The series of novel mixed-ligand iridium(III) complexes Ir(Mebib)(ppy)X (Mebib = bis(N-methylbenzimidazolyl)benzene and ppy = phenylpyridine; X = Cl, 1; X = -C[triple band]CH, 2; X = CN, 3) have been investigated theoretically to explore their electronic structures and spectroscopic properties. The ground and excited state geometries have been fully optimized at the B3LYP/LANL2DZ and CIS/LANL2DZ levels, respectively. The optimized geometry structural parameters agree well with the corresponding experimental results. The HOMO of 1 and 3 are mainly localized on the Ir atom, Mebib, and ppy ligand, but that of 2 has significant X ligand composition. Absorptions and phosphorescences in CH2 Cl2 media have been calculated using the TD-DFT level of theory with the PCM model based on the optimized ground and excited state geometries, respectively. The lowest lying absorptions of 1 and 3 at 444 and 416 nm are attributed to a {[d(yz)(Ir) + pi(Mebib) + pi(ppy)] --> [pi*(Mebib)]} transition with metal-to-ligand, ligand-to-ligand, and intra-ligand charge transfer (MLCT/LLCT/ILCT) character, whereas that of 2 at 458 nm is related to a {[d(yz)(Ir) + pi(Mebib) + pi(ppy) + pi(C[triple band]CH)] --> [pi*(Mebib)]} transition with MLCT/LLCT/ILCT and X ligand-to-ligand charge transfer (XLCT) transition character. The phosphorescence of 1 and 3 at 565 and 543 nm originates from the 3{[dy(yz)(Ir) + pi(Mebib) + pi(ppy)] [pi*(Mebib)]} excited state, while that of 2 at 576 nm originates from the 3{[d(yz)(Ir) + pi(Mebib) + pi(ppy) + pi(C[triple band]CH)] [pi*(Mebib)]} excited state. The calculation results show that the absorption and emission transition character can be changed by altering the pi electron-withdrawing ability of the X ligand and the phosphorescent color can be tuned by adjusting the X ligand.  相似文献

A family of bis-terdentate iridium(III) complexes is reported which contain a cyclometalated, N/\C[wedge]N-coordinating 1,3-di(2-pyridyl)benzene derivative. This coordination mode is favored by blocking competitive cyclometalation at the C4 and C6 positions of the ligand. Thus, 1,3-di(2-pyridyl)-4,6-dimethylbenzene (dpyxH) reacts with IrCl3 x 3H2O to generate a dichlorobridged dimer [Ir(dpyx-N,C,N)Cl(mu-Cl)]2, 1. This dimer is cleaved by DMSO to give [Ir(dpyx)(DMSO)Cl2], the X-ray crystal structure of which is reported here, confirming the N/\C/\N coordination mode of dpyx. The dimer 1 can also be cleaved by a variety of other ligands to generate novel classes of mononuclear complexes. These include charge-neutral bis-terdentate complexes of the form [Ir(N/\C/\N)(C/\N/\C)] and [Ir(N/\C/\N)(C/\N/\O)], by reaction of 1 with C/\N/\C-coordinating ligands (e.g., 2,6-diphenylpyridine and derivatives) and C/\N/\O-coordinating ligands (based on 6-phenylpicolinate), respectively. Treatment of 1 with terpyridines leads to dicationic complexes of the type [Ir(N/\C/\N)(N/\N/\N)]2+, while 2-phenylpyridine gives [Ir(dpyx-N/\C/\N)(ppy-C,N)Cl]. All of the charge-neutral complexes are luminescent in fluid solution at room temperature. Assignment of the emission to charge-transfer excited states with significant MLCT character is supported by DFT calculations. In the [Ir(N/\C/\N)(C/\N/\C)] class, fluorination of the C/\N/\C ligand at the phenyl 2' and 4' positions leads to a blue-shift in the emission and to an increase in the quantum yield (lambda(max) = 547 nm, phi = 0.41 in degassed CH(3)CN at 295 K) compared to the nonfluorinated parent complex (lambda(max) = 585 nm, phi = 0.21), as well as to a stabilization of the compound with respect to photodissociation through cleavage of mutually trans Ir-C bonds. [Ir(dpyx-N/\C/\N)(ppy-C,N)Cl] is an exceptionally bright emitter: phi = 0.76, lambda(max) = 508 nm, in CH(3)CN at 295 K. In contrast, the [Ir(N/\C/\N)(C/\N/\O)] complexes are much less emissive, shown to be due to fast nonradiative decay of the excited state, probably involving reversible Ir-O bond cleavage. The [Ir(N/\C/\N)(N/\N/\N)]2+ complexes are very feeble emitters even at 77 K, probably due to the almost exclusively interligand charge-transfer nature of the lowest-energy excited state in these complexes.  相似文献

