A fundamental radiometric measurement has been carried out in the spectral region 1–140 cm–1 which demonstrates the higher brightness of the synchrotron radiation source at Daresbury Laboratory over a high pressure mercury arc lamp source. Comparison of the output powers from the SRS and the mercury lamp revealed that the SRS has a particular advantage in the region where the wavelength of the emitted photon becomes very longer. The gain factor of the SRS at 10 cm–1 was at least 10 times of the mercury lamp at a storage ring current of about 90 mA.A single period wiggler is considered to be a favorable device which will provide a higher level of photon fluxes from an electron storage ring in the long wavelength region.  相似文献

January 2008 was the time of the official opening of SOLEIL's beamlines and guest house. This transition from construction to operational phase was made possible after commissioning of the 17°C water circuits of the beamlines. Users have access to eleven beamlines, from infrared to hard X-ray (AILES, SMIS, DESIRS, CASSIOPEE, TEMPO, DIFFABS, ODE, CRISTAL, SAMBA, PROXIMA1 and SWING). The LUCIA beamline, which has been operational on SLS since June 2004, will be installed at SOLEIL from mid-2008, and the XPEEM station of the future “soft X-ray microscopy” beamline is already producing fascinating XMCD and XMLD results at ELETTRA. The radiation spectrum for synchrotron-emitting electrons in galactic-sized Birkeland current filaments is analyzed. It is shown that the number of filaments required to thermalize the emission spectrum to blackbody is not reduced when a non-Maxwellian electron distribution is assumed. If the cosmic background radiation (CBR) spectrum (T=2.76 K) is due to absorption and re-emission of radiation from galactic-sized current filaments, higher-order synchrotron modes are not as highly self absorbed as lower-order modes, resulting in a distortion of the blackbody curve at higher frequencies. This is especially true for a non-Maxwellian distribution of electrons for which the emission coefficient at high frequencies is shown to be significantly less than that for a Maxwellian distribution. The deviation of the CBR spectrum in the high-frequency regime may thus be derivable from actual astrophysical parameters, such as filamentary magnetic fields and electron energies in the model  相似文献

The probability of photino-pair emission by an electron moving in an external electromagnetic field $(e \to e\tilde \gamma \tilde \gamma )$ is calculated within the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model. This process is analyzed in two different cases: the production of massless photinos is studied first, and the effect of a finite photino mass is taken into account after that. The results of the calculations are applied to the theory of stellar evolution. In particular, the photino emissivity of a neutron star due to the above reaction is calculated. A comparison of the rate of star cooling induced by photino emission with the rates associated with other competing mechanisms of energy losses makes it possible to set a new constraint on the selectron mass: $M_{\tilde e_R } = M_{\tilde eL} \geqslant 96.3$ GeV.  相似文献

We study the modifications of synchrotron radiation of charges in a storage ring as they are cooled. The pair correlation lengths between the charges are manifest in the synchrotron radiation and coherence effects exist for wavelengths longer than the coherence lengths between the charges. Therefore, the synchrotron radiation can be used as a diagnostic tool to determine the state (gas, liquid, crystal) of the charged plasma in the storage ring. We show also that the total power of the synchrotron radiation is significantly reduced for crystallized beams, both coasting and bunched. This opens the possibility of accelerating particles to ultrarelativistic energies using small-sized cyclic accelerators.  相似文献

It is shown that the longitudinal velocity of a charged particle moving in a uniform magnetic field, and obeying Dirac-Lorentz relativistic equation of motion with radiation reaction is constant. Suitable approximate methods, which give fairly accurate results, are used to obtain the expression for velocity and displacement along the transverse section. They describe the motion completely up to a correcting factor $$1 + 0\left\{ {\left( {\frac{{e^3 B}}{{m^3 c^4 }}} \right)^2 } \right\}; \frac{{e^3 B}}{{m^3 c^4 }} \simeq 10^{ - 16} B$$ for electrons,B inG.  相似文献

The classical theory of synchrotron radiation of an electrically neutral relativistic particle with a large intrinsic magnetic moment is considered (g-factor much greater than unit). The spectral-angular composition and polarization of the radiation are studied. The magneton radiation self-polarization time is calculated. Nuclear resonance scattering of synchrotron radiation has been used to determine the elementary diffusion jump in the ordered stoichiometric alloy FeAl. To that aim the intensity decay in forward direction is measured as a function of crystal orientation. A decision between various jump models confirms earlier results from classical quasielastic Mössbauer spectroscopy, but with considerably better angular resolution.  相似文献

We investigate characteristics of spontaneous radiation of a uniformly charged rod orthogonal to a given plane and moving such that is projection on this plane moves uniformly on a circle. It is shown that the power of radiation of such charged structure is smaller than the power of radiation of point charge of the same value and moving on the same circle.
