The coordination properties towards different metal ions of a new class of mixed N/S-, and N/S/O-donor macrocycles containing the 1,10-phenanthroline sub-unit in the cyclic framework are reviewed. The conformational constraints imposed by the heteroaromatic fragment onto the aliphatic portion of the ring determine the coordination mode of these ligands which can stabilise low-valent Ni+, Pd+, Pt+, and Rh+ metal complexes. Structural and thermodynamic aspects of the coordination chemistry of these ligands are considered together with possible applications as building blocks in the synthesis of multi-centred systems, and as template in the construction of extended polyiodide networks. However, solution studies demonstrate the inability of these ligands to work as selective and specific fluorescent chemosensors for heavy transition and post-transition metal ions and the formation constants evaluated for the formation of 1:1 complexes with Pb2+, Cd2+, Hg2+, Cu2+, and Ag+ in acetonitrile are of the same order of magnitude. Nevertheless, some of these macrocyles are extremely effective to recognise Cu2+ or Ag+ over the other metal ions in transport processes, and have been successfully used as neutral ionophore in the construction of PVC-based ionselective electrodes and supported liquid membranes for analytical detection and separation, respectively, of these metal ions.  相似文献

Peculiarities of the structure and physicochemical properties of copper–chitosan complexes prepared by different methods were studied by IR, UV-visible, ESR spectroscopy, and electron microscopy. The catalytic activity of redox copper centers stabilized by the chitosan matrix in the reactions of oxidation of o- and p-dihydroxybenzenes in an aqueous medium was determined. Quantitative ESR measurements provide evidence for the localization of virtually all copper ions introduced in the initial heterogeneous chitosan samples with copper contents below 1.5 wt % in the form of isolated Cu2+ ions in square planar coordination. The chitosan matrix was shown to strongly bind copper ions under conditions of redox transformations in the catalytic tests or upon prolonged heating in boiling water. Reoxidation of the samples with H2O2 results in quantitative restoration of the initial ESR signal of Cu(II). Heterogenized copper–chitosan samples exhibited high activity and stability in the catalytic oxidation of dihydroxybenzenes into quinones, whereas the homogeneous system was characterized by irreversible poisoning due to formation of copper–hydroquinone complexes. Preparation of the binary composite system with a thin heterogeneous copper–chitosan film supported on a macroporous silica allows one to dramatically enhance the specific catalytic activity and the efficiency of the active component. Such an approach may turn out to be useful in the synthesis of supported chitosan catalyst with a low noble metal content.  相似文献

Cobaltocenium carboxylate is an unusual betaine that functions as a formally neutral carboxylate ligand with late transition metal centers comprising Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Ag+, Zn2+, Cd2+, Hg2+, and Rh+. Structurally, a rich coordination chemistry is observed – from simple monomeric homoleptic complexes to heteroleptic dimeric, trimeric, and polymeric compounds, as shown by X‐ray diffraction of 11 compounds. Chemically, thermal decarboxylation was investigated aiming at the formation of cobaltocenium‐carbene transition metal complexes, in analogy to such chemistry of imidazolium carboxylate betaines. Cytotoxicity studies of cobaltocenium carboxylate transition metal complexes were performed to evaluate the medicinal bioorganometallic potential of these compounds. While cobaltocenium carboxylate was inactive, its complexes with Ag+, Cd2+, and Hg2+ triggered significant cytotoxic effects.  相似文献

