We have developed the basic equation of the orientational distribution function of oblate spheroidal hematite particles with rotational Brownian motion in a simple shear flow under an applied magnetic field. An oblate spheroidal hematite particle has an important characteristic in that it is magnetized in a direction normal to the particle axis. Since a dilute dispersion is addressed in the present study, we have taken into account only the friction force (torque) whilst neglecting the hydrodynamic interactions among the particles. This basic equation has been solved numerically in order that we may investigate the dependence of the orientational distribution on the magnetic field strength, shear rate and rotational Brownian motion and the relationship between the orientational distribution and the transport coefficients such as viscosity and diffusion coefficient. We found that if the effect of the magnetic field is more dominant, the particle inclines in such a way that the oblate surface aligns in the magnetic field direction. If the Peclet number increases and the effect of the shear flow becomes more dominant, the particle inclines such that the oblate surface tilts in the shear flow direction. The viscosity due to the magnetic torque is shown to increase as the magnetic field increases, since the magnetic torque due to the applied magnetic field becomes the more dominant effect. Moreover, the viscosity increase is shown to be more significant for a larger aspect ratio or for a more oblate hematite particle. We have applied the analysis to the problem of particle sedimentation under gravity in the presence of a magnetic field applied in the sedimentation direction. The particles are found to sediment with the oblate surface aligning more significantly in the sedimentation direction as the applied magnetic field strength increases.  相似文献

In this paper, Newtonian nanofluid flow is observed under the effects of the magnetic field, activation energy and motile microorganisms over an inclined stretchable cylinder. The magnificent aspects of nanoliquid are demonstrated by enduring the Brownian motion and thermophoresis diffusion features.Nonlinear higher order partial differential equations are transformed into first-order ordinary differential equations with suitable similarity variables. The attained sets of governing equations are then cracked by bvp4 c procedure in MATLAB mathematical software. The numerical and graphical outcomes of controlling parameters such as Prandtl number, mixed convection, activation energy, thermophoresis,Brownian parameter, Biot number, Lewis number, Peclet number and motile concentration parameter against the velocity, temperature, volumetric concentration and motile concentration of nanoparticles of the fluid are discussed. The velocity is enhanced with the growth valuation in mixed convection and decay by rising variation of buoyancy ratio parameter, magnetic parameter and bio-convective Rayleigh parameter. The evolution in motile microorganisms is due to the increasing values of microorganisms Biot number. The presented data can be helpful in enhancement of manufacturing processes, biomolecules, extrusion systems applications and energy production improvement.  相似文献

Here heat, concentration and motile microorganism transfer rates in radiative flow of nanofluid are investigated. Variable thicked surface of rotating disk is examined. Concept of microorganisms suspended nanoparticles is stabilized through bioconvection which has been induced by combined effects of magnetic field and buoyancy forces. For obtained nonlinear differential systems the convergent series solutions are derived. Fluid flow, temperature, concentration and motile density behaviors for different parameters are analyzed through graphs. Skin friction and Nusselt number are analyzed numerically. Clearly temperature and concentration have opposite behavior for larger Brownian motion parameter. Motile density reduces for bioconvection Peclet number and bioconvection Lewis number.  相似文献

We present a theory for the diffusive capture of submicron-size magnetic particles by a sphere assemblage operating as a high-gradient magnetic separator. The carrier fluid is modeled in the laminar flow approximation. With the restriction to large Peclet numbers and relatively weak magnetic fields (up to several kOe), approximate analytical methods are introduced and applied to study the single sphere capture efficiency as a function of magnetic field strength, flow rate, and particle size. Although sphere efficiency increases in stronger fields, there is no indication of the high-field saturation which marked our between diffusion enhancement and the magnetic force is observed.  相似文献

Global behavior of field line diffusion in a stochastic magnetic field is obtained. Stochastic motion of particles undergoing mutural random collisions in the stochastic magnetic field is studied for the whole time range. The field line as wel as the particle diffusion coefficients are calculated to the sixth order of the relative magnitude of the fluctuating magnetic field.  相似文献

