Miscibility characteristics of poly[2‐hydroxyethylmethacrylate] (PHEMA) and poly[ethylene oxide] (PEO) have been investigated by solution viscometry, ultrasonic and differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) methods. The interaction parameters were obtained using the viscosity data. Ultrasonic velocity and adiabatic compressibility vs. blend composition have been plotted and are found to be linear. A single glass transition temperature was observed by differential scanning calorimetry. Variation of glass transition temperature (Tg) with composition follows Garden‐Taylor equation. Tg values have also been calculated from the Fox equation. The results obtained reveal that PHEMA forms a miscible blend with PEO in the entire composition range.  相似文献

The triblock copolymer poly(methyl methacrylate-b-lauryl methacrylate-b-methyl methacrylate) {P(MMA-b-LMA-b-MMA)} has been synthesized by a two stage atom transfer radical polymerization in bulk at near room temperature (ca. 35 °C) using CuCl/pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (PMDETA)/tricaprylylmethylammonium chloride (Aliquat®336) complex as the catalyst and 1,2-bis (bromoisobutyryloxy)ethane (BIBE) as the initiator for the polymerization of LMA in the first stage. The same catalyst was also used for the polymerization of MMA in the second stage. The dynamic mechanical thermal analysis of a sample with the middle block Mn = 82000 and each end block Mn = 14500 showed typical features of a thermoplastic elastomer.  相似文献

Nanoscale poly(cyclohexyl methacrylate) (PCHMA) particles were prepared by a modified microemulsion polymerization procedure. 13C‐NMR analysis suggested that such PCHMA samples were higher in syndiotactic content (61–72% rr) and lower in isotactic content (1–3% mm). The glass transition temperatures (Tg's) of the products were also higher than that reported in the literature. The polymer properties, such as particle size, molecular weight, tacticity, and Tg were affected by the reaction conditions. The smaller the particle size, the higher the syndiotacticity, the lower the isotacticity and the greater the molecular weight, then the higher the Tg of the PCHMA samples. Possible mechanism of rich‐syndiotacticity was also discussed.  相似文献

The synthesis of poly[(methyl methacrylate‐co‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate)‐b‐isobutylene‐b‐(methyl methacrylate‐co‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate)] P(MMA‐co‐HEMA)‐b‐PIB‐b‐P(MMA‐co‐HEMA) triblock copolymers with different HEMA/MMA ratios has been accomplished by the combination of living cationic and anionic polymerizations. P(MMA‐co‐HEMA)‐b‐PIB‐b‐P(MMA‐co‐HEMA) triblock copolymers with different compositions were prepared by a synthetic methodology involving the transformation from living cationic to anionic polymerization. First, 1,1‐diphenylethylene end‐functionalized PIB (DPE‐PIB‐DPE) was prepared by the reaction of living difunctional PIB and 1,4‐bis(1‐phenylethenyl)benzene (PDDPE), followed by the methylation of the resulting diphenyl carbenium ion with dimethylzinc (Zn(CH3)2). The DPE ends were quantitatively metalated with n‐butyllithium in tetrahydrofuran, and the resulting macroanion initiated the polymerization of methacrylates yielding triblock copolymers with high blocking efficiency. Microphase separation of the thus prepared triblock copolymers was evidenced by the two glass transitions at ?64 and +120°C observed by differential scanning calorimetry. These new block copolymers exhibit typical stress‐strain behavior of thermoplastic elastomers. Surface characterization of the samples was accomplished by angle‐resolved X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), which revealed that the surface is richer in PIB compared to the bulk. However, a substantial amount of P(MMA‐co‐HEMA) remains at the surface. The presence of hydroxyl functionality at the surface provides an opportunity for further modification.  相似文献

Poly(oxyethylene methacrylate)–poly(4-vinyl pyridine) (POEM–P4VP) comb-like copolymers with 3:7, 5:5, and 6:4 wt ratio were synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization and confirmed by 1H-NMR and FT-IR spectroscopy. The copolymers were quaternized with 1-iodopropane to convert the pyridine groups into pyridinium ions, i.e., POEM–qP4VP. Transmission electron microscopy showed that strongly segregated microphase separation in POEM–P4VP was less prominent upon quaternization due to interactions between the ether oxygens of POEM and the quaternized pyridine groups of qP4VP, as confirmed by FT-IR spectroscopy. The energy conversion efficiencies of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) with quaternized polymer electrolytes were always greater than those with pristine electrolytes due to greater ionic conductivity and concentrations of free iodide ions. The maximum energy conversion efficiency of a DSSC employing POEM–qP4VP electrolyte reached 3.0% at 100 mW/cm2 when a 6:4 wt.% of POEM–qP4VP was used.  相似文献

