Abstract

Four new mononuclear Schiff base manganese(III) and cobalt(III) complexes viz. [Mn(L1)(NCS)] (1), [Mn(L2)(NCS)] (2), [Co(L3)(NCS)] (3), and [Co(L4)(NCS)]·0.5CH3OH·0.5H2O (4), containing thiocyanate as a common pseudohalide ion are reported. The pentadentate Schiff base ligands H2L1, H2L2, H2L3, and H2L4 were obtained by the condensation of substituted salicylaldehydes with N-(3-aminopropyl)-N-methylpropane-1,3-diamine. The syntheses of the complexes have been achieved by the reaction of manganese(II) perchlorate or cobalt(II) perchlorate with the respective Schiff bases in the presence of thiocyanate in methanol medium. Complexes 14 have been characterized by microanalytical, spectroscopic, single-crystal X-ray diffraction and other physicochemical studies. Structural studies reveal that 14 adopt nearly similar structures containing the MN4O2 (M?=?Mn, Co) chromophore in which each central M(III) ion adopts a distorted octahedral geometry. Weak intermolecular H-bonding interactions are operative in these complexes to bind the molecular units. The antibacterial activity of 14 and their constituent Schiff bases has been tested against some common bacteria.  相似文献

A new hydrogen-bonded polymeric Mn(III) complex C19H20Mn1N3O3S1 (1) has been synthesised by conventional procedure with a new Schiff base ligand (2Z,3Z)-N 1,N 2-bis(1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)ethylidene)ethane-1,2-diamine (H 2 L) bearing a tetradentate N2O2 donor site. The complex has been characterised with several spectroscopic techniques like FT-IR, UV/Vis and EPR and also well supported by variable temperature magnetic susceptibility study. The structure of the co-ordination complex has been unequivocally confirmed from single crystal X-ray diffraction study. The redox stability of the metal chelate complex has been investigated with a slow scan cyclic voltammetry.  相似文献

A series of neodymium(III) and samarium(III) complexes of type [Ln(L)Cl(H2O)3] have been synthesized with Schiff bases (LH2) derived from 3‐(phenyl/substituted phenyl)‐4‐amino‐5‐mercapto‐1,2,4‐triazoles and isatin. The structures of the complexes were established using elemental analysis, molar conductivities, magnetic moments, infrared, NMR (1H, 13C) and UV–visible spectra, X‐ray diffraction and mass spectrometry. The thermal behaviour of these compounds under non‐isothermal conditions was investigated using thermogravimetry and differential thermogravimetry. The intermediates obtained at the end of various thermal decomposition steps were identified from elemental analysis and infrared spectral studies. All the ligands and their complexes were also screened for their antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis and antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus and Colletotrichum capsici. The screening results were correlated with the structural features of the compounds. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The consumption of non-essential aluminum ion (Al3+) at higher concentration from biotic and abiotic sources can cause serious adverse effects to the human body. Therefore, there is bourgeoning need of developing facile analytical methods for the on-site and real-time monitoring of Al3+ concentration in various environmental and biological samples. The chromo-fluorogenic based sensors have been widely developed in the recent years to detect and monitor Al3+ ion. Among the various types of developed chemical sensors, the Schiff bases proved to have several advantages due to their facile synthesis with high yield, fascinating coordination behavior and easy structural modification. This review was narrated to compile the Schiff bases introduced recently for the sensing of Al3+ in various environmental and biological samples. The designing of sensor, sensing mechanisms and other analytical novelties of the developed sensors are discussed.  相似文献

Abstract

A series of six new mononuclear Schiff base complexes, 16 of cobalt(III) of the general formula, [CoLX] or its adduct with methanol, is reported. The pentadentate Schiff base ligand (H2L) was obtained by the condensation of N-(3-aminopropyl)-N-methylpropane-1,3-diamine with 1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)ethanone (H2L1) or 1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)propan-1-one (H2L2). X stands for the pseudohalides, N3, N(CN)2? , and NCS. The complexes have been synthesized by the reaction of equimolar amounts of cobalt(II) nitrate with H2L1 or H2L2 in the presence of the respective pseudohalide in methanol medium. All the complexes have been characterized by microanalytical, spectroscopic, single crystal XRD (except 3), and other physicochemical studies. Structural studies reveal that the central Co(III) ion in 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 adopts a distorted octahedral geometry with a CoN4O2 chromophore. Weak intermolecular H-bonding and/or π-interactions are operative in these complexes to bind the molecular units. The antimicrobial activity of all the complexes and their constituent Schiff bases has been tested against some common bacteria and fungi.  相似文献

