Second-sphere coordination refers to any intermolecular interactions with the ligands directly bound to the primary coordination sphere of a metal ion. Four supramolecular complexes, 0.5[L·2H]2+·0.5[MCl4]2?·[CH3OH]·0.5[CH2Cl2] (M = Co, crystal 1; M = Mn, crystal 2), 0.5[L·2H]2+·0.5[ZnBr4]2?·[CH3OH]·0.5[CH2Cl2] (crystal 3), and 0.5[L·2H]2+·0.5[Cu2Br4]2?·H2O (crystal 4), based on naphthalene-based ligand N,N,N′,N′-tetra-p-methylnaphthyl-ethanediamine (L), have been synthesized. X-ray analysis reveals that 1–3 are isostructural, in which the methanol molecules are bridges, connecting the protonated L and metal chloride anions via N–H?O and O–H?Cl (Br) interactions to construct the host framework, and forming X-shaped cavity accessible for the inclusion of weakly polar guest molecules of dichloromethane. Dichloromethane is connected with the host framework through van der Waals forces. In 4, a dinuclear anion [Cu2Br4]2? is connected with the ligand through N–H?Br interactions, in which the water molecules are accommodated between chains formed by the ligand and [Cu2Br4]2?. Structure stability, thermal analysis, and photoluminescent properties were studied for 1–4.  相似文献

The present work describes the preparation and characterization of some metal ion complexes derived from 4-formylpyridine-4 N-(2-pyridyl)thiosemicarbazone (HFPTS). The complexes have the formula; [Cd(HFPTS)2H2O]Cl2, [CoCl2(HPTS)]·H2O, [Cu2Cl4(HPTS)]·H2O, [Fe (HPTS)2Cl2]Cl·3H2O, [Hg(HPTS)Cl2]·4H2O, [Mn(HPTS)Cl2]·5H2O, [Ni(HPTS)Cl2]·2H2O, [UO2(FPTS)2(H2O)]·3H2O. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, spectral (IR, 1H-NMR and UV–Vis), thermal and magnetic moment measurements. The neutral bidentate coordination mode is major for the most investigated complexes. A mononegative bidentate for UO2(II), and neutral tridentate for Cu(II). The tetrahedral arrangement is proposed for most investigated complexes. The biological investigation displays the toxic activity of Hg(II) and UO2(II) complexes, whereas the ligand displays the lowest inhibition activity toward the most investigated microorganisms.  相似文献

Four linear trinuclear transition metal complexes have been prepared and characterized. The complexes [MII(MeOH)4][FeIII(L)2]2·2MeOH (M = Fe (1) or Ni (2)), [CoII(EtOH)2(H2O)2][FeIII(L)2]2·2EtOH (3), and [MnII(phen)2][MnIII(L)2]2·4MeOH (4) (H2L = ((2-carboxyphenyl)azo)-benzaldoxime, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) possesses a similar synanti carboxylate-bridged structure. The terminal Fe(III) or Mn(III) ions are low spin, and the central M(II) ions are high spin. Magnetic measurements show that antiferromagnetic interactions were present between the adjacent metal ions via the synanti carboxylate bridges. The antiferromagnetic coupling between low-spin Fe(III) and Ni(II) is unusual, which has been tentatively assigned to the structural distortion of Fe(III).  相似文献

[Ag(dppam)2]NO3 ( 1 ), [Au(dppam)2]Cl ( 2 ), and [Cu(dppam)2]Cl ( 3 ) complexes have been isolated as colorless solids, whereas [CoCl2(dppam)] ( 4 ) complex as a blue solid. All complexes have been characterized by atomic absorption, FT‐IR, NMR (1H, 13C, 31P) spectroscopic, thermogravimetric/differantial thermal analysis (TG/DTA), and elemental analysis techniques. Antimicrobial activity of 1 , 2 , 3 , and 4 were studied in vitro on 13 bacteria and 4 yeasts. N′-(4′-Benzo[15-crown-5]naphthylaminoglyoxime (H2L) and its sodium chloride complex (H2L·NaCl) have been prepared from 2-naphthylchloroglyoxime, 4′-aminobenzo[15-crown-5] and sodium bicarbonate or sodium bicarbonate and sodium chloride. Nickel(II), cobalt(II) and copper(II) complexes of H2L and H2L·NaCl have a metal–ligand ratio of 1:2 and the ligand coordinates through the two N atoms, as do most of the vic-dioximes. The BF 2 + -capped Ni(II), Co(III) and mononuclear complexes of thevic-dioxime were prepared. The macrocyclic ligands and their transition metal complexes have been characterized on the basis of IR, 1H NMR spectroscopy and elemental analyses data.  相似文献

