One-loop factorization for inclusive hadron production in p-A collisions in the saturation formalism
We demonstrate the QCD factorization for inclusive hadron production in p-A collisions in the saturation formalism at one-loop order, with explicit calculation of both real and virtual gluon radiation diagrams. In particular, we find that the cross section can be written into a factorization form in the coordinate space at the next-to-leading order, while the naive form of the convolution in the transverse momentum space does not hold. The collinear divergences associated with the incoming parton distribution of the nucleon and the outgoing fragmentation function of the final-state hadron, as well as the rapidity divergence with small-x dipole gluon distribution of the nucleus are factorized into the splittings of the associated parton distribution and fragmentation functions and the energy evolution of the dipole gluon distribution function. The hard coefficient function is evaluated at one-loop order, and contains no divergence. 相似文献

High precision soft hadron abundance data produced in relativistic nuclear collisions at LHC at
GeV will become available beginning in 2007/8. We explore, within the statistical hadronization model, how these results
can help us understand the properties of the deconfined quark-gluon phase at its breakup. We make assumptions about the physical
properties of the fireball and obtain particle production predictions. Then, we develop a strategy to measure parameters of
interest, such as strangeness occupancy γs, chemical potentials μB and μS.

We study the single production of fourth-family quarks through the process pp→Q′jX at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We have calculated the decay widths and branching ratios of the fourth-family quarks
(b′ and t′) in the mass range 300–800 GeV. The cross sections for the signal and background processes have been calculated in a Monte
Carlo framework. It is shown that the LHC can discover single t′ and b′ quarks if the CKM matrix elements |V

We use renormalization-group methods in effective field theory to improve the theoretical prediction for the cross section
for Higgs-boson production at hadron colliders. In addition to soft-gluon resummation at N3LL, we also resum enhanced contributions of the form (C

, which arise in the analytic continuation of the gluon form factor to time-like momentum transfer. This resummation is achieved
by evaluating the matching corrections arising at the Higgs-boson mass scale at a time-like renormalization point μ
2<0, followed by renormalization-group evolution to μ
2>0. We match our resummed result to NNLO fixed-order perturbation theory and give numerical predictions for the total production
cross section as a function of the Higgs-boson mass. Resummation effects are significant even at NNLO, where our improved
predictions for the cross sections at the Tevatron and the LHC exceed the fixed-order predictions by about 13% and 8%, respectively,
for m

We present predictions for the inclusive production of leptons (e±,μ±) originating from charm and bottom hadrons at the CERN LHC in the general-mass variable-flavour-number scheme at next-to-leading order. Detailed numerical results are compared to data of the CMS, ATLAS and ALICE Collaborations. 相似文献

In the framework of the Randall-Sundrum-like scenario with the small curvature κ (RSSC model), p ⊥-distributions for the dielectron production at the LHC are calculated. For the summary statistics taken at 7 TeV (L = 5 fb?1) and 8 TeV (L = 20 fb?1), the exclusion limit on the 5-dimensional gravity scale M 5 is found to be 6.35 TeV at 95% C.L. For √s = 13 TeV and integrated luminosity 30 fb?1, the LHC search limit is estimated to be 8.95 TeV. These limits on M 5 are independent of κ, provided the relation κ ? M 5 is satisfied. 相似文献

The topcolor-assisted technicolor(TC2)model predicts a number of neutral SCalars like the top-pion (π0t)and the top-Higgs(h0t).These scalar8 have flavor-changing neutral-current(FCNC)top quark couphngs, among which the top-charm transition couplings may be sizable.Such FCNC couplings induce single top productions associated with a neutral scalar at the CERN Large Hadron Collider(LHC)through the parton processes cg→tπ0t and cg→th0t.In this paper we examine these productions and find their production rates can exceed the 3σ sensitivity of the LHC in a large part of parameter space.Since in the Standard Model and the minimal supersymmetric model such rare productions have unobservably small production rates at the LHC.these rare processes will serve as a good probe for the TC2 model. 相似文献

Single slepton production in association with a top quark at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is one of the important processes in probing the R-parity violation couplings. We calculate the QCD next-to-leading order (NLO) corrections to the $pp \to t\tilde{\ell}^{-}(\bar{t}\tilde{\ell}^{+})+X$ process at the LHC and discuss the impacts of the QCD corrections on kinematic distributions. We investigate the dependence of the leading order (LO) and the NLO QCD corrected integrated cross section on the factorization/renormalization energy scale, slepton, stop-quark and gluino masses. We find that the uncertainty of the LO cross section due to the energy scale is obviously improved by the NLO QCD corrections, and the exclusive jet event selection scheme keeps the convergence of the perturbative series better than the inclusive scheme. The results show that the polarization asymmetry of the top-quark will be reduced by the NLO QCD corrections, and the QCD corrections generally increase with the increment of the $\tilde{t}_{1}$ or $\tilde {g}$ mass value. 相似文献

In nucleus-nucleus collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), one generically observes a strong medium-induced suppression of high- pT hadron production. This suppression is accounted for in models which assume a significant medium-induced radiative energy loss of high- pT parent partons produced in the collision. How can we further test the microscopic dynamics conjectured to underlie this abundant high- pT phenomenon? What can we learn about the dynamics of parton fragmentation, and what can we learn about the properties of the medium which modifies it? Given that inelastic parton scattering is expected to be the dominant source of partonic equilibration processes, can we use hard processes as an experimentally well-controlled window into QCD non-equilibrium dynamics? Here I review what has been achieved so far, and which novel opportunities open up with higher luminosity at RHIC, and with the wider kinematical range accessible soon at the LHC.Received: 15 February 2005, Published online: 3 June 2005PACS:

Experimental data for nucleus-nucleus collisions at the CERN SPS suggest that an ideal hadron gas model is unable to account simultaneously (same baryonic chemical potential and temperature at freeze-out) for the strange anti-baryon to baryon ratios and pion abundances. Using a thermodynamically consistent excluded volume model we examine possibilities to account for the observed excess of pions. 相似文献

Cross sections for J/ψ mesons produced in association with open charm and two charmed hadrons from different $c\bar c$ pairs under LHC conditions are predicted theoretically. The respective processes are considered both in single and in double parton interactions. Particular attention is given to kinematical limits of the LHCb detector, and a comparison with the most recent experimental data is performed for them. 相似文献

We calculated the single spin asymmetry in the inclusive pion production in the fragmentation region of transversely polarized proton-proton collisions. We generated the asymmetry at the level of fragmentation function (Collins effect) by the Lund coloured string mechanism. We compared our results to the presently available experimental data. We obtained a qualitative agreement with the data after assuming that the transverse polarizations of the u and the d quarks in the proton are +1 and ? 1, respectively, at xB=1. 相似文献
