To understand the nature of grain boundaries in polycrystalline materials, magneto-transport and ferromagnetic resonance measurement have been performed in polycrystalline La0.6Pb0.4MnO3 (LPMO) thin films prepared by pulsed laser deposition. Films are found to undergo a semiconductor to metal transition at 230 K and re-enter into the semiconducting state below 130 K. Microwave absorption measurements carried out as function of applied field show two components of resonant absorption signal. First component is in accordance with ferromagnetic transition of grains at Curie temperature and the second component shows antiferromagnetic transition of grain boundaries at 160 K. An additional non-resonant absorption signal centered at zero field has also been observed that supports transition from conducting to insulating grain boundaries at ∼160 K. Further, temperature dependence of resistance in semiconducting state at low temperatures is in accordance with coulomb blockade model indicating insulating nature of AFM grain boundaries.  相似文献

We have investigated magnetoresistance (MR) and electroresistance (ER) of well characterized La0.6Pb0.4MnO3 (LPMO) films having two different crystallinity (i) (00l) oriented single-crystalline, SC, i.e. without any grain boundaries, and (ii) nanocrystalline, NC, with an average grain size of 17 nm. Both MR and ER were remarkably different for the two films, that is, (i) NC films exhibited a highest MR of ∼100% near the metal-insulator transition temperature; while for SC films the MR was in the range of 40-60%, (ii) NC films exhibited a finite ER, which increased monotonically with decreasing temperature; while in SC films ER was completely absent. Using current-voltage characteristic and ferromagnetic resonance studies we demonstrate that both enhanced MR and ER in NC films are extrinsic in nature and originate due to the presence of spin glassy grain boundaries.  相似文献

We have used photoelectron emission microscopy (PEEM) and X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) to study the effect of thin film thickness on the magnetic domain formation in La0.6Sr0.4MnO3 samples that were epitaxially grown on stepped SrTiO3 (0 0 1) substrates. The magnetic image exhibited a stripe structure elongated along the step direction, irrespective of film thickness, suggesting that uniaxial magnetic anisotropy induced by step-and-terrace structures plays an important role in the magnetic domain formation. Additional domains evolved gradually with increasing film thickness. In these domains, the direction of magnetization differed from the step direction due to biaxial magneto-crystalline anisotropy. The evolution of additional magnetic domains with increasing film thickness implies that a competition exists between the two anisotropies in LSMO films.  相似文献

In this work carbonyl iron/La0.6Sr0.4MnO3 composites were prepared to develop super-thin microwave absorbing materials. The complex permittivity, permeability and microwave absorption properties are investigated in the frequency range of 8-12 GHz. An optimal reflection loss of −12.4 dB is reached at 10.5 GHz with a matching thickness of 0.8 mm. The thickness of carbonyl iron/La0.6Sr0.4MnO3 absorber is thinner, compared with conventional carbonyl iron powders with the same absorption properties. The bandwidth with a reflection loss exceeding −7.4 dB is obtained in the whole measured frequency range with the thickness of 0.8 mm. The excellent microwave absorption properties are attributed to a better electromagnetic matching established by the combination of the enhanced dielectric loss and nearly invariable magnetic loss with the addition of La0.6Sr0.4MnO3 nanoparticles in the composites. Our work indicates that carbonyl iron/La0.6Sr0.4MnO3 composites may have an important application in wide-band and super-thin electromagnetic absorbers in the frequency range of 8−12 GHz.  相似文献

The A-site disorder effects on the stability of charge-ordered state in electron-doped manganite R0.4A0.6MnO3 (where R = La, Pr, Nd, Sm, and A = Ca, Sr, Ba) are investigated by detailed measurements of transport, magnetism, and specific heat. The robust charge-ordered phase within the prototype sample can be successively suppressed by enhancing the A-site disorder, and finally an atomic-scale spin-glass state is evidenced in the highest disordered sample. However, no ferromagnetic phase can be observed; even the long-range charge-ordered antiferromagnetic phase is fully suppressed, which can be associated with the insufficient e g electron density in such an electron-doped manganite. This revealing is helpful for understanding the origin of ferromagnetic phase in nano-sized or B-site doped charge-ordered manganites with small e g electron density.  相似文献

The microstructure and electrical properties of Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 thin films have been investigated. Nanometer-sized domains, ranging from 8 to about 30 nm, were observed by piezoresponse force microscopy (PFM). The critical size, below which only single domains exist, is found to be about 31 nm. The film exhibits ferroelectric behavior characterized by polarization hysteresis loop and capacitance-voltage curve.  相似文献

Thickness dependent modifications in the structure and microstructure and their effect on the transport and magnetotransport in chemical solution deposition (CSD) grown La0.7Pb0.3MnO3 (LPMO) manganite thin films grown on single crystalline LaAlO3 (LAO) (1 0 0) substrates have been studied. X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements show the reduction in the microstrain at the film-substrate interface with increasing thickness. Increase in grain size and island like grain growth with the reduction in surface roughness as a function of film thickness has been observed from the microstructural studies using atomic force microscopy (AFM) and lateral force microscopy (LFM) measurements. Improvement in the surface to volume ratio (D−1) resulting in the modifications in transport and magnetotransport properties of the LPMO films has been discussed in detail in the light of thickness dependent microstructural effects on the resistivity and magnetoresistance (MR) behavior. The variations in intrinsic and extrinsic MR with D−1 show an interesting interplay between them, which can be explained on the basis of thickness dependent grain size, grain boundary density and grain boundary nature.  相似文献

