1 INTRODUCTION Schiff base ligands have played an important role in the development of coordination chemistry as they readily form stable complexes with most metal ions[1~4]. These complexes are very interesting in many fields, such as catalysis and enzymatic reac- tions[5, 6], magnetism and molecular architectures[7~9]. The complexes derived from the similar tridentate Schiff base ligand 2-[(2-dimethylaminoethylimino)- methyl]phenol[10, 11] and its derivatives[12~14] have been widely …  相似文献

The synthesis, characterization and reactivity of ytterbium monochloride supported by tridentate Schiff base ligands are described. The metathesis reaction of anhydrous YbCl3 with 1 equivalent of the sodium salt of a Schiff base, [{LNa(THF)}2] (1) [LH = 3,5-But2-2-(OH)-C6H2CHN-8-C9H6N], gave the ytterbium Schiff base monochloride complex L2YbCl (2). Complex 2 reacted with NaOAr (OAr = OC6H3But-2-Me-4) in a 1:1 molar ratio to form the desired aryloxo derivative L2Yb(OAr) (3). Complex 3 can also be prepared by the one-pot reaction of the Schiff base HL, n-BuLi, YbCl3 and NaOAr in a 2:2:1:1 molar ratio. However, an unprecedented ytterbium aryloxide LL′Yb(OAr) (4) (L′ = 3,5-But2-2-(O)C6H2CH(C4H9)-NH-8-C9H6N) can be isolated in low yield as a byproduct in the later case. Reaction of complex 2 with 1 equivalent of (CH2CH-CH2)MgBr in THF afforded the unexpected complex [Mg(H2N-8-C9H6N)Cl(THF)3]Br (5). Complexes 2-5 were fully characterized by elemental analysis and X-ray diffraction.  相似文献

Seven diorganotin complexes with the Schiff bases derived from salicylaldehyde and l-tyrosine, R2Sn[2-O-5-XC6H3CH?=?NCH(CH2C6 H4OH-4)COO] (X?=?H (1), Br (2); R?=?Me (a), Et (b), Bu (c), Cy (cyclohexyl) (d)), were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectra, and the single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In methanol, the racemization of chiral center of l-tyrosinate fragment occurred and the racemic products were obtained. X-ray analyses of 1c, 1d, and 2a2c showed that the tin atoms of the complexes exhibit distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometries. In 1c, 1d, and 2c, the intermolecular O–H???O hydrogen bonds connected the molecules into 1-D supramolecular chain or a R22(20) macrocyclic dimer, and 2a and 2b formed the 2-D supramolecular network by the intermolecular Sn???O and O–H???O interactions. Bioassay results indicated that 1a, 1c, and 1d had moderate antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and 1c, 1d, and 2c belonged to the efficient cytostatic agents against two human tumor cell lines (A549 and HeLa) and the activity tends to follow the order Cy > Bu?>?Et?>?Me for the R group attached to tin.  相似文献

Keeping in view the chemotherapeutic of the sulfa-drugs, Schiff base namely 2-thiophene carboxaldehyde-sulfametrole (HL) and its tri-positive and di-positive metal complexes have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, 1H NMR, solid reflectance, magnetic moment, molar conductance, mass spectra, UV-vis and thermal analysis (TGA and DrTG). The low molar conductance values suggest the non-electrolytic nature of these complexes. IR spectra show that HL is coordinated to the metal ions in a tetradentate manner through hetero five-membered ring-S and azomethine-N, enolic sulfonamide-OH and thiadiazole-N, respectively. Zn(II), Cd(II) and UO2(II) complexes are found to be diamagnetic (as expected). The proposed general formulae of the prepared complexes are [M2X4(HL)(H2O)4] (where M=Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II), X=Cl, [Fe2Cl6(HL)(H2O)2], [(FeSO4)2(HL)(H2O)4] and [(UO2)2(HL) (NO3)4].H2O. The thermal behaviour of these chelates shows that the hydrated complexes loss water of hydration in first step in case of uranium complexes followed loss coordinated water followed immediately by decomposition of the anions and ligand molecules in the subsequent steps. The activation thermodynamic parameters, such as DeltaE*, DeltaH*, DeltaS*, and DeltaG* are calculated from the DrTG curves using Coats-Redfern method. The antimicrobial activity of the obtained products was performed using Chloramphenicol and Grisofluvine as standards, indicate that in some cases metallation increase activity than the ligand.  相似文献

