Inhomogeneous broadening (IHB) of hyperfine interactions in materials arises from a distribution of electric field gradients (EFGs) due to randomly distributed defects contributing non-uniformly to the EFG at probe sites. Hyperfine experiments reflect the inhomogeneous distribution of defects through the joint probability distribution function (PDF) of Vzz and η determined by the defect concentration, crystal structure, and defect sites in the crystal. Czjzek showed how to choose coordinates in the (Vzz, η) plane that are consistent with the physical constraints and ordering convention for these EFG parameters. Here we show how to transform to a new set of coordinates that decreases the distortion inherent in Czjzek’s representation. These new coordinates allow one to express the joint PDF for random distributions of defects in a form reasonably approximated by the product of two independent marginal distributions. This paper focuses on these topologically appropriate coordinates, with simple examples drawn from Czjzek’s work and from our simulations of point defects in cubic lattices as well as random amorphous distributions of defects. Detailed simulations have been carried out for IHB in cubic structures and point charge models relevant to perturbed angular correlation (PAC) experiments.  相似文献

In the field of condensed matter physics, specific heat measurements can be considered as a pivotal experimental technique for characterizing the fundamental excitations involved in a certain phase transition. Indeed, phase transitions involving spin (de Souza et al. Phys. B Condens. Matter 404, 494 (2009) and Manna et al. Phys. Rev. Lett. 104, 016403 (2010)), charge (Pregelj et al. Phys. Rev. B 82, 144438 (2010)), lattice (Jesche et al. Phys. Rev. B 81, 134525 (2010)) (phonons) and orbital degrees of freedom, the interplay between ferromagnetism and superconductivity (Jesche et al. Phys. Rev. B 86, 020501 (2012)), Schottky-like anomalies in doped compounds (Lagos et al. Phys. C Supercond. 309, 170 (1998)), electronic levels in finite correlated systems (Macedo and Lagos J. Magn. Magn. Mater. 226, 105 (2001)), among other features, can be captured by means of high-resolution calorimetry. Furthermore, the entropy change associated with a first-order phase transition, no matter its nature, can be directly obtained upon integrating the specific heat over T, i.e., C(T)/T, in the temperature range of interest. Here, we report on a detailed analysis of the two-peak specific heat anomalies observed in several materials. Employing a simple multilevel model, varying the spacing between the energy levels Δi = (Ei?E0) and the degeneracy of each energy level gi, we derive the required conditions for the appearance of such anomalies. Our findings indicate that a ratio of \({\Delta }_{2}/{\Delta }_{1}\thickapprox \) 10 between the energy levels and a high degeneracy of one of the energy levels define the two-peaks regime in the specific heat. Our approach accurately matches recent experimental results. Furthermore, using a mean-field approach, we calculate the specific heat of a degenerate Schottky-like system undergoing a ferromagnetic (FM) phase transition. Our results reveal that as the degeneracy is increased the Schottky maximum in the specific heat becomes narrow while the peak associated with the FM transition remains unaffected.  相似文献

The effect of selfabsorption in Mössbauer sources is studied in detail. Spectra were measured using an old 57 C o/R h source of 74M B q activity with an original activity of ca. 3.7G B q and a 0.15G B q 57 C o/α ? F e source magnetized by an in-plane magnetic field of 0.2 T. The 57 C o/α ? F e source of a thickness of 25 μ was used both from the active and the inactive side giving cause to very different selfabsorption effects. The absorber was a single crystal of ferrous ammonium sulphate hexahydrate (FAS). Its absorption properties were taken over from a detailed study (Bull et al., Hyperfine Interact. 94(1–3), 1; Spiering et al. 2). FAS (space group P21/c) crystallizes as flat plates containing the (\(\overline {2}\)01) plane. The γ-direction was orthogonal to the crystal plate. The 57 C o atoms of the 57 C o/R h source were assumed to be homogeneously distributed over a 6μ thick Rh foil and to follow a one dimensional diffusion profile in the 25 μ Fe-foil. The diffusion length was fitted to 10 μ. The theory follows the Blume-Kistner equations for forward scattering (Blume and Kistner, Phys. Rev. 171, 417, 3) by integrating over the source sampled up to 128 layers.  相似文献

Following notation introduced in the recent paper (Rossi Int. J. Geom. Methods Mod. Phys. 12(5), 2015), this paper is aimed to present in detail an example of a small geometric transition which is not a simple one i.e. a deformation of a conifold transition. This is realized by means of a detailed analysis of the Kuranishi space of a Namikawa cuspidal fiber product, which in particular improves the conclusion of Y. Namikawa in Remark 2.8 and Example 1.11 of Namikawa (Topology 41(6), 1219–1237, 2002). The physical interest of this example is presenting a geometric transition which can’t be immediately explained as a massive black hole condensation to a massless one, as described by Strominger (Nucl. Phys. B451, 97–109, 1995).  相似文献

