New cobalt(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes of Schiff base derived from D,L ‐selenomethionine and salicylaldehyde were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, electronic spectra, conductance measurements, magnetic measurements and biological activity. The analytical data showed that the Schiff base ligand acts as tridentate towards divalent metal ions (cobalt, copper, zinc) via the azomethine‐N, carboxylate oxygen and phenolato oxygen by a stoichiometric reaction of M:L (1:1) to form metal complexes [ML(H2O)], where L is the Schiff base ligand derived from D,L ‐selenomethionine and salicylaldehyde and M = Co(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II). 1H NMR spectral data of the ligand and Zn(II) complex agree with proposed structures. The conductivity values between 12.87 and 15.63 S cm2 mol?1 in DMF imply the presence of non‐electrolyte species. Antibacterial and antifungal results indicate that the metal complexes are more active than the ligand. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A bidentate NO donor Schiff base, 2-(((2-chloro-5- (trifluoromethyl)phenyl)imino)methyl) phenol ( HL 1 ) and its complexes [Co(L1)2(H2O)2] ( 1 ), [Cu(L1)2] ( 2 ), [Mn(L1)2(H2O)2] ( 3 ), [Ni(L1)2(H2O)2] ( 4 ), [Pd2(L1)2(OAc)2·1.16H2O] ( 5 ), [Pt(L1)2] ( 6 ) were synthesized and characterized by different physico-chemical techniques including elemental and thermal analysis, magnetic susceptibility measurements, molar electric conductivity, IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, UV–Vis, mass spectroscopies and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). The molecular structures of ligand HL 1 and two complexes ( 2 and 5 ) were confirmed by X-ray crystallography analysis on the monocrystal. In this complexes, the metal ions are in distorted square-planar environments. The copper (II) complex is mononuclear and crystallized in a monoclinic space group P21/c, whereas palladium (II) complex is dinuclear and crystallized in the trigonal crystal system R-3. The toxicity of the ligand and complexes was evaluated on both plant and animal cells, using the plant species Triticum aestivum L. and the crustacean Artemia franciscana Kellogg. At concentrations up to 100 μM the compounds presented very little toxicity on Artemia franciscana Kellogg. Moreover, the palladium (II) complex was devoid of any toxicity on the plant cells.  相似文献

The condensation reaction of 1,2-bis(2′-aminophenoxy)benzene with 2-pyridinecarbaldehyde in a mole ratio of 1:2 gives a new Schiff base ligand (L). Four Schiff base complexes, CoL(NO3)2 (1), NiLCl2 (2), ZnL(NO3)2 (3) and Pd2LCl4 (4) have been prepared by direct reaction of the ligand (L) and appropriate metal salts. The Schiff base ligand (L) has been characterized by IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Also, all complexes have been characterized by IR and XRD spectroscopy techniques and elemental analysis. The synthesized complexes have very poor solubility in all polar and non-polar solvents such as: H2O, MeOH, EtOH, CH3CN, DMSO, DMF, CHCl3, CH2Cl2, THF, etc; therefore, they have been used as heterogeneous catalysts. Catalytic performance of the complexes was studied in oxidation of thioanisole using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as the oxidant. Various factors including the reaction temperature, amount of oxidant and catalyst amount were optimized. The palladium Schiff base complex, Pd2LCl4 (4), shows better catalytic activity than other complexes. Therefore, the Pd(II) Schiff base complex has been used as a catalyst for oxidation of different sulfides to their corresponding sulfones in acetonitrile with hydrogen peroxide as the oxidant. The palladium Schiff base complex, Pd2LCl4 (4), has shown a very good recyclability, up to five times, without any appreciable decreases in catalytic activity and selectivity.  相似文献