Luminescent cyclometalated rhodium(III) and iridium(III) complexes of the general formula [M(ppy) 2(N (wedge)N)][PF 6], with N (wedge)N = Hcmbpy = 4-carboxy-4'-methyl-2,2'-bipyridine and M = Rh ( 1), Ir ( 2) and N (wedge)N = H 2dcbpy = 4,4'-dicarboxy-2,2'-bipyridine and M = Rh ( 3), Ir ( 4), were prepared in high yields and fully characterized. The X-ray molecular structure of the monocarboxylic iridium complex [Ir(ppy) 2(Hcmbpy)][PF 6] ( 2) was also determined. The photophysical properties of these compounds were studied and showed that the photoluminescence of rhodium complexes 1 and 3 and iridium complexes 2 and 4 originates from intraligand charge-transfer (ILCT) and metal-to-ligand charge-transfer/ligand-centered MLCT/LC excited states, respectively. For comparison purposes, the mono- and dicarboxylic acid ruthenium complexes [Ru(DIP) 2(Hcmbpy)][Cl] 2 ( 5) and [Ru(DIP) 2(H 2dcbpy)][Cl] 2 ( 6), where DIP = 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline, were also prepared, whose emission is MLCT in nature. Comparison of the photophysical behavior of these rhodium(III), iridium(III), and ruthenium(II) complexes reveals the influence of the carboxylic groups that affect in different ways the ILCT, MLCT, and LC states.  相似文献

The syntheses and study of the spectroscopic, redox, and photophysical properties of a new set of species based on Ir(III) cyclometalated building blocks are reported. This set includes three dinuclear complexes, that is, the symmetric (with respect to the bridging ligand) diiridium species [(ppy)(2)Ir(mu-L-OC(O)-C(O)O-L)Ir(ppy)(2)][PF(6)](2) (5; ppy = 2-phenylpyridine anion; L-OC(O)-C(O)O-L = bis[4-(6'-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridine-4'-yl)phenyl]-benzene-1,4-dicarboxylate), the asymmetric diiridium species [(ppy)(2)Ir(mu-L-OC(O)-L)Ir(ppy)(2)][PF(6)](2) (3; L-OC(O)-L = 4-([(6'-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridine-4'-yl)benzoyloxy]phenyl)-6'-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridine), and the mixed-metal Ir-Re species [(ppy)(2)Ir(mu-L-OC(O)-L)Re(CO)(3)Br][PF(6)] (4). Syntheses, characterization, and spectroscopic, photophysical, and redox properties of the model mononuclear compounds [Ir(ppy)(2)(L-OC(O)-L)][PF(6)] (2) and [Re(CO)(3)(L-COOH)Br] (6; L-COOH = 4'-(4-carboxyphenyl)-6'-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridine) are also reported, together with the syntheses of the new bridging ligands L-OC(O)-L and L-OC(O)-C(O)O-L. The absorption spectra of all the complexes are dominated by intense spin-allowed ligand-centered (LC) bands and by moderately intense spin-allowed metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) bands. Spin-forbidden MLCT absorption bands are also visible as low-energy tails at around 470 nm for all the complexes. All the new species exhibit metal-based irreversible oxidation and bipyridine-based reversible reduction processes in the potential window investigated (between +1.80 and -1.70 V vs SCE). The redox behavior indicates that the metal-based orbitals are only weakly interacting in dinuclear systems, whereas the two chelating halves of the bridging ligands exhibit noticeable electronic interactions. All the complexes are luminescent both at 77 K and at room temperature, with emission originating from triplet MLCT states. The luminescence properties are temperature- and solvent-dependent, in accord with general theories: emission lifetimes and quantum yields increase on passing from acetonitrile to dichloromethane fluid solution and from room-temperature fluid solution to 77 K rigid matrix. In the dinuclear mixed-chromophore species 3 and 4, photoinduced energy transfer across the ester-linked bridging ligands seems to occur with low efficiency.  相似文献

