We establish boundary and interior gradient estimates, and show that no supersonic bubble appears inside of a subsonic region for transonic potential flows for both self-similar isothermal and steady problems. We establish an existence result for the self-similar isothermal problem, and improve the Hopf maximum principle to show that the flow is strictly elliptic inside of the subsonic region for the steady problem.  相似文献

In the paper, we first use the energy method to establish the local well-posedness as well as blow-up criteria for the Cauchy problem on the two-component Euler–Poincaré equations in multi-dimensional space. In the case of dimensions 2 and 3, we show that for a large class of smooth initial data with some concentration property, the corresponding solutions blow up in finite time by using Constantin–Escher Lemma and Littlewood–Paley decomposition theory. Then for the one-component case, a more precise blow-up estimate and a global existence result are also established by using similar methods. Next, we investigate the zero density limit and the zero dispersion limit. At the end, we also briefly demonstrate a Liouville type theorem for the stationary weak solution.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the stability/instability of a class of positive spiky steady states for a quasi-linear cross-diffusion system describing two-species competition. By detailed spectral analysis, it is proved that the spiky steady states for the related shadow system are linearly unstable and the spiky steady states for the original cross-diffusion system are non-linearly unstable.  相似文献

We consider the spectral problem for a non self-adjoint Dirichlet problem for a higher-order elliptic operator in a sequence of perforated domains. We study the initial value problem for a hyperbolic-elliptic coupled system with L initial data. We prove global-in-time existence and uniqueness for that model by means of contraction and comparison properties. Moreover, after suitable scalings, we analyze both the hyperbolic–hyperbolic and the hyperbolic–parabolic relaxation limits for the model itself.  相似文献

We prove the global existence of the so-called H2 solutions for a nonlinear wave equation with a nonlinear dissipative term and a derivative type nonlinear perturbation. We consider the nonlinear heat equation with nonlocal reaction term in space , in smoothly bounded domains. We prove the existence of a universal bound for all nonnegative global solutions of this equation. Moreover, in contrast with similar recent results for equations with local reaction terms, this is shown to hold for all p>1. As an interesting by-product of our proof, we derive for this equation a smoothing effect under weaker assumptions than for corresponding problem with local reaction.  相似文献

We study here instability problems of standing waves for the nonlinear Klein–Gordon equations and solitary waves for the generalized Boussinesq equations. It is shown that those special wave solutions may be strongly unstable by blowup in finite time, depending on the range of the wave's frequency or the wave's speed of propagation and on the nonlinearity.  相似文献

Nonlinear stability of nonlinear periodic solutions of the regularized Benjamin-Ono equation and the Benjamin-Bona-Mahony equation with respect to perturbations of the same wavelength is analytically studied. These perturbations are shown to be stable. We also develop a global well-posedness theory for the regularized Benjamin-Ono equation in the periodic and in the line setting. In particular, we show that the Cauchy problem (in both periodic and nonperiodic case) cannot be solved by an iteration scheme based on the Duhamel formula for negative Sobolev indices.  相似文献

This paper applies the variational approach developed in part I of this work [22] to a singular limit of reaction–diffusion–advection equations which arise in combustion modeling. We first establish existence, uniqueness, monotonicity, asymptotic decay, and the associated free boundary problem for special traveling wave solutions which are minimizers of the considered variational problem in the singular limit. We then show that the speed of the minimizers of the approximating problems converges to the speed of the minimizer of the singular limit. Also, after an appropriate translation the minimizers of the approximating problems converge strongly on compacts to the minimizer of the singular limit. In addition, we obtain matching upper and lower bounds for the speed of the minimizers in the singular limit in terms of a certain area-type functional for small curvatures of the free boundary. The conclusions of the analysis are illustrated by a number of numerical examples.  相似文献

The initial boundary value problem for non-linear wave equations of Kirchhoff type with dissipation in a bounded domain is considered. We prove the blow-up of solutions for the strong dissipative term -Δut-Δut and the linear dissipative term utut by the energy method and give some estimates for the life span of solutions. We consider the porous medium equation with sign changes. In particular this equation describes the mixing of fresh and salt groundwater due to mechanical dispersion. The unknown function u, which denotes the velocity of the fluids, may take positive as well as negative values. Our main result is the following : under certain monotonicity hypotheses on the initial function, there exists a time T> 0 after which the regions where u < 0 and u > 0 are separated by an interface x = ζ(t) such that ζ is continuously differentiable on [T,∞]. This paper deals with a mathematical model describing the cell cycle dynamics and chemotactic driven cell movement in a multicellular tumor spheroid. Tumor cells consist of two types of cells: proliferating cells and quiescent cells, which have different chemotactic responses to an extracellular nutrient supply. The model is a free boundary problem for a nonlinear system of reaction-diffusion-advection equations, where the free boundary is the outer boundary of the spheroid. The free boundary condition is quite novel due to different velocity of two types of cells. The global existence and uniqueness of solutions to the model is proved. The proof is based on a fixed point argument, together with the Lp-theory for parabolic equations with the third boundary condition.  相似文献

We consider the asymptotic behavior of the total energy of solutions to the Cauchy problem for wave equations with time dependent propagation speed. The main purpose of this paper is that the asymptotic behavior of the total energy is dominated by the following properties of the coefficient: order of the differentiability, behavior of the derivatives as t → ∞ and stabilization of the amplitude described by an integral. Moreover, the optimality of these properties are ensured by actual examples. In this paper, we study the orbital stability of the peakons for the Degasperis-Procesi equation with a strong dispersive term on the line. Using the method in [Z. Lin, Y. Liu, Stability of peakons for the Degasperis-Procesi equation, Comm. Pure Appl. Math. 62 (2009) 125-146], we prove that the shapes of these peakons are stable under small perturbations.
