A direct product decomposition is given for the multiplicative semigroup of a finite near integral domain in terms of the subsemigroup of left identities and a group of automorphisms on the additive group of the domain. Conditions are given which insure that every element will have a uniquen-th root. If there existsx≠0 such that (?x)y=?(xy), for eachy, then the additive group of the near integral domain is abelian. Other conditions sufficient for the commutativity of the additive group are given. An example illustrates that non-isomorphic finite near integral domains can have a left ideal decomposition into Sylow subgroups which are isomorphic as near-rings. Another example shows that an infinite near integral domain need not have a nilpotent additive group, even in the d. g. case. It is conjectured that for each natural numbern there is a near integral domain whose additive group is of nilpotent classn.  相似文献

Near rings without zero divisors, and a dual structure, near codomains, are studied. It is shown that a near ring is a near field if and only if it is an integral near ring, a near codomain, and has a non-zero distributive element. If the additive group (N, +) of a near integral domainN is cohopfian, then (N, +) possesses a fixed point free automorphism which is either torsion free or of prime order. This generalizes a well-known theorem of Ligh for finite near integral domains. A result ofGanesan [1] on the non-zero divisors in a finite ring is generalized to near rings.  相似文献

Summary The following topics are considered: saturated chains of prime ideals in quadratic (resp., simple, local, and level) integral extension domains of a local domain R; the heights of a prime ideal and its contraction in integral extension domains of R; and, the nonexistence of intermediate rings between R and finite integral extension domains of R that are minimal with spect to having certain properties.Research on this paper was supported in part by the National Science Foundation, Grant MCS 8001597.  相似文献

We introduce a special harmoniousness called symmetric harmoniousness of groups and extend the R*-sequenceability of abelian groups to nonabelian groups. We prove that the direct product of an R*-sequenceable group of even order with a symmetric harmonious group of odd order is R*-sequenceable. Examples of nonabelian R*-sequenceable groups and nonabelian symmetric harmonious groups are given. It is shown that the nonabelian groups of order 3q (q prime) are symmetric harmonious. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

In this paper, we complete the classification of those finite 3-groups G whose integral group rings have the multiplicative Jordan decomposition property. If G is abelian, then it is clear that ?[G] satisfies the multiplicative Jordan decomposition (MJD). In the nonabelian case, we show that ?[G] satisfies MJD if and only if G is one of the two nonabelian groups of order 33 = 27.  相似文献

In this paper the first infinite series of translation nets with nonabelian translation groups and a large number of parallel classes are constructed. For that purpose we investigate partial congruence partitions (PCPs) with at least one normal component. Two series correspond to partial congruence partitions containing one normal elementary abelian component. The construction results by using some basic facts about the first cohomology group of the translation group G regarded as an extension of the normal component which itself is a group of central translations. The other series correspond to partial congruence partitions containing two normal nonabelian components. The constructions are based on the well known automorphism method which leads to so-called splitting translation nets. By investigating the Suzuki groups Sz(q), the protective unitary groups PSU(3, q 2) and the Ree groups R(q) as doubly transitive permutation groups, we obtain examples of nonabelian groups admitting a large number of pairwise orthogonal fixed-point-free group automorphisms.  相似文献

1. Notations and Basic ResultsLet G be a finite nonabelian group. Then frs(G/G') is an abelian group under themultiplication of characters and acts on the set of non-linear irreducible characters of G viathe multiplication of characters. The purpose of this paper is to investigate this action. Asan application of our theoryl in the end of Section 3 we give the classification of groupshaving exactly three non-linear irreducible caracters. All groups in the paper are finite. In this paper we develop a theory for computing the nonabelian tensor square and related computations for finitely presented groups and specialize it to polycyclic groups. This theory provides a framework for making nonabelian tensor square computations for polycyclic groups and is the basis of an algorithm for computing the nonabelian tensor square for any polycyclic group.  相似文献

An integral domain D is a FC domain if for all a, b in D, aDbD is finitely generated. Using a set of very general and useful lemmas, we show that an integrally closed FC domain is a Prüfer v-multiplication domain (PVMD). We use this result to improve some results which were originally proved for integrally closed FC domains (or for coherent domains) to results on PVMD's. Finally we provide examples of integrally closed integral domains which are not FC domains.  相似文献

