Let \(\alpha \) and \(\beta \) be irrational real numbers and \(0<\varepsilon <1/30\). We prove a precise estimate for the number of positive integers \(q\le Q\) that satisfy \(\Vert q\alpha \Vert \cdot \Vert q\beta \Vert <\varepsilon \). If we choose \(\varepsilon \) as a function of Q, we get asymptotics as Q gets large, provided \(\varepsilon Q\) grows quickly enough in terms of the (multiplicative) Diophantine type of \((\alpha ,\beta )\), e.g., if \((\alpha ,\beta )\) is a counterexample to Littlewood’s conjecture, then we only need that \(\varepsilon Q\) tends to infinity. Our result yields a new upper bound on sums of reciprocals of products of fractional parts and sheds some light on a recent question of Lê and Vaaler.  相似文献

Little theoretical work has been done on edge flips in surface meshes despite their popular usage in graphics and solid modeling to improve mesh equality. We propose the class of \((\varepsilon ,\alpha )\)-meshes of a surface that satisfy several properties: the vertex set is an \(\varepsilon \)-sample of the surface, the triangle angles are no smaller than a constant \(\alpha \), some triangle has a good normal, and the mesh is homeomorphic to the surface. We believe that many surface meshes encountered in practice are \((\varepsilon ,\alpha )\)-meshes or close to being one. We prove that flipping the appropriate edges can smooth a dense \((\varepsilon ,\alpha )\)-mesh by making the triangle normals better approximations of the surface normals and the dihedral angles closer to \(\pi \). Moreover, the edge flips can be performed in time linear in the number of vertices. This helps to explain the effectiveness of edge flips as observed in practice and in our experiments. A corollary of our techniques is that, in \(\mathbb {R}^2\), every triangulation with a constant lower bound on the angles can be flipped in linear time to the Delaunay triangulation.  相似文献

Let \(({\mathcal M},g)\) be a smooth compact Riemannian manifold of dimension \(N\ge 2\). We prove the existence of a family \((\Omega _\varepsilon )_{\varepsilon \in (0,\varepsilon _0)}\) of self-Cheeger sets in \(({\mathcal M},g)\). The domains \(\Omega _\varepsilon \subset {\mathcal M}\) are perturbations of geodesic balls of radius \(\varepsilon \) centered at \(p \in {\mathcal M}\), and in particular, if \(p_0\) is a non-degenerate critical point of the scalar curvature of g, then the family \((\partial \Omega _\varepsilon )_{\varepsilon \in (0,\varepsilon _0)}\) constitutes a smooth foliation of a neighborhood of \(p_0\).  相似文献

In this paper, we study a special class of Finsler metrics, \((\alpha ,\beta )\)-metrics, defined by \(F=\alpha \phi (\beta /\alpha )\), where \(\alpha \) is a Riemannian metric and \(\beta \) is a 1-form. We find an equation that characterizes Ricci-flat \((\alpha ,\beta )\)-metrics under the condition that the length of \(\beta \) with respect to \(\alpha \) is constant.  相似文献

For an ordinal \(\varepsilon \), I introduce a variant of the notion of subcompleteness of a forcing poset, which I call \(\varepsilon \)-subcompleteness, and show that this class of forcings enjoys some closure properties that the original class of subcomplete forcings does not seem to have: factors of \(\varepsilon \)-subcomplete forcings are \(\varepsilon \)-subcomplete, and if \(\mathbb {P}\) and \(\mathbb {Q}\) are forcing-equivalent notions, then \(\mathbb {P}\) is \(\varepsilon \)-subcomplete iff \(\mathbb {Q}\) is. I formulate a Two Step Theorem for \(\varepsilon \)-subcompleteness and prove an RCS iteration theorem for \(\varepsilon \)-subcompleteness which is slightly less restrictive than the original one, in that its formulation is more careful about the amount of collapsing necessary. Finally, I show that an adequate degree of \(\varepsilon \)-subcompleteness follows from the \(\kappa \)-distributivity of a forcing, for \(\kappa >\omega _1\).  相似文献