We analyze the transport properties of a neutral tracer in a carrier fluid flowing through percolationlike porous media with spatial correlations. We model convection in the mass transport process using the velocity field obtained by the numerical solution of the Navier-Stokes and continuity equations in the pore space. We find that the resulting statistical properties of the tracer show a transition from a subdiffusion regime at low Peclet number to an enhanced diffusion regime at high Peclet number.  相似文献

The rheological behavior of silver nanowire (AgNW) suspensions adapted for screen printing inks was investigated. Aqueous silver nanowire inks consisting of AgNW (length of 30 μm, and diameter of 40 and 90 nm), dispersant and binder were formulated. The effect of AgNW content on the rheological behavior of the ink and the build-up of ink structure after screen printing were examined as they depend on applied shear and temperature. Rheological measurements under conditions that mimic the screen printing process were done to assess viscoelastic properties induced by flow alignment of the wires and the subsequent recovery of the low shear structure. The Stretched Exponential model (SEmo) was used to model the recovery process after screen printing to obtain the characteristic time of the recovery or build-up process. The characteristic time was determined at several temperatures to obtain the activation energy of recovery. The domination of Brownian motion or non-Brownian motion behavior can be characterized by a Peclet number, which is the ratio of shear rate to the rotational diffusion coefficient. The Peclet number and the dimensionless concentration of wires were used to assess the recovery mechanism. The steady viscosity at low and high shear rates was also treated by an activation energy analysis.  相似文献

Entropy generation is the loss of energy in thermodynamical systems due to resistive forces, diffusion processes, radiation effects and chemical reactions. The main aim of this research is to address entropy generation due to magnetic field, nonlinear thermal radiation, viscous dissipation, thermal diffusion and nonlinear chemical reaction in the transport of viscoelastic fluid in the vicinity of a stagnation point over a lubricated disk. The conservation laws of mass and momentum along with the first law of thermodynamics and Fick's law are used to discuss the flow, heat and mass transfer, while the second law of thermodynamics is used to analyze the entropy and irreversibility. The numbers of independent variables in the modeled set of nonlinear partial differential equations are reduced using similarity variables and the resulting system is numerically approximated using the Keller box method. The effects of thermophoresis,Brownian motion and the magnetic parameter on temperature are presented for lubricated and rough disks. The local Nusselt and Sherwood numbers are documented for both linear and nonlinear thermal radiation and lubricated and rough disks. Graphical representations of the entropy generation number and Bejan number for various parameters are also shown for lubricated and rough disks. The concentration of nanoparticles at the lubricated surface reduces with the magnetic parameter and Brownian motion. The entropy generation declines for thermophoresis diffusion and Brownian motion when lubrication effects are dominant. It is concluded that both entropy generation and the magnitude of the Bejan number increase in the presence of slip. The current results present many applications in the lubrication phenomenon, heating processes, cooling of devices, thermal engineering, energy production, extrusion processes etc.  相似文献

A Monte Carlo simulation technique has been used to model the electron transport beharlot, especially the electron diffusion motion, in the cathode fall region of a glow discharge under the influence of a non-uniform electric field and a transverse magnetic field perpen-dicular to the cathode sheath electric field. Three types of collisions (elastic, excitation and ionization) are taken into account in our model. The electron free flying time is determined by the electron-neutral atom collision frequency. We focus attention on the electron diffusion distance and velocity. The electron-neutral atom collision processes and the electron drift velocity are also studied. The results indicate that with the increase of the magnetic field the electron diffusion distance increases and the electron diffusion velocity decreases. The results Mso show that the collision processes are enhanced by the magnetic field, this is in agreement with the experimental result. However, the axial magnetic field does not affect the electron transport behavior.  相似文献

