The packing chromatic number \(\chi _{\rho }(G)\) of a graph G is the smallest integer k such that the vertex set of G can be partitioned into sets \(V_i\), \(i\in [k]\), where each \(V_i\) is an i-packing. In this paper, we investigate for a given triple (abc) of positive integers whether there exists a graph G such that \(\omega (G) = a\), \(\chi (G) = b\), and \(\chi _{\rho }(G) = c\). If so, we say that (abc) is realizable. It is proved that \(b=c\ge 3\) implies \(a=b\), and that triples \((2,k,k+1)\) and \((2,k,k+2)\) are not realizable as soon as \(k\ge 4\). Some of the obtained results are deduced from the bounds proved on the packing chromatic number of the Mycielskian. Moreover, a formula for the independence number of the Mycielskian is given. A lower bound on \(\chi _{\rho }(G)\) in terms of \(\Delta (G)\) and \(\alpha (G)\) is also proved.  相似文献

Let R be a non-commutative prime ring, Z(R) its center, Q its right Martindale quotient ring, C its extended centroid, \(F\ne 0\) an b-generalized skew derivation of R, L a non-central Lie ideal of R, \(0\ne a\in R\) and \(n\ge 1\) a fixed integer. In this paper, we prove the following two results:
  1. 1.
    If R has characteristic different from 2 and 3 and \(a[F(x),x]^n=0\), for all \(x\in L\), then either there exists an element \(\lambda \in C\), such that \(F(x)=\lambda x\), for all \(x\in R\) or R satisfies \(s_4(x_1,\ldots ,x_4)\), the standard identity of degree 4, and there exist \(\lambda \in C\) and \(b\in Q\), such that \(F(x)=bx+xb+\lambda x\), for all \(x\in R\).

  2. 2.
    If \(\mathrm{{char}}(R)=0\) or \(\mathrm{{char}}(R) > n\) and \(a[F(x),x]^n\in Z(R)\), for all \(x\in R\), then either there exists an element \(\lambda \in C\), such that \(F(x)=\lambda x\), for all \(x\in R\) or R satisfies \(s_4(x_1,\ldots ,x_4)\).

For two given graphs \(G_1\) and \(G_2\), the Ramsey number \(R(G_1,G_2)\) is the least integer r such that for every graph G on r vertices, either G contains a \(G_1\) or \(\overline{G}\) contains a \(G_2\). In this note, we determined the Ramsey number \(R(K_{1,n},W_m)\) for even m with \(n+2\le m\le 2n-2\), where \(W_m\) is the wheel on \(m+1\) vertices, i.e., the graph obtained from a cycle \(C_m\) by adding a vertex v adjacent to all vertices of the \(C_m\).  相似文献

Let p be an odd prime number and \(\ell \) an odd prime number dividing \(p-1\). We denote by \(F=F_{p,\ell }\) the real abelian field of conductor p and degree \(\ell \), and by \(h_F\) the class number of F. For a prime number \(r \ne p,\,\ell \), let \(F_{\infty }\) be the cyclotomic \(\mathbb {Z}_r\)-extension over F, and \(M_{\infty }/F_{\infty }\) the maximal pro-r abelian extension unramified outside r. We prove that \(M_{\infty }\) coincides with \(F_{\infty }\) and consequently \(h_F\) is not divisible by r when r is a primitive root modulo \(\ell \) and r is smaller than an explicit constant depending on p.  相似文献

Let \(X=G/K\) be a symmetric space of noncompact type and rank \(k\ge 2\). We prove that horospheres in X are Lipschitz \((k-2)\)-connected if their centers are not contained in a proper join factor of the spherical building of X at infinity. As a consequence, the distortion dimension of an irreducible \(\mathbb {Q}\)-rank-1 lattice \(\Gamma \) in a linear, semisimple Lie group G of \(\mathbb R\)-rank k is \(k-1\). That is, given \(m< k-1\), a Lipschitz m-sphere S in (a polyhedral complex quasi-isometric to) \(\Gamma \), and a \((m+1)\)-ball B in X (or G) filling S, there is a \((m+1)\)-ball \(B'\) in \(\Gamma \) filling S such that \({{\mathrm{vol}}}B'\sim {{\mathrm{vol}}}B\). In particular, such arithmetic lattices satisfy Euclidean isoperimetric inequalities up to dimension \(k-1\).  相似文献