Efforts to improve agricultural productivity have led to a growing dependency on organophosphorus pesticides. Phosphorothioate and phosphorodithioate pesticides are organophosphorus pesticide subclasses with widespread application for the control of insects feeding on vegetables and fruits. However, even low doses of these pesticides can cause neurological problems in humans; thus, their determination and monitoring in agricultural foodstuffs is important for human health. Phosphorothioate and phosphorodithioate pesticides may be poorly ionized during electrospray, adversely affecting limits of detection. These pesticides can form complexes with Cu2+ and Ag+, however, potentially improving ionization. In the present work, we used electrospray ionization/mass spectrometry (ESI/MS) to study fenitrothion, parathion, diazinon, and malathion coordination complexes with silver and copper ions. Stable 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 metal/pesticide complexes were detected. Mass spectra acquired from pesticide solutions containing Ag+ or Cu2+ showed a significant increase in signal‐to‐background ratio over those acquired from solutions containing only the pesticides, with Ag+ improving detection more effectively than Cu2+. Addition of Ag+ to a pesticide solution improved the limit of detection by ten times. The relative affinity of each pesticide for Ag+ was related to complex stability, following the order diazinon > malathion > fenitrothion > parathion. The formation of Ag+–pesticide complexes can significantly improve the detection of phosphorothioate and phosphorodithioate pesticides using ESI/MS. The technique could potentially be used in reactive desorption electrospray ionization/mass spectrometry to detect phosphorothioate and phosphorodithioate pesticides on fruit and vegetable skins. Interactions between colloidal copper and silver ions lead to the formation of silver nanoparticles. The reaction proceeds through the intermediate stage of the formation of a copper-silver contact pair. The formation of bimetallic AgcoreCushell nanoparticles is observed in the presence of the “seeding” silver nanoparticles and upon the simultaneous radiochemical reduction of Ag+ and Cu2+ ions.  相似文献

The electron capture dissociation (ECD) and collision-induced dissociation (CID) of complexes of polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers with metal ions Ag+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Fe2+, and Fe3+ were determined by Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry. Complexes were of the form [PD + M + mH]5+ where PD = generation two PAMAM dendrimer with amidoethanol surface groups, M = metal ion, m = 2−4. Complementary information regarding the site and coordination chemistry of the metal ions can be obtained from the two techniques. The results suggest that complexes of Fe3+ and Cu2+ are coordinated via both core tertiary amines, whereas coordination of Ag+ involves a single core tertiary amine. The Zn2+ and Fe2+ complexes do not appear to involve coordination by the dendrimer core.  相似文献

Substantial cathodic currents are observed on iridium electroplates in 0.5 M H2SO4 + (0.001–0.005 M) CuSO4 + CO (sat) at potentials positive with respect to the Cu/Cu2+ equilibrium potential. These currents are shown to correspond to electroreduction of both CO and Cu2+ ions to Cu+, where the latter ions are formed in amounts indicating the formation of complexes. Among the products of CO reduction, methanol and formaldehyde are identified. A possible mechanism of CO reduction is discussed. It is assumed that both copper adatoms and Cu+ ions can play the role of intermediates in the mediator catalysis.__________Translated from Elektrokhimiya, Vol. 41, No. 7, 2005, pp. 804–809.Original Russian Text Copyright © 2005 by Podlovchenko, Gladysheva.  相似文献

Silver ion complexes of peptides [M + (Ag)n]+, M = angiotensin I or substance P where n = 1–8 and 17–23 for angiotensin I and n = 1–5 for substance P, are identified and characterized using matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry (MALDI‐TOFMS). The Ag+ coordination number exceeds the number of available amino acid residues in angiotensin I whereas the number of observed complexes in substance P is less than the number of amino acid residues in it. The larger coordination number of angiotensin I with Ag+ indicates the simultaneous binding of several Ag+ ions to the amino acid residue present in it. The lower number of observed complexes in substance P suggests the binding of two or more residues to one Ag+ ion. The presence of trifluoroacetic acid in the peptide samples reduces the Ag+ coordination ability in both the peptides which indicates that the basic residues in it are already protonated and do not participate in the Ag+‐binding process. The Ag+ ion also forms a complex with the α‐cyano‐4‐hydroxycinnamic acid (CHCA) matrix and is observed in the MALDI mass spectra and the formation of [CHCA + Ag]+, [CHCA + AgNO3]+ and [(CHCA)2 + Ag]+ ions is due to the high binding affinity of Ag+ to the CN group of CHCA. The distribution of Cu2+ ions in ZrO2 and sulfated ZrO2 hydrogel phases was studied by EPR spectroscopy and voltammetry. The formation of the following three types of copper structures was observed: mononuclear Cu2+ complexes (A), magnetic associates (B), and Cu2+ compounds (C) that gave no EPR signals under the conditions used in the spectroscopic measurements. The specific catalytic activity of various Cu2+ compounds in the liquid-phase reaction of 2,3,5-trimethyl-1,4-hydroquinone oxidation was determined. The copper complexes C were found to exhibit the highest catalytic activity.  相似文献