A series of asymmetrical bis-tridentate cyclometalated complexes including [Ru(Mebib)(Mebip)](+), [Ru(Mebip)(dpb)](+), [Ru(Mebip)(Medpb)](+), and [Ru(Mebib)(tpy)](+) and two bis-tridentate noncyclometalated complexes [Ru(Mebip)(2)](2+) and [Ru(Mebip)(tpy)](2+) were prepared and characterized, where Mebib is bis(N-methylbenzimidazolyl)benzene, Mebip is bis(N-methylbenzimidazolyl)pyridine, dpb is 1,3-di-2-pyridylbenzene, Medpb is 4,6-dimethyl-1,3-di-2-pyridylbenzene, and tpy is 2,2':6',2″-terpyridine. The solid-state structure of [Ru(Mebip)(Medpb)](+) is studied by X-ray crystallographic analysis. The electrochemical and spectroscopic properties of these ruthenium complexes were studied and compared with those of known complexes [Ru(tpy)(dpb)](+) and [Ru(tpy)(2)](2+). The change of the supporting ligands and coordination environment allows progressive modulation of the metal-associated redox potentials (Ru(II/III)) from +0.26 to +1.32 V vs Ag/AgCl. The introduction of a ruthenium cyclometalated bond in these complexes results in a significant negative potential shift. The Ru(II/III) potentials of these complexes were analyzed on the basis of Lever's electrochemical parameters (E(L)). Density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT calculations were carried out to elucidate the electronic structures and spectroscopic spectra of complexes with Mebib or Mebip ligands.  相似文献

A series of novel emissive Ir(III) complexes having the coordination environments of [Ir(N--N--N)2]3+, [Ir(N--N--N)(N--N)Cl]2+, and [Ir(N--N--N)(N--C--N)]2+ with 2,6-bis(1-methyl-benzimidazol-2-yl)pyridine (L1, N--N--N), 1,3-bis(1-methyl-benzimidazol-2-yl)benzene (L2H, N--C--N), 4'-(4-methylphenyl)-2,2':6',2' '-terpyridine (ttpy, N--N--N), and 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy, N--N) have been synthesized and their photophysical and electrochemical properties studied. The Ir(III) complexes exhibited phosphorescent emissions in the 500-600 nm region, with lifetimes ranging from approximately 1-10 micros at 295 K. Analysis of the 0-0 energies and the redox potentials indicated that the lowest excited state of [Ir(L1)(L2)]2+ possessed the highest contribution of 3MLCT (MLCT = metal-to-ligand charge transfer) among the Ir(III) complexes, reflecting the sigma-donating ability of the tridentate ligand, ttpy < L1 < L2. The emission quantum yields (phi) of the Ir(III) complexes ranged from 0.037 to 0.19, and the highest phi value (0.19) was obtained for [Ir(L1)(bpy)Cl]2+. Radiative rate constants (k(r)) were 1.2 x 10(4) s(-1) for [Ir(ttpy)2]3+, 3.7 x 10(4) s(-1) for [Ir(L1)(bpy)Cl]2+, 3.8 x 10(4) s(-1) for [Ir(ttpy)(bpy)Cl]2+, 3.9 x 10(4) s(-1) for [Ir(L1)2]3+, and 6.6 x 10(4) s(-1) for [Ir(L1)(L2)]2+. The highest radiative rate for [Ir(L1)(L2)]2+ with the highest contribution of 3MLCT could be explained in terms of the singlet-triplet mixing induced by spin-orbit coupling of 5d electrons in the MLCT electronic configurations.  相似文献

Hexafluorophosphate salts of mononuclear complexes [Ru(II)Cl(L)(terpy)]+ (L = dmbpy (1); dpbpy (2), sambpy (3), and dpp (7), and binuclear complexes [Ru(II)2Cl2(dpp)(terpy)2]2+ (8) and [Ir(III)Ru(II)Cl2(dpp)(terpy)2]3+ (9) were prepared and characterized. Abbreviations of the ligands are bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, dmbpy = 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine, dpbpy = 4,4'-diphenyl-2,2'-bipyridine, dpp = 2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine, sambpy = 4,4'-bis((S)-(+)-alpha-1-phenylethylamido)-2,2'-bipyridine, and terpy = 2,2':6',2'-terpyridine. The absorption spectra of 8 and 9 are dominated by ligand-centered bands in the UV region and by metal-to-ligand charge-transfer bands in the visible region. The details of their spectroscopic and electrochemical properties were investigated. In both binuclear complexes, it has been found that the HOMO is based on the Ru metal, and LUMO is dpp-based. [Ir(III)Ru(II)Cl2(dpp)(terpy)2]3+, indicating intense emission at room temperature, and a lifetime of 154 ns. The long lifetime of this bimetallic chromophore makes it a useful component in the design of supramolecular complexes.  相似文献

