In this paper,we investigate the modulation instability for generating femtosecond pulses in fibres with slowly decreasing dispersion.Higher-order dispersion and higher-order nonlinear effects are taken into account when the continuous wave or quasi-continuous wave evolves into sub-picosecond and femtosecond pulses by modulation instability in the optical fibres.Our research results show that the gain spectrum of the dispersion-decreasing fibres is much wider than that in conventional fibres.The third-order dispersion effect has no contribution to gain spectrum,while the self-steepening effect reduces the maximum value and gain bandwidth,and the Raman self-scattering effect widens the extent to which the modulation instability occurs.  相似文献

We predict a strong transient Raman gain stimulated by a Gaussian noise field in dispersive media. Our theory is based on the method of successive approximations, the first of which is the Markovian approximation. It is shown that the transient behavior will take place near critical pump intensity both for “short” (τp > T2) and “ultrashort” (τp < T2) laser pulses (τp is the pump pulse duration, T2 is the relaxation time of optical phonons). Solutions for average intensities of the Stokes wave and optical phonons are obtained for arbitrary form of the given pump pulse. We show that transient Raman gain allows to form a very steep leading edge of the Stokes pulse.The steady-state increments of the second approximation describe the effects of a strong noise field. We show that after the intensity of the pump has exceeded a value beyond which the framework of validity of the Markovian approximation does not hold anymore, the steady-state Raman gain is saturated.We give a review of experimental results and make estimations for conditions of observing transient scattering in the field of a noise pump. Methods of obtaining the powerful femtosecond pulses based on stimulated Raman scattering of broad-band excimer lasers and supercontinuum emission are suggested.  相似文献

基于光脉冲所满足的慢变函数,详细推导了包含拉曼增益的高阶非线性薛定谔方程,在考虑色散的条件下,运用分步傅里叶方法对其数值分析,进而模拟仿真了拉曼增益对高斯脉冲在各向同性光纤中传播时自陡峭效应的影响,并与不考虑拉曼增益的自陡峭效应作比较,从而得出拉曼增益在不同条件下对高斯脉冲自陡峭效应的具体影响方式.结果表明,拉曼增益会影响高斯脉冲的展宽、脉冲峰值衰减以及在前后沿的振荡,其影响程度与具体的自陡峭参数、脉冲功率和色散系数的大小有关.  相似文献

在拉曼效应和参量放大共同作用下,当激光脉冲在双折射光纤中传输时,根据所遵循的耦合模方程,通过引入平行拉曼增益的洛伦兹模型,导出了当输入泵浦波偏振方向同双折射轴成45°角时,在双折射色散阶跃光纤中拉曼效应和参量放大共同作用所导致的增益,讨论并分析了在不同色散区增益谱随相关参量的变化。结果表明:由于拉曼效应、参量放大、双折射和色散的相互作用,导致增益谱的斯托克斯波与反斯托克斯波彼此不对称;在反常色散区,产生的增益以反斯托克斯波为主,在正常色散区则以斯托克斯波为主;当表征距离的级数m发生变化时,增益谱也随之发生变化,可以利用色散阶跃光纤在适当的级数m位置提取T频率脉冲。  相似文献

We demonstrate the capability for amplification of picosecond pulses in two bismuth-doped alumosilicate fibers. A spectrally filtered supercontinuum source is used to provide a train of picosecond pulses at discrete wavelengths within the gain bandwidth of bismuth fiber amplifiers. With a 30 m length of active fiber, a small signal gain at 1160 nm of over 20 dB is observed. In addition, we assess the viability of amplification of high repetition rate signals in such amplifiers, applying a 10 GHz modulation to a continuous wave Raman fiber laser operating at 1178 nm, finding that such signals are amplified without noticeable distortion.  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate a novel erbium-doped fiber based continuous-wave (cw) supercontinuum laser. The laser has a simple ring-cavity structure incorporating an erbium-doped fiber and a highly nonlinear dispersion-shifted fiber (HNL-DSF). Differently from previously demonstrated cw supercontinuum sources based on single propagation of a strong Raman pump laser beam through a highly nonlinear fiber, erbium gain inside the cavity generates a seed light oscillation, and the oscillated light subsequently evolves into a supercontinuum by nonlinear effects such as modulation instability and stimulated Raman scattering in the HNL-DSF. High quality of the depolarized supercontinuum laser output with a spectral bandwidth larger than 250 nm is readily achieved.  相似文献

The discovery of a novel phase‐locked frequency comb generated from a monolithic laser with the concurrent processes of self‐mode locking (SML) and stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) is reported. It is experimentally shown that the width of the Raman gain can be exploited to considerably expand the frequency comb of a monolithic SML crystal laser via the SRS process. At a pump power of 6.5 W, an output power of 140 mW in the Stokes wave with a pulse width as narrow as 2.9 ps at a pulse repetition rate of 6.615 GHz is obtained. The present finding not only provides useful insights into the monolithic intracavity SRS process but also paves the way for generating mode‐locked pulses based on monolithic self‐Raman crystals.  相似文献