The defined linear arrangement of metal atoms in discrete coordination complexes or polymers is still one of the most intriguing challenges in synthetic chemistry. These chain arrangements are of fundamental importance, because of their potential applications as molecular wires and single molecule magnets (SMM) in microelectronic devices on a molecular scale. Oligonuclear Group 11 metal complexes with suitable bridging ligands, specifically those that are based on copper as the first choice of a cheap precursor coinage metal, are of particular interest in this regard. This is due to the superior luminescence properties of these linear clusters that often show d10⋅⋅⋅d10 interactions in their molecular structures. The combination of CuI with heavier coinage metal ions results in tunable emissive arrays that are also stimuli-responsive. Thus, both linear multinuclear CuI and linear heteropolymetallic CuI/AgI as well as CuI/AuI clusters are excellent candidates for applications in molecular/organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs). Alternatively, paramagnetic multinuclear cupric arrays are prominent as potential molecular wires with enhanced magnetic properties through multiple coupled d9 centers. This Review covers the whole range of linear multinuclear assemblies of cuprous and cupric ions in complexes and coordination polymers, their syntheses, photophysical behavior, and magnetic properties. Moreover, recent advances in the rapidly progressing field of hetero-CuI/AgI and CuI/AuI molecular strings are also discussed.  相似文献

The affinity of the polyether ionophore salinomycin to bind IA/IB metal ions was accessed using the Gibbs free energy of the competition reaction between SalNa (taken as a reference) and its rival ions: [M+-solution] + [SalNa] → [SalM] + [Na+-solution] (M = Li, K, Rb, Cs, Cu, Ag, Au). The DFT/PCM computations revealed that the ionic radius, charge density and accepting ability of the competing metal cations, as well as the dielectric properties of the solvent, have an influence upon the selectivity of salinomycin. The optimized structures of the monovalent metal complexes demonstrate the flexibility of the ionophore, allowing the coordination of one or two water ligands in SalM-W1 and SalM-W2, respectively. The metal cations are responsible for the inner coordination sphere geometry, with coordination numbers spread between 2 (Au+), 4 (Li+ and Cu+), 5/6 (Na+, K+, Ag+), 6/7 (Rb+) and 7/8 (Cs+). The metals’ affinity to salinomycin in low-polarity media follows the order of Li+ > Cu+ > Na+ > K+ > Au+ > Ag+ > Rb+ > Cs+, whereas some derangement takes place in high-dielectric environment: Li+ ≥ Na+ > K+ > Cu+ > Au+ > Ag+ > Rb+ > Cs+.  相似文献

The properties of complexes formed on HZSM-5 and CuZSM-5 zeolites in the course of ammonia and nitromethane adsorption are studied. Ammonia adsorbs on CuZSM-5 and forms two species, which decompose at different temperatures T dec. One is due to the formation of the Cu2+(NH3)4 complex (T dec = 450 K), and the other is assigned to ammonia adsorbed on copper(II) compounds, Cu2+O and Cu2+–O2––Cu2+, or CuO clusters (T dec = 650–750 K). Ammonia adsorption on Cu+ and Cu0 is negligible compared with that on the Brönsted acid sites and copper(II). Nitromethane adsorbed on HZSM-5 and CuZSM-5 at 400–500 K transforms into a series of products including ammonia. Ammonia also forms complexes with the Brönsted acid sites and copper(II) similar to those formed in the course of adsorption from the gas phase, but the Cu2+(NH3)4 complexes on CuZSM-5 are not observed. Possible structures of ammonia and nitromethane complexes on Brönsted acid sites and the Cu2+ cations in zeolite channels are discussed. The role of these complexes in selective NO x reduction by hydrocarbons over the zeolites is considered in connection with their thermal stability.  相似文献