A series of six-coordinate ruthenium(II) complexes [Ru(CO)(L x )(B)] (B = PPh3, AsPh3 or Py; L x = unsymmetrical tetradentate Schiff base, x = 5–8; L5= salen-2-hyna, L6= Cl-salen-2-hyna, L7= valen-2-hyna, L8= o-hyac-2-hyna) have been prepared by reacting [RuHCl(CO)(EPh3)2(B)] (E = P or As) with unsymmetrical Schiff bases in benzene under reflux. The new complexes have been characterized by analytical and spectroscopic (infrared, electronic, 1H, 31P, and 13C NMR) data. An octahedral structure has been assigned for all the complexes. The new complexes are efficient catalysts for the transfer hydrogenation of ketones and also exhibit catalytic activity for the carbon–carbon coupling reactions.  相似文献

We report the biological activity of the new Schiff base ligand H2L (H2L = 6,6′-((1E,11E)-5,8-dioxa-2,11-diazadodeca-1,11-diene-1,12-diyl)bis(2,4-dichlorophenol)), its derived metal(II) complexes [Cu(L)] (1), [Co(L)] (2), [Ni(L)] (3) and [Zn(L)] (4), along with their structural characterizations by using various analytical and spectroscopic techniques. Electrochemical investigations showed that all of these Cu(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes were reversibly reducible. Although the change of the number of unpaired electrons are different of the metal cations, they have an effect on the redox potentials of the Co(II)/(I), Ni(II)/(I) and Cu(II)/(I) couples. The 1H NMR and FTIR data concluded that the Schiff base ligand H2L acts as a hexadentate ligand coordinating with metal(II) ions through the oxygen atoms of the (COC), phenolic (COH) groups and nitrogen atom of the azomethine (CHN) group. UV-Visible absorption spectra studies clearly revealed the octahedral geometry of the prepared metal(II) complexes. Complexes 1 and 4 were found to be efficient in bringing about antimicrobial activities. The proposed mechanism of their antimicrobial activities has been discussed. 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay showed the remarkable cytotoxicity of complex 1 (IC50 = 17 ± 1.3 μg/mL) on human breast cancer MCF-7 cells than Schiff base ligand H2L and complexes 2–4. Moreover, AO/EB staining assay revealed cell death due to apoptosis in MCF-7 cells and the generation of ROS by the Schiff base ligand H2L and its derived metal(II) complexes 1–4 may be a possible cause for their cytotoxic activity.  相似文献

New metallointercalators (1a1e) have been synthesized using the Schiff base, 4-[phenyl(phenylimino)methyl]benzene-1,3-diol and metal(II) ions, viz. Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II). They are characterized by analytical and spectral methods. Elemental analyses and molar conductance values reveal that the Schiff base metal(II) complexes have 1?:?2 stoichiometry and are non-electrolytes. The Schiff base (HL) binds with M(II) ions through azomethine and deprotonated phenolic groups. Thermal studies reveal the presence of water in 1a1c. Powder X-ray diffraction and SEM studies show that all the complexes are microcrystalline with homogenous morphology. In vitro biological activities of HL and 1a1e have been screened against bacteria and fungi by well diffusion technique, revealing that these complexes are good antimicrobial agents against various pathogens. The complexes exhibit better biological activities than HL. Complex 1d binds with Calf thymus DNA through intercalation and weak covalent interactions. The oxidative cleavage of 1a1e with pUC 19 DNA has also been explored. The results indicate that they bind to DNA through intercalation and are efficient metallointercalators and cleaving agents.  相似文献