Three copper(II) complexes derived from bulky ortho-hydroxy Schiff base ligands, (1)-(3), were synthesized and characterized by chemical analysis, UV-Vis, IR, μeff and mass spectrometry. The solid state structures of compounds (1)-(3) were determined. The solid state X-ray diffraction studies of these compounds show that the geometry is intermediate between square planar and tetrahedral. Moreover, EPR studies in DMF solution at 77 K suggest that the geometry of these complexes in solution is different from that observed in the solid state by X-ray crystallography. Furthermore, cyclic voltammetry studies performed for (1)-(3), indicate a dependence of the cathodic potentials upon conformational and electronic effects.  相似文献

Copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes of Schiff bases obtained by condensation of amoxicillin and cephalexin with salicylaldehyde/pyridoxal were prepared and characterized by microanalytical, thermogravimetric, magnetic and spectroscopic data. All the complexes were found to be six‐coordinate and containing two water molecules. The electron paramagnetic resonance spectral lines exhibited rhombic distortion from axial symmetry, with g|| > g? > ge, in the copper(II) complexes. The geometry of the zinc(II) complexes appears to be octahedral. All the compounds under investigation showed antibacterial activity. The antibacterial activity showed the following trend: copper(II) complexes > zinc(II) complexes > Schiff base ligands > parent drugs. The copper(II) complexes with the Schiff bases derived from cephalexin showed substantially enhanced activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa compared with the parent drug. All the copper complexes were also found to be active against kaolin paw oedema, whereas the parent drugs were inactive. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The chitosan–(Fe(II), Co(II), and Cu(II)) complexes were prepared by mixing chitosan (Chi) powder with a salicylaldehyde (Sal, 5-hydrogen (–H)) and their 5-bromo (–Br), 5-chloro (–Cl), 5-methoxy (–OCH3), 5-fluoro (–F), 5-methyl (–CH3), and 5-nitro (–NO2) derivatives (groups R) and mixing these with FeCl2 and CuCl2 in ethanol and with Co(CH3COO)2 solutions in butanol at 80 °C over 8 h in heterogeneous phase, followed by extraction with ethanol and butanol, respectively. The complexes were characterized by FTIR and UV–vis spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and cyclic voltammetry. A linear correlation between the metal formal potential versus the Hammett parameters of the substituents was observed. The electron-withdrawing groups shift the redox potential to positive values, as a result of lowering the energy of the highest occupied molecular orbital. The formal potential was used as a measurement for the driving force of chitosan complexes for redox reactions.  相似文献

We describe the synthesis and characterization of a new tetradentate Schiff base ligand obtained from 2,3-diaminopyridine and 5-methoxysalicylaldehyde. This ligand (H2L) reacted with nickel(II), copper(II), and zinc(II) acetates to give complexes. The ligand and its metal complexes were characterized using analytical, spectral data (UV–vis, IR, and mass spectroscopy), and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The crystal structure of the copper complex was elucidated by X-ray diffraction studies. The electrochemical behavior of these compounds, using CV, revealed that metal centers were distinguished by their intrinsic redox systems, e.g. Ni(II)/Ni(I), Cu(II)/Cu(I), and Zn(II)/Zn(I). Moreover, the electrocatalytic reactions of Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes catalyze the oxidation of methanol and benzylic alcohol.  相似文献