The influence of the magnetization and relaxation time on flux jumps in high temperature superconductors (HTSC) under varying magnetic field is studied using the fundamental electromagnetic field equations and the thermal diffusion equation; temperature variety corresponding to flux jump is also discussed. We find that for a low sweep rate of the applied magnetic field, the measurement and relaxation times can reduce flux jump and to constrain the number of flux jumps, even stabilizing the HTSC, since much heat produced by the motion of magnetic flux can transfer into coolant during the measurement and relaxation times. As high temperature superconductors are subjected to a high sweep rate or a strong pulsed magnetic field, magnetization undergoes from stability or oscillation to jump for different pause times. And the period of temperature oscillation is equal to the measurement and relaxation time.  相似文献

Test particle evaluation of the diffusion coefficient in the presence of magnetic field fluctuations and binary collisions is presented. Chaotic magnetic field lines originate from resonant magnetic perturbations (RMPs). To lowest order, charged particles follow magnetic field lines. Drifts and interaction (collisions) with other particles decorrelate particles from the magnetic field lines. We model the binary collision process by a constant collision frequency. The magnetic field configuration including perturbations on the integrable Hamiltonian part is such that the single particle motion can be followed by a collisional version of a Chirikov-Taylor (standard) map. Frequent collisions are allowed for. Scaling of the diffusion beyond the quasilinear and subdiffusive behaviour is investigated in dependence on the strength of the magnetic perturbations and the collision frequency. The appearance of the so called Rechester-Rosenbluth regime is verified. It is further shown that the so called Kadomtsev-Pogutse diffusion coefficient is the strong collisional limit of the Rechester-Rosenbluth formula. The theoretical estimates are supplemented by numerical simulations.  相似文献

Including a random component of a magnetic field parallel to an ambient field introduces a mean perpendicular motion to the average field line. This effect is normally not discussed because one customarily chooses at the outset to ignore such a field component in discussing random walk and diffusion of field lines. A discussion of the basic effect is given, indicating that any random magnetic field with a non-zero helicity will lead to such a non-zero perpendicular mean motion. Several exact analytic illustrations are given of the effect as well as a simple numerical illustration.  相似文献

We study regular and chaotic motion of the charge carriers in a two-dimensional electron gas subject to a spatially periodic magnetic field and to an AC electric field. We show how the interplay between the time-periodic electric and the spatially-periodic magnetic field leads to dynamical chaos and to fast stochastic diffusion of the electrons. The cases of a one-dimensional magnetic modulation with AC pumping and of a pure two-dimensional magnetic modulation are compared. We find the direct effect of anomalous diffusion and Lévy flights on the conductivity of a sample.  相似文献

The saturation of a spectrum with two separated spectral lines is theoretically analyzed in the presence of the spectral diffusion. Surprising effects of circularly polarized alternating magnetic field on the spectrum under saturation conditions were obtained. The alternating magnetic field pushes two lines apart, while the spectral diffusion tends to shift the lines to the center of gravity. As a result, the so-called exchange narrowing of the spectrum occurs at a higher spectral diffusion rate with the increase in the amplitude of the alternating magnetic field. The spectrum is presented as a sum of two lines which correspond to the two independent collective modes of the magnetization vectors motion. The resonance frequencies of these modes depend on the spectral diffusion rate and the intensity of the alternating magnetic field.  相似文献

Copper oxide (CuO) is a p-type semiconductor with a band gap of 1.2 eV, which is well known in high-temperature superconductor and antiferromagnetic (AFM) materials through Cu–O–Cu super-exchange interaction. In this paper, we report the strong anisotropic ferromagnetism (FM) in aligned CuO nanorod arrays synthesized by a microwave-assisted hydrothermal method. The transmission electron microscopy (TEM) image shows that the CuO nanorod consists of a large number of smaller nanorods with almost the same growth direction. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern indicates that the CuO nanorods are well crystallized with highly preferred orientation of the [020] direction. These CuO nanorod arrays show room-temperature ferromagnetism, with strong magnetic anisotropy when the magnetic field is applied perpendicular or parallel to the rod axis. This phenomenon of room-temperature ferromagnetism in those aligned CuO nanorods might originate from uncompensated surface spins and shape anisotropy of the nanorods.  相似文献

