Composite penalty method of a low order anisotropic nonconforming quadrilateral finite element for the Stokes problem is presented. This method with a large penalty parameter can achieve the same accuracy as the stand method with a small penalty parameter and the convergence rate of this method is two times as that of the standard method under the condition of the same order penalty parameter. The superconvergence for velocity is established as well. The results of this paper are also valid to the most of the known nonconforming finite element methods. 相似文献

In this paper, we revisit the classical error estimates of nonconforming Crouzeix–Raviart type finite elements for the Stokes equations. By introducing some quasi‐interpolation operators and using the special properties of these nonconforming elements, it is proved that their consistency errors can be bounded by their approximation errors together with a high‐order term, especially which can be of arbitrary order provided that f in the right‐hand side is piecewise smooth enough. Furthermore, we show an interesting result that both in the energy norm and L2 norm the consistency errors are dominated by the approximation errors of their finite element spaces. As byproducts, we derive the error estimates in both energy and L2 norms under the regularity assumption ( u ,p) ∈ H 1 + s(Ω) × Hs(Ω) with any s ∈ (0,1], which fills the gap in the a priori error estimate of these nonconforming elements with low regularity . Furthermore, a robust convergence is proved with minimal regularity assumption s = 0. These results seem to be missing in the literature. Numerical tests are provided, confirming the analysis, especially the new results on the L2 convergence. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

This paper deals with a new nonconforming anisotropic rectangular finite element approximation for the planar elasticity problem with pure displacement boundary condition. By use of the special properties of this element, and by introducing the complementary space and a series of novel techniques, the optimal error estimates of the energy norm and the L^2-norm are obtained. The restrictions of regularity assumption and quasi-uniform assumption or the inverse assumption on the meshes required in the conventional finite element methods analysis are to be got rid of and the applicable scope of the nonconforming finite elements is extended. 相似文献

Directional, anisotropic features like layers in the solution of partial differential equations can be resolved favorably by using anisotropic finite element meshes. An adaptive algorithm for such meshes includes the ingredients Error estimation and Information extraction/Mesh refinement. Related articles on a posteriori error estimation on anisotropic meshes revealed that reliable error estimation requires an anisotropic mesh that is aligned with the anisotropic solution. To obtain anisotropic meshes the so‐called Hessian strategy is used, which provides information such as the stretching direction and stretching ratio of the anisotropic elements. This article combines the analysis of anisotropic information extraction/mesh refinement and error estimation (for several estimators). It shows that the Hessian strategy leads to well‐aligned anisotropic meshes and, consequently, reliable error estimation. The underlying heuristic assumptions are given in a stringent yet general form. Numerical examples strengthen the exposition. Hence the analysis provides further insight into a particular aspect of anisotropic error estimation. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A LOCKING-FREE ANISOTROPIC NONCONFORMING FINITE ELEMENT FOR PLANAR LINEAR ELASTICITY PROBLEM 总被引:1,自引:1,他引:1
The main aim of this article is to study the approximation of a locking-free anisotropic nonconforming finite element for the pure displacement boundary value prob-lem of planar linear elasticity. The optimal error estimates are obtained by using some novel approaches and techniques. The method proposed in this article is robust in the sense that the convergence estimates in the energy and L2-norms are independent of the Lame parameterλ. 相似文献

A multilevel finite element method in space‐time for the two‐dimensional nonstationary Navier‐Stokes problem is considered. The method is a multi‐scale method in which the fully nonlinear Navier‐Stokes problem is only solved on a single coarsest space‐time mesh; subsequent approximations are generated on a succession of refined space‐time meshes by solving a linearized Navier‐Stokes problem about the solution on the previous level. The a priori estimates and error analysis are also presented for the J‐level finite element method. We demonstrate theoretically that for an appropriate choice of space and time mesh widths: hj ~ h, kj ~ k, j = 2, …, J, the J‐level finite element method in space‐time provides the same accuracy as the one‐level method in space‐time in which the fully nonlinear Navier‐Stokes problem is solved on a final finest space‐time mesh. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A lumped mass approximation scheme of a low order Crouzeix-Raviart type noncon- forming triangular finite element is proposed to a kind of nonlinear parabolic integro-differential equations. The L2 error estimate is derived on anisotropic meshes without referring to the traditional nonclassical elliptic projection. 相似文献

In this paper, we present a posteriori error estimator for the nonconforming finite element approximation, including using Crouzeix–Raviart element and extended Crouzeix–Raviart element, of the Stokes eigenvalue problem. With the technique of Helmholtz decomposition, we first give out a posteriori error estimator and prove it as the global upper bound and local lower bound of the approximation error. Then, by deleting a jump term in the indicator, another simpler but equivalent indicator is obtained. Some numerical experiments are provided to verify our analysis. 相似文献