An analytical solution is obtained for equations of transient stimulated Raman scattering for short samples and a weak seed Stokes wave in the approximation of a given pump field, and a numerical solution for more extended media or more intense input Stokes pulses with allowance for pump depletion. The dependence of the anti-Stokes wave energy on its spatial mismatch with the Stokes and laser waves is studied. The optimum angle of the anti-Stokes generation is found as a function of the length of the system, transverse relaxation rate, laser pulse energy, and intensity ratio of the Stokes and pump pulses at the entrance of the sample.  相似文献

分析了高功率脉冲在增益光纤中传输放大时非线性薛定谔方程的自相似解,得出注入光的脉宽和能量满足一定关系时,优化增益光纤的长度,才能满足种子光脉冲在增益光纤中的自相似传输放大.揭示了高功率种子光脉冲在光纤中自相似演化的特征参量.此外,模拟了注入能量为400 pJ,脉宽为200 fs,波形分别为正割、高斯以及3阶超高斯的种子光脉冲在纤芯为30μm的大模场增益光纤中的传输放大特性.结果表明3种波形的种子光脉冲的时间波形与光谱均演化为抛物形,时间波形与光谱均发生展宽,但光谱两侧均发生抖动.自相似传输放大后,脉冲为线性啁啾,易于压缩,对实现全光纤高功率超短脉冲产生系统具有重要意义.  相似文献

We show high Raman gain in a silicon submicrometer-size planar waveguide. Using high-confinement structures and picosecond pump pulses, we show 3.1-dB net internal gain with 2.8-W peak pump power in a 7-mm-long waveguide. We also analyze experimentally and theoretically the effect of free-carrier absorption on the Raman gain.  相似文献

A theoretical and numerical investigation of small-signal Raman backscattering from a chirped pump pulse in plasma shows that an ultrashort probe pulse will grow superradiantly, i.e., with an amplitude that scales with the propagation length while contracting self-similarly. These features are commonly associated with the nonlinear stages of Raman amplification in the pump depletion and Compton regimes. We show that the superradiant scaling results in very broad-bandwidth amplification due to gain distributed in frequency as well as spatially. Since different frequencies excite the plasma at different positions, wave breaking is avoided, and prepulses and pedestals are substantially suppressed. Linear chirped pulse amplification in plasma could provide a very broad-bandwidth alternative to solid state laser amplifiers, potentially usable for optical pulses a few cycles in duration.  相似文献

The use of Raman gain in conventional fiber followed by dispersion compensation in a holey fiber in a synchronously pumped laser configuration allowed compression by a factor of 8.5 of output pulses at a selected wavelength with respect to the pump pulses. We obtained 2-ps output pulses at 1.14 microm from a totally fiber-integrated laser pumped with 17-ps pulses at 1 microm. Higher pulse compression should be possible with nonlinear chirp compensation. Ultrashort-pulse, all-fiber Raman lasers at wavelengths shorter than 1.3 microm are feasible.  相似文献

We report an efficient transient stimulated Raman conversion of high-energy picosecond pulses at 1350 nm into the eye-safe 1500-nm wavelength range by use of a KGd(WO4)2 crystal. The conversion efficiency into either 1503- or 1537-nm radiation (767- or 901-cm(-1) Raman modes, respectively) is measured to be approximately 10% in a single-pass configuration. The transient Raman gain coefficient is found to be approximately 0.8 cm/GW. Simultaneous generation of multiple Raman lines is also observed.  相似文献

等离子体中的背向拉曼散射机理可以用来产生超短超强的激光脉冲. 本文采用粒子模拟方法模拟研究了等离子体密度对激光拉曼放大过程的影响. 研究发现, 过低的等离子体密度会导致等离子体波提前波破而降低能量转换效率; 而过高的等离子体密度又会导致其他不稳定性的快速增长, 限制作用距离和输出能量. 因此, 拉曼放大机理的最佳等离子体密度应处于等离子体波破的密度阈值附近, 可以获得最高的能量转换效率和能量输出. 另外, 空间频谱分析显示放大激光的强度饱和主要来自于自相位调制不稳定性的发展. 利用1013 W·cm-2的抽运激光脉冲, 模拟证实拉曼放大机理可有效地将种子激光的强度从1013 W·cm-2 放大到1017 W·cm-2, 脉宽压缩到40 fs, 且能量转换效率达到58%.  相似文献

The interaction of strong low-area pulses with two-level systems shows absorption line narrowing and hole burning within the homogeneous linewidth as a result of nonlinear wave mixing. The wave mixing results from the two-level electronic saturation nonlinearity and occurs, depending on the sign of the pulse area, as a strong absorption enhancement or gain at the transition frequency of the two-level system for resonant excitation.  相似文献

The modification of the transverse wave profile by the free electron laser (FEL) interaction in the collective Raman regime is considered. The gain is calculated and the transverse wave profile is found by solving for the eigenvalues and the actual eigenmodes of the system. When a waveguide is employed, a strong FEL interaction is shown to couple various vacuum waveguide modes, as was demonstrated by A. Bhattacharjee et al. (1988). When no waveguide or cavity is present, a coupling parameter which measures the strength of the interaction is identified. Expressions are derived for the gain for large and small values of the coupling parameter, corresponding to a strong optical guiding and large diffraction, respectively. Comparing the present results for the Raman regime with previous results for the strong pump regime, it is shown that the gain scales differently in each case, depending on both the regime of operation and on the beam geometry. The linear analysis is valid when the signal is small, and is useful mainly when the gain is high prior to saturation  相似文献