Novel zinc(II), copper(II), and cobalt(II) complexes of the Schiff base derived from 2‐hydroxy‐1‐naphthaldehyde and D, L ‐selenomethionine were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, electronic spectra, conductance measurements, magnetic measurements and powder XRD. The analytical data showed the composition of the metal complex to be ML(H2O), where L is the Schiff base ligand and M = Co(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II). IR results confirmed the tridentate binding of the Schiff base ligand involving azomethine nitrogen, naphthol oxygen and carboxylato oxygen atoms. 1H NMR spectral data of lithium salt of the Schiff base ligand [Li(HL)] and ZnL(H2O) agreed with the proposed structures. The conductivity values of complexes between 12.50 and 15.45 S cm2 mol?1 in DMF suggested the presence of non‐electrolyte species. The powder XRD studies indicated that Co(II) complex is amorphous, whereas Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes are crystalline. The results of antibacterial and antifungal screening studies indicated that Li(HL) and its metal complexes are active, but CuL(H2O) is most active among them. By condensation of amantadine and 4-methoxysalicylaldehyde a new Schiff base HL was synthesized. A mixture of HL and zinc(II) chloride in an alcoholic medium leads to [Zn(HL)2Cl2] (1). However, the same reactants gave another different complex (ZnL2) (2) in the presence of NaOH. The two complexes were characterized by IR, 1H NMR, elemental analysis, molar conductance, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that complex 1 crystallizes in the triclinic system, Pī space group; each asymmetric unit consists of one zinc(II), two HL, and two chlorides. The tetra coordination of central zinc is attained by two chlorides and two oxygens from the Schiff base, forming a distorted tetrahedral geometry. Complex 2 crystallizes in the monoclinic system, P21/c space group; each asymmetric unit consists of one zinc(II) and two L. The tetra coordination of central zinc is attained by two nitrogens and two oxygens from the Schiff base, forming a distorted tetrahedral geometry.  相似文献

A new hydrazonic Schiff base ligand, 2-pyridinecarbaldehyde-(2′-aminosulfonylbenzoyl)hydrazone (HL), has been prepared and characterized, and its coordinative properties were studied. [ML2] complexes, M = Co, Ni, Cu, Zn or Cd have been synthesised by electrochemical oxidation of the anodic metal in a cell containing an acetonitrile solution of the ligand. The compounds obtained have been characterized by microanalysis, IR, NMR and UV–Vis spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and also by X-ray diffraction. The structural studies show that the metal is in a distorted octahedral environment with the monoanionic ligand acting as a meridional tridentate (N,N,O) chelate system.  相似文献

Abstract

A series of new cobalt(II) complexes of Schiff base derived from salicylaldehyde and different cycloalkylamines (cycloalkyl?=?cyclopentyl-1a, cyclohexyl-1b, and cycloheptyl-1c) was synthesized: [Co(CyPen-Salicyl)2] (2a), [Co(CyHex-Salicyl)2] (2b), and [Co(CyHep-Salicyl)2] (2c). The bis(phenoxyiminato)Co(II) complexes (2a-2c) have been fully characterized by FTIR and UV–vis spectroscopy, elemental analysis, cyclic voltammetry, computational methods, and two of the complexes were further studied by single crystal X-ray crystallography. The X-ray structure analysis of 2a-b shows that the geometry around the metal atom is a distorted tetrahedron, confirming the spectroscopic data. Electrochemical studies suggest that the redox potential of 2a-2c are sensitive to the substituent group, decreasing in order cyclopentyl?>?cyclohexyl?>?cycloheptyl. Complexes 2a-2c were used as controlling agents for the polymerization of vinyl acetate (VAc) initiated by AIBN, according to a cobalt-mediated radical polymerization (CMRP) mechanism. The VAc polymerization mediated by 2a-2c suggests that the level of control can be slightly tuned by the substitution of the cycloalkyl group on the Schiff base ligand. Complex 2b showed the smaller discrepancy between observed and calculated molecular weight, and narrower molecular weight distribution.  相似文献

Four new nickel(II), zinc(II), and cobalt(II) complexes, [Zn(L1)2]?·?H2O (1), [Ni(L1)2]?·?H2O (2), [Ni(L2)2] (3), and [Co(L3)2]?·?H2O (4), derived from hydroxy-rich Schiff bases 2-{[1-(5-chloro-2-hydroxyphenyl)methylidene]amino}-2-methylpropane-1,3-diol (HL1), 2-{[1-(2-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)methylidene]amino}-2-ethylpropane-1,3-diol (HL2), and 2-{[1-(5-bromo-2-hydroxyphenyl)methylidene]amino}-2-methylpropane-1,3-diol (HL3) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, infrared spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray determination. Each metal in the complexes is six-coordinate in a distorted octahedral coordination. The Schiff bases coordinate to the metal atoms through the imino N, phenolate O, and one hydroxyl O. In the crystal structures of HL1 and the complexes, molecules are linked through intermolecular O–H···O hydrogen bonds, forming 1-D chains. The urease inhibitory activities of the compounds were evaluated and molecular docking study of the compounds with the Helicobacter pylori urease was performed.  相似文献