Convergence results are presented for the immersed boundary (IB) method applied to a model Stokes problem. As a discretization method, we use the finite element method. First, the immersed force field is approximated using a regularized delta function. Its error in the W?1, p norm is examined for 1 ≤ p < n/(n ? 1), with n representing the space dimension. Subsequently, we consider IB discretization of the Stokes problem and examine the regularization and discretization errors separately. Consequently, error estimate of order h1 ? α in the W1, 1 × L1 norm for the velocity and pressure is derived, where α is an arbitrary small positive number. The validity of those theoretical results is confirmed from numerical examples. 相似文献

In this paper we analyze the stream function-vorticity-pressure method for the Stokes eigenvalue problem. Further, we obtain
full order convergence rate of the eigenvalue approximations for the Stokes eigenvalue problem based on asymptotic error expansions
for two nonconforming finite elements, Q
1rot and EQ
1rot. Using the technique of eigenvalue error expansion, the technique of integral identities and the extrapolation method, we
can improve the accuracy of the eigenvalue approximations.

We investigate an L2‐error estimate of a covolume scheme for the Stokes problem recently introduced by Chou (Math Comp 66 (1997), 85–104). We show the error in L2 norm is of second order provided the exact velocity is in H 3 and the exact pressure is in H2. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2006 相似文献

A superconvergent nonconforming mixed finite element method for the Navier–Stokes equations 下载免费PDF全文
The superconvergence for a nonconforming mixed finite element approximation of the Navier–Stokes equations is analyzed in this article. The velocity field is approximated by the constrained nonconforming rotated Q1 (CNRQ1) element, and the pressure is approximated by the piecewise constant functions. Under some regularity assumptions, the superconvergence estimates for both the velocity in broken H1‐norm and the pressure in L2‐norm are obtained. Some numerical examples are presented to demonstrate our theoretical results. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 32: 646–660, 2016 相似文献

Guaranteed velocity error control for the pseudostress approximation of the Stokes equations 下载免费PDF全文

The pseudostress approximation of the Stokes equations rewrites the stationary Stokes equations with pure (but possibly inhomogeneous) Dirichlet boundary conditions as another (equivalent) mixed scheme based on a stress in H(div) and the velocity in L2. Any standard mixed finite element function space can be utilized for this mixed formulation, e.g., the Raviart‐Thomas discretization which is related to the Crouzeix‐Raviart nonconforming finite element scheme in the lowest‐order case. The effective and guaranteed a posteriori error control for this nonconforming velocity‐oriented discretization can be generalized to the error control of some piecewise quadratic velocity approximation that is related to the discrete pseudostress. The analysis allows for local inf‐sup constants which can be chosen in a global partition to improve the estimation. Numerical examples provide strong evidence for an effective and guaranteed error control with very small overestimation factors even for domains with large anisotropy.© 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper is concerned with a specific finite element strategy for solving elliptic boundary value problems in domains with corners and edges. First, the anisotropic singular behaviour of the solution is described. Then the finite element method with anisotropic, graded meshes and piecewise linear shape functions is investigated for such problems; the schemes exhibit optimal convergence rates with decreasing mesh size. For the proof, new local interpolation error estimates for functions from anisotropically weighted spaces are derived. Finally, a numerical experiment is described, that shows a good agreement of the calculated approximation orders with the theoretically predicted ones. © 1998 B. G. In this paper, we present and analyze a finite volume method based on the Crouzeix–Raviart element for the coupled fracture model, where the fluid flow is governed by Darcy's law in the one‐dimensional fracture and two‐dimensional surrounding matrix. In the numerical scheme, the pressure in the matrix and fracture is respectively approximated by the Crouzeix–Raviart elements and piecewise constant functions, and then the velocity is calculated by piecewise constant functions element by element. The existence and uniqueness of the numerical solution are discussed, and optimal order error estimates for both the pressure p and the velocity u are proved on general triangulations. We finally carry out numerical experiments, and results confirm our theoretical analysis. 相似文献

An adaptive boundary element method for the exterior Stokes problem in three dimensions 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
** Email: vjervin{at}clemson.edu*** Email: norbert.heuer{at}brunel.ac.uk We present an adaptive refinement strategy for the h-versionof the boundary element method with weakly singular operatorson surfaces. The model problem deals with the exterior Stokesproblem, and thus considers vector functions. Our error indicatorsare computed by local projections onto 1D subspaces definedby mesh refinement. These indicators measure the error separatelyfor the vector components and allow for component-independentadaption. Assuming a saturation condition, the indicators giverise to an efficient and reliable error estimator. Also we describehow to deal with meshes containing quadrilaterals which arenot shape regular. The theoretical results are underlined bynumerical experiments. To justify the saturation assumption,in the Appendix we prove optimal lower a priori error estimatesfor edge singularities on uniform and graded meshes. 相似文献