A system pairing the luminescent core of [Ir(ppy)(2)L(2)](+) (ppy = 2-phenylpyridine) with simple hydrazino ancillary ligands (L = N(2)H(4)) has been prepared for the direct optical detection of carbon dioxide (CO(2)). Silver-assisted and silver-free techniques were used for the successful introduction of N(2)H(4) into the [Ir(ppy)(2)Cl](2) coordination sphere at room temperature to give the corresponding biscyclometalated iridium(III) hydrazino species as either a CF(3)SO(3)(-) (OTf(-), 2a) or Cl(-) (2b) salt. The silver-free route was accomplished by the direct replacement of the ligated Cl(-) using a slight excess of hydrazine. The luminescence profile of the cationic iridium(III) hydrazino complex 2a (λ(max) = 501 nm) undergoes a red shift (λ(max) = 524 nm), accompanied by a change in the peak shape during exposure to CO(2) in solution. The spectral changes observed are attributed to the formation of the corresponding neutral carbazate species Ir(ppy)(2)(H(2)NNHCOO) (3) and are not consistent with protonation of the ligated hydrazine. Conversion of the hydrazino species to the carbazate species is solvent-dependent and irreversible. The hydrazino and carbazate species have been structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction; both compounds exhibit long-lived and intense room temperature luminescence in solution with τ = 1.56 and 1.80 μs and φ(em) = 0.42 and 0.45, respectively.  相似文献

Complexes [Ir(Cp*)Cl(n)(NH2Me)(3-n)]X(m) (n = 2, m = 0 (1), n = 1, m = 1, X = Cl (2a), n = 0, m = 2, X = OTf (3)) are obtained by reacting [Ir(Cp*)Cl(mu-Cl)]2 with MeNH2 (1:2 or 1:8) or with [Ag(NH2Me)2]OTf (1:4), respectively. Complex 2b (n = 1, m = 1, X = ClO 4) is obtained from 2a and NaClO4 x H2O. The reaction of 3 with MeC(O)Ph at 80 degrees C gives [Ir(Cp*){C,N-C6H4{C(Me)=N(Me)}-2}(NH2Me)]OTf (4), which in turn reacts with RNC to give [Ir(Cp*){C,N-C6H4{C(Me)=N(Me)}-2}(CNR)]OTf (R = (t)Bu (5), Xy (6)). [Ir(mu-Cl)(COD)]2 reacts with [Ag{N(R)=CMe2}2]X (1:2) to give [Ir{N(R)=CMe2}2(COD)]X (R = H, X = ClO4 (7); R = Me, X = OTf (8)). Complexes [Ir(CO)2(NH=CMe2)2]ClO4 (9) and [IrCl{N(R)=CMe2}(COD)] (R = H (10), Me (11)) are obtained from the appropriate [Ir{N(R)=CMe2}2(COD)]X and CO or Me4NCl, respectively. [Ir(Cp*)Cl(mu-Cl)]2 reacts with [Au(NH=CMe2)(PPh3)]ClO4 (1:2) to give [Ir(Cp*)(mu-Cl)(NH=CMe2)]2(ClO4)2 (12) which in turn reacts with PPh 3 or Me4NCl (1:2) to give [Ir(Cp*)Cl(NH=CMe2)(PPh3)]ClO4 (13) or [Ir(Cp*)Cl2(NH=CMe2)] (14), respectively. Complex 14 hydrolyzes in a CH2Cl2/Et2O solution to give [Ir(Cp*)Cl2(NH3)] (15). The reaction of [Ir(Cp*)Cl(mu-Cl)]2 with [Ag(NH=CMe2)2]ClO4 (1:4) gives [Ir(Cp*)(NH=CMe2)3](ClO4)2 (16a), which reacts with PPNCl (PPN = Ph3=P=N=PPh3) under different reaction conditions to give [Ir(Cp*)(NH=CMe2)3]XY (X = Cl, Y = ClO4 (16b); X = Y = Cl (16c)). Equimolar amounts of 14 and 16a react to give [Ir(Cp*)Cl(NH=CMe2)2]ClO4 (17), which in turn reacts with PPNCl to give [Ir(Cp*)Cl(H-imam)]Cl (R-imam = N,N'-N(R)=C(Me)CH2C(Me)2NHR (18a)]. Complexes [Ir(Cp*)Cl(R-imam)]ClO4 (R = H (18b), Me (19)) are obtained from 18a and AgClO4 or by refluxing 2b in acetone for 7 h, respectively. They react with AgClO4 and the appropriate neutral ligand or with [Ag(NH=CMe2)2]ClO4 to give [Ir(Cp*)(R-imam)L](ClO4)2 (R = H, L = (t)BuNC (20), XyNC (21); R = Me, L = MeCN (22)) or [Ir(Cp*)(H-imam)(NH=CMe2)](ClO4)2 (23a), respectively. The later reacts with PPNCl to give [Ir(Cp*)(H-imam)(NH=CMe2)]Cl(ClO4) (23b). The reaction of 22 with XyNC gives [Ir(Cp*)(Me-imam)(CNXy)](ClO4)2 (24). The structures of complexes 15, 16c and 18b have been solved by X-ray diffraction methods.  相似文献

