We report the synthesis of the MOF NU-1700 , assembled from U4+-paddlewheel nodes and catecholate-based linkers. We propose this highly unusual structure, which contains two U4+ ions in a paddlewheel built from four linkers—a first among uranium materials—as a result of extensive characterization via powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), sorption, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), in addition to density functional theory (DFT) calculations.  相似文献

Radio-photoluminescence (RPL) materials display a distinct radiation-induced permanent luminescence center, and therefore find application in the detection of ionizing radiation. The current inventory of RPL materials, which were discovered by serendipity, has been limited to a small number of metal-ion-doped inorganic materials. Here we document the RPL of a metal–organic framework (MOF) for the first time: X-ray induced free radicals are accumulated on the organic linker and are subsequently stabilized in the conjugated fragment in the structure, while the metal center acts as the X-ray attenuator. These radicals afford new emission features in both UV-excited and X-ray excited luminescence spectra, making it possible to establish linear relationships between the radiation dose and the normalized intensity of the new emission feature. The MOF-based RPL materials exhibit advantages in terms of the dose detection range, reusability, emission stability, and energy threshold. Based on a comprehensive electronic structure and energy diagram study, the rational design and a substantial expansion of candidate RPL materials can be anticipated.  相似文献

A pyrene-based metal-organic framework (MOF) SION-8 captured iodine (I2) vapor with a capacity of 460 and 250 mg g−1MOF at room temperature and 75 °C, respectively. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and van-der-Waals-corrected density functional theory calculations confirmed the presence of I2 molecules within the pores of SION-8 and their interaction with the pyrene-based ligands. The I2–pyrene interactions in the I2-loaded SION-8 led to a 104-fold increase of its electrical conductivity compared to the bare SION-8 . Upon adsorption, ≥95 % of I2 molecules were incarcerated and could not be washed out, signifying the potential of SION-8 towards the permanent capture of radioactive I2 at room temperature.  相似文献

X-ray radiation is commonly employed in clinical practice for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. Over the past decade, developments in nanotechnology have led to the use of high-Z elements as the basis for innovative new treatment platforms that enhance the clinical efficacy of X-ray radiation. Nanoscale metal–frameworks (nMOFs) are coordination networks containing organic ligands that have attracted attention as therapeutic platforms in oncology and other areas of medicine. In cancer therapy, X-ray activated, high-Z nMOFs have demonstrated potential as radiosensitizers that increase local radiation dose deposition and generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). This minireview summarizes current research on high-Z nMOFs in cancer theranostics and discusses factors that may influence future clinical application.  相似文献

To activate electronic and optical functions of the redox-active metal–organic framework, (Me2NH2)[InIII(TTFTB)]⋅0.7 C2H5OH⋅DMF (Me2NH2@ 1 , TTFTB=tetrathiafulvalene-tetrabenzoate, DMF=N,N-dimethylformamide), has been exchanged by tetrathiafulvalenium (TTF.+) and N,N′-dimethyl-4,4′-bipyridinium (MV2+). These cations provide electron carriers and photosensitivity. The exchange retains the crystallinity allowing single-crystal to single-crystal post-synthetic transformation to TTF@ 1 and MV@ 1 . Both TTF.+ and MV2+ enhance the electrical conductivity by a factor of 102 and the visible light induced photocurrent by 4 and 28 times, respectively. EPR evidences synergetic effect involving charge transfer between the framework redox-active TTFTB bridges and MV2+. The results demonstrate that functionalization of MOF by cation exchange without perturbing the crystallinity extends possibilities to achieve switchable materials.  相似文献

Chiral optical metamaterials with delicate structures are in high demand in various fields because of their strong light–matter interactions. Recently, a scalable strategy for the synthesis of chiral plasmonic nanoparticles (NPs) using amino acids and peptides has been reported. Reported herein, 3D chiral gold NPs were synthesized using dipeptide γ-Glu-Cys and Cys-Gly and analyzed crystallographically. The γ-Glu-Cys-directed NPs present a cube-like outline with a protruding chiral wing. In comparison, the NPs synthesized with Cys-Gly exhibited a rhombic dodecahedron-like outline with curved edges and elliptical cavities on each face. Morphology analysis of intermediates indicated that γ-Glu-Cys generated an intermediate concave hexoctahedron morphology, while Cys-Gly formed a concave rhombic dodecahedron. NPs synthesized with Cys-Gly are named 432 helicoid V because of their unique morphology and growth pathway.  相似文献

The use of metal salts in electrospray ionization (ESI) of peptides increases the charge state of peptide ions, facilitating electron transfer dissociation (ETD) in tandem mass spectrometry. In the present study, K+ and Ca2+ were used as charge carriers to form multiply-charged metal–peptide complexes. ETD of the potassium- or calcium-peptide complex was initiated by transfer of an electron to a proton remote from the metal cation, and a c'-z? fragment complex, in which the c' and z? fragments were linked together via a metal cation coordinating with several amino acid residues, was formed. The presence of a metal cation in the precursor for ETD increased the lifetime of the c'-z? fragment complex, eventually generating c? and z' fragments through inter-fragment hydrogen migration. The degree of hydrogen migration was dependent on the location of the metal cation in the metal-peptide complex, but was not reconciled with conformation of the precursor ion obtained by molecular mechanics simulation. In contrast, the location of the metal cation in the intermediate suggested by the ETD spectrum was in agreement with the conformation of “proton-removed” precursors, indicating that the charge reduction of precursor ions by ETD induces conformational rearrangement during the fragmentation process.

Metal–organic cages (MOCs), which are formed via coordination-driven assembly, are being extensively developed for various applications owing to the utility of their accessible molecular-sized cavity. While MOC structures are uniquely and precisely predetermined by the metal coordination number and ligand configuration, tailoring MOCs to further modulate the size, shape, and chemical environment of the cavities has become intensively studied for a more efficient and adaptive molecular binding. Herein, we report self-expanding MOCs that exhibit remarkable structural variations in cage size and flexibility while maintaining their topology. A cyclic ligand with an oligomeric chain tethering the two benzene rings of stilbene was designed and mixed with RhII ions to obtain the parent MOCs. These MOCs were successfully transformed into expanded MOCs via the selective cleavage of the double bond in stilbene. The expanded MOCs could effectively trap multidentate N-donor molecules in their enlarged cavity, in contrast to the original MOCs with a narrow cavity. As the direct synthesis of expanded MOCs is impractical because of the entropically disfavored structures, self-expansion using ring-openable ligands is a promising approach that allows precision engineering and the production of functional MOCs that would otherwise be inaccessible.  相似文献