We show that by adding a workspace qubit to Ahmed Younes, et al. algorithm (Younes et al. AIP Conf. Proc. 734:171, 2004, 2008), and applying newly defined partial diffusion operators on subsystems, the algorithm’s performance is improved. We consider an unstructured list of N items and M matches, 1 ≤ MN.  相似文献

The set of three static spherically symmetric solutions of the Einstein–Maxwell field equations by Maurya and Gupta, Astrophys. Space Sci.333, 149 (2011) are modified by introducing the variable cosmological term. Motivated by Tiwari et al, Indian J. Pure Appl. Math.31, 1017 (2000), some particular values of the cosmological term are taken to obtain well-behaved solutions of the Einstein–Maxwell field equations. All the results given by Maurya and Gupta can be obtained as particular cases of our solutions by choosing a cosmological term equal to zero.  相似文献

In this paper, we have studied the solutions of plane-symmetric Universe with variable ω in the presence and the absence of magnetic field of energy density ρ B . A special law of variation for Hubble’s parameter proposed by Bermann in Nuovo Cimento B 74, 182 (1983) has been utilized to solve the field equations. Some physical and kinematical properties of the models are also discussed.  相似文献

We consider the long time, large scale behavior of the Wigner transform W ? (t,x,k) of the wave function corresponding to a discrete wave equation on a 1-d integer lattice, with a weak multiplicative noise. This model has been introduced in Basile et al. in Phys. Rev. Lett. 96 (2006) to describe a system of interacting linear oscillators with a weak noise that conserves locally the kinetic energy and the momentum. The kinetic limit for the Wigner transform has been shown in Basile et al. in Arch. Rat. Mech. 195(1):171–203 (2009). In the present paper we prove that in the unpinned case there exists γ 0>0 such that for any γ∈(0,γ 0] the weak limit of W ? (t/? 3/2γ ,x/? γ ,k), as ??1, satisfies a one dimensional fractional heat equation \(\partial_{t} W(t,x)=-\hat{c}(-\partial_{x}^{2})^{3/4}W(t,x)\) with \(\hat{c}>0\). In the pinned case an analogous result can be claimed for W ? (t/? 2γ ,x/? γ ,k) but the limit satisfies then the usual heat equation.  相似文献

In PramanaJ. Phys.75, 683 (2010), Gunasekaran et al reported that they have grown the nonlinear optical crystals, urea thiourea mercuric chloride (UTHC) and urea thiourea mercuric sulphate (UTHS). We argue that UTHC and UTHS are dubious crystals and are not what the authors propose.  相似文献

Two quantum key agreement protocols using Bell states and Bell measurement were recently proposed by Shukla et al. (Quantum Inf. Process. 13(11), 2391–2405, 2014). However, Zhu et al. pointed out that there are some security flaws and proposed an improved version (Quantum Inf. Process. 14(11), 4245–4254, 2015). In this study, we will show Zhu et al.’s improvement still exists some security problems, and its efficiency is not high enough. For solving these problems, we utilize four Pauli operations {I, Z, X, Y} to encode two bits instead of the original two operations {I, X} to encode one bit, and then propose an efficient and secure arbitrary N-party quantum key agreement protocol. In the protocol, the channel checking with decoy single photons is introduced to avoid the eavesdropper’s flip attack, and a post-measurement mechanism is used to prevent against the collusion attack. The security analysis shows the present protocol can guarantee the correctness, security, privacy and fairness of quantum key agreement.  相似文献

In this paper we prove, with details and in full generality, that the isomorphism induced on tangent homology by the Shoikhet-Tsygan formality L -quasi-isomorphism for Hochschild chains is compatible with cap-products. This is a homological analogue of the compatibility with cup-products of the isomorphism induced on tangent cohomology by Kontsevich formality L -quasi-isomorphism for Hochschild cochains. As in the cohomological situation our proof relies on a homotopy argument involving a variant of Kontsevich eye. In particular, we clarify the rôle played by the I-cube introduced in Calaque and Rossi (SIGMA 4, paper 060, 17 2008). Since we treat here the case of a most possibly general Maurer–Cartan element, not forced to be a bidifferential operator, we take this opportunity to recall the natural algebraic structures on the pair of Hochschild cochain and chain complexes of an A -algebra. In particular we prove that they naturally inherit the structure of an A -algebra with an A -(bi)module.  相似文献

We propose a model for charged anisotropic star in de Sitter spacetime. We have taken Krori and Barua (J. Phys. A, Math. Gen. 8, 508, 1975) metric in de Sitter spacetime with non-zero cosmological constant. The model is free from singularity. We incorporate the existence of the cosmological constant on a small scale to study the structure of anisotropic charged star. To solve the Einstein-Maxwell field equations we assume the relation between the radial and transverse pressure as p t ?p r =g q(r)2 r 2 (where g is a non-zero positive constant). The physical conditions inside the stellar model are also discussed.  相似文献

