A dc polarographic and cyclic voltammetric study has been made of the reduction of Sb(III) ions from 0.01 M HCl+3.99 M HClO4 and 0.001 M HCl+3.999 M HClO4 supporting electrolytes in which a quasi-reversible, respectively irreversible behaviour is observed. It is shown that the Sb(III) reduction can be explained on the assumption of a reaction mechanism that consists of three successive one-electron transfers. Along the reduction wave the Sb(III)→Sb(II) and Sb(II)→Sb(I) step are rate determining, respectively at more negative and more positive potentials. Kinetic parameters were determined and the rate constants are shown to increase with chloride ion concentration.  相似文献

Tetraethylammonium hexacyanomanganate(III) was studied in formamide, N-methylformamide, methanol, propylenecarbonate, N,N-dimethylthioformamide, N-methylthiopyrrolidinone(2), butyrolactone, acetonitrile, dimethylsulfoxide, N,N-dimethylformamide, N-methylpyrrolidinone(2), nitromethane and tetramethylenesulfone employing polarographic and voltammetric techniques. Reversible or nearly reversible behaviour for the reaction Mn(CN)63?/Mn(CN)62? was observed in most solvents on the stationary platinum electrode. The reaction Mn(CN)63?/Mn(CN)64? was studied on both the dropping mercury electrode and the stationary platinum electrode. Besides the reaction Mn(CN)63?/Mn(CN)64? several anodic waves due to successive reactions of mercury with the cyano-ligand of the complex occurred at the dropping mercury electrode. No redox reaction for (et4N)3Mn(CN)6 was found in nitromethane. The polarographic behaviour of tetraethylammonium hexacyanoferrate(III) was studied in formamide, N-methylformamide, N-methylpyrrolidinone(2) and butyrolactone. The variation of E1/2 and 1/2 (Epa+Epc) values versus bisphenylchromium(I)/bisbiphenylchromium(0) as reference redox system of the processes Mn(CN)63?/Mn(CN)62?, Mn(CN)63?/Mn(CN)64? and Fe(CN)63?/Fe(CN)64? with the nature of the solvent is discussed within the donor-acceptor concept. Correlations between the E1/2 and 1/2(Epa+Epc) values and the acceptor properties of the solvent have been observed. The preparation of tetraethyl- and tetrabutylammonium hexacyanomanganate(III) is described.  相似文献

The new multidentate Schiff-base (E)-6,6′-((1E,1′E)-(ethane-1,2-diylbis(azan-1-yl-1-ylidene))bis(methan-1-yl-ylidene))bis(4-methyl-2-((E)(pyridine-2-ylmethylimino)methyl)phenol) H2L and its polymeric binuclear metal complexes with Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) are reported. The reaction of 2,6-diformyl-4-methyl-phenol with ethylenediamine in mole ratios of 2:1 gave the precursor 3,3′-(1E,1′E)-(ethane-1,2-diylbis(azan-1-yl-1ylidene))bis(methan-1-yl-1-ylidene)bis(2-hydroxy-5-methylbenzaldehyde) W. Condensation of the precursor with 2-(amino-methyl)pyridine in mole ratios of 1:2 gave the new N6O2 multidentate Schiff-base ligand H2L. Upon complex formation, the ligand behaves as a dibasic octadentate species with the involvement of the nitrogen atoms of the pyridine groups in coordination for all complexes. The mode of bonding and overall geometry of the complexes were determined through physico-chemical and spectroscopic methods. These studies revealed octahedral geometries for Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) complexes of general formulae [Cr2III(L)Cl2]Cl2, [Ni2II(L)(H2O)2]Cl2 and [M2(L)Cl2] and five co-ordinate Zn(II) complex of general formula [Zn2II(L)]Cl2.  相似文献