A series of new monocationic iridium(iii) complexes [Ir(C^N)(2)(N^N)]PF(6) with "large-surface"α,α'-diimin ligands N^N (dap = 1,12-diazaperylene, dmedap = 2,11-dimethyl-1,12-diazaperylene, dipdap = 2,11-diisopropyl-1,12-diazaperylene) and different cyclometalating ligands C^N (piq = 1-phenylisoquinoline, bzq = benzo[h]quinoline, ppz = 1-phenylpyrazole, thpy = 2-(2-thienyl)pyridine, ppy = 2-phenylpyridine, meppy = 2-(4-methylphenyl)pyridine, dfppy = 2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)pyridine) were synthesized. The solid structures of the complexes [Ir(piq)(2)(dap)]PF(6), [Ir(bzq)(2)(dap)]PF(6), [Ir(ppy)(2)(dipdap)]PF(6), [Ir(piq)(2)(dmedap)]PF(6), [Ir(ppy)(2)(dap)]PF(6) and [Ir(ppz)(2)(dap)]PF(6) are reported. In [Ir(piq)(2)(dap)]PF(6), the dap ligand and one of the piq ligands of each cationic complex are involved in π-π stacking interactions forming supramolecular channels running along the crystallographic c axis. In the crystalline [Ir(bzq)(2)(dap)]PF(6)π-π stacking interactions between the metal complexes lead to the formation of a 2D layer structure. In addition, CH-π interactions were found in all compounds, which are what stabilizes the solid structure. In particular, a significant number of them were found in [Ir(piq)(2)(dap)]PF(6) and [Ir(bzq)(2)(dap)]PF(6). The crystal structures of [Ir(ppy)(2)(dipdap)]PF(6) and [Ir(ppy)(2)(dmedap)]PF(6) are also presented, being the first examples of bis-cyclometalated iridium(iii) complexes with phenanthroline-type α,α'-diimin ligands bearing bulky alkyl groups in the neighbourhood of the N-donor atoms. These ligands implicate a distorted octahedral coordination geometry that in turn destabilized the Ir-N(N^N) bonds. The new iridium(iii) complexes are not luminescent. All compounds show an electrochemically irreversible anodic peak between 1.15 and 1.58 V, which is influenced by the different cyclometalated ligands. All of the new complexes show two reversible successive one-electron "large-surface" ligand-centred reductions around -0.70 V and -1.30 V. Electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) and collision induced decomposition (CID) measurements were used to investigate the stability of the new complexes. Thereby, the stability agreed well with the order of the Ir-N(N^N) bond lengths.  相似文献

Newly prepared hydrido iridium(III) complexes [Ir(ppy)(PPh3)2(H)L](0,+) (ppy = bidentate 2-phenylpyridinato anionic ligand; L = MeCN (1b), CO (1c), CN(-) (1d); H being trans to the nitrogen of ppy ligand) emit blue light at the emission lambda(max) (452-457, 483-487 nm) significantly shorter than those (468, 495 nm) of the chloro complex Ir(ppy)(PPh3)2(H)(Cl) (1a). Replacing ppy of 1a-d with F2ppy (2,4-difluoro-2-phenylpyridinato anion) and F2Meppy (2,4-difluoro-2-phenyl-m-methylpyridinato anion) brings further blue-shifts down to the emission lambda(max) at 439-441 and 465-467 nm with CIE color coordinates being x = 0.16 and y = 0.18-0.20 to display a deep-blue photoemission. No significant blue shift is observed by replacing PPh3 of 1a with PPh2Me to produce Ir(ppy)(PPh2Me)2(H)(Cl) (1aPPh 2Me), which displays emission lambda max at 467 and 494 nm. The chloro complexes, [Ir(ppy)(PPh3)2(Cl)(L)](0,+) (L = MeCN (2b), CO (2c), CN(-) (2d)) having a chlorine ligand trans to the nitrogen of ppy also emit deep-blue light at emission lambda(max) 452-457 and 482-487 nm.  相似文献