We observe [Launois and Lecoutre, Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 368:755–785, 2016, Proposition 4.1] that Poisson polynomial extensions appear as semiclassical limits of a class of Ore extensions. As an application, a Poisson generalized Weyl algebra A1, considered as a Poisson version of the quantum generalized Weyl algebra, is constructed and its Poisson structures are studied. In particular, a necessary and sufficient condition is obtained, such that A1 is Poisson simple and established that the Poisson endomorphisms of A1 are Poisson analogues of the endomorphisms of the quantum generalized Weyl algebra.  相似文献

We simulate the dynamics of spin-2 87Rb condensate in a time and space-dependent magnetic field with a time-dependent variational approach. The topological Hall effect is observed, which has been realized in the experiment of spin-1 23Na condensate [Phys. Rev. Lett. 111, 245301 (2013)]. A driving-induced resonance behavior is observed.  相似文献

Consider a system of particles performing branching Brownian motion with negative drift \(\mu= \sqrt{2 - \varepsilon}\) and killed upon hitting zero. Initially there is one particle at x>0. Kesten (Stoch. Process. Appl. 7:9–47, 1978) showed that the process survives with positive probability if and only if ε>0. Here we are interested in the asymptotics as ε→0 of the survival probability Q μ (x). It is proved that if \(L=\pi/\sqrt{\varepsilon}\) then for all x∈?, lim? ε→0 Q μ (L+x)=θ(x)∈(0,1) exists and is a traveling wave solution of the Fisher-KPP equation. Furthermore, we obtain sharp asymptotics of the survival probability when x<L and L?x→∞. The proofs rely on probabilistic methods developed by the authors in (Berestycki et al. in arXiv:1001.2337, 2010). This completes earlier work by Harris, Harris and Kyprianou (Ann. Inst. Henri Poincaré Probab. Stat. 42:125–145, 2006) and confirms predictions made by Derrida and Simon (Europhys. Lett. 78:60006, 2007), which were obtained using nonrigorous PDE methods.  相似文献

A theoretical model is described here for studying the effect of temperature on nanomaterials. The thermodynamic equation of state (EoS) proposed by Goyal and Gupta in High Temp.-High Press. 45, 163 (2016); Oriental J. Chem. 32(4), 2193 (2016), is extended in the present study using Qi and Wang model [Mater. Chem. Phys. 88, 280 (2004)]. The thermal expansion coefficient is expressed in terms of shape and size and used to obtain the isobaric EoS of nanomaterials for the change in volume \(V/{V_0}\). The variation in \(V/{V_0}\) with temperature is estimated for spherical nanoparticles, nanowires and nanofilms. It is found that the volume thermal expansivity decreases as size of the nanomaterial increases, whereas \(V/{V_0}\) increases with temperature across nanomaterials of different sizes. The lattice parameter variation with temperature is studied in Zn nanowires, Se and Ag nanoparticles. It is found that lattice constant increases with increase in temperature. Also, bulk modulus is found to increase with temperature in nanomaterials. The results obtained from the present model are compared with the available experimental data. A good consistency between the compared results confirms the suitability of the present model for studying thermal properties of the nanomaterials.  相似文献

A phenomological model is described here to study the effect of size, shape and phonon scattering on the thermal conductivity of nanostructures. Using the classical model proposed by Guisbiers et al (Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys. 12, 7203 (2010), J. Phys. Chem. C 112, 4097 (2008)) in terms of the melting temperature of nanostructures, the expression for variation of thermal conductivity is obtained in terms of shape and size parameter. An additional term is included in the expression of thermal conductivity to consider the impact of phonon scattering due to the surface roughness with a decrease in size. The expression of thermal conductivity is obtained for spherical nanosolids, nanowires and nanofilms. The thermal conductivity is found to decrease in nanostructures in comparison with the counterpart bulk material. The values of thermal conductivity obtained from the present model are found to be close to the available experimental data for different values of roughness parameter which verifies the suitability of the model.  相似文献

Recently the method based on irreducible representations of finite groups has been proposed as a tool for investigating the more sophisticated versions of Bell inequalities (V. Ugǔr G?ney, M. Hillery, Phys. Rev. A90, 062121 ([2014]) and Phys. Rev. A91, 052110 ([2015])). In the present paper an example based on the symmetry group S 4 is considered. The Bell inequality violation due to the symmetry properties of regular tetrahedron is described. A nonlocal game based on the inequalities derived is described and it is shown that the violation of Bell inequality implies that the quantum strategies outperform their classical counterparts.  相似文献