Grain size effects on magnetic and transport properties for heavily Sr-doped A-type antiferromagnetic La0.4Sr0.6MnO3 ceramics were studied. It was observed that with decrease in grain size, surface ferromagnetism could be introduced due to bond-breaking at surfaces. With decrease in grain size, the surface ferromagnetism was enhanced, and the phase transition order distinguished from the Arrott plot was a second one. The surface-induced ferromagnetism was insulating as judged from transport properties. With decrease in grain size, magnetoresistance was largely improved for both high magnetic and low magnetic fields. Under a 500 Oe magnetic field, the magnetoresistance is improved from 0.2%, 0.1%, 0.03% and 0.02% for the sample with grain size of 150 nm at 10, 100, 200 and 300 K, respectively, to 3%, 2.3%, 0.43% and 0.12% for the sample with grain size of 20 nm at 10, 100, 200 and 300 K. It was interesting to find that large magnetoresistance could be induced due to the surface ferromagnetism in A-type antiferromagnetic La0.4Sr0.6MnO3 nanoparticles, which suggested that it was possible to search for manganites with relatively high low-field magnetoresistance in nanostructured A-type antiferromagnetic materials.  相似文献

La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 polycrystalline manganite thin films were grown on silicon (Si) substrates covered by SiOx amorphous native oxide. Curie temperatures of about 325 K were achieved for 70-nm-thick films. Strong room temperature XMCD signal was detected indicating high spin polarization at the surface. Cross-sectional TEM images show sharp interface between SiOx and manganite without signature of chemical reaction at the interface. Unusual sharp splitting of the manganite film was observed: on the top of a transition layer characterized by low crystalline order, a magnetically robust layer is formed.  相似文献

Following the double metal-insulator peaks found in series of perovskite manganites La0.7−xPrxPb0.3MnO3 (x=0, 0.05, 0.1), the magnetic entropy change of La0.6Pr0.1Pb0.3MnO3 was carefully investigated as a representative. The maximum magnetic entropy change (ΔSH=−1.7 J/kg K at 300 K) and the expanded refrigerant capacity (about 123.8 J/kg) had been obtained under 10 kOe magnetic field variation, though the double peak of maximum magnetic entropy change had not occurred since the comparative faint magnetic signal from the Pr ions inhomogeneity existed in the octahedral frame submerged in the strong magnetic signal originated from the dominating octahedral frame both in the double exchange mechanism, but the width at half maximum in the magnetic entropy change comparatively broadened.  相似文献

研究了Fe和Cr掺杂对La0.4Ca0.6MnO3 中电荷有序反铁磁基态的调控作用. 磁性质的测量结果表明, 两种离子掺杂均能有效抑制原型样品中的长程电荷有序相, 但是Fe离子掺杂样品均具有反铁磁的基态, 而Cr掺杂样品中则出现了显著的铁磁性. 结合电输运测量结果显示, Cr掺杂引起的铁磁态同时具有金属性, 表明其中是电子双交换作用占主导. 对比两种掺杂离子的电子结构发现, Cr离子空的eg电子轨道促进了电子双交换作用, 而Fe掺杂则只是引入了不同的自旋交换作用, 导致自旋无序. 关键词: 磁性氧化物 反铁磁  相似文献

Evaporated TbCu0.6Al0.4 thin films with different thicknesses, ranging from 26 to 100 nm, were prepared on a glass substrate. The complex refractive index of thin films has been determined for the first time from the measurements of reflectance, R, and transmittance, T, at almost normal incidence in the spectral range of 400–2200 nm. Some micro-characteristics of TbCu0.6Al0.4 alloy including free charge concentration, nc, the relaxation time, τ, the static conductivity, σ, and the electron velocity at the Fermi surface, VF, have been evaluated using the simplified Drude model.  相似文献

Mechanochemical route has been used to produce La0.8Pb0.2MnO3 (LPMO) nanocrystalline samples from oxide precursors. The samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope and AC susceptibility measurements. The results showed that it is possible to produce LPMO perovskite powders after 10 h of ball milling. The crystallite size and microstrain were estimated using Williamson-Hall equation. The results showed that the crystallite size and microstrain increase initially and then decrease by the increase of milling time. By decreasing particle size the dislocation density (strain) increases and reaches to a saturation point at a particular particle size, further particle size reduction takes place through gliding motion along grain boundaries, which leads to a reduction of the strain. The dynamic properties of 15 h ball-milled sample were investigated by AC susceptibility using the Neel-Brown and Vogel-Fulcher law for superparamagnetism. The frequency dependence of blocking temperature is well described by the Vogel-Fulcher law, and fitting the experimental data with Neel-Brown law gives unphysical value for relaxation time.  相似文献

利用脉冲激光沉积技术在LaAlO3(00l)单晶衬底上制备了La067Ba033MnO3薄膜,研究了CO2激光辐照对La067Ba033MnO3薄膜的微结构和磁电性能的影响.结果表明,经激光辐照后,La067Ba033MnO3薄膜的结晶性增强,薄膜应变减小;薄膜表面形貌由“岛状”结构变为“平原"结构,且粗糙度大大降低;同时,薄膜的饱和磁化强度、铁磁居里温度、金属—绝缘态转变温度和磁电阻增大,而矫顽场和电阻率减小.根据对传统退火效应的分析和理论计算,认为激光辐照导致的表面微结构的变化以及薄膜的氧含量和均匀性的提高对La067Ba033MnO3薄膜的磁电性能的改善与优化密切相关. 关键词: 庞磁电阻 激光辐照 脉冲激光溅射沉积  相似文献