The photophysical and electrochemical properties of the novel complexes [Ir(ppy)(2)(5-X-1,10-phen)][PF(6)] (ppy = 2-phenylpyridine, phen = phenanthroline, X = NMe(2), NO(2)), [Ir(pq)(2)(5-X-1,10-phen)][PF(6)] (pq = 2-phenylquinoline, X = H, Me, NMe(2), NO(2)), [Ir(ppy)2(4-Me,7-Me-1,10-phen)][PF(6)], [Ir(ppy)2(5-Me,6-Me-1,10-phen)][PF(6)], [Ir(ppy)(2)(2-Me,9-Me-1,10-phen)][PF(6)], and [Ir(pq)2(4-Ph,7-Ph-1,10-phen)][PF(6)] have been investigated and compared with those of the known reference complexes [Ir(ppy)(2)(4-Me or 5-H or 5-Me-1,10-phen)][PF(6)] and [Ir(ppy)(2)(4-Ph,7-Ph-1,10-phen)][PF(6)], showing how the nature and number of the phenanthroline substituents tune the color of the emission, its quantum yield, and the emission lifetime. It turns out that the quantum yield is strongly dependent on the nonradiative decay. The geometry, ground state, electronic structure, and excited electronic states of the investigated complexes have been calculated on the basis of density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT approaches, thus substantiating the electrochemical measurements and providing insight into the electronic origin of the absorption spectra and of the lowest excited states involved in the light emission process. These results provide useful guidelines for further tailoring of the photophysical properties of ionic Ir(III) complexes.  相似文献

Iridium(III) complexes with intense phosphorescence in solution have been widely applied in organic light-emitting diodes, chemosensors and bioimaging. However, little attention has been paid to iridium(III) complexes showing weak phosphorescence in solution and enhanced phosphorescence emission in the solid state (EPESS). In the present study, two β-diketonate ligands with different degrees of conjugation, 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-5-pyrazolone (HL1) and 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-phenylacetyl-5-pyrazolone (HL2), have been synthesized to be used as ancillary ligands for two iridium(III) complexes, Ir(ppy)(2)(L1) and Ir(ppy)(2)(L2) (Hppy = 2-phenylpyridine). The two complexes have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray crystallography, (1)H NMR and elemental analysis. Interestingly, Ir(ppy)(2)(L1) is EPESS-active whereas Ir(ppy)(2)(L2) exhibits moderately intense emission both in solution and as a neat film, indicating that the degree of conjugation of the β-diketone ligands determines the EPESS-activity. The single-crystal X-ray analysis has indicated that there are π-π interactions between the adjacent ppy ligands in Ir(ppy)(2)(L1) but not in Ir(ppy)(2)(L2). Finally, EPESS-active Ir(ppy)(2)(L1) has been successfully embedded in polymer nanoparticles and used as a luminescent label in bioimaging.  相似文献

The synthesis, structure, and photophysical and electrochemical properties of cyclometalated iridium complexes with ancillary cyano and isocyanide ligands are described. In the first synthetic step, cleavage of dichloro-bridged dimers [Ir(N=C)2(mu-Cl)]2 (N=C = 2-phenylpyridine, 2-(2-fluorophenyl)pyridine, and 2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)pyridine) by isocyanide ligands gave monomeric species of the types Ir(N=C)2(RNC)(Cl) (RNC = t-butyl isocyanide, 1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl isocyanide, 2-morpholinoethyl isocyanide, and 2,6-dimethylphenyl isocyanide). In turn, the chloride was replaced by cyanide giving Ir(N=C)2(RNC)(CN). The X-ray structures for two of the complexes show that the trans-pyridyl/cis-phenyl geometry of the parent dimer is preserved, with the ancillary ligands positioned trans to the cyclometalated phenyls. The cyano complexes all display strong blue photoluminescence in ambient, deoxygenated solutions with the first lambdamax ranging from 441 to 458 nm, quantum yields spanning 0.60 to 0.75, and luminescent lifetimes of 12.0-21.4 mus. A lack of solvatochromism and highly structured emission indicate that the lowest energy excited state is triplet ligand centered with some admixture of singlet metal-to-ligand charge-transfer character.  相似文献