Let q be a power of a prime p, and let \(r=nk+1\) be a prime such that \(r\not \mid q\), where n and k are positive integers. Under a simple condition on q, r and k, a Gauss period of type (nk) is a normal element of \({\mathbb {F}}_{q}^{n}\) over \({\mathbb {F}}_q\); the complexity of the resulting normal basis of \({\mathbb {F}}_{q}^{n}\) over \({\mathbb {F}}_q\) is denoted by C(nkp). Recent works determined C(nkp) for \(k\le 7\) and all qualified n and q. In this paper, we show that for any given \(k>0\), C(nkp) is given by an explicit formula except for finitely many primes \(r=nk+1\) and the exceptional primes are easily determined. Moreover, we describe an algorithm that allows one to compute C(nkp) for the exceptional primes \(r=nk+1\). Our numerical results cover C(nkp) for \(k\le 20\) and all qualified n and q.  相似文献

Let R be a commutative ring with a nonzero identity element. For a natural number n, we associate a simple graph, denoted by \(\Gamma ^n_R\), with \(R^n\backslash \{0\}\) as the vertex set and two distinct vertices X and Y in \(R^n\) being adjacent if and only if there exists an \(n\times n\) lower triangular matrix A over R whose entries on the main diagonal are nonzero and one of the entries on the main diagonal is regular such that \(X^TAY=0\) or \(Y^TAX=0\), where, for a matrix \(B, B^T\) is the matrix transpose of B. If \(n=1\), then \(\Gamma ^n_R\) is isomorphic to the zero divisor graph \(\Gamma (R)\), and so \(\Gamma ^n_R\) is a generalization of \(\Gamma (R)\) which is called a generalized zero divisor graph of R. In this paper, we study some basic properties of \(\Gamma ^n_ R\). We also determine all isomorphic classes of finite commutative rings whose generalized zero divisor graphs have genus at most three.  相似文献

Let \(\Gamma \) denote a bipartite distance-regular graph with vertex set X, diameter \(D \ge 4\), and valency \(k \ge 3\). Let \({{\mathbb {C}}}^X\) denote the vector space over \({{\mathbb {C}}}\) consisting of column vectors with entries in \({{\mathbb {C}}}\) and rows indexed by X. For \(z \in X\), let \({{\widehat{z}}}\) denote the vector in \({{\mathbb {C}}}^X\) with a 1 in the z-coordinate, and 0 in all other coordinates. Fix a vertex x of \(\Gamma \) and let \(T = T(x)\) denote the corresponding Terwilliger algebra. Assume that up to isomorphism there exist exactly two irreducible T-modules with endpoint 2, and they both are thin. Fix \(y \in X\) such that \(\partial (x,y)=2\), where \(\partial \) denotes path-length distance. For \(0 \le i,j \le D\) define \(w_{ij}=\sum {{\widehat{z}}}\), where the sum is over all \(z \in X\) such that \(\partial (x,z)=i\) and \(\partial (y,z)=j\). We define \(W=\mathrm{span}\{w_{ij} \mid 0 \le i,j \le D\}\). In this paper we consider the space \(MW=\mathrm{span}\{mw \mid m \in M, w \in W\}\), where M is the Bose–Mesner algebra of \(\Gamma \). We observe that MW is the minimal A-invariant subspace of \({{\mathbb {C}}}^X\) which contains W, where A is the adjacency matrix of \(\Gamma \). We show that \(4D-6 \le \mathrm{dim}(MW) \le 4D-2\). We display a basis for MW for each of these five cases, and we give the action of A on these bases.  相似文献

An interassociate of a semigroup \((S,\cdot )\) is a semigroup \((S, *)\) such that for all \(a, b, c \in S\), \(a\cdot (b*c)=(a\cdot b) *c\) and \(a*(b\cdot c)=(a*b) \cdot c\). We investigate the bicyclic semigroup C and its interassociates. In particular, if p and q are the generators of the bicyclic semigroup and m and n are fixed nonnegative integers, the operation \(a*_{m,n} b= aq^mp^n b\) is known to be an interassociate. We show that for distinct pairs (mn) and (st), the interassociates \((C, *_{m,n})\) and \((C, *_{s,t})\) are not isomorphic. We also generalize a result regarding homomorphisms on C to homomorphisms on its interassociates.  相似文献

