On some generalizations of the classical Riemann problem

The special class of the homogeneous vector boundary Riemann problems on the finite sequence of algebraic surfaces is investigated completely. Its coefficients are the noncommutative permutative matrices of the arbitrary but not prime order, and boundary conditions are given on the system of open contours. The constructive solution procedure and definite structure of the canonical solution matrix are obtained and present some generalizations of the classical Riemann problem. Simultaneously the corresponding class of algebraic equations for the appropriate covering surfaces is formed explicitly too. (© 2008 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)     

The Schwarz problem for analytic functions in torus-related domains

The Cauchy kernel is one of the two significant tools for solving the Riemann boundary value problem for analytic functions. For poly-domains, the Cauchy kernel is modified in such a way that it corresponds to a certain symmetry of the boundary values of holomorphic functions in poly-domains. This symmetry is lost if the classical counterpart of the one-dimensional form of the Cauchy kernel is applied. It is also decisive for the establishment of connection between the Riemann–Hilbert problem and the Riemann problem. Thus, not only the Schwarz problem for holomorphic functions in poly-domains is solved, but also the basis is established for solving some other problems. The boundary values of functions, holomorphic in poly-domains, are classified in the Wiener algebra. The general integral representation formulas for these functions, the solvability conditions and the solutions of the corresponding Schwarz problems are given explicitly. A necessary and sufficient condition for the boundary values of a holomorphic function for arbitrary poly-domains is given. At the end, well-posed formulations of the torus-related problems are considered.     

Non‐linear singular integral equations on a finite interval

A class of nonlinear singular integral equations of Cauchy type on a finite interval is transformed to an equivalent class of (discontinuous) boundary value problems for holomorphic functions in the complex unit disk. Using recent results on the solvability of explicit Riemann–Hilbert problems, we prove the existence of solutions to the integral equation with bounded piecewise continuous nonlinearities. We discuss the influence of parameters and additional conditions and demonstrate the approach for a free boundary problem arising from seepage near a channel. The torus related Riemann problem

The Riemann jump problem is solved for analytic functions of several complex variables with the unit torus as the jump manifold. A well-posed formulation is given which does not demand any solvability conditions. The higher dimensional Plemelj-Sokhotzki formula for analytic functions in torus domains is established. The canonical functions of the Riemann problem for torus domains are represented and applied in order to construct solutions for both of the homogeneous and inhomogeneous problems. Thus contrary to earlier research the results are similar to the respective ones for just one variable. A connection between the Riemann and the Riemann-Hilbert boundary value problem for the unit polydisc is explained.     

The Riemann–Hilbert problem in Hardy classes for general first-order elliptic systems

We consider the Riemann–Hilbert (Hilbert) problem in classes similar to the Hardy class for general first-order elliptic systems on a plane. We establish basic properties ofHardy classes for solutions of that systems and solvability conditions for boundary-value problems. We construct the example demonstrating that for discontinuous coefficients the solvability features differ from the pictures of solvability of analogous problems for holomorphic and generalized analytic functions. In particular, the problem with positive index can be unsolvable.     

On Riemann problems for single‐periodic polyanalytic functions

In this article, Riemann‐type boundary‐value problem of single‐periodic polyanalytic functions has been investigated. By the decomposition of single‐periodic polyanalytic functions, the problem is transformed into n equivalent and independent Riemann boundary‐value problems of single‐periodic analytic functions, which has been discussed in details according to two growth orders of functions. Finally, we obtain the explicit expression of the solution and the conditions of solvability for Riemann problem of the single‐periodic polyanalytic functions.     

Boundary value problem for a second-order elliptic equation in the exterior of an ellipse

We consider a boundary value problem for a second-order linear elliptic differential equation with constant coefficients in a domain that is the exterior of an ellipse. The boundary conditions of the problem contain the values of the function itself and its normal derivative. We give a constructive solution of the problem and find the number of solvability conditions for the inhomogeneous problem as well as the number of linearly independent solutions of the homogeneous problem. We prove the boundary uniqueness theorem for the solutions of this equation.     