In this paper, we have illustrated the utilisation of a second-sphere coordination approach to construct supramolecular inclusion solids with varieties of guest molecules. A flexible molecule N,N,N′,N′-tetra-p-methylbenzyl-ethylenediamine (L1) bearing doubly protonated H-bond donors was designed, capable of forming N–H…Cl hydrogen bonds with a crystallographically unique chloride anion, to construct an anion-directed ligand. The pillared double-layered host framework was constructed by an anion-directed ligand and primary coordination sphere [CoCl4]2 ?  through weak C–H…Cl hydrogen-bonding interactions. A variety of guest molecules, such as p-anisaldehyde, 1,4-dimethoxy-2,5-bis(methoxymethyl)benzene, can be included, leading to the formation of novel supramolecular inclusion solids: [L1]·4[H]+·[CoCl4]2 ? ·2Cl·1.5[C8H8O2]·0.25[CH3OH] (1) and [L1]·4[H]+·[CoCl4]2 ? ·2Cl·1.5[C12H20O4]·0.5[CH3OH] (2).

We have presented herein the utilisation of a second-sphere coordination approach to construct supramolecular inclusion solids with a variety of guest molecules. A novel type of a pillared double-layered host framework was constructed by a second-sphere coordination between the anion-directed ligand (L1 = N,N,N′,N′-tetra-p-methylbenzyl-ethylenediamine) and [CoCl4]2 ?  through weak C–H…Cl hydrogen-bonding interaction, and a variety of guest molecules, such as p-anisaldehyde, 1,4-dimethoxy-2,5-bis(methoxymethyl)benzene, can be included, leading to the formation of supramolecular inclusion solids: [L1]·4[H]+·[CoCl4]2 ? ·2Cl·1.5[C8H8O2]·0.25[CH3OH] (1) and [L1]·4[H]+·[CoCl4]2 ? ·2Cl·1.5[C12H20O4]·0.5[CH3OH] (2)

Background

Hydrazones and their metal complexes were heavily studied due to their pharmacological applications such as antimicrobial, anticonvulsant analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer agents. This work aims to synthesize and characterize novel complexes of VO2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Zr4+and Pd2+ ions with oxalo bis(2,3-butanedione-hydrazone). Single crystals of the ligand have been grown and analyzed.

Results

Oxalo bis(2,3-butanedionehydrazone) [OBH] has a monoclinic crystal with P 1 21/n 1 space group. The VO2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Zr4+ and Pd2+ complexes have the formulas: [VO(OBH–H)2]·H2O, [Co(OBH)2Cl]Cl·½EtOH, [Ni2(OBH)Cl4]·H2O·EtOH, [Cu(OBH)2Cl2]·2H2O, [Zn(OBH–H)2], [Zr(OBH)Cl4]·2H2O, and [Pd2(OBH)(H2O)2Cl4]·2H2O. All complexes are nonelectrolytes except [Co(OBH)2Cl]Cl·½EtOH. OBH ligates as: neutral tetradentate (NNOO) in the Ni2+ and Pd2+ complexes; neutral bidentate (OO) in [Co(OBH)2Cl]Cl·½EtOH, [Zr(OBH)Cl4]·2H2O and [Cu(OBH)2Cl2]·2H2O and monobasic bidentate (OO) in the Zn2+ and VO2+ complexes. The NMR (1H and 13C) spectra support these data. The results proved a tetrahedral for the Zn2+ complex; square-planar for Pd2+; mixed stereochemistry for Ni2+; square-pyramid for Co2+ and VO2+ and octahedral for Cu2+ and Zr4+ complexes. The TGA revealed the outer and inner solvents as well as the residual part. The molecular modeling of [Ni2(OBH)Cl4]·H2O·EtOH and [Co(OBH)2Cl]Cl·½EtOH are drawn and their molecular parameters proved that the presence of two metals stabilized the complex more than the mono metal. The complexes have variable activities against some bacteria and fungi. [Zr(OBH)Cl4]·2H2O has the highest activity. [Co(OBH)2Cl]Cl·½EtOH has more activity against Fusarium.