Karrooite, MgTi2O5, is a promising ceramic pigment due to its high refractoriness and refractive indices, as well as its ability to host transition metal ions in two crystallographically distinct octahedral sites. The colouring performance was investigated combining X-ray powder diffraction with UV-vis-NIR spectroscopy on karrooite doped with V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co or Ni (M) according to the formula Mg1−xTi2−xM2xO5, with x=0.02 and 0.05. Transition metals solubility in the karrooite lattice is not complete and a second phase is always present (geikielite or rutile). Structural data proved that incorporation of different chromophore ions into the karrooite structure affects unit cell parameters, bond length distances and angles, site occupancies and therefore cation order-disorder. Optical spectra exhibit broad absorbance bands of Co(II), Cr(IV), Fe(III), Mn(II), Mn(III), Ni(II), V(IV) with distinct contributions by cations in the M1 and M2 sites. Karrooite pigments have colours ranging from orange to brown-tan (Cr, Fe, Mn, V) to green (Co) and yellow (Ni) that are stable in low-temperature (<1050 °C) ceramic glazes and glassy coatings.  相似文献

The analytical determination of Hg(II), Cu(II), Cd(II), As(III), Sb(III), Ti(IV) and U(VI) in the presence of Fe(III) and 1 M H2SO4 are investigated using the polarographic technique. The wave corresponding to the reduction of Fe(III) to Fe(II) was found to be completely suppressed by the addition of 1% pyrogallol. Thus, different mixtures of these elements, viz. Hg(II), Cu(II), Cd(II), As(III) and Fe(III)-mixture (A), Cu(II), Cd(II), Sb(III), As(III) and Fe(III)-mixture (B), and Cu(II), Cd(II), Ti(IV), U(VI) and Fe(III)-mixture (C), were quantitatively determined using 1% pyrogallol and 1 M H2SO4 as supporting electrolyte. The i1/c results give excellent correlations in each case, as indicated from the results of leastsquares regression analysis.  相似文献

Salicylaldehyde or 5-bromosalicylaldehyde reacted with 2,3-diaminophenol in absolute EtOH in a 2:1 molar ratio to give new unsymmetrical Schiff bases (H2L). The bases were used as ligands to coordinate Mn(III), Ni(II) and Cu(II) chlorides leading to [MnIIIClL] · EtOH and [MIIL] or [MIIL] · 2H2O (M = Ni or Cu) complexes. Their structures were determined using mass spectroscopy, IR, u.v.–vis and 1H-n.m.r. The cyclic voltammetry in acetonitrile showed irreversible waves for both ligands. Under the same experimental conditions, the complexes exhibited mainly the non-reversible reduction of the Ni(II) or Cu(II) ion to Ni(0) or Cu(0), while the reduction of Mn(III) to Mn(II) was found to be a quite reversible phenomenon.  相似文献

The kinetic parametersn, A andE (the order of the decomposition reaction, the pre-exponential factor and the activation energy of the thermal decompositions) of some complexes of general formula [MCl2(GTD)2]Cl, where GTD=Girard T-diacetylmonoxime cation andM=central metal ion=Mn(II), Fe(III) and Co(II), were calculated through their TG curves. The effects of working conditions such as the sample weight and the rate of heating on the evaluated kinetic parameters are discussed.  相似文献

A series of 1,1′-disubstituted ferrocenoyl peptides incorporating dipeptide sidearms has been synthesized and studied electrochemically. The target peptides include ferrocene as an electrochemical reporter, sulfur-containing amino acids (l-methionine, S-methyl-l-cysteine, S-trityl-l-cysteine, S-benzhydryl-l-cysteine) as metal binding agents, and amino acids with non-polar side chains (l-alanine, l-valine, l-phenylalanine) as spacers between reporter and metal binding groups. Ferrocene/dipeptide conjugates were prepared using solution phase peptide synthesis methods employing a BOC-protecting group strategy and HBTU- (O-(benzotriazol-1-yl)-N,N,N′,N′-tetramethyluronium hexafluorophosphate) mediated peptide coupling. The electrochemical properties of these 1,1′-substituted ferrocenoyl peptides have been characterized using cyclic voltammetry. All exhibit fully reversible one electron oxidation steps; forward sweep half wave peaks (EF), reverse sweep half wave peaks (ER), peak separations (ΔEP) and half wave potentials (E1/2) are reported. Finally, towards the goal of utilizing ferrocenoyl peptides to detect heavy metals in solution, the response of these ferrocene/dipeptide conjugates to metal cations (zinc(II), mercury(II), cadmium(II), lead(II), silver(I)) has been examined. Monitoring changes in the potential of the Fe(II)/Fe(III) redox couple to follow peptide/metal interactions, we have probed the influence of the spacer unit between the redox reporter and the metal-binding amino acid, and shown that these systems respond to mercury(II) more strongly than to other heavy metal ions.  相似文献