Riemann problem and singular integral equations with coefficients generated by piecewise constant functions

We study a Riemann boundary value problem with a shift into the interior of the domain. The problem has piecewise constant coefficients that take two values. We find conditions for the existence and uniqueness of a solution of the inhomogeneous problem and formulas for the number of linearly independent solutions of the homogeneous problem. We consider scalar singular integral operators with a shift and matrix characteristic operators whose coefficients are generated by piecewise constant functions and which have automorphic properties. For these operators, we find invertibility conditions.

Riemann–Hilbert-type Boundary Value Problems on a Half Hexagon

In this article we discuss the explicit solvability of both Schwarz boundary value problem and Riemann–Hilbert boundary value problem on a half hexagon in the complex plane. Schwarz-type and Pompeiu-type integrals are obtained. The boundary behavior of these operators is discussed.Finally, we investigate the Schwarz problem and the Riemann–Hilbert problem for inhomogeneous Cauchy–Riemann equations.

The Prym and Ganning Vector Bundles over the Teichmueller Space

We introduce and study the Prym vector bundle P of holomorphic Prym differentials and the Ganning cohomology bundle G over the Teichmueller space of compact Riemann surfaces of genus g2 and over the Torelli space of genus g2. We construct a basis of holomorphic Prym differentials on a variable compact Riemann surface which depends on the moduli of the compact Riemann surface and on the essential characters. From these bundles we compose an exact sequence of holomorphic vector bundles over the product of the Teichmueller space of genus g and a special domain in the complex manifold C ^2g/Z ^2g.     

On holomorphic solutions of some boundary-value problems for second-order elliptic operator differential equations

In the class of holomorphic vector functions, we determine the conditions of solvability of the boundaryvalue problem for a class of second-order operator differential equations expressed in terms of the operator coefficients appearing both in the equation and in the boundary condition.

In this paper,some kinds of singular integral equations of convolution type with reflection and translation shift are discussed and they are turned into Riemann boundary value problems with both discontinuous coefficients and reflection by using the Fourier transform.In spite of the classical method for solution,we are to give another method,therefore the general solution and condition of solvability are obtained in class{0}.

On the solvability of the tricomi problem for the Lavrent’ev-Bitsadze equation with mixed boundary conditions

We study the existence of a regular (classical) solution of the Tricomi problem for the Lavrent’ev-Bitsadze equation with mixed boundary conditions. We find conditions under which the homogeneous problem has only the zero solution and give an example in which the homogeneous Tricomi problem has a nonzero solution. We also study the solvability of the inhomogeneous Tricomi problem.     

Asymptotic approximations of solutions to parabolic boundary value problems in thin perforated domains of rapidly varying thickness

We consider initial boundary value problems for parabolic differential equations with rapidly oscillating coefficients in thin perforated domains of rapidly varying thickness. Under certain symmetry conditions on the domain and coefficients, we construct an asymptotic expansion of a solution to the problem with homogeneous third kind conditions on the exterior boundary and the boundary of cavities. In the case of inhomogeneous Neumann conditions, we construct an asymptotic solution without symmetry assumptions and prove an asymptotic estimate in the corresponding Sobolev space. Persistency of wellposedness of Ventcel’s boundary value problem under shape deformations

Ventcel boundary conditions are second order differential conditions that appear in asymptotic models. Like Robin boundary conditions, they lead to well-posed variational problems under a sign condition of the coefficient. This is achieved when physical situations are considered. Nevertheless, situations where this condition is violated appeared in several recent works where absorbing boundary conditions or equivalent boundary conditions on rough surfaces are sought for numerical purposes. The well-posedness of such problems was recently investigated: up to a countable set of parameters, existence and uniqueness of the solution for the Ventcel boundary value problem holds without the sign condition. However, the values to be avoided depend on the domain where the boundary value problem is set. In this work, we address the question of the persistency of the solvability of the boundary value problem under domain deformation.     

Integral equations in a diffraction problem on a locally inhomogeneous medium interface

We study the diffraction of an E-polarized field on a locally inhomogeneous interface of transparent media. We prove the unique solvability of the boundary value diffraction problem and obtain integral representations of the solution. We derive a system of integral equations equivalent to the original boundary value problem and prove a solvability theorem for this system.