Conclusion

Oxalo bis(2,3-butanedionehydrazone) structure was proved by X-ray crystallography. It coordinates with some transition metal ions as neutral bidentate; mononegative bidentate and neutral tetradentate. The complexes have tetrahedral, square-planar and/or octahedral structures. The VO2+ and Co2+ complexes have square-pyramid structure. [Cu(OBH)2Cl2]·2H2O and [Ni2(OBH)Cl4]·H2O·EtOH decomposed to their oxides while [VO(OBH–H)2]·H2O to vanadium. The energies obtained from molecular modeling calculation for [Ni2(OBH)Cl4]·H2O·EtOH are less than those for [Co(OBH)2Cl]Cl·½EtOH indicating the two metals stabilized the complex more than mono metal. The Co(II) complex is polar molecule while the Ni(II) is non-polar.

In this paper, we have used the hydrogen-bonding interactions, combining the designed diamine ligands and anionic metal chlorides, into the construction of a series of new pillar-layered supramolecular complexes. The flexible molecule N,N,N′,N′-tetra-p-methoxybenzyl-ethylenediamine (L1) bearing doubly protonated H-bond donors, has been synthesized and reacted with the metal chlorides (such as [PdCl4]2?, [FeCl4]? and [CoCl4]2?) via weak C–H···Cl interactions, yielding crystal products [H2 L1]2+·Cl?·[FeCl4]? (1), 0.5H2O ? [H2 L1]2+·Cl?·0.5[PdCl4]2? (2) and [2-hydroxy naphthyl]1.5 ? 2[H2 L1]2+·2Cl?·[CoCl4]2? (3). The 3-D networks are organic double layers formed by the self-assembly of the ligands through extensive hydrogen-bonding interactions (C–H···O or C–H···π interactions) and further interconnected by [PdCl4]2?/[FeCl4]?/[CoCl4]2? in a pillar fashion, constructing into pillar-layered networks with channels accessible to various guest molecules. The inclusion property of [H2 L1][CoCl4] was studied, varieties of guest molecules, such as 2-hydroxy naphthyl, phenanthrene and hydroquinone, can be included in the framework.  相似文献

Summary The reaction of dichlorotetrakis(pyridine)cobalt(III) chloride. [CoCl2(Py)4]Cl, with alkyl- or arylamines in EtOH or i-PrOH yielded [CoCl2(Py)2] in all cases. This reduction of CoIII to CoII takes place only in the presence of the amines. [CoCl2(Py)2] in EtOH is oxidized by Cl2 gas and in the presence of pyridine gives [CoCl2(Py)4] +, while in pyridine alone [CoCl2(Py)4] is formed.  相似文献

