A compact high-speed tuning laser source is demonstrated in two different configurations using a polygonal mirror scanner without a telescope. It is shown that the filter configuration finesse increases by utilizing multiple reflections from the polygon facet(s) and grating illumination(s). Theoretically, the free spectral range (FSR), the instantaneous linewidth, and the finesse of each filter configuration are derived. For single grating illumination, the measured coherence length, FSR, and power were 2.8 mm, 184 nm, and 40 mW at the scanning frequency of 50 kHz, respectively. Coherence length, FSR, and power of the second laser configuration were 6.2 mm, 117 nm, and 35 mW, respectively. Finally, images of a human finger were acquired in vivo using two proposed swept-source configurations.  相似文献

根据Vernier效应可大幅度提高滤波器自由光谱范围和调谐范围,设计了一种热光可调谐级联微环滤波器. 利用传输矩阵方法和有限元方法从理论上计算了对于第一级微环半径为48 μm,第二级半径为50 μm的级联微环滤波器的自由光谱范围和调谐范围可以达到75.6 nm,而功耗仅为103.1 mW,这是目前为止我们 所知的基于微环谐振腔的硅基热光可调谐滤波器中最大的自由光谱范围和在如此低功耗下最大的调谐范围. 利用有限元方法,还计算了半径为50 μm微环的热光调谐响应时间,上升沿时间为3.5 μs,下降沿时间仅为0.8 μs.  相似文献

A tunable and switchable single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) dual-wavelength fiber laser incorporating a reconfigurable dual-pass Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) filter was proposed and demonstrated, which can be applied in microwave generation. By incorporating a high extinction ratio (ER) dual-pass MZI into an erbium-doped fiber ring cavity, SLM dual-wavelength lasing can be achieved even using a MZI with relatively little free spectrum range (FSR), and by beating the two wavelengths at a photodetector, a 9.76 GHz microwave signal with a 3-dB bandwidth of less than 10 kHz is obtained. Moreover, by direct linking the two outputs of the MZI, the high ER dual-pass MZI is easily reconfigured as a half FSR dual-pass MZI. Using this structure, switchable SLM dual-wavelength lasing can be conveniently realized.  相似文献

A distributed access scheme using optical add/drop multiplexers (OADMs) for long reach hybrid wavelength division multiplexing and time division multiplexing passive optical networks (WDM-TDM PONs) is proposed and demonstrated. Colorless operations are implemented by using commercially available reflective semiconductor optical amplifiers (RSOAs) at both the center office (CO) and the customer side. Four 1.25-Gb/s channels are successfully transmitted over 80-km single-mode fiber with four OADMs. The dynamic input power range of the RSOA is also investigated. Compared with traditional access schemes, the proposed scheme could cover the area along the feed fiber with no blind zone. The experimental results show that it could be an ideal solution for the next generation access networks.  相似文献

Temporal cavity solitons(CSs) have excellent properties that can sustain their shape in a temporal profile and with a broadband, smooth-frequency spectrum. We propose a method for controllable frequency line spacing soliton formation in a microresonator using two continuous-wave(CW) pumps with multi-free-spectral-range(FSR) spacing. The method we propose has better control over the amount and location of the solitons traveling in the cavity compared to the tuning pump method. We also find that by introducing a second pump with frequency N FSR from the first pump, solitons with N FSR comb spacing can be generated.  相似文献

We describe a method for measuring the phase error distribution of an arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) in the frequency domain when the free spectral range (FSR) of the AWG is so wide that it cannot be covered by one tunable laser source. Our method is to sweep the light frequency in the neighborhoods of two successive peaks in the AWG transmission spectrum by using two laser sources with different tuning ranges. The method was confirmed experimentally by applying it to a 160 GHz spaced AWG with a FSR of 11 THz. The variations in the derived phase error data were very small at +/-0.02 rad around the central arrayed waveguides.  相似文献

基于双折射铌酸锂晶体的电光效应,设计了一种偏振无关的二端口波导型多波长可调谐滤波器.在非对称干涉仪的上下分支波导上,耦合电极与相移电极周期性交叉级联实现模式的偏振转换.利用琼斯矩阵的Z域分析,求解驱动电压模拟实现多个波长的同时选择.仿真实现了自由光谱范围内分布任意的窄带多波长输出.波长中心处传输率为100%;旁瓣大小受到所选波长个数的影响,三个波长同时滤波的旁瓣可达12 dB.同时得到了梳状滤波输出谱,其通带顶部平坦,旁瓣可达15 dB以上.  相似文献