Three new metal complexes [Cu(L)2] (1), [Co(L)2] (2) and [Zn(L)2] (3) have been prepared by the reaction of hydrated salts of metal (II) acetate with new Schiff base ligand HL, [2‐((4‐(dimethylamino)phenylimino)methyl)‐4,6‐di‐t‐butylphenol] and characterized by different physico‐chemical analyses such as elemental analysis, single XRD, 1H NMR, FTIR and UV–Vis spectroscopic techniques. Their biomolecular docking, antimicrobial and cytotoxicity studies have also been demonstrated. The proposed structure of Schiff base ligand HL and complex 2 are confirmed by Single crystal X‐ray crystallography study. This analysis revealed that metal (II) complexes remain in distorted tetrahedral coordination environments. The electronic properties such as HOMO and LUMO energies are carried out by gaseous phase DFT/B3LYP calculations using Gaussian 09 program. Complex 1 showed a good binding propensity to the DNA and HSA, during the assessment of docking studies. Schiff base ligand HL and its metal (II) complexes, 1–3 screened for their in vitro antimicrobial activities using the disc diffusion method against selected microbes. Complex 1 shows higher antimicrobial activity than complexes 2, 3 and Schiff base ligand HL. According to the results obtained from the cytotoxic studies, Schiff base ligand HL and its metal (II) complexes 1–3 have better cytotoxicity against MCF‐7 cell lines with potency higher than the currently used chemotherapeutic agent cyclophosphamide.  相似文献

Rare-earth complexes of the general formula [Ln(H2L1)2(NO3)3] [Ln = Gd (1), Ho (2) or Nd (3)] were prepared from an o-vanillin derived Schiff base ligand, 2-((E)-(1-hydroxy-2-methylpropan-2-ylimino)methyl)-6-methoxyphenol (H2L1). The single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies and SHAPE analyses of the Gd(III) and Ho(III) complexes show that the complexes are ten-coordinate and exhibit distorted tetradecahedron geometries. The phenolate oxygen-bridged dinuclear complex, [Ce2(H2L1)(ovan)3(NO3)3] (4, ovan = monodeprotonated o-vanillin), was obtained from the reaction of Ce(NO3)3?6H2O with H2L1. X-ray analysis revealed that hydrolysis of H2L1 occurred to yield o-vanillin, which bridged two cerium atoms with the Ce?Ce distance equal to 3.8232(6) Å. The Ce(III) ions are both ten-coordinate, but have different coordination environments, showing tetradecahedron and staggered dodecahedron geometries, respectively. With proton migration occurring from the phenol group to the imine function, complexation of the lanthanides to the ligand gives the Schiff base a zwitterionic phenoxo-iminium form.  相似文献

Four divalent metal(II) complexes, namely [Co(II)L(H2O)Cl]·2H2O, [Ni(II)L(H2O)Cl]·4H2O, [Cu(II)L(H2O)Cl]·3H2O, and [Zn(II)L(H2O)Cl]·5H2O, {L = 2‐furan‐2‐ylmethyleneamino‐phenyl‐iminomethylphenol}, were synthesized and characterized by several techniques. The molar conductance measurement of all analyzed complexes in DMSO showed their non‐electrolytic nature. The new Schiff base ligand (HL) acts as tetradentate ligand, coordinated through deprotonated phenolic oxygen, furan ring oxygen, and two azomethine nitrogen atoms. The ligand field parameters were measured for the metal complexes, which were found to be in the range notified for an octahedral structure. The molecular structural parameters of the synthesized HL ligand and its related metal(II) complexes were calculated and correlated with the experimental parameters such as infrared (IR) data. The investigated ligand and metal complexes were screened for their in vitro antimicrobial activities against different types of fungal and bacterial strains. The resulting data confirmed the examined compounds as a highly promising bactericides and fungicides. The antitumor activities of all inspected compounds were evaluated against colon carcinoma (HCT‐116) and mouse myelogenous leukemia carcinoma (M‐NFS‐60) cell lines. The inhibition effect of HL ligand and its isolated complexes on the corrosion carbon in the form of a rod of area 0.35 cm2 in HCl was investigated by measuring the weight loss at 25 °C.  相似文献

