We consider a differential inclusion subject to a singular perturbation, i.e., part of the derivatives are multiplied by a small parameter >0. We show that under some stability and structural assumptions, every solution of the singularly perturbed inclusion comes close to a solution of the degenerate inclusion (obtained for =0) when tends to 0. The goal of the present paper is to provide a new result of Tikhonov type on the time interval [0,+∞[.  相似文献

A numerical method based on finite difference method with variable mesh is given for second order singularly perturbed self-adjoint two point boundary value problems. The original problem is reduced to its normal form and the reduced problem is solved by FDM taking variable mesh(geometric mesh). The maximum absolute errors maxi|y(xi)-yi|, for different values of parameter , number of points N, and the mesh ratio r, for three examples have been given in tables to support the efficiency of the method.  相似文献

Let Ω be a bounded domain with smooth boundary in . For the more general weight b, some nonlinearities f and singularities g, by two kinds of nonlinear transformations, a new perturbation method, which was introduced by García Melián in [J. García Melián, Boundary behavior of large solutions to elliptic equations with singular weights, Nonlinear Anal. 67 (2007) 818–826], and comparison principles, we show that the boundary behavior of solutions to a boundary blow-up elliptic problem Δw=b(x)f(w),w>0,xΩ,w|Ω= and a singular Dirichlet problem −Δu=b(x)g(u),u>0,xΩ,u|Ω=0 has the same form under the nonlinear transformations, which can be determined in terms of the inverses of the transformations.  相似文献

Existence, uniqueness, and non-uniqueness results are given for a class of singular diffusion problems with variable diffusion rates. Continuity arguments are used on related initial value problems to produce the existence results. Uniqueness criteria are established for different sets of hypotheses and non-uniqueness results are discussed when these hypotheses fail.  相似文献

In this paper, we use for the first time linearization techniques to deal with boundary blow-up elliptic problems. After introducing a convenient functional setting, we show that the problem Δu=λa(x)up+g(x,u) in Ω, with u=+∞ on ∂Ω, has a unique positive solution for large enough λ, and determine its asymptotic behavior as λ→+∞. Here p>1, a(x) is a continuous function which can be singular near ∂Ω and g(x,u) is a perturbation term with potential growth near zero and infinity. We consider quasilinear singular perturbation problems of the form εy+p(x)y+q(x,y)=h(x),x[0,1];y(0)=,y(1)=β with a boundary layer at one end point. The original problem is reduced to an asymptotically equivalent linear first order initial-value problem (IVP). Then, a variable step size initial value algorithm is applied to solve this (IVP). The algorithm is based on the locally exact integration of quadratic linearized problem coefficients on a non-uniform mesh. Two term-recurrence relation with controlled step size is obtained. Several problems are solved to demonstrate the applicability and efficiency of the algorithm. It is observed that the present method approximates the exact solution very well.  相似文献

With weighted orthogonal Jacobi polynomials, we study spectral approximations for singular perturbation problems on an interval. The singular parameters of the model are included in the basis functions, and then its stiff matrix is diagonal. Considering the estimations for weighted orthogonal coefficients, a special technique is proposed to investigate the a posteriori error estimates. In view of the difficulty of a posteriori error estimates for spectral approximations, we employ a truncation projection to study lower bounds for the models. Specially, we present the lower bounds of a posteriori error estimates with two different weighted norms in details.  相似文献

We consider three singularly perturbed convection-diffusion problems defined in three-dimensional domains: (i) a parabolic problem −?(uxx+uyy)+ut+v1ux+v2uy=0 in an octant, (ii) an elliptic problem −?(uxx+uyy+uzz)+v1ux+v2uy+v3uz=0 in an octant and (iii) the same elliptic problem in a half-space. We consider for all of these problems discontinuous boundary conditions at certain regions of the boundaries of the domains. For each problem, an asymptotic approximation of the solution is obtained from an integral representation when the singular parameter ?→0+. The solution is approximated by a product of two error functions, and this approximation characterizes the effect of the discontinuities on the small ?− behaviour of the solution and its derivatives in the boundary layers or the internal layers.  相似文献

In this paper, a singular approach to study the solutions of an impulsive differential equation from a qualitative and quantitative point of view is proposed. In the approach, a suitable singular perturbation term is introduced and a singularly perturbed system with infinite initial values is defined, in which, the reduced problem of the singularly perturbed system is exactly the impulsive differential equation under consideration. Then the boundary layer function method is applied to construct the uniformly valid asymptotic solutions to the singularly perturbed system. Based on the continuous asymptotic solution, the discontinuous solutions of the impulsive differential equation are described and approximated. An example, namely, a classical Lotka-Volterra prey-predator model with one pulse is carried out to illustrate the main results.  相似文献

We investigate well-posedness of initial-boundary value problems for a class of nonlinear parabolic equations with variable density. At some part of the boundary, called singular boundary, the density can either vanish or diverge or not need to have a limit. We provide simple conditions for uniqueness or non-uniqueness of bounded solutions, depending on the behaviour of the density near the singular boundary.  相似文献

This paper investigates the existence of solutions for nonlinear systems of second order, singular boundary value problems (BVPs) with Bohr boundary conditions. A key application that arises from this theory is the famous Thomas–Fermi equations for the model of the atom when it is in a neutral state. The methodology in this paper uses an alternative and equivalent BVP, which is in the class of resonant singular BVPs, and thus this paper obtains novel results by implementing an innovative differential inequality, Lyapunov functions and topological techniques. This approach furnishes new results in the area of singular BVPs for a priori bounds and existence of solutions, where the BVP has unrestricted growth conditions and subject to the Bohr boundary conditions. In addition, the results can be relaxed and hold for the non-singular case too.  相似文献

We consider the singular boundary value problem for the differential equation x″+f(t,x,x′)=0 with the boundary conditions x(0)=0, w(x(T),x′(T))+?(x)=0. Here f is a Carathéodory function on which may by singular at the value x=0 of the phase variable x and f may change sign, w is a continuous function, and ? is a continuous nondecreasing functional on C0([0,T]). The existence of positive solutions on (0,T] in the classes AC1([0,T]) and C0([0,T])∩AC1loc((0,T]) is considered. Existence results are proved by combining the method of lower and upper functions with Leray-Schauder degree theory.  相似文献