We have developed a selective low-temperature synthesis of fac and mer tris-cyclometalated Ir(III) complexes. The chloro-bridged dimers [Ir(CwedgeN)2Cl]2 (CwedgeN = cyclometalating ligand) are cleaved in coordinating solvents like acetonitrile to give neutral Ir(CwedgeN)2(NCCH3)Cl species which in turn are reacted with AgPF6 to give hexafluorophosphate salts of the bis-acetonitrile species [Ir(CwedgeN)2(NCCH3)2]PF6 for CwedgeN = 2,2'-thienylpyridine (thpy) and 2-phenylpyridine (ppy). These bis-acetonitrile complexes are excellent starting materials for the synthesis of tris-Ir(III) complexes. The complexes of the general formula fac-Ir(CwedgeN)3 were synthesized with the ligands thpy and ppy at 100 degrees C in o-dichlorobenzene from the corresponding [Ir(CwedgeN)2(NCCH3)2]PF6 complexes. The reaction of [Ir(CwedgeN)2(NCCH3)2]PF6 with thpy at room temperature did not give the expected tris complex but instead gave [Ir(thpy)2(N,S-thpy)]PF6, with the third chelating ligand complexed through the sulfur atom of the thiophene ring. [Ir(thpy)2Cl]2, [Ir(ppy)2Cl]2, Ir(thpy)2(NCCH3)Cl, [Ir(thpy)2(NCCH3)2]PF6, [Ir(ppy)2(NCCH3)2]PF6, and [Ir(thpy)2(N,S-thpy)]PF6 were structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography. Additionally, hydroxy-bridged dimers, [Ir(CwedgeN)2(OH)]2, were synthesized as starting materials for the selective synthesis of mer-Ir(CwedgeN)3 complexes at 100 degrees C in o-dichlorobenzene. A mechanism is proposed that may account for the selectivity observed in the formation of the mer-Ir(CwedgeN)3 and fac-Ir(CwedgeN)3 isomers in previous studies and the studies presented here.  相似文献

Three new luminescent cyclometalated Pt(II) complexes, [Pt(L)Cl] (1), [Pt2(L-)2] (2), and [Pt(L)(PPh3)]ClO4 (3.ClO4) (where HL=2-phenyl-6-(1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-pyridine), were synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallography. HL represents a new class of C,N,Npyrazolyl cyclometalating ligands containing a Cphenyl, a Npyridyl, and a Npyrazolyl donor moiety, as well as a 1-pyrazolyl-NH, that can also be available for metal coordination and other chemical interactions. Complex 1 possesses intense intraligand transitions at 275-375 nm and moderately intense metal-to-ligand charge transfer (1MLCT) (dpi(Pt)-->pi*(L)) transition at 380-410 nm. The room temperature solid-state emission lambdamax of 1 occurs at 580 nm and is attributable to the 3MMLCT (dsigma*(Pt)-->pi*(L)) transition. It also displays strong phosphorescence in acetonitrile solutions at room temperature with an emission lambdamax at 514 nm, which can be tentatively assigned to the 3MLCT (pi*(L)-->dpi(Pt)) transition. Complex 1 can be deprotonated in organic solvents to yield a cycloplatinated dimer 2, which shows a relatively high room-temperature luminescent quantum yield of 0.59 in DMF (lambdamax=509 nm). Substitution of the ancillary chloro-ligand in 1 by triphenylphosphine yields 3, which also possesses a good room-temperature luminescent quantum yield of 0.52 in DMF (lambdamax=504 nm) and a better solubility in water. Complex 3 is synthesized to demonstrate the pH dependence of luminescent properties of this C,N,Npyrazolyl cyclometalated Pt(II) system. Such a pH response is ascribable to the protonation/deprotonation of the 1-pyrazolyl-NH on the C,N,Npyrazolyl cyclometalating ligand. The pKa of the 1-pyrazolyl-NH in 3, measured in 1:2 (v/v) aqueous DMF solutions, is approximately 4.0.  相似文献

[Ir(ppy)(2)(CN)(2)](-) (ppy = anion of 2-phenylpyridine) and some substituted derivatives have been investigated for their ability to interact with additional metal cations, both in solution and the solid state, via the externally-directed cyanide lone pairs, and to act as energy-donors in the resulting assemblies. [Ir(ppy)(2)(CN)(2)](-) is slightly solvatochromic, showing a blue-shift of the lowest energy absorption manifold in water compared to organic solvents, and the solubilised (t)Bu-substituted analogue [Ir((t)Buppy)(2)(CN)(2)](-) [(t)Buppy = anion of 2-(4-(t)Bu-phenyl)pyridine] is also metallochromic with coordination of the cyanide lone pairs to two M(II) cations in MeCN (M = Ba, Zn) resulting in blue-shifts of the lowest-energy absorption and emission maxima. These effects are however modest because of (i) the presence of only two cyanide groups, and (ii) the fact that the lowest-energy excited state has a substantial (3)LC component and is therefore not purely charge-transfer in nature. Crystallisation of [Ir(ppy)(2)(CN)(2)](-) as its (PPN)(+) salt in the presence of excess of lanthanide(III) salts leads to formation of assemblies based on Ir-CN-Ln bonds, which generate in the solid state either Ir(2)Ln(2)(μ-CN)(4) square assemblies or linear trinuclear species with Ir-CN-Ln-NC-Ir cores. In the Ir(2)Eu(2)(μ-CN)(4) and Ir(2)Nd(2)(μ-CN)(4) complexes the Ir-based emission is substantially quenched due to energy-transfer to lower-lying f-f states of these lanthanide ions. In addition reaction of [Ir(F(2)ppy)(2)(CN)(2)](-) [F(2)ppy = cyclometallating anion of 2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)pyridine] with [Re(phen)(CO)(3)(MeCN)][PF(6)] in solution affords dinuclear IrRe and trinuclear IrRe(2) species in which {Re(phen)(CO)(3)} units are attached to the N-donor termini of one or both of the cyanide groups; these complexes have been structurally characterised and display quantitative Ir→Re energy-transfer, showing luminescence only from the Re(I) terminus on excitation of the Ir(III) unit.  相似文献

