An alternative method for modulation of light generated by AlGaN/InGaN multiple quantum well laser with quartz antireflective (AR) coatings covering the resonator windows was modelled and studied theoretically. Disturbance of the piezoelectric coatings caused by surface acoustic waves (SAW) results in efficient intensity modulation of the laser beam. The model for the laser diode operating at DC demonstrates that the modulation factor can exceed 0.2 in sub-nanometer SAW displacement. For quarter-wave AR films, the carrier frequency of modulated beam has twice the frequency of SAW. 相似文献

In this paper, we investigate modulation transfer in an injection-locked diode laser when the master laser frequency or intensity is modulated. The modulation transfer properties of injection-locked diode lasers are shown to depend on frequency detuning between the master and slave lasers. This observation is of practical importance, since the laser frequencies are typically prone to ambient conditions. Also conversion of the master laser frequency modulation to slave laser intensity modulation is shown to be of importance if large frequency modulation amplitudes and small intensity modulation amplitudes of the master laser are used. On the other hand, the injection-locking technique is proved to be an effective way to suppress spurious intensity modulation in certain operational conditions. 相似文献

本文主要研究了调制探测激光场中铯Rydberg 原子阶梯型三能级系统的电磁感应透明(EIT) 效应. 铯原子基态6S1/2, 第一激发态6P3/2 和Rydberg 态形成阶梯型三能级系统, 探测光作用于6S1/2 (F = 4)→6P3/2(F' = 5) 的跃迁, 耦合光在Rydberg 跃迁线6P3/2→49S1/2 附近扫描, 形成Rydberg 原子EIT. 当对探测光频率施加一个几kHz 的调制时, 调制解调后的EIT 信号分裂为两个峰, 双峰间距与调制频率无关,而与调制幅度导致的失谐量大小(频率调制幅度) 成正比, 双峰间隔的一半等于探测光频率调制幅度的λp/λc = 1.67 倍. 实验结果与理论计算相一致. 本文的研究结果可应用于激光线型和频率抖动的实时监测. 相似文献

We demonstrate a new approach to coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) microscopy that significantly increases the detection sensitivity. CARS signals are generated by collinearly overlapped, tightly focused, and raster scanned pump and Stokes laser beams, whose difference frequency is rapidly modulated. The resulting amplitude modulation of the CARS signal is detected through a lock-in amplifier. This scheme efficiently suppresses the nonresonant background and allows for the detection of far fewer vibrational oscillators than possible through existing CARS microscopy methods. 相似文献

We have investigated the detailed operation of a frequency modulated dye laser (FML). The FML consists of a standing wave Rh6G dye laser with an intracavity transverse ADP phase modulator which is driven at a frequency close to the cavity mode spacing. An ideal FML output consists of a laser beam which is constant in amplitude but sinusoidally varying in frequency. This provides a source of many laser modes which are equally spaced by the modulation frequency. Several dye laser configurations have been investigated. Measurements of the mode intensities, total power, amplitude modulation and rf beat amplitudes have been made as a function of the rf driving frequency of the phase modulator. The FM laser obtained has been frequency stabilised by locking it to a reference interferometer and also by frequency offset locking it to a single-frequency dye laser. 相似文献

or phase modulated mode-locking fiber lasers, the proposed fiber laser is with a so-called Fourier domain mode locking (FDML)
operation (i.e., the cavity round-trip time of the optical pulse should match the period that the open time window of the
tunable filter appears for the lasing wavelength or its harmonics). An FDML pulse fiber laser with a cavity round-trip frequency
of 19.46 kHz is demonstrated and optical pulses with repetition rate of 19.46 kHz are achieved when the wavelength modulation

