Let X be a projective algebraic manifold of dimension n (over C), CH1(X) the Chow group of algebraic cycles of codimension l on X, modulo rational equivalence, and A1(X) ? CH1(X) the subgroup of cycles algebraically equivalent to zero. We say that A1(X) is finite dimensional if there exists a (possibly reducible) smooth curve T and a cycle z∈CH1(Γ × X) such that z*:A1(Γ)-A1(X) is surjective. There is the well known Abel-Jacobi map λ1:A1(X)-J(X), where J(X) is the lth Lieberman Jacobian. It is easy to show that A1(X)→J(X) A1(X) finite dimensional. Now set with corresponding map A*(X)→J(X). Also define Level . In a recent book by the author, there was stated the following conjecture: where it was also shown that (?) in (**) is a consequence of the General Hodge Conjecture (GHC). In this present paper, we prove A*(X) finite dimensional ?? Level (H*(X)) ≤ 1 for a special (albeit significant) class of smooth hypersurfaces. We make use of the family of k-planes on X, where ([…] = greatest integer function) and d = deg X; moreover the essential technical ingredients are the Lefschetz theorems for cohomology and an analogue for Chow groups of hypersurfaces. These ingredients in turn imply very special cases of the GHC for our choice of hypersurfaces X. Some applications to the Griffiths group, vanishing results, and (universal) algebraic representatives for certain Chow groups are given.  相似文献

Let F(θ k, α) be the far field pattern arising from the scattering of a time harmonic plane acoustic wave of wave number k and direction a by a sound-soft cylinder of cross section D. Suppose F has the Fourier expansion where an = an(k, . Then if ?2 is a Dirichlet eigenvalue for D, sufficient conditions are given on D for the existence of a nontrivial sequence |bn| where the bn are independent of such that for all directions Domains for which this is true are called generalized Herglotz domains. The conditions for a domain to be a generalized Herglotz domain are given either in terms of the Schwarz function for the analytic boundary ?D or in terms of the Rayleigh hypothesis in acoustic scattering theory and examples are given showing the applicability of these conditions.  相似文献

We consider an initial‐boundary value problem for nonstationary Stokes system in a bounded domain Omega??3 with slip boundary conditions. We assume that Ω is crossed by an axis L. Let us introduce the following weighted Sobolev spaces with finite norms: and where ?(x) = dist{x, L}. We proved the result. Given the external force fL2, ?µT), initial velocity v0H(Ω), µ∈?+\? there exist velocity vHT) and the pressure p, ?pL2, ?µT) and a constant c, independent of v, p, f, such that As we consider the Stokes system in weighted Sobolev spaces the following two things must be used:
  • 1. the slip boundary condition and
  • 2. the Helmholtz–Weyl decomposition.

Let ξ = (ξk)k∈? be i.i.d. with Pk = 0) = Pk = 1) = 1/2, and let S: = (Sk) be a symmetric random walk with holding on ?, independent of ξ. We consider the scenery ξ observed along the random walk path S, namely, the process (χk := ξ). With high probability, we reconstruct the color and the length of blockn, a block in ξ of length ≥ n close to the origin, given only the observations (χk). We find stopping times that stop the random walker with high probability at particular places of the scenery, namely on blockn and in the interval [?3n,3n]. Moreover, we reconstruct with high probability a piece of ξ of length of the order 3 around blockn, given only 3 observations collected by the random walker starting on the boundary of blockn. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The Neumann boundary value problem for the chemotaxis system is considered in a smooth bounded domain Ω??n, n?2, with initial data and v0W1, ∞(Ω) satisfying u0?0 and v0>0 in . It is shown that if then for any such data there exists a global‐in‐time classical solution, generalizing a previous result which asserts the same for n=2 only. Furthermore, it is seen that the range of admissible χ can be enlarged upon relaxing the solution concept. More precisely, global existence of weak solutions is established whenever . We study the following initial and boundary value problem: In section 1, with u0 in L2(Ω), f continuous such that f(u) + ? non-decreasing for ? positive, we prove the existence of a unique solution on (0,T), for each T > 0. In section 2 it is proved that the unique soluition u belongs to L2(0, T; H ∩ H2) ∩ L(0, T; H) if we assume u0 in H and f in C1(?,?). Numerical results are given for these two cases.  相似文献