A microring resonator (MRR) system incorporating an add/drop system is presented. The finesse of the proposed system can be determined using the full width at half maximum (FWHM) and free spectrum range (FSR) of the generated multiple soliton pulses. The central wavelength of the bright input soliton pulse has been selected as 800 nm, at which a ring system with better sensitivity shows high finesse that is suitable for applications to many optical communication systems such as optical transmitters and sensors. Simulation results show that FSR of 0.3 nm and 1.1 ns and FWHM of 10 pm and 36.6 ps could be obtained. Therefore, a system with finesse of 30 can be obtained; in such a system, the MRR system shows high performance. This system can be used in optical communication networks as a transmitter system for optical soliton pulses with finesse of 30, and theses pulses can be detected via an optical receiver.  相似文献

The study proposes a new structure to double the free-spectral range (FSR) of a micro-ring resonator filter using optical interference. The proposed structure adds an input light to the Add port of the conventional two-bus one-ring (TBOR) filter and adds a phase shifter to tuning the light. The FSR of the conventional TBOR filter can be doubled by the interference from the light field of the new input port. In the study, the effects of the output spectrum depending on the phase shift, coupling coefficient, and loss are discussed. The results show that the resonance wavelength changes by tuning of the phase shifter which increases the choice of wavelength. Meanwhile a flat pass band, a sharpness degree of edge rolloff, a high quality factor as high as 105 and a perfect extinction effect can be obtained by selecting a proper coupling coefficient. However loss can bring more crosstalk which should be decreased as more as possible.  相似文献

Modeling of triple asymmetrical optical micro ring resonator (TAOMRR) in z-domain with 2?×?2 input-output system with detailed design of its waveguide configuration using finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is presented. Transfer function in z-domain using delay-line signal processing technique of the proposed TAOMRR is determined for different input and output ports. The frequency response analysis is carried out using MATLAB software. Group delay and dispersion characteristics are also determined in MATLAB. The electric field analysis is done using FDTD. The method proposes a new methodology to design and draw multiple configurations of coupled ring resonators having multiple in and out ports. Various important parameters such as coupling coefficients and FSR are also determined.  相似文献

A class of whispering-gallery-mode resonators, herein referred to as adiabatic microring resonators, is proposed and numerically demonstrated. Adiabatic microrings enable electrical and mechanical contact to be made to the resonator without inducing radiation, while supporting only a single radial mode and therein achieving an uncorrupted free spectral range (FSR). Rigorous finite-difference time-domain simulations indicate that adiabatic microrings with outer diameters as small as 4 μm can achieve resonator quality factors (Qs) as high as Q = 88,000 and an FSR of 8.2 THz, despite large internal contacts.  相似文献

In this paper, a design of a generic multipurpose device is described. It can operate, in its basic structure, as a tunable wavelength filter, wavelength multiplexer or λ router; by using a more complex structure, the device works as an optical add drop multiplexer (OADM) or/and optical switch (OS). It can be used in both coarse and dense wavelength division multiplexing technology (CWDM/DWDM) according to the network application. Performance parameters of the device, like switching time, losses, crosstalk or polarization insensitivity are analyzed and compared with other switching technologies. Some applications of the holographic WDM multifunction device in METRO networks are described, such as the utilization of OADMs in optical path protection/reconfiguration between nodes (1 + 1 configuration) and the use of optical switches to interconnect nodes of the METRO–access network with the METRO-Core or long haul networks in a reconfigurable topology. Other applications in Access networks are possible, like the use of the OADMs in optical path protection between the optical line termination (OLT) at the central office (CO) and the remote node (RN) in a fiber to the office passive-optical network (FTTO-PON) or, in some specific cases, the utilization as tuneable holographic filters in a FTTO application, at the Business ONT (BONT), to select the assigned optical wavelength according to the services provided to the customer.  相似文献

A tunable multiwavelength Brillouin-erbium fiber laser (MW-BEFL) using a twin-core fiber (TCF) coupler is proposed and demonstrated. The TCF coupler is formed by splicing a section of TCF between two single-mode fibers. By simply applying bending curvature on the TCF coupler, the peak net gain is shifted close to the Brillouin pump (BP), which has advantage for suppressing self-lasing cavity modes with low-BP-power injection. In this work, the dependency of the Stokes signals tuning range on the free spectral range (FSR) of TCF coupler is studied. It is also found that the tuning range of MW-BEFL can exceed the FSR of TCF coupler by adopting proper BP power and 980-nm pump power. Up to 40 nm tuning range of MW-BEFL in the absence of self-lasing cavity modes is achieved.  相似文献