The synthesis of monomeric pentacoordinated diorganotin(IV) complexes derived from pyridoxal hydrochloride and 4‐ or 5‐R ‐substituted ortho ‐aminophenols is described. The complexes were characterized using UV–visible, infrared, mass, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and 119Sn NMR spectral techniques. The molecular structure of three complexes was established using X‐ray diffraction: 3b and 3d show a distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry, in which the basal plane is defined by the butyl groups and the iminic nitrogen atom, whereas the oxygen atoms from the aromatic ring occupy axial positions; in contrast, complex 3e exhibits a square pyramidal geometry. The cytotoxic activity of all complexes against human cell lines U‐251 (glioblastoma), K‐562 (chronic myelogenous leukemia), HCT‐15 (human colorectal cancer), MCF‐7 (human breast cancer) and SKLU‐1 (non‐small‐cell lung cancer) was evaluated, and the inhibitory percentage values indicated higher activity than the reference standard, cisplatin. Acute toxicity studies were performed in vivo for the prepared complexes to determine the lethal medium dose (LD50) after intraperitoneal administration to mice.  相似文献

A quadridentate Schiff base ligand of N,N’-bis(2-hydroxy-α-methylbenzylidene)ethylenediamine (HMBEDA) and its new iron(III) complex were synthesized and identified by analytical, spectral data (1H NMR, 13C NMR FT-IR and UV-visible) and molar conductance. A rapid and efficient homogeneous oxidative decarboxylation of some benzylcarboxylic acid derivatives was carried out by a catalytic amount of iron(III) Schiff base complex in chloroform, using tetrabutylammonium periodate as a mild oxidant in good to excellent yields at room temperature.  相似文献

A novel Schiff base ligand (H‐DPPMHQ) derived from 2‐hydrazineylquinoline and 1,3‐diphenyl‐1H‐pyrazole‐5‐carbaldehyde and its dimeric complexes with compositions [Cr(DPPMHQ)Cl]2?2Cl and [M(DPPMHQ)Cl]2 (where M = Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II)) have been synthesized and characterized using physicochemical methods like elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility and molar conductivity measurements, multispectral techniques and electrochemical studies. The molar conductance data reveal that all metal chelates are non‐electrolytes, except the Cr(III) complex which shows a ΛM value of 146.82 Ω?1 cm2 mol?1, indicating that it is a 1:2 electrolyte. Infrared spectral results show that the metal is organized through four nitrogen atoms (azomethine and deprotonated imine groups, pyrazole and quinoline rings) besides chlorine atoms. The NH proton is also displaced during complexation, as indicated by 1H NMR spectral data. Based on the electron spin resonance and ligand field parameter data, the bonding parameters of these complexes have been calculated. Using Coats–Redfern and Horowitz–Metzger equations, thermodynamic parameters were determined. The spectral data indicate that the dimeric complexes have octahedral geometry around the central metal ions. The cytotoxic activities of all compounds were evaluated towards human breast cancer (MCF‐7) and lung cancer (A549) cell lines.  相似文献

Four new mononuclear complexes, [Ni(L1)(NCS)2] (1), [Ni(L2)(NCS)2] (2), [Co(L1)(N3)2]ClO4 (3), and [Co(L2)(N3)2]ClO4 (4), where L1 and L2 are N,N′-bis[(pyridin-2-yl)methylidene]butane-1,4-diamine and N,N′-bis[(pyridin-2-yl)benzylidene]butane-1,4-diamine, respectively, have been prepared. The syntheses have been achieved by reaction of the respective metal perchlorate with the tetradentate Schiff bases, L1 and L2, in presence of thiocyanate (for 1 and 2) or azide (for 3 and 4). The complexes have been characterized by microanalytical, spectroscopic, single crystal X-ray diffraction and other physicochemical studies. Structural studies reveal that 14 are distorted octahedral geometries. The antibacterial activity of all the complexes and their constituent Schiff bases have been tested against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.  相似文献