We are building a long-range FM/cw nonscanning imaging lidar breadboard. This lidar system achieves ranging based on a frequency
modulation/continuous wave (FM/cw) technique, implemented by an amplitude modulated mid-IR diode laser transmitter with a
linear frequency modulation (LFM) of the subcarrier. Firstly, various schemes of light beam modulation are analyzed. Secondly,
we put forward a laser modulation scheme whose core was formed by a 1.55 μm electro-absorption modulated laser diode (EML) and an erbium-doped optical fiber amplifier (EDFA), then a corresponding
experimental system architecture and components for light beam modulation and detection are established. Finally, a corresponding
experiment of laser beam modulation is completed for the first time. In our experiment, the EML amplitude is modulated by
a 200 MHz to 800 MHz LFM signal, whose amplitude value is 2.05 V. The average output power of the modulated laser obtained
in the experiment is 10 W, peak power is 16.4 W, and the average modulation depth is 78%. The results of tests predict that
this laser modulation scheme is likely to improve the imaging range of the FM/cw lidar. 相似文献

微片激光器由于自身的内应力会输出频率分裂的正交偏振的两个模式.研究了回馈对微片激光器频差的影响.研究发现:在回馈的作用下微片激光器的频差大小呈现出以初始频差为中心的类正弦的频差调制,周期为λ/2;频差调制曲线的幅度与回馈水平成正比,但是当回馈水平过强时会出现偏振态跳变,从而使频差消失;在一定的回馈外腔范围内,频差调制曲线的幅度与初始频差亦成正比.并利用复合腔模型和激光器的自洽理论进行了理论分析和模拟,所得结果与实验结果相符.此调制现象在精密测量领域有潜在应用. 相似文献

A pulsed, modulation frequency tunable, frequency-doubled Nd:YAG laser has been devised for use in target detection through turbid media. A modulated pulse laser radar system offers many advantages in target detection, such as significant signal contrast enhancement, compared with conventional remote-sensing systems. By implementation of the dual-longitudinal-mode seed injection technique, the modulation frequency of the designed Q-switched laser can be tuned from 250 MHz up to 60 GHz in steps of 250 MHz while maintaining a modulation depth of at least 75%. This provides the ability to explore propagation and scattering properties further at previously unattainable high RF modulation frequencies. 相似文献

The magnetically modulated saturation absorption profile is studied for a wide range of external DC magnetic field. The salient

A radio-over-fiber system uses light to carry a microwave subcarrier on optical fibers. The microwave is usually frequency modulated for wireless broadcasting. A conventional optical communication system usually operates at the baseband with amplitude modulation. The interface of the two systems thus needs an upconversion from the baseband to the microwave band with AM-to-FM transformation. An all-optical solution employing an optically injected semiconductor laser is investigated. The laser is operated in a dynamic state, where its intensity oscillates at a microwave frequency that varies with the injection strength. When the injection carries AM data, the microwave is frequency modulated accordingly. We demonstrate optical conversion from an OC-12 622-Mbps AM baseband signal to the corresponding FM microwave signal. The microwave is centered at 15.90 GHz. A bit-error rate of less than 10(-9) is measured. 相似文献

We investigate modulation transfer through pump induced atomic coherence in pump-probe spectroscopy of Doppler broadened medium
of cesium atoms. The mechanism of modulation transfer is discussed for a three level Λ configuration under slow frequency modulation. Modulation transfer is demonstrated by performing frequency modulation spectroscopy
(FMS) on a sub-natural linewidth (<2 MHz) electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) signal. Here the pump laser is modulated by acousto-optic frequency
modulation and the modulation is transferred to the probe laser through atomic coherence. Finally the probe laser is locked
on the first derivative spectrum of EIT signal. Such atomic frequency offset locking system totally removes the necessity
of direct modulation of laser frequency, so that the spectral resolution is limited only by the practical linewidth of the
laser systems. Moreover it provides a novel way to eliminate the additional
frequency and intensity noise associated with direct frequency dithering, which may limit the experimental resolution. 相似文献

The quantum modulation of an electron beam in the field of opposite electromagnetic waves, at a frequency equal to the difference of the wave frequencies, and its harmonics, is obtained. The depth of the modulation becomes of order one at relatively small intensities of the laser fields (including a real spreading of the beam). In the case of equal frequencies of the waves (when the Kapitza-Dirac effect occurs particles form a beam. An experiment for obtaining a modulated beam of particles at the frequencies of the laser radiation, and its harmonics, as well as for bunching of particles in the field of a standing wave is suggested. 相似文献