Let \(\mathfrak g\) be a semisimple Lie algebra over a field \(\mathbb K\), \(\text{char}\left( \mathbb{K} \right)=0\), and \(\mathfrak g_1\) a subalgebra reductive in \(\mathfrak g\). Suppose that the restriction of the Killing form B of \(\mathfrak g\) to \(\mathfrak g_1 \times \mathfrak g_1\) is nondegenerate. Consider the following statements: ( 1) For any Cartan subalgebra \(\mathfrak h_1\) of \(\mathfrak g_1\) there is a unique Cartan subalgebra \(\mathfrak h\) of \(\mathfrak g\) containing \(\mathfrak h_1\); ( 2) \(\mathfrak g_1\) is self-normalizing in \(\mathfrak g\); ( 3) The B-orthogonal \(\mathfrak p\) of \(\mathfrak g_1\) in \(\mathfrak g\) is simple as a \(\mathfrak g_1\)-module for the adjoint representation. We give some answers to this natural question: For which pairs \((\mathfrak g,\mathfrak g_1)\) do ( 1), ( 2) or ( 3) hold? We also study how \(\mathfrak p\) in general decomposes as a \(\mathfrak g_1\)-module, and when \(\mathfrak g_1\) is a maximal subalgebra of \(\mathfrak g\). In particular suppose \((\mathfrak g,\sigma )\) is a pair with \(\mathfrak g\) as above and σ its automorphism of order m. Assume that \(\mathbb K\) contains a primitive m-th root of unity. Define \(\mathfrak g_1:=\mathfrak g^{\sigma}\), the fixed point algebra for σ. We prove the following generalization of a well known result for symmetric Lie algebras, i.e., for m=2: (a) \((\mathfrak g,\mathfrak g_1)\) satisfies ( 1); (b) For m prime, \((\mathfrak g,\mathfrak g_1)\) satisfies ( 2).  相似文献

A bounded linear operator T acting on a Hilbert space is said to have orthogonality property \(\mathcal {O}\) if the subspaces \(\ker (T-\alpha )\) and \(\ker (T-\beta )\) are orthogonal for all \(\alpha , \beta \in \sigma _p(T)\) with \(\alpha \ne \beta \). In this paper, the authors investigate the compact perturbations of operators with orthogonality property \(\mathcal {O}\). We give a sufficient and necessary condition to determine when an operator T has the following property: for each \(\varepsilon >0\), there exists \(K\in \mathcal {K(H)}\) with \(\Vert K\Vert <\varepsilon \) such that \(T+K\) has orthogonality property \(\mathcal {O}\). Also, we study the stability of orthogonality property \(\mathcal {O}\) under small compact perturbations and analytic functional calculus.  相似文献

We consider high frequency samples from ergodic Lévy driven stochastic differential equation with drift coefficient \(a(x,\alpha )\) and scale coefficient \(c(x,\gamma )\) involving unknown parameters \(\alpha \) and \(\gamma \). We suppose that the Lévy measure \(\nu _{0}\), has all order moments but is not fully specified. We will prove the joint asymptotic normality of some estimators of \(\alpha \), \(\gamma \) and a class of functional parameter \(\int \varphi (z)\nu _0(dz)\), which are constructed in a two-step manner: first, we use the Gaussian quasi-likelihood for estimation of \((\alpha ,\gamma )\); and then, for estimating \(\int \varphi (z)\nu _0(dz)\) we make use of the method of moments based on the Euler-type residual with the the previously obtained quasi-likelihood estimator.  相似文献

We study the properties of Carnot–Carathéodory spaces attached to a strictly pseudoconvex CR manifold M, in a neighborhood of each point \(x \in M\), versus the pseudohermitian geometry of M arising from a fixed positively oriented contact form \(\theta \) on M. The weak Dirichlet problem for the sublaplacian \(\Delta _b\) on \((M, \theta )\) is solved on domains \(\Omega \subset M\) supporting the Poincaré inequality. The solution to Neumann problem for the sublaplacian \(\Delta _b\) on a \(C^{1,1}\) connected \((\epsilon , \delta )\)-domain \(\Omega \subset {{\mathbb {G}}}\) in a Carnot group (due to Danielli et al. in: Memoirs of American Mathematical Society 2006) is revisited for domains in a CR manifold. As an application we prove discreetness of the Dirichlet and Neumann spectra of \(\Delta _b\) on \(\Omega \subset M\) in a Carnot–Carthéodory complete pseudohermitian manifold \((M, \theta )\).  相似文献