Ruthenium(III) complexes of three tetradentate Schiff bases with N2O2 donors formulated as [RuCl(LL1)(H2O)], [RuCl(LL2)(H2O)] and [RuCl(LL3)(H2O)] were synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductance, FTIR, and electronic spectral measurements. The FTIR data showed that the tetradentate Schiff base ligands coordinate to Ru ions through the azomethine nitrogen and enolic oxygen. The antioxidant activities of the complexes were investigated through scavenging activity on 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2′-azinobis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) radicals. The DPPH activity for [RuCl(LL2)(H2O)] with IC50 = 0.031 mg mL?1 was higher than the values obtained for the other Ru(III) compounds. The study revealed that the synthesized Ru(III) complexes of the tetradentate Schiff base exhibited strong scavenging activities against DPPH and moderate against ABTS radicals. In addition, the antiproliferative studies of the complexes were also tested against human renal cancer cells (TK10), human melanoma cancer cells (UACC62), and human breast cancer cells (MCF7) using the SRB assay. The results indicated that the Ru(III) complexes showed low anticancer activities against the tested human cancer cell lines.  相似文献

Electrochemical reduction of FeIIILCl where L is a Schiff base has been investigated in various aprotic solvents. From a plot of the half wave potential E 1/2 for the reduction of these complexes vs. E 1/2 for the oxidation of ferrocene, the solvent–solute interactions were studied: the E 1/2 variation is found to be a function of Lewis-type acceptor–donor interactions. The diffusion coefficients D in the different solvents were also been determined by linear sweep voltammetry. The variation of D is discussed in terms of viscosity and dielectric constant.  相似文献

N,N′-bis((2-hydroxyphenyl)(phenyl)methylidene)propane-1,2-diaminato-N,N′,O,O′)-(nitrato-O)-manganese(III) methanol solvate ([Mn(C29H24N2O2)(NO3)CH3OH]) was synthesized and characterized by FTIR, UV–Vis, TG–FTIR, TG/DSC, molar conductivity, magnetic moment measurement and single crystal X-ray analysis. In the structure, the Mn(III) ion adopts a distorted octahedral geometry with two nitrogen and two oxygen atoms from the Schiff base ligand in the equatorial plane, and the nitrate ion and methanol molecule in the axial position. The effects of organic solvents of various polarities on the UV–Vis spectra of the ligand and complex were investigated. The manganese(III) complex is easily dissolved in organic polar aprotic solvents and has moderate solubility in organic polar protic solvents.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterization of several hexa‐coordinated ruthenium(III) Schiff base complexes of the type [RuX(EPh3)(L)] (X = Cl or Br; E = P or As; L = dianion of the tetradentate Schiff base) are reported. IR, EPR, electronic spectra and cyclic voltammetric data of the complexes are discussed. An octahedral geometry has been tentatively proposed for all of these complexes. The new complexes have been subjected to catalytic activity in the reaction of oxidation of alcohols in the presence of N‐methylmorpholine‐N‐oxide. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A series of vanadium(V) complexes with unsymmetrical tridentate Schiff base ligands, obtained by the single condensation of R(−)-1,2-diaminopropane with salicylaldehyde and its derivatives, 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde, 2-hydroxyacetophenone, 1-hydroxy-2-acetonaphthone and 2-hydroxybenzophenone, were prepared. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis and by their IR, CD, UV–Vis, 1D (1H, 51V) and 2D (COSY, NOESY, gHSQC) NMR spectra. Crystal structures of the mononuclear complex {R(−)-2-amino-1-N-[(2′-oxido-κO-4′,6′-dimethoxyphenyl)methylene]aminopropane-κ2N}dioxidovanadium(V), VO2(C12H17N2O3), 4, and of the dinuclear complex, di-μ-oxido-bis({R(−)-2-[1-(2-aminopropylimino)ethyl]-4-methylphenolato-κ3N,N′,O}oxidovanadium(V)), V2O4(C11H15N2O)2, 5, have been obtained by X-ray diffraction studies. The structure of 4 was revealed to be a distorted trigonal–bipyramidal coordination geometry, rarely encountered in VO2(tridentate Schiff base) complexes. Complexes 2 and 3 have the ability to catalyze the oxidation of prochiral sulfide substrates PhSR (R = Me, Bz) utilizing hydrogen peroxide or cumene hydroperoxide (CHPO) as the oxidant.  相似文献