Preparations, crystal structures, electronic and CD spectra are reported for new chiral Schiff base complexes, bis(N-R-1-naphthylethyl-3,5-dichlorosalicydenaminato)nickel(II), copper(II), and zinc(II). Nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes adopt a square planar trans-[MN2O2] coordination geometry with Δ(R,R) configuration. While zinc(II) complex adopts a compressed tetrahedral trans-[MN2O2] one with Δ(R,R) configuration and exhibits an emission band around 21 000 cm−1 (λex = 27 000 cm−1). Absorption and CD spectra were recorded in N,N′-dimethylformamide, acetone, methanol, chloroform, and toluene solutions to discuss relationships between spectral shifts of d–d and π–π bands by structural changes of the complexes and physical properties of the solvents. Moreover, we have attempted to investigate conformational changes of the complexes induced by photoisomerization of azobenzene, 4-hydroxyazobenzene, or 4-aminoazobenzene, in various solutions under different conditions. Weak intermolecular interactions between complexes and azobenzenes are important for the phenomenon by conformational changes of bulky π-conjugated moieties of the ligands.  相似文献

A chiral Schiff base complex, bis(N-R-1-phenylethyl-3,5-dichlorosalicydenaminato) cobalt(II) was prepared newly and characterized to be a distorted tetrahedral trans-[CoN2O2] coordination geometry. Organic/inorganic hybrid materials containing the related cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II), and zinc(II) complexes and photochromic azobenzene in polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) cast films were assembled for comparison of their flexibility and molecular arrangement in the photofunctional medium. Characterization of each component and hybrid materials was carried out by means of absorption and CD spectra and thermal analysis (TG–DTA and DSC). Moreover, we have attempted to observe changes of conformation and/or molecular arrangement of the complexes or azobenzene induced by cistrans photoisomerization of azobenzene after alternate irradiation of polarized UV and visible light. Gradual increase of optical anisotropy was observed for all the hybrid materials regardless of flexibility of Schiff base complexes, and the degree of dichroism and weak intermolecular interactions were discussed based on polarized absorption electronic spectra.  相似文献

For the first time, a novel, straightforward and inexpensive route for immobilization of metals in Schiff base complex form is reported applying 2,4‐toluenediisocyanate as a precursor of primary amine group. A nickel(II) Schiff base complex supported on nano‐TiO2 was designed and synthesized as an effective heterogeneous nanocatalyst for organic reactions, and well characterized using various techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, energy‐dispersive X‐ray analysis and thermogravimetric analysis. The catalytic efficiency of the complex was evaluated in selective oxidation of sulfide to sulfoxide by hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant under solvent‐free conditions at room temperature, which successfully resulted in high yield and high conversion of products. Effective factors including solvent type, oxidant and catalyst amount were also optimized. The catalyst shows outstanding reusability and could be impressively recovered for six consecutive cycles without significant change of its catalytic efficiency.  相似文献

Neutral tetradentate N2O2 type complexes of Cu(II), Ni(II), Mn(II), Zn(II) and VO(II) have been synthesised using a Schiff base formed by the condensation of o-phenylenediamine with acetoacetanilide in alcohol medium. All the complexes were characterised on the basis of their microanalytical data, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility, IR, UV-Vis1H NMR and ESR spectra. IR and UV-Vis spectral data suggest that all the complexes are square-planar except the Mn(II) and VO(II) chelates, which are of octahedral and square pyramidal geometry respectively. The monomeric and neutral nature of the complexes was confirmed by their magnetic susceptibility data and low conductance values. The ESR spectra of copper and vanadyl complexes in DMSO solution at 300 K and 77 K were recorded and their salient features are reported.  相似文献