Let \(\Omega \) be a bounded domain with smooth boundary in an n-dimensional metric measure space \((\mathbb {R}^n, \langle ,\rangle , e^{-\phi }dv)\) and let \(\mathbf {u}=(u^1, \ldots , u^n)\) be a vector-valued function from \(\Omega \) to \(\mathbb {R}^n\). In this paper, we investigate the Dirichlet eigenvalue problem of a system of equations of the drifting Laplacian: \(\mathbb {L}_{\phi } \mathbf {u} + \alpha [ \nabla (\mathrm {div}\mathbf { u}) -\nabla \phi \mathrm {div} \mathbf {u}]= - \widetilde{\sigma } \mathbf {u}\), in \( \Omega \), and \(u|_{\partial \Omega }=0,\) where \(\mathbb {L}_{\phi } = \Delta - \nabla \phi \cdot \nabla \) is the drifting Laplacian and \(\alpha \) is a nonnegative constant. We establish some universal inequalities for lower order eigenvalues of this problem on the metric measure space \((\mathbb {R}^n, \langle ,\rangle , e^{-\phi }dv)\) and the Gaussian shrinking soliton \((\mathbb {R}^n, \langle ,\rangle _{\mathrm {can}}, e^{-\frac{|x|^2}{4}}dv, \frac{1}{2})\). Moreover, we give an estimate for the upper bound of the second eigenvalue of this problem in terms of its first eigenvalue on the gradient product Ricci soliton \((\Sigma \times \mathbb {R}, \langle ,\rangle , e^{-\frac{\kappa t^2}{2}}dv, \kappa )\), where \( \Sigma \) is an Einstein manifold with constant Ricci curvature \(\kappa \).  相似文献

We study various classes of maximality principles, \(\mathrm {MP}(\kappa ,\Gamma )\), introduced by Hamkins (J Symb Log 68(2):527–550, 2003), where \(\Gamma \) defines a class of forcing posets and \(\kappa \) is an infinite cardinal. We explore the consistency strength and the relationship of \(\textsf {MP}(\kappa ,\Gamma )\) with various forcing axioms when \(\kappa \in \{\omega ,\omega _1\}\). In particular, we give a characterization of bounded forcing axioms for a class of forcings \(\Gamma \) in terms of maximality principles MP\((\omega _1,\Gamma )\) for \(\Sigma _1\) formulas. A significant part of the paper is devoted to studying the principle MP\((\kappa ,\Gamma )\) where \(\kappa \in \{\omega ,\omega _1\}\) and \(\Gamma \) defines the class of stationary set preserving forcings. We show that MP\((\kappa ,\Gamma )\) has high consistency strength; on the other hand, if \(\Gamma \) defines the class of proper forcings or semi-proper forcings, then by Hamkins (2003), MP\((\kappa ,\Gamma )\) is consistent relative to \(V=L\).  相似文献

In this paper, we study the blow-up phenomena on the \(\alpha _k\)-harmonic map sequences with bounded uniformly \(\alpha _k\)-energy, denoted by \(\{u_{\alpha _k}: \alpha _k>1 \quad \text{ and } \quad \alpha _k\searrow 1\}\), from a compact Riemann surface into a compact Riemannian manifold. If the Ricci curvature of the target manifold has a positive lower bound and the indices of the \(\alpha _k\)-harmonic map sequence with respect to the corresponding \(\alpha _k\)-energy are bounded, then we can conclude that, if the blow-up phenomena occurs in the convergence of \(\{u_{\alpha _k}\}\) as \(\alpha _k\searrow 1\), the limiting necks of the convergence of the sequence consist of finite length geodesics, hence the energy identity holds true. For a harmonic map sequence \(u_k:(\Sigma ,h_k)\rightarrow N\), where the conformal class defined by \(h_k\) diverges, we also prove some similar results.  相似文献