New Schiff base (H2L) ligand is prepared via condensation of o-phthaldehyde and 2-aminobenzoic acid in 1:2 ratio. Metal complexes are prepared and characterized using elemental analyses, IR, solid reflectance, magnetic moment, molar conductance, 1H NMR, ESR and thermal analysis (TGA). From the elemental analyses data, the complexes were proposed to have the general formulae [MCl(L)(H2O)]·2H2O (where M = Cr(III) and Fe(III)); [M(L)]·yH2O (where M = Mn(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II), y = 1–2) and [M(L)(H2O)nyH2O (where M = Co(II) (n = y = 2), Co(II) (n = y = 1), Ni(II) (n = 2, y = 1). The molar conductance data reveal that all the metal chelates were non-electrolytes. IR spectra show that H2L is coordinated to the metal ions in a bi-negative tetradentate manner with NOON donor sites of the azomethine-N and carboxylate-O. The 1H NMR spectral data indicate that the two carboxylate protons are also displaced during complexation. From the magnetic and solid reflectance spectra, it was found that the geometrical structure of these complexes are octahedral (Cr(III), Fe(III), Co(II) and Ni(II)), square planar (Cu(II)), trigonal bipyramidal (Co(II)) and tetrahedral (Mn(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II)). The thermal behaviour of these chelates showed that the hydrated complexes losses water molecules of hydration in the first step followed immediately by decomposition of the ligand molecule in the subsequent steps. The biological activity data show that the metal complexes to be more potent/antibacterial than the parent Shciff base ligand against one or more bacterial species.  相似文献

The kinetics and mechanism of lactic acid oxidation in the presence of Mn(II) and Ce(IV) ions by chromic acid were studied spectrophotometrically. The oxidation of lactic acid by Cr(VI) was found to proceed in two measurable steps, both of which gave pyruvic acid as the primary product in the absence of Mn(II). 2Cr(VI)+2CH3CHOHCOOH → 2CH3COCOOH+Cr(V)+Cr(III) Cr(V)+CH3CHOHCOOH → Cr(III)+CH3COCOOHThe observed kinetics was explained due to the catalytic and inhibitory effects of Mn(II) and Ce(IV) on the lactic acid oxidation by Cr(VI). The reactivity of lactic acid depends upon the experimental conditions. It acts as a two-or three-equivalent reducing agent in the absence or presence of Mn(II). It was examined that Cr(III) products resulting from the direct reduction of Cr(VI) by three-equivalent reducing agents. The oxidation of lactic acid follows the complex order kinetics with respect to [lactic acid]. The activation parameters Ea, ΔH#, and ΔS# were calculated and discussed.  相似文献

Manganese(II) is oxidized by ozone in acid solution, k=(1.5±0.2)×103 M−1 s−1 in HClO4 and k=(1.8±0.2)×103M−1 s−1 in H2SO4. The plausible mechanism is an oxygen atom transfer from O3 to Mn2+ producing the manganyl ion MnO2+, which subsequently reacts rapidly with Mn2+ to form Mn(III). No free OH radicals are involved in the mechanism. The spectrum of Mn(III) was obtained in the wave length range 200–310 nm. The activation energy for the initial reaction is 39.5 kJ/mol. Manganese(III) is reduced by hydrogen peroxide to Mn(II) with k(Mn(III)+H2O2)=2.8×103M−1 s−1 at pH 0–2. The mechanism of the reaction involving formation of the manganese(II)-superoxide complex and reaction of H2O2 with Mn(IV) species formed due to reversible disproportionation of Mn(III), is suggested. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The thermal investigations of metal carboxylato complexes of the first transition metals, Mn(II), Fe(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) and non transition metals like Zn(II) and Cd(II) in solid state were carried out under non-isothermal condition in nitrogen atmopshere by thermogravimetric (TG) and differential thermal analyses (DTA) methods. The results of DTA curves inferred that the thermal stability of the complex decreased approximately with the increase of standard potential of the central metal ion. The thermal parameters like activation energy (Ea1), enthalpy change (ΔH) and entropy change (ΔS) corresponding to deaquation, deammoniation and decomposition processes occurred simultaneously or separately were determined from TG and DTA curves by the standard methods. A linear correlation has been found in the plots of ΔH vs. ΔS and Ea1 vs. ΔS in deaquation, deammoniation and decomposition processes. An irreversible phase transition was noticed for H2[Mn(suc)2] and H2[Co(suc)2] complexes in DTA curves. The residual pyrolysed products were metal carbonates.  相似文献

