Supported by the Sino-German Center for Research Promotion, and organized jointly by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the German Research Foundation (DFG), the third Sino-German workshop on particle fluid systems was held on Oct. 24-312 004 in Beijing, China, following the two previous successful workshops held on Aug. 30-31,1999 in Hamburg,Germany (Li and Werther, Chem. Eng. Technol., 23(4), 378 2000) and May 18-19, 2001 in Beijing, China (Li, Ge,Werther and Bruhns, Chem. Eng. Technol., 24(11), 1097,2001). Thirty-one scientists from China, Germany, Japan and The Netherlands came together for interdisciplinary discussion over the core problem of multi-phase reaction systems in the name of “Chemical and Physical Interactions between Particles and Fluids”.  相似文献

Aerosol pollution in China: Present and future impact on environment   总被引:9,自引:0,他引:9  
With its dense population, rapid economic growth and dramatic rate of urbanization, China is experiencing extreme air pollution problems. This is particularly the case in Central-Eastern China (CEC), where the two major cities of Beijing and Tianjin are located, in the Yangtze-River Delta (YRD) with the city of Shanghai, and in the Pearl-River Delta (PRD) with the mega-city of Gnangzhou. Space observations show that the atmospheric aerosol load in these three regions is considerably higher than, for example, in the urbanized regions of Europe and North America. The high aerosol concentrations in these regions have raised many environmental problems, such as impact on human health, visibility, and climate changes. In this paper, several crucial issues regarding aerosol pollution in these highly populated regions (CEC, YRD, and PRD) are discussed, including (1) when the aerosol load starts to rapidly increase in these regions; (2) how the high aerosol concentrations affects the environment; and (3) what the potential consequences are under possible low aerosol load in these regions. Discussion on these crucial issues might lead to some insight for better understanding of the characterizations of aerosol pollution due to the rapid economical development in China.  相似文献

Prof.Mooson Kwauk,founder and Editor-in-Chief of Particuology, passed away peacefully due to illness on November 20,2012 in Beijing at the age of 92.His funeral was held at Beijing Babaoshan Cemetery on November 26,attended by more than 1000 mourners. Mooson was born in Hanyang,Hubei Province,China,on June 24,1920,and raised in Shanghai.His father was a senior engineer and government official;his mother was a teacher.After graduating from the University of Shanghai with a degree in chemistry in 1943, he completed his master’s degree in chemical engineering under the supervision of Prof.Richard H.Wilhelm at Princeton University in 1946,publishing a paper entitled "Fluidization of Solid Particles" in 1948.It was this paper that was to prove his greatest success in fluidization,classifying the first time two distinctive modes of fluidization:aggregative and particulate. Leaving Princeton,Mooson joined Hydrocarbon Research Inc.in New York in 1946,working as an engineer in the Process Development Department on projects for coal gasification,air separation,  相似文献

An accurate estimation of the total pressure drop of a pipeline is important to the reliable design of a pneumatic conveying system.The present paper presents results from an investigation into the modelling of the pressure drop at a bend in the pneumatic conveying of fly ash.Seven existing bend models were used(in conjunction with solids friction models for horizontal and vertical straight pipes,and initial acceleration losses) to predict the total pipeline pressure drop in conveying fly ash(median particle diameter:30 μm;particle density:2300 kg/m~3;loose-poured bulk density:700 kg/m~3) in three test rigs(pipelines with dimensions of 69 mm inner diameter(I.D.) × 168 m length:105 mm I.D.× 168 m length;69 mm I.D.× 554 m length).A comparison of the pneumatic conveying characteristics(PCC) predicted using the seven bend models and experimental results shows that the predicted total pipeline PCC and trends depend on the choice of bend model.While some models predict trends that agree with the experimental results,other models predicted greater bend pressure drops for the dense phase of fly ash than for the dilute phase.Models of Pan,R.(1992).Improving scale-up procedures for the design of pneumatic conveying systems.Doctoral dissertation,University of Wollongong,Australia.Pan,R., Wypych,P.W.(1998).Dilute and dense phase pneumatic conveying of fly ash.In Proceedings of the sixth International Conference on Bulk Materials Storage and Transportation(pp.183-189),Wollongong,NSW,Australia and Chambers,A.J., Marcus,R.D.(1986).Pneumatic conveying calculations.In Proceedings of the second International Conference on Bulk Materials Storage and Transportation(pp.49-52).Wollongong,Australia reliably predicted the bend losses for systems conveying fly ash over a large range of air flows.  相似文献

A model is developed for the study of mixed- convection film condensation from downward flowing vapors onto a sphere with variable wall temperature. The model combined natural convection dominated and forced convection dominated film condensation, concerning effects of pressure gradient (P), interfacial vapor shear drag and non-uniform wall temperature variation (A), has been investigated and solved numerically. The effect of pressure gradient on the dimensionless mean heat transfer, NuˉRe−1/2 will remain almost uniform with increasing P until for various corresponding available values of F. Meanwhile, the dimensionless mean heat transfer, NuˉRe−1/2 is increasing significantly with F for its corresponding available values of P. Although the non-uniform wall temperature variation has an appreciable influence on the local film flow and heat transfer; however, the dependence of mean heat transfer on A can be almost negligible.