A first preliminary report on the crystal structure of a hydrated salt formulated as [Ge(taci)2]Cl4·13H2O (taci is 1,3,5‐triamino‐1,3,5‐trideoxy‐cis‐inositol) appeared more than 20 years ago [Ghisletta (1994). PhD thesis, ETH Zürich. Switzerland]. At that time it was not possible to discriminate unambiguously between the positions of some of the chloride ions and water O atoms, and disorder was thus postulated. In a new determination, a conclusive scheme of hydrogen bonding proves to be a particularly appealing aspect of the structure. Single crystals of the title compound, C12H30GeN6O64+·4Cl·6H2O or [Ge(taci)2]2Cl8·12H2O, were grown from an aqueous solution by slow evaporation of the solvent. The two [Ge(taci)2]4+ cations exhibit a double‐adamantane‐type structure with exclusive O‐atom coordination and approximate D3d symmetry. The taci ligands adopt a zwitterionic form with deprotonated hydroxy groups and protonated amino groups. Both cations are hydrogen bonded to six water molecules. The structure of the hydration shell of the two cations is, however, slightly different. The {[Ge(taci)2]·6H2O}4+ aggregates are interlinked in all three dimensions by further hydrogen bonds of the types N—H...Cl...H—N, N—H...O(H)2...H—N, (Ge)O...H—O(H)...H—N, N—H...O(H)—H...Cl...H—N, (Ge)O...H—O—H...Cl...H—N, N—H...O(H)—H...Cl...H—(H)O...H—N, (Ge)O...H—O—H...Cl...H—(H)O...H—N and Ge(O)...H—O—H...Cl...H—O—H...O(Ge).  相似文献

The three new Cobalt(II) complexes [Co(L1)2(H2O)2] (1), [Co(L2)2(H2O)2] (2), and [Co(L3)2(H2O)2] (3) have been synthesized by interaction of acyl pyrazolone ligands, 4-(4-chlorobenzoyl)3-methyl1-phenyl1H-pyrazole5(4H)-one (HL1), 4-(4-chlorobenzoyl)1-(3-chlorophenyl)3-methyl1H-pyrazole5(4H)-one (HL2) and 5-methyl4-(4-methylbenzoyl)2-phenyl2,4-dihydro3H-pyrazole3-one (HL3) with CoCl2.6H2O. The complexes were screened using FTIR, UV–Vis, TGA, and Single Crystal X-ray diffraction spectroscopic techniques. A relative study of the ligands’ FTIR spectra and their metal complexes reveal the formation, sifting, and disappearance of several bands during complexation. Other interpretations stipulated that these three complexes are mononuclear and exhibited octahedral geometry around Co2+.Triclinic crystal system, Distortion in Octahedral geometry, and Intermolecular hydrogen bonding confirmed by Single-crystal XRD analysis of [Co(L3)2(EtOH)2] complex.  相似文献

Two new zinc(II) and cadmium(II) complexes, [Zn(PDT)2(NCS)2] (1) and [Cd((PDT)2I1.6(H2O)0.4(OH)0.4] · 0.4H2O (2) (“PDT” is the abbreviation of 3-(2-pyridyl)-5, 6-diphenyl-1,2,4-triazine), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR spectroscopy, and studied by X-ray crystallography. Zinc(II) in 1 is six coordinate ZnN6. 2 is a co-crystal with cadmium(II) being 60% six-coordinated with a CdN4I2 environment and 40% seven-coordinated with a CdN4O2I environment. The supramolecular features in these complexes are guided/controlled by weak directional intermolecular S ··· π, C–H ··· π, C–H ··· I, and π ··· π interactions.  相似文献

The room temperature reaction of Na4Sn2S6 · 5H2O with CoCl2 · 6H2O and 2-(aminomethyl)pyridine (2-AMP) or trans-1,2-diamino-cyclohexane (DACH) leads to crystallization of two compounds with the compositions [Co(2-(aminomethyl)pyridine)3]2 Sn2S6 · 10H2O ( 1 ) and [Co(trans-1,2-diaminocyclohexane)3]2Sn2S6 · 8H2O ( 2 ). In both compounds [Sn2S6]4– anions are present that are charge balanced each by two Co2+ centered complexes. Each of the two CoII cations are sixfold coordinated by six N atoms of three 2-AMP or DACH ligands within slightly distorted octahedra. In compound 1 , the two complexes are linked by one [Sn2S6]4– anion via strong N–H ··· S hydrogen bonds into centrosymmetric charge neutral trimeric units, that are further linked by weak C–H ··· S and N–H ··· S hydrogen bonds into chains that are directed along the a axis. These chains are further joined by N–H ··· O and O–H ··· O hydrogen bonds into a 3D network, with the H2O molecules forming chains along the b axis. The crystal structure of 2 is similar to that of 1 featuring trimeric units which are also linked into chains. Between the chains water molecules are embedded that link the chains into a 3D network. Upon heating 2 in a thermobalance the water and ligand molecules are removed in discrete steps, indicating that compounds with more condensed thiostannate networks will form.  相似文献

