This paper presents an analytical approach using higher order plate theories to determine wave reflections from and transmissions through a damaged region in a beam. The damaged region is either treated as two split beams or as an inhomogeneity. The reflection ratios and transmission ratios are found to depend strongly on the frequency of the incident flexural waves, as well as the size of the damage, which gives rise to strong stop/pass band behaviour. Using the spectral analysis method, the transient wave propagation in a beam with a part-through delamination is predicted and compared with experimental results, indicating a good agreement in the phases and amplitudes of both the reflected and transmitted waves.  相似文献

This study addresses the problem of noise reduction using piezoelements. The nonlinear technique, synchronized switch damping (SSD), is implemented. The device is a pulse-tube termination equipped with piezoelements, which allows performant damping of the vibration resulting from an incident acoustic wave. Due to this damping, both reflected and transmitted wave are reduced. In the semipassive damping approach proposed in this paper, energy degradation is strongly enhanced when the piezoelements are continuously switched from open to short circuit synchronously to the strain. This technique has been developed following two strategies. The first is SSD on a short circuit in which the piezoelement is always in open circuit, except for a very brief period at each strain extremum where it is short-circuited. The second approach is SSD on an inductor. The process is very similar, except that instead of forcing the voltage to zero, the voltage is exactly reversed using a controlled oscillating discharge of the piezoelement capacitor on an inductor during switch drive. Due to this switching mechanism, a phase shift appears between the strain and the resulting voltage, thus creating energy dissipation. Following SSD on an piezoelement, attenuations of 15 dB in reflection and 7 dB in transmission were obtained.  相似文献

This paper deals with a TE plane wave reflection and transmission from a thin film with one-dimensional disorder by means of the stochastic functional approach. The relative permittivity of the thin film is written by a Gaussian random field in the horizontal direction with infinite extent, and is uniform in the vertical direction with finite thickness. Arandomwavefield is obtained in terms of a Wiener-Hermite expansion representation with approximate expansion coefficients (Wiener kernels) under a small fluctuation case. For a SiC thin film and a glass thin film having one-dimensional disorder with Gaussian correlation or an exponential correlation, numerical examples of the first-order incoherent scattering cross section and the optical theorem are illustrated in the figures. It is then found that ripples and four major peaks appear in angular distributions of the incoherent scattering. Such four peaks may occur in the directions of forward scattering, specular reflection, backscattering and in the symmetrical direction of forward scattering with respect to the normal to surface of the thin film. Physical processes that yield such ripples and peaks are discussed.  相似文献

In waveguide structures, waves may be partially reflected by local non-uniformities such as cracks and other defects. The reflection and transmission characteristics associated with the presence of a discontinuity may be used, in principle, to give some indication of both the location and size of the defect. A combined spectral element and finite element (SE/FE) method has been used previously to investigate the effects of local non-uniformities at relatively low frequencies. However, for analysis at higher frequencies, where complex deformation of the waveguide occurs, it is necessary to extend this approach. Such high frequency analysis is necessary if small defects are to be located within the waveguide cross-section. In order to investigate wave propagation at higher frequencies, a combined spectral super element and finite element (SSE/FE) method is presented. This method allows the transmission, reflection and wave conversion at discontinuities to be determined for complex waveguides. As an example of the use of this method, wave reflection and transmission in rails are estimated at frequencies between 20 and 40 kHz for various notional sawcut-like defects of progressively increasing size. This shows the feasibility of the approach for realistic waveguides. However, from these simulations it is shown that defects have to be quite large before they can be detected using a single transducer position on the rail cross-section using train-induced vibration.  相似文献

The optical properties of the interference wedge are analysed for the case of restricted laser beam illumination. By further development of Brossel's method, equations describing this case are derived and used to calculate the reflected and transmitted beam profiles for typical intracavity laser beam diameters (0.2–0.6 mm) for Gaussian and uniform intensity distributions. In particular, the experimentally observed formation of bright fringes outside the beam impact area at resonant wavelengths is explained. some useful dependencies concerning the wedge reflection and transmission for laser applications are obtained and experimentally demonstrated.  相似文献

A new approach in which tunneling of a quantum particle through a one-dimensional potential barrier is treated as a combined process involving two alternative elementary transmission and reflection processes is presented. It is demonstrated that the wave function describing the state of the entire quantum ensemble of particles can unambiguously be expressed as a sum of two other solutions of the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation (ODSE) that describe the states of sub-ensembles of transmitted and reflected particles in all stages of scattering.  相似文献

The interaction dynamics between two incoherent light beams in a medium with thermal nonlin-earity is studied both experimentally and theoretically. It is shown that in the mode of a nonlinear reflection the transformation of a spatial structure of a weak signal beam can be theoretically described in the framework of a spatially distributed model for a nonlinear change in the refractive index of the medium.  相似文献

当前高功率激光装置系统中, 国内使用透射式衍射光栅进行光束采样, 国外甚至使用光栅聚焦并同时结合谐波分离和采样功能. 高功率激光辐照下, 除了0级透射打靶光以及目标取样光外, 其他级次衍射光的影响也不可忽视, 可能造成诸如鬼像聚焦破坏、时间脉宽测量不稳定、近远场测量噪声等问题. 尤其是透射衍射光栅内部全反射级次会导致光栅出射一系列规律的衍射花样, 造成上述干扰和危害. 首先理论上针对透射式光栅(包括取样光栅和聚焦光栅)进行了相应的计算和分析, 然后从实验上观察并测量了取样光栅内部全反射级次的现象, 并且结合镀减反膜前后的衍射现象进行了讨论, 最后分析并给出了如何消除或规避全反射级次和其他冗余级次影响的方法.  相似文献

We demonstrate a dual-beam-reflection phenomenon for a Gaussian beam illuminating at a Kretschmann configuration composed of a photonic-crystal-made prism and a dielectric waveguide. One reflection beam has a positive shift and the other has a negative shift. The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) shows that the specific phenomenon takes place only when the corresponding quasi-guided mode supported in the Kretschmann configuration is excited. Field profile of the quasi-guided mode demonstrates a strong localized stationary field in the dielectric waveguide. We found that the maximum positive lateral shift (LS) is 14.27a (where a is the lattice constant), corresponding to 3.07 times of the incident wavelength, which is 0.7135 times of the beam waist and much larger than that in some previous reports.  相似文献

We present a quantitative method for identification of the dynamic range of the detectable absorption coefficient in the analysis of transmission terahertz (THz) time-domain spectroscopy data. In transmission measurements the largest detectable absorption coefficient is determined by the dynamic range of the THz signals, whereas in reflection measurements the largest detectable absorption coefficient is determined by the scan-to-scan reproducibility of the signal.  相似文献

The effect of parametric reflection of a signal beam from a focused reference beam has been investigated. It is shown that focusing reduces a pump power reflection threshold but causes certain distortions due to the reduction of the area of the parametric mirror and occurrence of its longitudinal curvature. These effects limit the width and angle of incidence of the signal beam. To decrease the sum wave power, it is proposed to introduce an additional dispersion mismatch.  相似文献

Excitation of a magnetostatic surface wave beam in a thin magnetic film is studied theoretically and experimentally. Unique features in the propagation of such a beam are found, and the laws of beam reflection and refraction are studied.