Different amounts of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) were grafted onto corn starch dispersed in water or dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) to yield starch-graft-poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (ST-g-PGMA). ST-g-PGMAW, obtained by grafting PGMA onto corn starch that was dispersed in water, showed a higher PGMA grafting content and a lower content of the homopolymerized PGMA than ST-g-PGMAD, which was prepared in DMSO. The modified starches were blended with poly(ϵ-caprolactone) (PCL) and nylon 610, respectively, and the tensile properties of the blends were measured by UTM. Mechanical properties of the biodegradable ST-g-PGMA/PCL blends were dependent on the PGMAD content grafted on starch. Without dramatic loss of the tensile properties of PCL, ST-g-PGMAW was melt blended with PCL. Meanwhile, an increase in the tensile modulus was observed in the ST-g-PGMAW/nylon 610 blend. When nylon 610 was reacted with ST-g-PGMAW in DMSO in the presence of triethylamine, the tensile modulus and strength were much higher than those of the pure nylon 610, and phase-separated domains of starch were not observed microscopically.  相似文献

The use of the reverse atom transfer radical polymerization (RATRP) to end-functionalize poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) with fullerenes, e.g. C60 and C70 was described in this paper. The Cl-terrninated PMMA was prepared via RATRP with designed molecular weight and narrow molecular weight distributions, and then directly used to react with fullerenes to produce C60(C70) terminated PMMA polymers in the presence of CuBr/Cu/bipy or FeCl2/bipy catalysts. The resultant polymers exhibit good solubility in some common organic solvents, e.g. THF, CHCl3 and toluene, and were well structurally characterized by a variety of physical techniques.  相似文献

A one-handed 310-helical hexapeptide is efficiently encapsulated within the helical cavity of st-PMMA when a fullerene (C60) derivative is introduced at the C-terminal end of the peptide. The encapsulation is accompanied by induction of a preferred-handed helical conformation in the st-PMMA backbone with the same-handedness as that of the hexapeptide to form a crystalline st-PMMA/peptide-C60 inclusion complex with a unique optically active helix-in-helix structure. Although the st-PMMA is unable to encapsulate the 310-helical peptide without the terminal C60 unit, the helical hollow space of the st-PMMA is almost filled by the C60-bound peptides. This result suggests that the C60 moiety can serve as a versatile molecular carrier of specific molecules and polymers in the helical cavity of the st-PMMA for the formation of an inclusion complex, thus producing unique supramolecular soft materials that cannot be prepared by other methods.  相似文献

Homogeneous blends of poly(L-lactide) (M n = 30 000 to 40 000) and poly(β-propiolactone) or poly(ε-caprolactone) were prepared in solution. The solvent-free blends were subjected to transesterification catalyzed by means of methyl triflate, triflic acid, boron trifluoride, or tributyltin methoxide at 100 or 150°C. At 100°C, transesterification was barely detectable even after 96 h. When poly(β-propiolactone) was used as the reactant at 150°C, degradation was faster than transesterification regardless of the catalyst. The same negative result was obtained for heterogeneous blends of poly(L-lactide) and poly(glycolide). In the case of poly(ε-caprolactone), copolyesters with slightly blocky sequences were obtained with tributyltin methoxide as catalyst, whereas the acidic catalysts caused rapid degradation. The copolyesters were characterized by means of 1H-NMR spectroscopy with regard to their molar composition, by means of 13C-NMR spectroscopy with regard to their sequences, and by means of differential scanning calorimetry with regard to crystallinity.  相似文献

The grafting of 3‐(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate (TMSPM) onto chitosan by ceric ion initiation was studied under homogeneous conditions in 2% acetic acid solution. The grafted polymer was characterized by FT‐IR, 1H‐NMR, TGA and XRD and swelling studies. TGA results showed that the incorporation of TMSPM to the chitosan chains decreased the thermal stability of the grafted chitosan. Due to the grafting of TMSPM, the crystallinity of chitosan derivatives was found to be destroyed. The solubility of the grafted chitosan in water was improved. The effects of reaction conditions such as initiator concentration, monomer concentration, reaction temperature and reaction time were studied by determining the grafting parameters such as grafting and grafting efficiency. Under optimum conditions, the grafting parameters were achieved as 1440 and 97%, respectively.  相似文献

The effect of nanoclay on the phase-separation behavior of poly(methyl methacrylate)/poly(vinyl acetate)(PMMA/PVAc) blends has been mainly investigated by small-angle laser light scattering. It is found that the effect of clay on the thermodynamics and kinetics of phase-separation for PMMA/PVAc blends seems inconsistent. The kinetics phaseseparation rate decreases, while the thermodynamics parameters, cloud points Tc and delay time tD of isothermal phaseseparation also decrease, and the variation amplitude depends on the matrix composition. The affinity of clay to PMMA results in the composition difference between the border layer and the polymer matrix and further causes the concentration fluctuation at the early stage of phase separation to reduce Tc and tD. On the other hand, the decrease of phase-separation rate is caused by the mechanical barrier effect of clay on the macromolecular diffusion of blend matrix. Hence, such seemingly counterintuitive results on the thermodynamics and kinetics of phase-separation are attributed to different dominant factors.  相似文献