In this paper, we show that for a positive operator A on a Hilbert \(C^*\)-module \( \mathscr {E} \), the range \( \mathscr {R}(A) \) of A is closed if and only if \( \mathscr {R}(A^\alpha ) \) is closed for all \(\alpha \in (0,1)\cup (1,+\,\infty )\), and this occurs if and only if \( \mathscr {R}(A)=\mathscr {R}(A^\alpha ) \) for all \(\alpha \in (0,1)\cup (1,+\,\infty )\). As an application, we prove that for an adjontable operator A if \(\mathscr {R}(A)\) is nonclosed, then \(\dim \left( \overline{\mathscr {R}(A)}/\mathscr {R}(A)\right) =+\,\infty \). Finally, we show that for an adjointable operator A if \( \overline{\mathscr {R}(A^*) } \) is orthogonally complemented in \( \mathscr {E} \), then under certain coditions there exists an idempotent C and a unique operator X such that \( XAX=X, AXA=CA, AX=C \) and \( XA=P_{A^*} \), where \( P_{A^*} \) is the orthogonal projection of \( \mathscr {E} \) onto \( \overline{\mathscr {R}(A^*)}\).  相似文献

In this paper, we study the torsion subgroup and rank of elliptic curves for the subfamilies of \(E_{m,p} : y^2=x^3-m^2x+p^2\), where m is a positive integer and p is a prime. We prove that for any prime p, the torsion subgroup of \(E_{m,p}(\mathbb {Q})\) is trivial for both the cases {\(m\ge 1\), \(m\not \equiv 0\pmod 3\)} and {\(m\ge 1\), \(m \equiv 0 \pmod 3\), with \(gcd(m,p)=1\)}. We also show that given any odd prime p and for any positive integer m with \(m\not \equiv 0\pmod 3\) and \(m\equiv 2\pmod {32}\), the lower bound for the rank of \(E_{m,p}(\mathbb {Q})\) is 2. Finally, we find curves of rank 9 in this family.  相似文献

In this text we show that the deformation space of a nodal surface X of degree d is smooth and of the expected dimension if \(d\le 7\) or \(d\ge 8\) and X has at most \(4d-5\) nodes (The case \(d\le 7\) was previously covered by Alexandru Dimca using different techniques). For \(d\ge 8\) we give explicit examples of nodal surfaces with \(4d-4\) nodes, for which the tangent space to the deformation space has larger dimension than expected.  相似文献

The \(L^1\)-Sobolev inequality states that for compactly supported functions u on the Euclidean n-space, the \(L^{n/(n-1)}\)-norm of a compactly supported function is controlled by the \(L^1\)-norm of its gradient. The generalization to differential forms (due to Lanzani and Stein and Bourgain and Brezis) is recent, and states that a the \(L^{n/(n-1)}\)-norm of a compactly supported differential h-form is controlled by the \(L^1\)-norm of its exterior differential du and its exterior codifferential \(\delta u\) (in special cases the \(L^1\)-norm must be replaced by the \(\mathcal H^1\)-Hardy norm). We shall extend this result to Heisenberg groups in the framework of an appropriate complex of differential forms.  相似文献

Let D, \(D'\) be arbitrary domains in \({\mathbb C}^n\) and \({\mathbb C}^N\) respectively, \(1<n\le N\), both possibly unbounded and \(M \subseteq \partial D\), \(M'\subseteq \partial D'\) be open pieces of the boundaries. Suppose that \(\partial D\) is smooth real-analytic and minimal in an open neighborhood of \({\bar{M}}\) and \(\partial D'\) is smooth real-algebraic and minimal in an open neighborhood of \({\bar{M}'}\). Let \(f: D\rightarrow D'\) be a holomorphic mapping such that the cluster set \(\mathrm{cl}_{f}(M)\) does not intersect \(D'\). It is proved that if the cluster set \(\mathrm{cl}_{f}(p)\) of some point \(p\in M\) contains some point \(q\in M'\) and the graph of f extends as an analytic set to a neighborhood of \((p, q)\in {\mathbb {C}}^n \times {\mathbb C}^N\), then f extends as a holomorphic map to a dense subset of some neighborhood of p. If in addition, \(M =\partial D\), \(M'=\partial D'\) and \(M'\) is compact, then f extends holomorphically across an open dense subset of \(\partial D\).  相似文献