The ESR spectra of copper ions of bimetallic Cu2+/Ag+ nanoparticles obtained by the radiolysis of micellar systems in hydrocarbon medium (isooctane) and adsorbed onto a solid surface (silica gel) were analyzed. It was shown that the assembly of individual copper complexes into nanoparticles leads to variations in the patterns and parameters of ESR spectra. It was also shown that the spectra depend on the nature of the surrounding medium (a liquid or a solid surface), the ion charge, and the presence of isotopes.Translated from Kolloidnyi Zhurnal, Vol. 66, No. 6, 2004, pp. 775–778.Original Russian Text Copyright © 2004 by Kovarskii, Revina, Dobryakov, Baider, Tikhonov.  相似文献

Ab initio cluster quantum chemical calculations at the Hartree–Fock (HF/Lanl2dz) and correlated second-order Moller–Plesset perturbation theory (MP2/Lanl2dz) levels were performed for NO and N2O interactions with Ag+ and Cu+ ion-exchanged zeolites. The interaction energies were estimated in a conventional way and also corrected for basis set superposition errors. It was shown that the highly dispersed Ag+ counterions establish twofold coordination to the lattice oxygens on the zeolite surface, similar to the case of Cu+ ions. However, both NO and N2O bind relatively strongly to the Cu active sites of Cu+ ion-exchanged zeolites than those of the Ag+ site of the Ag+ ion-exchanged zeolites. Based on the results of these calculations, the two different forms of adsorption for these molecules on the catalyst surface, the nature of their binding and characteristics of the adsorption properties have been discussed. Finally, some comparisons with the results obtained by a variety of density functional theory calculations on target systems have been presented.  相似文献

The complexes of the peptides (Pep) bradykinin (RPPGFSPFR), des-Arg1-bradykinin, and des-Arg9-bradykinin with the metal (M) ions Na+, K+, Cs+, Cu+, Ag+, Co2+, Ni2+, and Zn2+ are generated in the gas phase by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization and the structures of the corresponding [Pep + M+]+ or [Pep − H+ + M2+]+ cations are probed by postsource decay (PSD) mass spectrometry. The PSD spectra depend significantly on the metal ion attached; moreover, the various metal ions respond differently to the presence or absence of a basic arginine residue. The Na+ and K+ adducts of all three peptides mainly produce N-terminal sequence ions upon PSD; the fragments observed point out that these metal ions are anchored by the PPGF segment and not the arginine residue(s). In contrast, the adducts of Cu+ and Ag+ show a strong dependence on the position of Arg; complexes of des-Arg1-Pep (which contains a C-terminal Arg) produce primarily yn ions whereas those of des-Arg9-Pep generate exclusively an and bn ions. These trends are consistent with Cu+ ligation by Arg’s guanidine group. The [Pep + Cs+]+ ions mainly yield Cs+; a second significant fragmentation occurs only if a C-terminal arginine is present and involves elimination of this arginine’s side chain plus water. This reaction is rationalized through a salt bridge mechanism. The most prominent PSD products from [Pep − H+ + Co2+]+ and [Pep − H+ + Ni2+]+ contain at least one phenylalanine residue, revealing a marked preference for these divalent metal ions to bind to aromatic rings; the fragmentation patterns of the complexes further suggest that Co2+ and Ni2+ bind to deprotonated amide nitrogens. The coordination chemistry of Zn2+ combines features found with the divalent Co2+/Ni2+ as well as the monovalent Cu+/Ag+ transition metal ions. Generally, the structure and fragmentation behavior of each complex reflects the intrinsic coordination preferences of the corresponding metal ion.  相似文献

