Let K be a quadratic imaginary number field with discriminant DK≠−3,−4 and class number one. Fix a prime p?7 which is unramified in K. Given an elliptic curve A/Q with complex multiplication by K, let be the representation which arises from the action of Galois on the Tate module. Herein it is shown that, for all but finitely many inert primes p, the image of a certain deformation of is “as large as possible”, that is, it is the full inverse image of a Cartan subgroup of SL(2,Zp). If p splits in K, then the same result holds as long as a certain Bernoulli-Hurwitz number is a p-adic unit which, in turn, is equivalent to a prime ideal not being a Wieferich place. The proof rests on the theory of elliptic units of Robert and Kubert-Lang, and on the two-variable main conjecture of Iwasawa theory for quadratic imaginary fields.  相似文献

In order to study the problems of extending an action along a quotient of the acted object and along a quotient of the acting object, we investigate some properties of the fibration of points. In fact, we obtain a characterization of protomodular categories among quasi-pointed regular ones, and, in the semi-abelian case, a characterization of strong protomodular categories. Eventually, we return to the initial questions by stating the results in terms of internal actions.  相似文献

If F   is a global function field of characteristic p>3p>3, we employ Tate's theory of analytic uniformization to give an alternative proof of a theorem of Igusa describing the image of the natural Galois representation on torsion points of non-isotrivial elliptic curves defined over F. Along the way, using basic properties of Faltings heights of elliptic curves, we offer a detailed proof of the function field analogue of a classical theorem of Shafarevich according to which there are only finitely many F-isomorphism classes of admissible elliptic curves defined over F with good reduction outside a fixed finite set of places of F. We end the paper with an application to torsion points rational over abelian extensions of F.  相似文献

Let K be a fixed number field and GK its absolute Galois group. We give a bound C(K), depending only on the degree, the class number and the discriminant of K, such that for any elliptic curve E defined over K and any prime number p strictly larger than C(K), the image of the representation of GK attached to the p-torsion points of E contains a subgroup of homotheties of index smaller than 12.  相似文献

Given a continuous representation with insoluble image we show, under moderate assumptions at primes dividing ?∞, that for some continuous representation which is unramified outside finitely many primes. We study generalisations to totally real fields of the methods originating with Wiles and Taylor and Wiles [A. Wiles, Modular elliptic curves and Fermat's Last Theorem, Ann. of Math. 141 (1995) 443-551; R. Taylor, A. Wiles, Ring-theoretic properties of certain Hecke algebras, Ann. of Math. 141 (1995) 553-572]. In view of the results of Skinner and Wiles [C. Skinner, A. Wiles, Nearly ordinary deformations of irreducible residual representations, Ann. Fac. Sci. Toulouse Math. (6) 10 (2001) 185-215] on elliptic curves with ordinary reduction, we focus here on the case of supersingular reduction. Combining these, we then obtain some partial results on the modularity problem for semistable elliptic curves, and end by giving some applications of our results, for example proving the modularity of all semistable elliptic curves over .  相似文献

In this paper we prove that if the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture holds for abelian varieties attached to Hilbert newforms of parallel weight 2 with trivial central character, then the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture holds for abelian varieties attached to Hilbert newforms of parallel weight 2 with trivial central character regarded over arbitrary totally real number fields.  相似文献

In this paper, we examine the Lang-Trotter conjecture for elliptic curves which possess rational 3-torsion points. We prove that if one averages over all such elliptic curves then one obtains an asymptotic similar to the one predicted by Lang and Trotter.  相似文献

Let K be a number field, an algebraic closure of K and E/K an elliptic curve defined over K. Let GK be the absolute Galois group of over K. This paper proves that there is a subset Σ⊆GK of Haar measure 1 such that for every σ∈Σ, the spectrum of σ in the natural representation of GK consists of all roots of unity, each of infinite multiplicity. Also, this paper proves that any complex conjugation automorphism in GK has the eigenvalue -1 with infinite multiplicity in the representation space of GK.  相似文献

We obtain defining equations of modular curves X0(N), X1(N), and X(N) by explicitly constructing modular functions using generalized Dedekind eta functions. As applications, we describe a method of obtaining a basis for the space of cusp forms of weight 2 on a congruence subgroup. We also use our model of X0(37) to find explicit modular parameterization of rational elliptic curves of conductor 37.  相似文献

The order-reversing bijection between field extensions and subgroups of the Galois group G follows from the equivalence between the opposite of the category of étale algebras and the category of discrete G-spaces [2]. We construct a parametric family {E (±)(s,t,u)} of minimal Q-curves of degree 5 over the quadratic fields Q , and the family {C(s,t,u)} of genus two curves over Q covering E {(+)(s,t,u) whose jacobians are abelian surfaces of GL2-type. We also discuss the modularity for them and the sign change between E {(+)(s,t,u) and its twist E (−)(s,t,u), which correspond by modularity to cusp forms of trivial and non-trivial Neben type characters, respectively. We find in {C(s,t,u)} concrete equations of curves over Q whose jacobians are isogenous over cyclic quartic fields to Shimura's abelian surfaces A f attached to cusp forms of Neben type character of level N= 29, 229, 349, 461, and 509. We find a tight relationship between the torsion subgroup and the image of the mod 2 Galois representation associated to an elliptic curve defined over the rationals. This is shown using some characterizations for the squareness of the discriminant of the elliptic curve.  相似文献

Abstract

In this paper we characterize injective objects in the category of S-posets and S-poset maps for a pomonoid S, with respect to the class of unitary down-closed embeddings. Also, the behaviour of this notion of injectivity with respect to products and coproducts is studied. Then we introduce the notion of weakly regular d-injectivity in arbitrary slices of the category of S-posets, which is applied to investigate the Baer criterion. Finally we present an example to show that these objects are not regular injective, in general.  相似文献

We show that if F is a totally real field in which p splits completely and f is a mod p Hilbert modular form with parallel weight 2 < k < p, which is ordinary at all primes dividing p and has tamely ramified Galois representation at all primes dividing p, then there is a “companion form” of parallel weight k′ := p + 1 − k. This work generalises results of Gross and Coleman–Voloch for modular forms over Q.  相似文献
