Multiple Wilson and Jacobi–Piñeiro polynomials   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0  
We introduce multiple Wilson polynomials, which give a new example of multiple orthogonal polynomials (Hermite–Padé polynomials) of type II. These polynomials can be written as a Jacobi–Piñeiro transform, which is a generalization of the Jacobi transform for Wilson polynomials, found by Koornwinder. Here we need to introduce Jacobi and Jacobi–Piñeiro polynomials with complex parameters. Some explicit formulas are provided for both Jacobi–Piñeiro and multiple Wilson polynomials, one of them in terms of Kampé de Fériet series. Finally, we look at some limiting relations and construct a part of a multiple AT-Askey table.  相似文献

The chromatic polynomial of a simple graph G with n>0 vertices is a polynomial of degree n, where αk(G) is the number of k-independent partitions of G for all k. The adjoint polynomial of G is defined to be , where is the complement of G. We find explicit formulas for the adjoint polynomials of the bridge–path and bridge–cycle graphs. Consequence, we find the zeros of the adjoint polynomials of several families of graphs.  相似文献

It has been shown in Ferreira et al. [Asymptotic relations in the Askey scheme for hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials, Adv. in Appl. Math. 31(1) (2003) 61–85], López and Temme [Approximations of orthogonal polynomials in terms of Hermite polynomials, Methods Appl. Anal. 6 (1999) 131–146; The Askey scheme for hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials viewed from asymptotic analysis, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 133 (2001) 623–633] that the three lower levels of the Askey table of hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials are connected by means of asymptotic relations. In Ferreira et al. [Limit relations between the Hahn polynomials and the Hermite, Laguerre and Charlier polynomials, submitted for publication] we have established new asymptotic connections between the fourth level and the two lower levels. In this paper, we continue with that program and obtain asymptotic expansions between the fourth level and the third level: we derive 16 asymptotic expansions of the Hahn, dual Hahn, continuous Hahn and continuous dual Hahn polynomials in terms of Meixner–Pollaczek, Jacobi, Meixner and Krawtchouk polynomials. From these expansions, we also derive three new limits between those polynomials. Some numerical experiments show the accuracy of the approximations and, in particular, the accuracy in the approximation of the zeros of those polynomials.  相似文献

We compute the Newton step for the characteristic polynomial and for the even and odd characteristic polynomials of a symmetric positive definite Toeplitz matrix as the reciprocal of the trace of an appropriate matrix. We show that, after the Yule-Walker equations are solved, this trace can be computed in additional arithmetic operations, which is in contrast to existing methods, which rely on a recursion, requiring additional arithmetic operations.

In this work we characterize a high-order Toda lattice in terms of a family of matrix polynomials orthogonal with respect to a complex matrix measure. In order to study the solution of this dynamical system, we give explicit expressions for the Weyl function, generalized Markov function, and we also obtain, under some conditions, a representation of the vector of linear functionals associated with this system. We show that the orthogonality is embedded in these structure and governs the high-order Toda lattice. We also present a Lax-type theorem for the point spectrum of the Jacobi operator associated with a Toda-type lattice.  相似文献

In this paper, we complete the global qualitative analysis of the well-known FitzHugh–Nagumo neuronal model. We consider ensembles of random Hermitian matrices with a distribution measure determined by a polynomial potential perturbed by an external source. We find the genus-zero algebraic function describing the limit mean density of eigenvalues in the case of an anharmonic potential and a diagonal external source with two symmetric eigenvalues. We discuss critical regimes where the density support changes the connectivity or increases the genus of the algebraic function and consequently obtain local universal asymptotic representations for the density at interior and boundary points of its support (in the generic cases). Inspired with papers by Bokhari, Qadir, and Al‐Attas (2010) and by Rapai?, ?ekara, and Govedarica (2014), in this paper we investigate a few types of orthogonal polynomials on finite intervals and derive the corresponding quadrature formulas of Gaussian type for efficient numerical computation of the left and right fractional Riemann‐Liouville integrals. A kind of function-valued Padé-type approximant via the formal orthogonal polynomials (FPTAVOP) is introduced on the polynomial space and an algorithm is sketched by means of the formal orthogonal polynomials. This method can be applied to approximate characteristic values and the corresponding characteristic function of Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. Moreover, theoretical analyses show that FPTAVOP method is the most effective one for accelerating the convergence of a sequence of functions. In addition, a typical numerical example is presented to illustrate when the estimates of characteristic value and characteristic function by using this new method are more accurate than other methods.  相似文献

A numerical method for solving Volterra's population model for population growth of a species in a closed system is proposed. Volterra's model is a nonlinear integro‐differential equation where the integral term represents the effects of toxin. The approach is based on hybrid function approximations. The properties of hybrid functions that consist of block‐pulse and Lagrange‐interpolating polynomials are presented. The associated operational matrices of integration and product are then utilized to reduce the solution of Volterra's model to the solution of a system of algebraic equations. We consider banded block Toeplitz matrices Tn with n block rows and columns. We show that under certain technical assumptions, the normalized eigenvalue counting measure of Tn for n → ∞ weakly converges to one component of the unique vector of measures that minimizes a certain energy functional. In this way we generalize a recent result of Duits and Kuijlaars for the scalar case. Along the way we also obtain an equilibrium problem associated to an arbitrary algebraic curve, not necessarily related to a block Toeplitz matrix. For banded block Toeplitz matrices, there are several new phenomena that do not occur in the scalar case: (i) The total masses of the equilibrium measures do not necessarily form a simple arithmetic series but in general are obtained through a combinatorial rule; (ii) The limiting eigenvalue distribution may contain point masses, and there may be attracting point sources in the equilibrium problem; (iii) More seriously, there are examples where the connection between the limiting eigenvalue distribution of Tn and the solution to the equilibrium problem breaks down. We provide sufficient conditions guaranteeing that no such breakdown occurs; in particular we show this if Tn is a Hessenberg matrix.  相似文献