We study the typical behavior of the harmonic measure in large critical Galton–Watson trees whose offspring distribution is in the domain of attraction of a stable distribution with index \(\alpha \in (1,2]\). Let \(\mu _n\) denote the hitting distribution of height n by simple random walk on the critical Galton–Watson tree conditioned on non-extinction at generation n. We extend the results of Lin (Typical behavior of the harmonic measure in critical Galton–Watson trees, arXiv:1502.05584, 2015) to prove that, with high probability, the mass of the harmonic measure \(\mu _n\) carried by a random vertex uniformly chosen from height n is approximately equal to \(n^{-\lambda _\alpha }\), where the constant \(\lambda _\alpha >\frac{1}{\alpha -1}\) depends only on the index \(\alpha \). In the analogous continuous model, this constant \(\lambda _\alpha \) turns out to be the typical local dimension of the continuous harmonic measure. Using an explicit formula for \(\lambda _\alpha \), we are able to show that \(\lambda _\alpha \) decreases with respect to \(\alpha \in (1,2]\), and it goes to infinity at the same speed as \((\alpha -1)^{-2}\) when \(\alpha \) approaches 1.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the harmonic equation involving subcritical exponent \((P_{\varepsilon })\): \( \Delta u = 0 \), in \(\mathbb {B}^n\) and \(\displaystyle \frac{\partial u}{\partial \nu } + \displaystyle \frac{n-2}{2}u = \displaystyle \frac{n-2}{2} K u^{\frac{n}{n-2}-\varepsilon }\) on \( \mathbb {S}^{n-1}\) where \(\mathbb {B}^n \) is the unit ball in \(\mathbb {R}^n\), \(n\ge 5\) with Euclidean metric \(g_0\), \(\partial \mathbb {B}^n = \mathbb {S}^{n-1}\) is its boundary, K is a function on \(\mathbb {S}^{n-1}\) and \(\varepsilon \) is a small positive parameter. We construct solutions of the subcritical equation \((P_{\varepsilon })\) which blow up at two different critical points of K. Furthermore, we construct solutions of \((P_{\varepsilon })\) which have two bubbles and blow up at the same critical point of K.  相似文献

We consider the 2D Navier–Stokes equation on \(\mathbb T \times \mathbb R\), with initial datum that is \(\varepsilon \)-close in \(H^N\) to a shear flow (U(y), 0), where \(\Vert U(y) - y\Vert _{H^{N+4}} \ll 1\) and \(N>1\). We prove that if \(\varepsilon \ll \nu ^{1/2}\), where \(\nu \) denotes the inverse Reynolds number, then the solution of the Navier–Stokes equation remains \(\varepsilon \)-close in \(H^1\) to \((e^{t \nu \partial _{yy}}U(y),0)\) for all \(t>0\). Moreover, the solution converges to a decaying shear flow for times \(t \gg \nu ^{-1/3}\) by a mixing-enhanced dissipation effect, and experiences a transient growth of gradients. In particular, this shows that the stability threshold in finite regularity scales no worse than \(\nu ^{1/2}\) for 2D shear flows close to the Couette flow.  相似文献

In this paper, we will study the dependence of eigen-pairs \((\lambda _k(\rho ), \varphi _k(x,\rho ))\) of weighted Dirichlet eigenvalue problem on weights \(\rho \). It will be shown that \(\lambda _k(\rho )\) and \(\varphi _k(x,\rho )\) are completely continuous (CC) in \(\rho \). Precisely, when \(\rho _n\) is weakly convergent to \(\rho \) in some Lebesgue space, \(\lambda _k(\rho _n)\) is convergent to \(\lambda _k(\rho )\). As for the convergence of eigenfunctions, since eigenvalues may have multiple eigenfunctions, it will be shown that the distance from \(\varphi _k(x,\rho _n)\) to the eigen space \(V_k(\rho )\) of \(\lambda _k(\rho )\) is tending to zero. As applications, the CC dependence of solutions of linear inhomogeneous equations and the CC dependence of the heat kernels on coefficients will be given.  相似文献