The bivalent zinc and cadmium complexes of two Schiff bases N-(2-pyridylmethyl)pyridine-2-carbaldimine (L1), N-(2-pyridylmethyl)pyridine-2-methylketimine (L2), tridentate ligands with an N3 chromophore and coordinating with two five-membered chelate rings, were synthesized. Complexes [Zn(L1)(NO3)2] (1), [Zn(L2)(NO3)2] (2), [Cd(L1)(NO3)2(H2O)] (3) and [Cd(L2)(NO3)2(CH3OH)] (4) were characterized by X-ray crystallography. In 1 and 2, Zn(II) has a distorted square-pyramidal geometry where as in 3 and 4, Cd(II) possesses a pseudo-pentagonal-bipyramidal geometry. The following trends in the bond lengths are observed: M–Nim < M–Npy; Zn–N > Zn–O; Cd–N < Cd–O. The final residues from the thermogravimetric analysis are ZnO and CdO, the SEM studies revealed, respectively, their porous and spherical natures. The average activation energy (E) for the loss of pyridine rings obtained from the Friedman fitting of the DSC data, for 1, 2, 3, and 4 are 193.8(2), 114.5(3), 127.1(4), and 63.7(3) kJ mol−1 and their logarithmic pre-exponential factor (A) are 11.22, 5.31, 6.88, and 2.09, respectively.  相似文献

1 INTRODUCTION Palladium (Ⅱ) coordination and organometallic compounds usually show square planar environments at the metal center[1], and have experienced an im- portant development in the past years due to their acting as intermediates in different types of catalytic reactions and numerous applications in organic synthesis[2]. Although palladium plays an increase- ingly recognized role as a biometal[3], little is known about the structure and function of palladium compounds in living …  相似文献

A tetradentate N2O2 donor Schiff base ligand, H2L, was synthesized by the condensation of 4,6-diacetylresorcinol with benzylamine. The structure of the ligand was elucidated by elemental analyses, IR, 1H NMR, electronic and mass spectra. Reaction of the Schiff base ligand with nickel(II), cobalt(II), iron(III), cerium(III), vanadyl(IV) and uranyl(VI) ions in 1:2 molar ratio afforded binuclear metal complexes. Also, reaction of the ligand with several copper(II) salts, including Cl-, NO3-, AcO-, ClO4- and SO42- afforded different metal complexes that reflect the non-coordinating or weakly coordinating power of the ClO(4)(-) anion as compared to the strongly coordinating power of SO42- and Cl- anions. Characterization and structure elucidation of the prepared complexes were achieved by elemental and thermal analyses, IR, 1H NMR, electronic, mass and ESR spectra as well as magnetic susceptibility measurements. The metal complexes exhibited different geometrical arrangements such as square planar, octahedral, square pyramidal and pentagonal bipyramidal arrangements. The variety in the geometrical arrangements depends on the nature of both the anion and the metal ion.  相似文献

One-pot synthesis of 1-([6-bromo-2-hydroxy-naphthalen-1-yl]-aryl-phenyl)methyl)-3-chloro-4-(aryl-phenyl)azetidin-2-ones has been reported in the present research work via Staudinger [2 + 2] ketene-imine cycloaddition reaction pathway. The reaction of 1-((Benzylideneamino)(aryl)methyl)-6-bromo-naphthalen-2-ols with chloroacetic acid and triethylamine afforded 1-([6-bromo-2-hydroxynaphthalen-1-yl]aryl-phenyl)methyl)-3-chloro-4-(aryl-phenyl)azetidin-2-ones. For the structural elucidation of series of compounds, different analytical and spectroscopic techniques such as elemental analysis, IR spectra, 1H-NMR spectra and mass spectra were used. All the newly synthesized compounds were tested for their anti-bacterial activity studies. It revealed that some of the compounds possesses moderate to good activities as compared to standard drugs. The widest spectrum of anti-bacterial activities against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial strains among the examined compounds possessed having more hydroxyl group along with β-lactam ring compared to other substituted azetidinones.  相似文献