Taking advantage of the electrochemical aspects of electrospray ionization (ESI) sources in positive ionization mode mass spectrometry (MS), aqueous copper complexes are electrogenerated using sacrificial copper electrodes. When using 8-hydroxyquinoline or bathocuproine, two chelating agents for Cu2+ and Cu+ ions, respectively, the electrodissolution of copper leads to the formation of the respective complexes that are then analyzed by MS. This electrochemical generation of copper(I) complexes offers a direct route to synthesize Cu+ complexes in aqueous solutions.  相似文献

By means of kinetic studies and EPR, it has been shown that, in the reaction of hydrogen peroxide decomposition in the presence of copper-containing anion-exchange resins of the vinylpyridine series AN-40, AN-25, and AN-251, the catalytic activity increases in a series of complexes of the following types: Cu(Py)2 2+3 2+4 2+. Increases in the degree of polymer cross-linking and increases in the content of copper complexes above 0.2 mg-ion/g lead to the appearance of steric hindrance to free diffusion of H2O2 molecules within the globules of resin, with a consequent decrease in specific catalytic activity of the ion-exchanger/metal complexes. It has been established by means of EPR and IR spectroscopy that in AN-25 and AN-251 CH3 groups of the coordinated units are oxidized to carboxyl, with a consequent change in composition and structure of the Cu(II) complexes in the resins. Moreover, the copper ions are partly washed out from the resin into the reaction medium.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 9, pp. 1970–1975, September, 1989.  相似文献

The complexation of dibenzopyridino-18-crown-6 with some transition and heavy metal ions in methanol solution at various temperatures was studied by a competitive potentiometric method using a Ag+/Agelectrode system. The stoichiometry and stability of the resulting complexes were computed by the MINIQUAD program. The stability of the resulting complexes varied in the order Ag+ > Pb2+ > Tl+ > Cu2+ > Cd2+ > Zn2+. The enthalpy and entropy of the resulting 1:1 complexeswere evaluated from the temperature dependence of the stability constants. The complexes of all cations were enthalpy-stabilized but entropy-destabilized,except for Ag+ and Pb2+ ions, which were also entropy-stabilized.  相似文献

Using density functional theory calculations, we investigated the structural, energetic, electronic, and optical properties of recently synthesized duplex DNA containing metal‐mediated base pairs. The studied duplex DNA consists of three imidazole (Im) units linked through metal (Im‐M‐Im, M=metal) and four flanking A:T base pairs (two on each side). We examined the role of artificial base pairing in the presence of two distinctive metal ions, diamagnetic Ag+ and magnetic Cu2+ ions, on the stability of duplex DNA. We found that metal‐mediated base pairs form stable duplex DNA by direct metal ion coordination to the Im bases. Our results suggest a higher binding stability of base pairing mediated by Cu2+ ions than by Ag+ ions, which is attributed to a larger extent of orbital hybridization. We furthermore found that DNA modified with Im‐Ag+‐Im shows the low‐energy optical absorption characteristic of π–π*orbital transition of WC A:T base pairs. On the other hand, we found that the low‐energy optical absorption peaks for DNA modified with Im‐Cu2+‐Im originate from spin–spin interactions. Additionally, this complex exhibits weak ferromagnetic coupling between Cu2+ ions and strong spin polarization, which could be used for memory devices. Moreover, analyzing the role of counter ions (Na+) and the presence of explicit water molecules on the structural stability and electronic properties of the DNA duplex modified with Im‐Ag+‐Im, we found that the impact of these two factors is negligible. Our results are fruitful for understanding the experimental data and suggest a potential route for constructing effective metal‐mediated base pairs in duplex DNA for optoelectronic applications.  相似文献