A k‐star is the graph K1,k. We prove a general theorem about k‐star factorizations of Cayley graphs. This is used to give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of k‐star factorizations of any power (Kq)s of a complete graph with prime power order q, products C × C ×··· × C of k cycles of arbitrary lengths, and any power (Cr)s of a cycle of arbitrary length. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. For a positive integer d, the usual d‐dimensional cube Qd is defined to be the graph (K2)d, the Cartesian product of d copies of K2. We define the generalized cube Q(Kk, d) to be the graph (Kk)d for positive integers d and k. We investigate the decomposition of the complete multipartite graph K into factors that are vertex‐disjoint unions of generalized cubes Q(Kk, di), where k is a power of a prime, n and j are positive integers with jn, and the di may be different in different factors. We also use these results to partially settle a problem of Kotzig on Qd‐factorizations of Kn. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Graph Theory 33: 144–150, 2000  相似文献

The paper gives a proof, valid for a large class of bounded domains, of the following compactness statements: Let G be a bounded domain, β be a tensor-valued function on G satisfying certain restrictions, and let {n} be a sequence of vector-valued functions on G where the L2-norms of {n}, {curl n}, and {div(β n)} are bounded, and where all n either satisfy x n = 0 or (β Fn) = 0 at the boundary ?G of G ( = normal to ?G): then {n} has a L2-convergent subsequence. The first boundary condition is satisfied by electric fields, the second one by magnetic fields at a perfectly conducting boundary ?G if β is interpreted as electric dielectricity ? or as magnetic permeability μ, respectively. These compactness statements are essential for the application of abstract scattering theory to the boundary value problem for Maxwell's equations.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the multiple solutions for the semilinear elliptic equation where , 1<p<(N + 2)/(N ? 2) for and p>1 for N = 2. We will prove that the problem possesses infinitely many solutions under some assumptions on Q(x). Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The d-dimensional Hardy spaces Hp ( T × … × T ) (d = d1 + … + dkand a general summability method of Fourier series and Fourier transforms are introduced with the help of integrable functions θj having integrable Fourier transforms. Under some conditions on θj we show that the maximal operator of the θ-means of a distribution is bounded from Hp ( T × … × T ) to Lp ( T d) where p0 < p < ∞ and p0 < 1 is depending only on the functions θj. By an interpolation theorem we get that the maximal operator is also of weak type ( L1) (i = 1, …, k) where the Hardy space is defined by a hybrid maximal function and if k = 1. As a consequence we obtain that the θ-means of a function (log L)k–1 converge a.e. to the function in question. If k = 1 then we get this convergence result for all fL1. Moreover, we prove that the θ-means are uniformly bounded on the spaces Hp ( T × … × T ) whenever p0 <p < ∞, thus the θ-means converge to f in ( T × … × T ) norm. The same results are proved for the conjugate θ-means and for d-dimensional Fourier transforms, too. Some special cases of the θ-summation are considered, such as the Weierstrass, Picar, Bessel, Fejér, Riemann, de La Vallée-Poussin, Rogosinski and Riesz summations.  相似文献

Given an undirected n‐vertex graph G(V, E) and an integer k, let Tk(G) denote the random vertex induced subgraph of G generated by ordering V according to a random permutation π and including in Tk(G) those vertices with at most k – 1 of their neighbors preceding them in this order. The distribution of subgraphs sampled in this manner is called the layers model with parameter k. The layers model has found applications in studying ?‐degenerate subgraphs, the design of algorithms for the maximum independent set problem, and in bootstrap percolation. In the current work we expand the study of structural properties of the layers model. We prove that there are 3‐regular graphs G for which with high probability T3(G) has a connected component of size , and moreover, T3(G) has treewidth . In contrast, T2(G) is known to be a forest (hence of treewidth 1), and we prove that if G is of bounded degree then with high probability the largest connected component in T2(G) is of size . We also consider the infinite grid , for which we prove that contains a unique infinite connected component with probability 1. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Random Struct. An n‐tuple π (not necessarily monotone) is graphic if there is a simple graph G with vertex set {v1, …, vn} in which the degree of vi is the ith entry of π. Graphic n‐tuples (d, …, d) and (d, …, d) pack if there are edge‐disjoint n‐vertex graphs G1 and G2 such that d(vi) = d and d(vi) = d for all i. We prove that graphic n‐tuples π1 and π2 pack if , where Δand δdenote the largest and smallest entries in π1 + π2 (strict inequality when δ = 1); also, the bound is sharp. Kundu and Lovász independently proved that a graphic n‐tuple π is realized by a graph with a k‐factor if the n‐tuple obtained by subtracting k from each entry of π is graphic; for even n we conjecture that in fact some realization has k edge‐disjoint 1‐factors. We prove the conjecture in the case where the largest entry of π is at most n/2 + 1 and also when k?3. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Graph Theory  相似文献