Two new square pyramidal iron(III)-complexes of ‘salen’-type Schiff base ligands containing 4-substituted long alkoxy arms on the aromatic rings, [Fe(4-C16H33O)2salcn)]Cl and [Fe(4-C16H33O)2salophen)]Cl {salcn = N,N?-cyclohexanebis(salicylideneiminato) and salophen = N,N?-phenylenebis(salicylideneiminato)}, have been successfully synthesised, and their mesomorphic property investigated. The ligands and complexes were characterised by elemental analyses, UV–Vis, FT-IR, ESI–MS, 1H and 13C NMR (for ligands only). The phase behaviour of the iron(III) complexes were ascertained by differential scanning calorimetry, polarising optical microscopy and variable temperature PXRD study. Ligands are non-mesomorphic, however, mesomorphism got induced upon complexation with the iron(III) centre. X-ray diffraction study revealed a layer-like arrangement of the five coordinated mesomorphic iron(III) complexes. The mesophase is stable over a wide range of temperature. The density functional theory calculations were carried out using Gaussian 09 program at B3LYP level using unrestricted 6–31G (d, p) basis set to obtain the optimised geometry of the iron(III) complexes.  相似文献

Indium(III) chloride tetrahydrate and Schiff-base ligands derived from adamantaneamine and 3-/4-methoxysalicylaldehyde gave two complexes, C22H32Cl3InN2O3 (1) and C36H44Cl3InN2O4 (2), respectively. The complexes were characterized by IR, 1H NMR, elemental analysis, molar conductance, thermal analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic system, P21/n space group with the asymmetric unit consisting of one indium(III), one N-(3-methoxysalicylidene)-aminoadamantane (L1), three chlorides and one N,N-dimethylformamide molecule. The indium is six-coordinate with reversed triangular-prism geometry via three oxygens and three chlorides. Complex 2 crystallizes in the triclinic system, P 1 space group; the asymmetric unit consists of one indium(III), two N-(4methoxysalicylidene)-aminoadamantane (L2), and three chlorides. The indium is five-coordinate with distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry via two oxygens and three chlorides. Antibacterial activities of the complexes have been investigated against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.  相似文献

Two new Schiff base ligands comprising benzothiazole derivatives, namely (N,N′,E,N,N′E)-N,N′-(1,3-phenylenebis(methanylylidene))bis(5-nitrobenzo[d]thiazoL2-amine (L1) and (N,N′,E,N,N′E)-N,N′-(1,3-phenylene-bis(methanylylidene))bis(5-methylthiazo-L2-amine (L2), have been synthesized and thoroughly characterized using FTIR, 1H NMR, mass UV/vis and fluorescence spectral techniques. Further, L1 and L2 lead to the formation of lanthanide complexes 16 with Ce(III), Nd(III), and Pr(III) ions in 1:2 (metal:ligand) stoichiometry. UV/vis spectra of L1, L2 and 16 exhibit characteristic ligand centered absorptions in the range of 230–350 nm. Besides, both ligands and complexes show significant emissions and good anti-bacterial activity against pathogenic bacteria. Ligands and complexes display anti-bacterial activity against bacteria Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) (MTCC 1144) causing skin infection and food poisoning and pimple-causing bacteria propionic bacteria acnes (P. acnes) (MTCC 1951).  相似文献

Nine platinum(II) complexes containing reduced amino acid ester Schiff bases were synthesized and characterized using spectroscopy (1H NMR, 13C NMR, infrared), elemental analysis and molar conductivity. The interaction of these complexes with salmon sperm DNA was investigated by means of ultraviolet and circular dichroism spectroscopies. The potential antitumor activity of all compounds was tested in vitro on HeLa and A549 tumor cell lines. Almost all the complexes exhibited better cytotoxic activity than cisplatin against these cell lines.  相似文献

Reactions of triphenylantimony(III) with the corresponding Schiff bases in equimolar ratios yield the phenylantimony(III) derivatives, PhSb[RC(NC 6 H 4 S)CH 2 (NC 6 H 4 S)CCOOCH 3 ] (R = C 6 H 5 , 4-ClC 6 H 4 , 4-BrC 6 H 4 , and 4-CH 3 C 6 H 4 ). These derivatives have been characterized by elemental analyses, molecular weight measurements, and IR as well as NMR ( 1 H and 13 C) spectral studies which reveal a five coordination around the central antimony atom.  相似文献