The coordination chemistry of the water soluble phosphane oxide ligand tris[2‐isopropylimidazol‐4(5)‐yl]phosphane oxide, 4‐TIPOiPr, has been explored. A variety of 3d‐metal halide complexes have been prepared and the crystal structures of the solvates [(4‐TIPOiPr)ZnCl2]·MeOH·1/2dioxane ( 1 ·MeOH·1/2dioxane), [(4‐TIPOiPr)CoCl2]·H2O·2dioxane ( 2 ·H2O·2dioxane) and [(4‐TIPOiPr)2Ni(MeOH)2]Cl2·2MeOH ( 3 ·2MeOH) have been determined. All three structures show unprecedented coordination modes of the 4‐TIPOiPr ligand. Both zinc and cobalt complexes are coordinated in a bidentate κ2N fashion, whereas the nickel atom is coordinated by two ligands in a κN,O mode using one imidazolyl substituent and the P=O oxygen atom.  相似文献

Three mononuclear copper(II) complexes of copper nitrate with 2, 6‐bis(pyrazol‐1‐yl)pyridine ( bPzPy ) and 2, 6‐bis(3′,5′‐dimethylpyrazol‐1‐yl)pyridine ( bdmPzPy ), [Cu(bPzPy)(NO3)2] ( 1 ), [Cu(bPzPy)(H2O)(NO3)2] ( 2 ) and [Cu(bdmPzPy)(NO3)2] ( 3 ) were synthesized by the reaction of copper nitrate with the ligand in ethanol solution. The complexes have been characterized through analytical, spectroscopic and EPR measurements. Single crystal X‐ray structure analysis of complexes 1 and 2 revealed a five‐coordinate copper atom in 1 , whereas 2 contains a six‐coordinate (4+2) CuII ion with molecular units acting as supramolecular nodes. These neutral nodes are connected through O–H ··· O(nitrate) hydrogen bonds to give couples of parallel linear strips assembled in 1D‐chains in a zipper‐like motif.  相似文献

Two different metal complexes of [Co(HL)(L)(Ac)2]·4H2O (I) and [Ni2(L)2(Ac)2]·4H2O (II), have been synthesized with newly prepared amine-imine-oxime ligand [HL = 3-(4′-aminobiphenyl-4-ylimino)-butan-2-one oxime, Ac = CH3COO]. This ligand HL was prepared by the condensation of diacetylmonoxime with benzidine. The structure of the ligand and complexes have been proposed by elemental analyses, IR, 1H, and 13C NMR, electronic spectra, magnetic susceptibility measurements, mass spectra, molar conductivity and thermo gravimetric analysis. The molar conductance measurements of the complexes in DMF solution correspond to non electrolytic nature for the complexes. Octahedral and tetrahedral geometries have been determined to the complexes of Co(III) and binuclear Ni(II) respectively. The ligand and its metal complexes were tested in vitro for their biological effects. Their activities against two gram-positive (Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus) and one fungal specie (Candida albicans) were found. They were inactive against tested gram negative bacteria. The text was submitted by authors in English.  相似文献

The interaction of tin(II) and tin(IV) chlorides with norfloxacin (NOR) has been investigated. Elemental analysis, infrared, mass spectra and thermal analysis have been used to characterize the isolated solid complexes. The results support the formation of complexes with the formula [Sn(NOR)2]Cl2·4H2O and [Sn(NOR)3]Cl4. The infrared spectra of the isolated solid complexes suggested that NOR act as bidentate ligand through the carbonyl oxygen atom and one oxygen atom of the carboxylic group forming six-membered rings with the tin ions. The interpretation, mathematical analysis and evaluation of kinetic parameters of thermogravimetric (TGA) and its differential (DTG), such as entropy of activation, pre-exponential factors, activation energy evaluated by using Coats–Redfern and Horowitz–Metzger equations are carried out for two complexes. The data obtained indicate that the two complexes decompose in one stage and general mechanisms describing the decomposition are suggested. Furthermore, the electronic, and 1H?NMR spectra have been studied.  相似文献