It is shown that if G is a graph of order n with minimum degree δ(G), then for any set of k specified vertices {v1,v2,…,vk} ? V(G), there is a 2‐factor of G with precisely k cycles {C1,C2,…,Ck} such that viV(Ci) for (1 ≤ ik) if or 3k + 1 ≤ n ≤ 4k, or 4kn ≤ 6k ? 3,δ(G) ≥ 3k ? 1 or n ≥ 6k ? 3, . Examples are described that indicate this result is sharp. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Graph Theory 43: 188–198, 2003  相似文献

Let t = (t1, …, tn) be a point of ?n. We shall write . We put by definition Rα(u) = u(α?n)/2/Kn(α); here α is a complex parameter, n the dimension of the space, and Kn(α) is a constant. First we evaluate □Rα(u) = Rα(u), where □ the ultrahyperbolic operator. Then we obtain the following results: R?2k(u) = □kδ; R0(u) = δ; and □kR2k(u) = δ, k = 0, 1, …. The first result is the n-dimensional ultrahyperbolic correlative of the well-known one-dimensional formula . Equivalent formulas have been proved by Nozaki by a completely different method. The particular case µ = 1 was solved previously.  相似文献

For a graph L and an integer k≥2, Rk(L) denotes the smallest integer N for which for any edge‐coloring of the complete graph KN by k colors there exists a color i for which the corresponding color class contains L as a subgraph. Bondy and Erdos conjectured that, for an odd cycle Cn on n vertices, They proved the case when k = 2 and also provided an upper bound Rk(Cn)≤(k+ 2)!n. Recently, this conjecture has been verified for k = 3 if n is large. In this note, we prove that for every integer k≥4, When n is even, Sun Yongqi, Yang Yuansheng, Xu Feng, and Li Bingxi gave a construction, showing that Rk(Cn)≥(k?1)n?2k+ 4. Here we prove that if n is even, then © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Graph Theory 69: 169‐175, 2012  相似文献

Fix a smooth weight function Q in the plane, subject to a growth condition from below. Let Km,n denote the reproducing kernel for the Hilbert space of analytic polynomials of degree at most n ? 1 of finite L2‐norm with respect to the measure e?mQ dA. Here dA is normalized area measure, and m is a positive real scaling parameter. The (polynomial) Berezin measure for the point z0 is a probability measure that defines the (polynomial) Berezin transform for continuous . We analyze the semiclassical limit of the Berezin measure (and transform) as m → + ∞ while n = m τ + o(1), where τ is fixed, positive, and real. We find that the Berezin measure for z0 converges weak‐star to the unit point mass at the point z0 provided that Δ Q(z0) > 0 and that z0 is contained in the interior of a compact set , defined as the coincidence set for an obstacle problem. As a refinement, we show that the appropriate local blowup of the Berezin measure converges to the standardized Gaussian measure in the plane. For points , the Berezin measure cannot converge to the point mass at z0. In the model case Q(z) = |z|2, when is a closed disk, we find that the Berezin measure instead converges to harmonic measure at z0 relative to . Our results have applications to the study of the eigenvalues of random normal matrices. The auxiliary results include weighted L2‐estimates for the equation when f is a suitable test function and the solution u is restricted by a polynomial growth bound at ∞. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献