The Schiff base ligands, 2-hydroxy-N-cyclohexyl-l-naphthaldimine (I), and 3-hydroxy-N-cyclohexyl-2-naphthaldimine (II), and their corresponding CuII complexes (1–2) respectively were synthesized and characterized. The crystal and molecular structures of bis-{(cyclohexyl)[(2-oxo-1H-naphth-1-ylidene)-methyl]aminato}copper(II) (1) and bis-{(cyclohexyl)[(3-oxo-2H-naphth-2-ylidene)-methyl]aminato} copper(II) (2), were determined. The X-ray diffraction study shows that the geometry around the metal atom for (1), is stepped square planar with a step of 1.063 Å while for (2), the geometry around the metal atom for square planar with an angle between the coordination planes O(1)---Cu---N(1) and O(1a)---Cu---N(1a) of 39.9°. Electrochemical studies show a dependence of the CuII/CuI potentials on the ligand structure.  相似文献

Varying coordination modes of the Schiff base ligand H2L [5-methyl-1-H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid (1-pyridin-2-yl-ethylidene)-hydrazide] towards different metal centers are reported with the syntheses and characterization of four mononuclear Mn(II), Co(II), Cd(II) and Zn(II) complexes, [Mn(H2L)(H2O)2](ClO4)2(MeOH) (1), [Co(H2L)(NCS)2] (2), [Cd(H2L)(H2O)2](ClO4)2 (3) and [Zn(H2L)(H2O)2](ClO4)2 (4), and a binuclear Cu(II) complex, [Cu2(L)2](ClO4)2 (5). In the complexes 1-4 the neutral ligand serves as a 3N,2O donor where the pyridine ring N, two azomethine N and two carbohydrazine oxygen atoms are coordinatively active, leaving the pyrazole-N atoms inactive. In the case of complex 5, each ligand molecule behaves as a 4N,O donor utilizing the pyridine N, one azomethine N, the nitrogen atom proximal to the azomethine of the remaining pendant arm and one pyrazole-N atom to one metal center and the carbohydrazide oxygen atom to the second metal center. The complexes 1-4 are pentagonal bipyramidal in geometry. In each case, the ligand molecule spans the equatorial plane while the apical positions are occupied by water molecules in 1, 3 and 4 and two N bonded thiocyanate ions in 2. In complex 5, the two Cu(II) centers have almost square pyramidal geometry (τ = 0.05 for Cu1 and 0.013 for Cu2). Four N atoms from a ligand molecule form the basal plane and the carbohydrazide oxygen atom of a second ligand molecule sits in the apex of the square pyramid. All the complexes have been X-ray crystallographically characterized. The Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes show considerable fluorescence emission while the remaining complexes and the ligand molecule are fluorescent silent.  相似文献

Oxygen absorption–desorption processes for square planar Mn(II), Co(II) and Mn(II) complexes of tetradentate Schiff base ligands in DMF and chloroform solvents were investigated. The tetradentate Schiff base ligands were obtained by condensation reaction of ethylenediamine with salcyldehyde, o-hydroxyacetophenone or acetylacetone in the molar ratio 1:2. The square planar complexes were prepared by the reaction of the Schiff base ligands with Mn(II) acetate, Co(II) nitrate and Ni(II) nitrate in dry ethanol under nitrogen atmosphere. The sorption processes were undertaken in the presence and absence of (pyridine) axial-base in 1:1 M ratio of (pyridine:metal(II) complexes). Complexes in DMF indicate significant oxygen affinity than in chloroform solvent. Cobalt(II) complexes showed significant sorption processes compared to Mn(II) and Ni(II) complexes. The presence of pyridine axial base clearly increases oxygen affinity.  相似文献
