It is found that secondary electrons ejected (by incident 1 keV electrons) from an oxidized europium layer, which is at about 20 K in a magnetic field of 1.5 T, show longitudinal spin polarization. The maximum value observed in first experiments is 32 per cent.  相似文献

The magnetic field and density behaviors of various thermodynamic quantities of strange quark matter under compact star conditions are investigated in the framework of the thermodynamically self-consistent quasiparticle model. For individual species, a larger number density \begin{document}$ n_i $\end{document} leads to a larger magnetic field strength threshold that aligns all particles parallel or antiparallel to the magnetic field. Accordingly, in contrast to the finite baryon density effect which reduces the spin polarization of magnetized strange quark matter, the magnetic field effect leads to an enhancement of it. We also compute the sound velocity as a function of the baryon density and find the sound velocity shows an obvious oscillation with increasing density. Except for the oscillation, the sound velocity grows with increasing density, similar to the zero-magnetic field case, and approaches the conformal limit \begin{document}$ V_s^2=1/3 $\end{document} at high densities from below.  相似文献

From hyperfine interaction studles on free single electron16O(3) ions. in a time differential mode using the recoil distance technique. It is shown that these ions are polarized when emerging from magnetized thin layers of Fe. We study a scheme for electrical detection of the spin resonance of a single-electron trapped near a field effect transistor (FET) conduction channel. In this scheme, the resonant Rabi oscillations of the trapped electron spin cause a modification of the average charge of a shallow trap, which can be detected through the change in the FET channel resistivity. We show that the dependence of the channel resistivity on the frequency of the rf field can have either peak or dip at the Larmor frequency of the electron spin in the trap.  相似文献

Through detailed experimental studies of the angular dependence of spin wave excitations in nanocontact-based spin-torque oscillators, we demonstrate that two distinct spin wave modes can be excited, with different frequency, threshold currents, and frequency tunability. Using analytical theory and micromagnetic simulations we identify one mode as an exchange-dominated propagating spin wave, and the other as a self-localized nonlinear spin wave bullet. Wavelet-based analysis of the simulations indicates that the apparent simultaneous excitation of both modes results from rapid mode hopping induced by the Oersted field.  相似文献

In the atmospheric plasma of a strongly magnetized neutron star, vacuum polarization can induce a Mikheyev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein type resonance across which an x-ray photon may (depending on its energy) convert from one mode into the other, with significant changes in opacities and polarizations. We show that this vacuum resonance effect gives rise to a unique energy-dependent polarization signature in the surface emission from neutron stars. The detection of polarized x rays from neutron stars can provide a direct probe of strong-field quantum electrodynamics and constrain the neutron star magnetic field and geometry.  相似文献

It is demonstrated that the problem of determining the parameters of trajectories of spin particles and beam of rays in the case of radiation with allowance for polarization is reduced to a variational problem with higher derivatives. It is demonstrated that in the limit of small values of the curvature and torsion, the higher derivatives can be expressed through the parameters of the medium. In this case, the curvature and torsion together with the polarization projection onto the trajectory determine an analog of the 4-potential which in its turn specifies an analog of the electromagnetic field tensor where the projection of polarization onto the trajectory plays the role of charge for a charged particle. It is demonstrated that the Magnus optical effect for dissipative solitons is determined not only by helicity σ, but also by topological index m (by the projection of the orbital soliton momentum onto the soliton trajectory). In an inhomogeneous medium, a relationship between the Magnus optical effect and nonholonomicity of the field of unit vectors tangent to the trajectory is established.  相似文献

It is shown that the symmetry of single-electron Hamiltonians, used traditionally in computations of the band structure of magnetically ordered crystals, is described completely by spin space groups for which independent transformations of the magnetic moment and lattice are allowable, to taking account of the spin-orbit interaction which yields a contribution to the energy of the magnetic anisotropy, the symmetry of the Hamiltonian is de scribed by a magnetic group, which is a subgroup of the spin space group. 强激光与等离子体之间相互作用,能够产生各种参量不稳定性过程和非线性效应。利用Karpman方法推导出横场包络所满足的非线性控制性方程,在一维情况下,获得孤波解。对孤波解进行分析,发现波包孤子的半宽反比于振幅;分析磁化等离子体中各参量对孤波半宽的影响。结果表明,在右旋圆偏振激光情况下,随着电子数密度的增大,孤波的半宽逐渐减小,而当磁场强度增大时,孤波的半宽逐渐增大;在左旋圆偏振激光情况下,随着电子数密度的增大,孤波的半宽逐渐增大,而当磁场强度增大时,孤波的半宽逐渐减小。  相似文献

A proof-of-principle experiment demonstrates the generation of radiation from the Cherenkov wake excited by an ultrashort- and ultrahigh-power pulse laser in a perpendicularly magnetized plasma. The frequency of the radiation is in the millimeter range (up to 200 GHz). The intensity of the radiation is proportional to the magnetic field intensity as expected by theory. Polarization of the emitted radiation is also detected. The difference in the frequency of the emitted radiation between these experiments and previous theory can be explained by the electrons' oscillation in the electric field of a narrow column of ions in the focal region.  相似文献

It is shown that, by utilizing spin-selective quantum interference, the spin polarization of nanostructures deposited on a magnetic substrate with a surface state can be strongly modulated locally and energetically by an appropriate structural design. This finding is deduced from state-of-the-art ab initio calculations and interpreted within an analytical model. We present results for hexagonal Cu corrals and mesoscopic triangular Co islands on Co-covered Cu(111). These systems are experimentally feasible, and the effect should be detectable with current technology.  相似文献

The role of an external magnetic field via the ion polarization drift effect has been investigated theoretically on the dust-Coulomb crystal formation in a dusty plasma in the presence of continuous ion flows from the bulk plasma to the sheath. The effects of the ions polarization drift on the strength and the effective lengths of the static Debye shielding potential and the oscillatory dynamical potential are clearly demonstrated.  相似文献

The main features of the structure observed in the energy resolved spin polarization of secondary electrons emitted from Ni are interpreted in terms of surface and bulk plasmon assisted emission. The model also predicts a measurable shift of the main polarization peak of about 0.3 eV to lower energies as the temperature is raised from room temperature to closely below the Curie temperature.  相似文献