We discuss how to generate a dynamical Dp-brane with a topology of Rp-2×S2 from N D(p-2)-branes with Rp-2 topology with or without the presence of a constant RR(p+2)-form flux.This extends the previous work(Chen and Lu 2004 arXiv:hep-th/0405265)of generating a dynamical spherical D2 brane from N DO branes in a constant RR four-form flux to a general p.In particular,dynamically generating a higher dimensional brane from lower dimensional ones does not necessarily need the presence of a relevant RR background flux but needs excess energy,lending support to the spacetime uncertainty principle.The time evolution of the dynamical p-brane for a general p remains the same as for the p=2 case,however there is a class of spatial dependent Dp configurations when p≥3.Some of these spatial-dependent Dp brane configurations and their properties have been discussed previously which can also be obtained from the time-dependent one by euclideanizing the time.Properties of the spatial-dependent solutions and their relations to the corresponding brane-anti brane system are discussed.  相似文献

In this paper, we have investigated the wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) system using ring network topology. This network is used to increase the capacity with eight optical add/drop multiplexers (OADMs) by using dispersion compensating fiber and semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) to achieve a distance up to 1600 km. It is observed that network shows the acceptable results at 15 Gbps data rate with 100 GHz channel spacing. The OADM nodes are also varied to investigate the network performance in the term of BER and Q-factor.  相似文献

We demonstrate a new class of all-fiber frequency comb filter that exhibits unprecedented capabilities for tuning the comb's free spectral range (FSR). The filter exploits a spectral Talbot-like effect in a sampled chirped fiber Bragg grating. The FSR is tailored by application of a linear strain gradient to modify the relative phase between the samples. The FSR can be tuned in discrete steps that correspond to the nominal value of the FSR of the sampled unchirped grating divided by integer factors. In this demonstration the FSR is varied from 51 to 3.9 GHz.  相似文献

We present a summary of results obtained for scalar field theories usingt he Feynman-Schwinger (FSR) approach. Specifically, scalar QED and X2φ theories are considered. The motivation behind the applications discussed in this paper is to use the FSR method as a rigorous tool for testing the quality of commonly used approximations in field theory. Exact calculations in a quenched theory are presented for one-, two-, and three-body bound states. Results obtained indicate that some of the commonly used approximations, such as Bethe-Salpeter ladder summation for bound states and the rainbow summation for one-body problems, produce significantly different results from those obtained from the FSR approach. We find that more accurate results can be obtained using other, simpler, approximation schemes.  相似文献

We propose a new optical system that can be used to form the multi-soliton pulses within the micro-ring resonators. The system consists of two micro-ring resonators and an add/drop multiplexer that can be integrated into a single system. The large bandwidth signal is generated by using a soliton pulse propagating in a Kerr-type nonlinear medium. The tuned soliton pulses in either spatial or temporal modes are obtained by using the add/drop multiplexer. Results obtained have shown that the multi-soliton pulses can be localized coherently within the micro-ring waveguide. This is shown that the generation of the multi-soliton pulses within the micro-ring resonator is achieved, which is available for long-distance communication with dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM). The significant increase in channel number and spacing are obtained, whereas the large free spectrum range (FSR) of 600 pm is achieved.  相似文献

The dimensions of input waveguide and output waveguide of arrayed waveguide gratings (AWGs) determine the crosstalk, insertion loss and 1-dB bandwidth. In cascaded optical add/drop multiplexers (OADMs), the value of these parameters will largely affect the power penalty of system. The power penalty of cascaded OADMs is calculated with different waveguide dimensions of AWGs in this paper. Considering of wavelength misalignment, an optimization design of AWGs is obtained.  相似文献

In this paper, using a direct double-pass and a novel isolator-assisted double-pass waveguide-based Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI), high-performance SOA-based multiwavelength fiber lasers (MFL) are proposed and demonstrated experimentally. The filtering characteristics of the proposed isolator-assisted double-pass MZI are analyzed and examined theoretically in comparison with those of the single-pass and direct double-pass MZI. Using a direct double-pass waveguide-based MZI with the single-pass free spectral range (FSR) of 43 GHz, up to 115- and 104-channel simultaneous oscillations spaced at 21.5 GHz in the L-band and C-band are obtained, respectively, with a power non-uniformity of less than 3 dB and an extinction ratio of ∼30 dB. To the best of our knowledge, it is the highest lasing-channel count that has been achieved from an SOA-based MFL. To enhance the extinction ratio while maintaining the FSR, the proposed isolator-assisted double-pass MZI is then utilized in the laser cavity, and a stable 55-wavelength simultaneous oscillation spaced at 43 GHz is accordingly achieved in C-band with an extinction ratio of higher than 50 dB. Compared with the lasing linewidth of 0.058 nm with the conventional single-pass MZI, narrower linewidths of 0.038 and 0.028 nm are obtained with the isolator-assisted and direct double-pass MZI configurations, respectively. The lasers are stable with a maximum power fluctuation per channel of less than 0.8 dB during an hour’s test.  相似文献