The first main theorem of this paper asserts that any \((\sigma , \tau )\)-derivation d, under certain conditions, either is a \(\sigma \)-derivation or is a scalar multiple of (\(\sigma - \tau \)), i.e. \(d = \lambda (\sigma - \tau )\) for some \(\lambda \in \mathbb {C} \backslash \{0\}\). By using this characterization, we achieve a result concerning the automatic continuity of \((\sigma , \tau \))-derivations on Banach algebras which reads as follows. Let \(\mathcal {A}\) be a unital, commutative, semi-simple Banach algebra, and let \(\sigma , \tau : \mathcal {A} \rightarrow \mathcal {A}\) be two distinct endomorphisms such that \(\varphi \sigma (\mathbf e )\) and \(\varphi \tau (\mathbf e )\) are non-zero complex numbers for all \(\varphi \in \Phi _\mathcal {A}\). If \(d : \mathcal {A} \rightarrow \mathcal {A}\) is a \((\sigma , \tau )\)-derivation such that \(\varphi d\) is a non-zero linear functional for every \(\varphi \in \Phi _\mathcal {A}\), then d is automatically continuous. As another objective of this research, we prove that if \(\mathfrak {M}\) is a commutative von Neumann algebra and \(\sigma :\mathfrak {M} \rightarrow \mathfrak {M}\) is an endomorphism, then every Jordan \(\sigma \)-derivation \(d:\mathfrak {M} \rightarrow \mathfrak {M}\) is identically zero.  相似文献

The main purpose of the paper is the study of the total space of a holomorphic Lie algebroid E. The paper is structured in three parts. In the first section, we briefly introduce basic notions on holomorphic Lie algebroids. The local expressions are written and the complexified holomorphic bundle is introduced. The second section presents two approaches on the study of the geometry of the complex manifold E. The first part contains the study of the tangent bundle \(T_{\mathbb {C}}E=T'E\oplus T''E\) and its link, via the tangent anchor map, with the complexified tangent bundle \(T_{\mathbb {C}}(T'M)=T'(T'M)\oplus T''(T'M)\). A holomorphic Lie algebroid structure is emphasized on \(T'E\). A special study is made for integral curves of a spray on \(T'E\). Theorem 2.8 gives the coefficients of a spray, called canonical, obtained from a complex Lagrangian on \(T'E\). In the second part of section two, we study the holomorphic prolongation \(\mathcal {T}'E\) of the Lie algebroid E. In the third section, we study how a complex Lagrange (Finsler) structure on \(T'M\) induces a Lagrangian structure on E. Three particular cases are analysed by the rank of the anchor map, the dimensions of manifold M, and those of the fibres. We obtain the correspondent on E of the Chern–Lagrange nonlinear connection from \(T'M\).  相似文献

On a compact Riemannian manifold M with boundary, we give an estimate for the eigenvalues \((\lambda _k(\tau ,\alpha ))_k\) of the magnetic Laplacian with Robin boundary conditions. Here, \(\tau \) is a positive number that defines the Robin condition and \(\alpha \) is a real differential 1-form on M that represents the magnetic field. We express these estimates in terms of the mean curvature of the boundary, the parameter \(\tau \), and a lower bound of the Ricci curvature of M (see Theorem 1.3 and Corollary 1.5). The main technique is to use the Bochner formula established in Egidi et al. (Ricci curvature and eigenvalue estimates for the magentic Laplacian on manifolds, arXiv:1608.01955v1) for the magnetic Laplacian and to integrate it over M (see Theorem 1.2). In the last part, we compare the eigenvalues \(\lambda _k(\tau ,\alpha )\) with the first eigenvalue \(\lambda _1(\tau )=\lambda _1(\tau ,0)\) (i.e. without magnetic field) and the Neumann eigenvalues \(\lambda _k(0,\alpha )\) (see Theorem 1.6) using the min-max principle.  相似文献