The present work analyzes cylindrical diffusion flames (Tsuji burner) under low stretch condition, considering fuel injection also from the backward region of the burner. To highlight the fundamental aspects of this flame, some assumptions are imposed, like constant thermodynamic and transport coefficients, unitary Lewis number and no radiative heat loss. It is also considered potential flow model and incompressible Navier–Stokes model. Despite the simplicity of the former model, results from both models show good agreement. Also, an asymptotic analysis describing the problem far from the burner is able to capture the most important mechanisms controlling the flame, then the flame shape is determined and the dependence of the characteristic length scales on Peclet number (based on the burner properties), free stream velocity and stoichiometry is revealed. The results show that the flame width is proportional to the mass stoichiometric coefficient and reciprocal to the Peclet number the 1/4 power and free stream velocity the 3/4 power, and that the flame height is proportional to the square of the mass stoichiometric coefficient and to the square root of the ratio of Peclet number to free stream velocity. In addition, an asymptotic stability analysis reveals low-stretch flame extinction to be caused by reduction in fuel and oxidizer concentrations, which provides the range of the stoichiometric coefficient for stable regime, and at the same time the range of heat released.  相似文献

Molecular motion in the polar organic solvent nitrobenzene induced by an electric field is studied by magnetic resonance imaging. Rf pulse sequences that correlate images obtained at two different times under conditions of both continuous and pulsed electric fields are introduced. The resultant image correlation spectra indicate that the time scale of motion in a 9.6 kV/cm electric field is tens of milliseconds. Comparison of the results to an analytic solution for the Fokker-Planck probability function for one-dimensional bounded diffusion yields an electric field dependent effective diffusion coefficient for perdeuterated nitrobenzene of D = 1.08 x 10(-5) cm(2)/s + (3.33 x 10(-3) cm(4)/kV(2)s) E(2) at room temperature. Characteristics of this electroconvection and its consequences for combining multidimensional nuclear magnetic resonance with electrical orientation are also discussed.  相似文献

A molecular dynamics computer simulation of a glass-forming Yukawa mixture is used to study the anisotropic dynamics of a single particle pulled by a constant force. Beyond linear response, a scaling regime is found where a force-temperature superposition principle of a Peclet number holds. In the latter regime, the diffusion dynamics perpendicular to the force can be mapped on the equilibrium dynamics in terms of an effective temperature, whereas parallel to the force a superdiffusive behavior is seen in the long-time limit. This behavior is associated with a hopping motion from cage to cage and can be qualitatively understood by a simple trap model.  相似文献

The scope of this work is to estimate the effective mass-transfer coefficient in a two-phase system of oil and water fluid droplets, both being in a porous medium. To this end, a tracer is advected from the flowing aqueous phase to the immobile non-aqueous one. Partitioning at the fluid-fluid interface and surface diffusion are also taken into account. By using spatial/volume-averaging techniques, the appropriately simplified boundary-value problems are described and numerically solved for the flow velocity field and for the transport problem. The problem was found to be controlled by the Peclet number of the flowing phase, the dimensionless parameter Λ, containing both diffusion and partition in the two phases, as well as the geometrical properties of the porous structure. It is also verified that the usually involved unit cell-configurations underestimate the mass transport to the immobile phase.  相似文献

The stochastic energy diffusion of the untrapped particle in the electrostatic mode is investigated analytically. We find that the equilibrium electrostatic field of periodical structure plays the same role as the usual focusing magnetic field to lead the test particle to stochastic motion. The resonance overlapping criterion for the random state is given, and also the Fokker-Planek-Kohnogorov approach to diffusion is considered for our system.  相似文献