We prove that the exponent of the nonabelian tensor product of two locally finite groups can be bounded in terms of exponents of given groups. Several estimates for the exponents of nonabelian tensor squares are obtained. In particular, if the group G is nilpotent of class ≤3 and of finite exponent, then the exponent of its nonabelian tensor square divides the exponent of G.  相似文献

In their article, “On the derived subgroup of the free nilpotent groups of finite rank” R. D. Blyth, P. Moravec, and R. F. Morse describe the structure of the derived subgroup of a free nilpotent group of finite rank n as a direct product of a nonabelian group and a free abelian group, each with a minimal generating set of cardinality that is a given function of n. They apply this result to computing the nonabelian tensor squares of the free nilpotent groups of finite rank. We generalize their main result to investigate the structure of the other terms of the lower central series of a free nilpotent group of finite rank, each again described as a direct product of a nonabelian group and a free abelian group. In order to compute the ranks of the free abelian components and the size of minimal generating sets for the nonabelian components we introduce what we call weight partitions.  相似文献

One of the remarkable contributions in the study of symmetric Cayley graphs on nonabelian simple groups is the complete classification of such graphs that are cubic and nonnormal. This naturally motivates the study of cubic (normal and nonnormal) symmetric bi-Cayley graphs on nonabelian simple groups. In this paper, the full automorphism groups of these graphs are determined, and necessary and sufficient conditions are given for a graph being a cubic normal symmetric Cayley or bi-Cayley graph on a nonabelian simple group (one may then find many examples). As an application, we also prove that cubic symmetric Cayley graphs on nonabelian simple groups are stable.  相似文献

We study the class of integrally closed domains having a unique Kronecker function ring, or equivalently, domains in which the completion (or b-operation) is the only e.a.b star operation of finite type. Such domains are a generalization of Prüfer domains and have fairly simple sets of valuation overrings. We give characterizations by studying valuation overrings and integral closure of finitely generated ideals. We provide new examples of such domains and show that for several well-known classes of integral domains the property of having a unique Kronecker function ring makes them fall into the class of Prüfer domains.  相似文献

All instances of coincidence between the prime graphs of nonabelian simple groups G and S are found, where G is an alternating group of degree n ≥ 5 and S is a nonabelian finite simple group. The precise bound of the maximal number of pairwise nonisomorphic nonabelian simple groups with the same prime graph is given in the case that one of these groups is an alternating group.  相似文献

We prove that a finite group, having the same set of element orders as a finite simple group L and the prime graph with at least three connected components, possesses a (unique) nonabelian composition factor which is isomorphic to L, unless L is isomorphic to the alternating group of degree 6.  相似文献

It is natural to ask when a group has a planar Hasse lattice or more generally when its subgroup graph is planar. In this paper, we completely answer this question for finite groups. We analyze abelian groups, p-groups, solvable groups, and nonsolvable groups in turn. We find seven infinite families (four depending on two parameters, one on three, two on four), and three “sporadic” groups. In particular, we show that no nonabelian group whose order has three distinct prime factors can be planar.  相似文献

Let M be an n-dimensional simply connected Hadamard manifold with Ricci curvature satisfying and be a bounded domain having smooth boundary. In this paper, we prove that the first n nonzero Neumann eigenvalues of the Laplacian on Ω satisfy , where is a computable constant depending only on and , Ω being the volume of Ω. This result generalizes the corresponding estimate for bounded domains in a Euclidean space obtained recently by M. S. Ashbaugh and R. D. Benguria.

An integral domain R is a generalized GCD (GGCD) domain if the semigroup of invertible ideals of R is closed under intersection. In this article we extend the definition of PF-prime ideals to GGCD domains and develop a theory of these ideals which allows us to characterize Prüfer and π -domains among GGCD domains. We also introduce the concept of generalized GCD modules as a natural generalization of GGCD domains to the module case. An R-module M is a GGCD module if the set of invertible submodules of M is closed under intersection. We show that an integral domain R is a GGCD domain if and only if a faithful multiplication R-module M is a GGCD module. Various properties and characterizations of faithful multiplication GGCD modules over integral domains are considered and consequently, necessary and sufficient conditions for a ring R(M), the idealization of M, to be a GGCD ring are given.  相似文献