A pure Mendelsohn triple system of order v, denoted by PMTS(v), is a pair \((X,\mathcal {B})\) where X is a v-set and \(\mathcal {B}\) is a collection of cyclic triples on X such that every ordered pair of X belongs to exactly one triple of \(\mathcal {B}\) and if \(\langle a,b,c\rangle \in \mathcal {B}\) implies \(\langle c,b,a\rangle \notin \mathcal {B}\). An overlarge set of PMTS(v), denoted by OLPMTS(v), is a collection \(\{(Y{\setminus }\{y_i\},{\mathcal {A}}_i)\}_i\), where Y is a \((v+1)\)-set, \(y_i\in Y\), each \((Y{\setminus }\{y_i\},{\mathcal {A}}_i)\) is a PMTS(v) and these \({\mathcal {A}}_i\)s form a partition of all cyclic triples on Y. It is shown in [3] that there exists an OLPMTS(v) for \(v\equiv 1,3\) (mod 6), \(v>3\), or \(v \equiv 0,4\) (mod 12). In this paper, we shall discuss the existence problem of OLPMTS(v)s for \(v\equiv 6,10\) (mod 12) and get the following conclusion: there exists an OLPMTS(v) if and only if \(v\equiv 0,1\) (mod 3), \(v>3\) and \(v\ne 6\).  相似文献

For \(q,n,d \in \mathbb {N}\), let \(A_q(n,d)\) be the maximum size of a code \(C \subseteq [q]^n\) with minimum distance at least d. We give a divisibility argument resulting in the new upper bounds \(A_5(8,6) \le 65\), \(A_4(11,8)\le 60\) and \(A_3(16,11) \le 29\). These in turn imply the new upper bounds \(A_5(9,6) \le 325\)\(A_5(10,6) \le 1625\)\(A_5(11,6) \le 8125\) and \(A_4(12,8) \le 240\). Furthermore, we prove that for \(\mu ,q \in \mathbb {N}\), there is a 1–1-correspondence between symmetric \((\mu ,q)\)-nets (which are certain designs) and codes \(C \subseteq [q]^{\mu q}\) of size \(\mu q^2\) with minimum distance at least \(\mu q - \mu \). We derive the new upper bounds \(A_4(9,6) \le 120\) and \(A_4(10,6) \le 480\) from these ‘symmetric net’ codes.  相似文献

Given a weighted graph G on \(n + 1\) vertices, a spanning K-tree \(T_K\) of G is defined to be a spanning tree T of G together with K distinct edges of G that are not edges of T. The objective of the minimum-cost spanning K-tree problem is to choose a subset of edges to form a spanning K-tree with the minimum weight. In this paper, we consider the constructing spanning K-tree problem that is a generalization of the minimum-cost spanning K-tree problem. We are required to construct a spanning K-tree \(T_K\) whose \(n+K\) edges are assembled from some stock pieces of bounded length L. Let \(c_0\) be the sale price of each stock piece of length L and \(k(T_K)\) the number of minimum stock pieces to construct the \(n+K\) edges in \(T_K\). For each edge e in G, let c(e) be the construction cost of that edge e. Our new objective is to minimize the total cost of constructing a spanning K-tree \(T_K\), i.e., \(\min _{T_K}\{\sum _{e\in T_K} c(e)+ k(T_K)\cdot c_0\}\). The main results obtained in this paper are as follows. (1) A 2-approximation algorithm to solve the constructing spanning K-tree problem. (2) A \(\frac{3}{2}\)-approximation algorithm to solve the special case for constant construction cost of edges. (3) An APTAS for this special case.  相似文献

In an earlier paper, we introduced the following pre-order on the subgroups of a given Polish group: if G is a Polish group and \(H,L \subseteq G\) are subgroups, we say H is homomorphism reducible to L iff there is a continuous group homomorphism \(\varphi : G \rightarrow G\) such that \(H = \varphi ^{-1} (L)\). We previously showed that there is a \(K_\sigma \) subgroup L of the countable power of any locally compact Polish group G such that every \(K_\sigma \) subgroup of \(G^\omega \) is homomorphism reducible to L. In the present work, we show that this fails in the countable power of the group of increasing homeomorphisms of the unit interval.  相似文献