We report a theoretical study on a series of heteroleptic cyclometalated Ir(III) complexes for OLED application. The geometries, electronic structures, and the lowest-lying singlet absorptions and triplet emissions of [(fppy)(2)Ir(III)(PPh(2)Np)] (1), and theoretically designed models [(fppy)(2)Ir(III)(PH(2)Np)] (2) and [(fppy)(2)Ir(III)Np](-)(3) were investigated with density functional theory (DFT)-based approaches, where, fppyH = 4-fluorophenyl-pyridine and NpH = naphthalene. The ground and excited states were, respectively, optimized at the M062X/LanL2DZ;6-31G* and CIS/LanL2DZ:6-31G* level of theory within CH(2)Cl(2) solution provided by PCM. The lowest absorptions and emissions were evaluated at M062X/Stuttgart;cc-pVTZ;cc-pVDZ level of theory. Though the lowest absorptions and emissions were all attributed as the ligand-based charge-transfer transition with slight metal-to-ligand charge-transfer transition character, the subtle differences in geometries and electronic structures result in the different quantum yields and versatile emission color. The newly designed molecular 3 is expected to be highly emissive in deep blue region.  相似文献

New Pt(II) dichloride complexes [Pt(1-iqdzH)Cl2] (2a) and [Pt(3-iqdzH)Cl2] (2b), in which idqzH = 1- or 3-isoquinolinyl indazole, were prepared by treatment of the corresponding indazoles with K2PtCl4 in aqueous HCl solution. Despite their nonemissive nature, these complexes could react with excess indazole, sodium picolinate, and 3-trifluoromethyl-5-(2-pyridyl) pyrazole [(fppz)H] to afford the respective a and b series of luminescent complexes [Pt(1-iqdz)(L/\X)] and [Pt(3-iqdz)(L/\X)], where L/\X = 1-iqdz (1a), 3-iqdz (1b), pic (3a, 3b), and fppz (4a, 4b). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies of 1b, 2a, and 3b revealed a planar molecular geometry without notable intermolecular Pt...Pt contact in the solid crystal, a result of the steric repulsion imposed by the bulky indazole fragments. For coordination complexes 1, 3, and 4, photoluminescence in degassed CH2Cl2 revealed high quantum efficiency and short radiative lifetimes in the range of several microseconds. As supported by the spectral feature, the associated radiation lifetimes, and a computational approach based on time-dependent density function theory (TD-DFT), the origin of the emission is attributed to a mixed 3MLCT/3pipi transition. The TD-DFT approach further confirmed that, except for the series 1 complexes, the HOMO of 3-iqdz complexes 3b and 4b is much less located at the central Pt(II) atom than the HOMO orbitals of the respective 1-iqdz complexes 3a and 4a, leading to a smaller degree of MLCT contribution. Consequently, there are a blue-shifted emission signal and an inferior emission quantum yield for the 3-iqdz derivatives. OLED devices with a multilayer configuration of ITO/NPB/CBP:3a/BCP/Alq3/LiF/Al were fabricated using a CBP layer doped with various concentrations of 3a, ranging from 6% to 100%, within the emitting layer. The best device performance was realized using a 6% doping concentration, for which the external quantum yield of 4.93%, luminous efficiency of 12.19 cd/A, and power efficiency of 6.12 lm W-1 were observed at 20 mA/cm2, while a maximum luminescence as high as 20296 cd/m2 was also realized at 16 V, showing good prospect for the fabrication of Pt(II) based OLEDs.  相似文献