A new Schiff base (HL) derived from condensation of p-anisidine and acetyl acetone has been prepared and used as a chelating ligand to prepare Cr(III), Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes. The study of the nature of these complexes formed in ethanol solution following the mole ratio method (2:1, L:M) gave results which were compared successfully with these obtained from isolated solid state studies. These studies revealed that the complexes having square planner geometry of the type (ML2), M = Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II), and octahedral geometry of the type [CrIIIL2(H2O)2]Cl and [MNIIL2(H2O)2]. The adsorption studies of three complexes Cr(III), Mn(II), and Co(II) on activated carbon, H and Na-forms of purolite S-930 resin show high adsorption percentage for Cr(III) on purolite S-930 due to ion exchange interaction compared with high adsorption of neutral Mn(II), Co(II) complexes on activated charcoal. Linear plot of log Qe versus log Ce showed that the adsorption isotherm of these three complexes on activated carbon, H and Na-forms of purolite S-930 surface obeys Freundlich isotherm and was similar to S-curve type according to Giles classification which investigates heterogeneous adsorption. The regression values indicate that the adsorption data for these complexes fitted well within the Freundlich isothermal plots for the concentration studied. The accuracy and precision of the concentration measurements of these complexes were determined by preparing standard laboratory samples, the results show relative error ranging from ±1.08 to 5.31, ±1.04 to 4.82 and ±0.28 to 3.09 and the relative standard deviation did not exceed ±6.23, ±2.77 and ±4.38% for A1, A2 and A3 complexes, respectively.  相似文献

A new procedure for simultaneous preconcentration, separation, and determination of permanganate, chromate and vanadate was developed for aqueous solutions containing p.p.b. levels of these anions (and molybdate). The presence of other (non-complexing) ions in p.p.m. concentrations did not interfere. The procedure consisted of reactive adsorption of all three anions as their reduced cations, on iron(II)-treated resin, followed by elution of vanadium(IV) with 0.01 M HNO3/H2O2, manganese(II) with 0.35 M HCl, and chromium(III) with 4M HCl. Concentration factors of 40 were obtained with 1-l “samples” 10 p.p.b. concentrations were determined with standard deviations of 4–5 % by a.a.s. and conventional spectrophotometry.  相似文献

The anodic behaviour of the free macrobicyclic ligand (222) was examined by various electrochemical techniques on mercury and on platinum electrodes. From results on platinum electrode using cyclic voltammetry it appears that the anodic oxidation of (222) proceeds irreversibly at potentials more positive than +0.7 V (aq. SCE), however, its mechanism could not be determined because the anodic signal was not well developed. Under polarographic conditions a reversible anodic diffusion controlled wave at E1/2=+0.08 V (aq. SCE) was observed, corresponding to a complex formation of the ligand (222) with the ions of mercury formed by anodic polarization of mercury electrode. In excess of mercuric cations a cathodic wave at slightly more positive potentals was found.  相似文献

The polarographic behavior of the titanium(IV)-N-benzoyl-N-phenyl-hydroxylamine (BPHA) system in acidic medium and in water-ethanol mixtures has been studied. In (1+3) water-ethanol containing 2 M sulfuric acid and 0.05 M BPHA, titanium(IV) gives a single kinetically controlled wave. Titanium(IV) can be determined at concentrations as low as 5·10-6M, in the presence of Fe(III), Cu(II), V(V), etc., but Cd(II), Sn(II and IV), As(V), U(VI) and Mo(VI) interfere.  相似文献