The reaction of the dimeric bis(germylene) [Ge{3,5‐(CF3)2pz}2]2 ( 2 ) with protic molybdenum hydride [Mo(H)Cp(CO)3] yielded two different products. In diethyl ether the divalent germylene readily inserts into the Mo–H σ‐bond and the product of the oxidative addition, [Ge(H){Mo}(pz)2] ( 4 ) (with pz = 3,5‐disubstituted pyrazole, 3,5‐(CF3)2pz; {Mo} = [MoCp(CO)3]), was isolated featuring a germanium(IV) hydride moiety. In toluene an interesting “cascade” reaction takes place furnishing a bis‐metal substituted digermane [{Mo}(H)(pz)Ge–Ge(pz)2{Mo}]. Although the detailed mechanism of the reaction remains the subject of speculation it seems likely that a germylene, [GeII(pz){Mo}], inserts into the germanium(IV) hydrogen bond of [Ge(H){Mo}(pz)2] under formation of a germanium‐germanium bond, which is a rare reaction behaviour.  相似文献

New zinc (II), copper (II), nickel (II) and cobalt (III) complexes, [Zn (HL)2]I2 (1) , [Cu (HL)Cl2] (2) , [Cu (HL)Br2] (3) , [Cu (HL)(H2O)2](ClO4)2 (4) , [Ni (HL)2]I2·H2O (5) , [Co(L)2]Cl (6) , [Co(L)2]NO3 (7) , [Co(L)2]I·[Co(L)2](I3) (8) were obtained with 2-formylpyridine 4-allyl-S-methylisothiosemicarbazone ( HL ). The isothiosemicarbazone ligand was characterized by NMR (1H and 13C), IR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. All the complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV–Vis, ESI-MS spectroscopy, molar conductivity, magnetic susceptibility measurements. X-ray diffraction analysis on the monocrystal and powder elucidated the structure of the complexes 1 , 5 , 7 and 8 . The ligand and the complexes were tested for their antioxidant and antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Candida albicans. Also, the antiproliferative properties of these compounds on human leukemia HL-60, human cervical epithelial HeLa, human epithelial pancreatic adenocarcinoma BxPC-3, human muscle rhabdomyosarcoma spindle, large multinucleated RD cells and normal MDCK cells have been investigated. The nickel complex 5 and cobalt complexes 6 , 7 showed promising antiproliferative activity and low toxicity.  相似文献

The reaction between 2,2′-bis(3-aminopyridyl) diselenide (L) and metal transition salts results in the formation of molecular or cluster complexes. The structural elucidation of the synthesized complexes [CuCl2(L)] ( 1 ), [Cu(3-NH2PySeO2)2]·2H2O ( 2 ), [Cu4(3-NH2PySe)4]·dimethylformamide ( 3 ), [CoCl2(L)] ( 4 ), [ZnCl2(L)] ( 5 ), and [Ag6(3-NH2PySe)6] ( 6 ) demonstrates the coordination of nitrogen atoms to CuII, CoII, and ZnII, and that of the selenium atoms to CuI and AgI, which agrees with Pearson’s hard and soft acids and bases (HSAB) theory. Furthermore, the oxidation of selenium with the formation of 3-aminopyridylseleninate [3-NH2PySeO2] bonded to the copper atom was observed in complex 2 . The antimicrobial action of complexes 1 , 2 , 4 , and 5 was evaluated against Mycobacterium fortuitum, Mycobacterium massiliense, and Mycobacterium abscessus. It was observed that all these complexes have potential antimicrobial activity compared with the free ligand and metal salts used in the synthesis.  相似文献
