The method of extended intersecting beams is used for studying inelastic collisions of electrons with cesium fluoride molecules.
Forty-six cross-sections for dissociative excitation of the spectral lines of a cesium atom located in the spectral region
387–825 nm were used. The behavior of the sections in the spectral series of a cesium atom is investigated, which is reflected
by a power law. The values of constants that are parameters in the power-law formula are determined.

The process of formation of excited Cs ions in simple collisions of electrons with CsI molecules was investigated by the method
of extended intersecting beams. Excitation cross sections measured for CsII spectral lines were used in the calculation of
cross sections for excitation of energy levels. The contribution of cascade transitions to the total cross section for excitation
of an energy level was determined for certain levels. Possible ways of formation of Cs+* at low energies of the electrons are discussed.

Detailed information about excitation cross-selections of spectral lines of titanium, zirconium, and hafnium atoms obtained
using extended crossed beams are used for calculation of the excitation cross-sections of the3G0-levels of these atoms. Results are compared with cross-sections calculated in Born’s approximation. For titanium: it is found
that theoretical predictions agree well with experimental data. Differences found for zirconium are explained by the single-configuration
approximation used in the calculation.

Dissociative excitation of the lead atom in e-PbI2 collisions has been studied experimentally. 27 excitation cross sections were measured for an energy of the exciting electrons
equal to 100 eV. Nine optical excitation functions were recorded with variation of the electron energy in the range 0–100
eV. The most probable reaction channels for low electron energies are discussed, as well as the ratio of the dissociative
excitation cross sections for the lead atom in e-PbI2 and e-PbCl2 collisions.

Cross-sections of the4Do-levels of a cobalt atom are determined based on the results of measurements of 880 excitation cross-sections of the CoI spectral
lines. Detailed calculations of branching and cascade population are made for the levels of the terms z4Do, y4Do, and x4Do. Results of the present work and the cross sections calculated by R. K. Peterkop in the Born approximation are shown to be
in good agreement.

The extended crossed-beam method has been used to study excitation of high-lying levels in the tungsten atom. 40 excitation
cross sections of WI spectral lines have been measured for exciting electron energy 50 eV. Two optical excitation functions
were recorded in the electron energy range 0–200 eV. The results obtained were used to calculate the total excitation cross
sections of 24 odd WI energy levels.

Time changes in the intensity of luminescence of zinc sulfide electroluminophores induced by rectangular unidirectional voltage
pulses are considered. The origin of luminescence spikes that are observed under application and removal of voltage is discussed.
Results of studies of these spikes and microscopic observations show that the light spikes observed under application of voltage
can be ascribed to migration of holes that appear in barriers during the previous voltage pulse into the crystal interior.

A degree of coherence of powder-laser radiation of 10–20% is estimated by the magnitude of the image contrast for a speckle,
although cases are recorded where it attains 40–50%. It is found that as the average speckle intensity increases, the contrast
decreases. It is established that the minimum, dimensions of the generation region in powders are 20–30 μm. Cases of existence
of several generation centers simultaneously are noted. An attempt to interpret the results obtained is made.

Collective effects in polarization bremsstrahlung generated by relativistic electrons in a polycrystalline aluminum foil are
studied experimentally on the basis of the 2.4-MeV electron accelerator installed at the Institute of Nuclear Physics (Moscow
State University, Moscow). A peak structure found in this polarization bremsstrahlung for the first time is in agreement with
theoretical predictions.