Ferrocenoyl peptides incorporating thioether functionality respond more strongly to mercury(II) than to other heavy metal ions in solution. Compounds reported previously in this context are all 1,1′-disubstituted, and all include two or more sulfur-containing amino acids. To test whether two thioether groups are required for effective mercury binding by these systems, we have prepared a series of singly-substituted ferrocenoyl peptides from ferrocenecarboxylic acid and l-methionine, S-methyl-l-cysteine or S-trityl-l-cysteine, and tested them as electrochemical probes for mercury(II). Nine ferrocenoyl peptides have been synthesised using a Boc-protecting group strategy and HBTU-mediated peptide coupling. The electrochemical properties of these compounds have been determined using cyclic voltammetry, and all show fully reversible one electron oxidation steps. Forward sweep half wave peaks (EF), reverse sweep half wave peaks (ER), peak separations (ΔEP) and half wave potentials (E1/2) are reported. Changes in the potential of the iron(II)/iron(III) redox couple of the ferrocene core have been used to quantify heavy metal-peptide interactions, revealing that these monotopic systems also respond more strongly to mercury(II) than to zinc(II), cadmium(II), silver(I) and lead(II). NMR experiments to characterise the peptide-mercury interaction implicate the thioether sulfur as the site of mercury binding and indicate 1:1 stoichiometry. The crystal structure of ferrocenoyl-S-methyl-l-cysteine methyl ester is also reported. The greater responsiveness of these systems to mercury(II) makes them interesting leads for the development of biologically inspired sensors for this toxic heavy metal.  相似文献

α-Hyponitrate ion is electrochemically oxidized at mercury electrodes: the reaction proceeds by an initial 1-electron oxidation to give an anion radical which decomposes to give nitrogen oxide and nitrite as the ultimate products. The d.c. polarographic wave of α-hyponitrate (E12 = -0.325 V vs. SCE) in 0.1 M sodium hydroxide can be used for the determination of α-hyponitrate in the range 0.08–1.3 mM; a.c. polarography (Ep = -0.30 V vs. SCE) is useful in the range 0.075–1.0 mM. Amperometric titration with 0.05 M hexacyanoferrate(III) is suitable for determinations of 5–20 mg of sodium α-hyponitrate. A.c. polarography at pH 11.0 allows α-hyponitrate to be determined in the presence of 50-fold amounts of hydroxylamine.  相似文献

Metal complexes of gliclazide (GLZ; HL) drug are prepared and characterized based on elemental analyses, IR, diffused reflectance, magnetic moment, molar conductance and thermal analyses (TG and DTG) technique. From the elemental analyses data, the complexes are proposed to have the general formulae [M(HL)Cl3(H2O)]·3H2O (M = Cr(III) and Fe(III)), [M(HL)Cl2(H2O)2yH2O (M = Co(III), Ni(II) and Cu(II), y = 0–2) and [M(HL)Cl2yH2O (M = Mn(II) and Zn(II), y = 0–1). The molar conductance data reveal that all the metal chelates are non-electrolytes. IR spectra show that GLZ is coordinated to the metal ions in a neutral bidentate manner with ON donor sites of the amide-O and sulphonamide-OH. From the magnetic and solid reflectance spectra, it is found that the geometrical structures of these complexes are octahedral (Cr(III), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II)) and tetrahedral (Mn(II) and Zn(II)). The thermal behaviour of these chelates is studied using thermogravimetric analysis (TG and DTG) techniques. The results obtained show that the hydrated complexes lose water molecules of hydration followed immediately by decomposition of the anions and ligand molecules in the successive unseparate steps. The activation thermodynamic parameters are calculated using Coats–Redfern method. The GLZ drug, in comparison to its metal complexes also is screened for their biological activity against house fly, Musca domestica (Diptera – Muscidae). Dose of 5 μg/insect of gliclazide is typically applied against 3 days-old larval instar of M. domestica. Survival of pupal and adult stages has been affected by the complexes of gliclazide more than larval instars. Morphogenic abnormalities of larvae, pupae and adults are studied. On the other hand, pupation and adult emergence program is deteriorated by the effect of different chemicals.  相似文献

Abstract

A number of oxo-centred trinuclear complexes have been obtained, of general formula [M3O(OOCR)6L3]X (R?H, CH3; M?Cr(III), Fe(III); L=pyridine, 4-picoline; X?NO? 3, ClO? 4). The behaviour of these compounds in absolute methanol and in dimethylsulphoxide was investigated by the conductometric method. Dissociation constants of the complexes were determined. Molar conductivities and solvodynamic radii of the cations were also evaluated. It has been shown that the cations do not undergo solvation to any measurable extent.  相似文献
