The synthesis of a new Schiff base containing 1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-dicarboxaldehyde and 2-mercaptoethylamine is described. The reaction of 1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-dicarboxaldehyde with 2-mercaptoethylamine leads to 2,9-bis(2-ethanthiazolinyl)-1,10-phenanthroline (I) which undergoes rearrangement when reacted with manganese, nickel, copper or zinc ions to produce complexes of the tautomeric Schiff base 2,9-bis[2-(2-mercaptoethyl)-2-azaethene]-1,10-phenanthroline (L). The [M(L)Cl2] complexes [where M = Mn(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) ions] were characterized by physical and spectroscopic measurements which indicated that the ligand is a tetradentate N4 chelating agent.  相似文献

Three new mononuclear Schiff-base complexes, namely [Mn(L)Cl] (1), [Ni(L)] (2), and [Cu(L)] (3), where L?=?anion of [N,N′-bis(2-hydroxybenzophenylidene)]propane-1,2-diamine, have been synthesized by reacting equimolar amounts of the respective metal chloride and the tetradentate Schiff base, H2L, in methanol. The complexes have been characterized by microanalytical, spectroscopic, single-crystal X-ray diffraction, and other physicochemical studies. Structural studies reveal that 1 adopts a distorted square-pyramidal geometry whereas 2 and 3 are isotypic with distorted square-planar geometries. The antibacterial activities of 13 along with their Schiff base have been tested against some Gram(+) and Gram(?) bacteria.  相似文献

Complexes of 1,10-o-phenanthroline (o-phen)-NiII and CuII with dithiocarbamates derived from -amino acids (glycine, phenylalanine, alanine, methionine and tryptophan) were synthesized and characterized by chemical analysis, spectral and thermal studies and by biological screening; the complexes are non-electrolytes. The empirical formula are [Ni(o-phen)2(aadtc)] and [Cu2(o-phen)2(phaladtc)(H2O)2Br2] where, aadtc = glycinyl-, phenylalaninyl-, alaninyl-, methioninyl- and tryptophanyldithiocarbamate and phaladtc = phenylalaninyldithiocarbamate. The structure of these complexes is probably octahedral. Molecular association through hydrogen bonding between the —NH and the carboxylate groups is proposed for the NiII complexes. The CuII complex is dimeric with the phenylalaninyldithiocarbamate acting as a bridge.  相似文献

[Cu(L)] (1) and mixed ligand copper(II) complexes [Cu(L)(A)] (2 and 3), where L is the Schiff base derived from o-vanillin and l-tryptophan and A is pyridine (2) and imidazole (3), were synthesized and characterized using conventional and spectral techniques. 2 was structurally characterized using single crystal X-ray crystallography showing that Cu(II) is coordinated through N2O2 donors in a square plane. The EPR spectra of the complexes in frozen solution support a square-based structure. Electrochemical behavior of the complexes has been studied by cyclic voltammetry. The DNA-binding properties of L and 1–3 with calf thymus DNA were investigated by spectral and kinetic methods. For all the complexes, the maximum value of binding constant (0.38 × 106) was achieved with 3 by spectroscopic titration. The ability of compounds to break pUC19 DNA was checked by gel electrophoresis. The ligand and copper complexes exert cytotoxicity against MCF-7 cell line.  相似文献

Abstract

Three new Cu(II) Schiff base complexes with bidentate N-donor heterocyclic co-ligands, 2,2'-bipyridine (1), 1,10-phenanthroline (2), and 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (3), were synthesized and characterized by FT-IR and UV-vis spectroscopy. Molecular structures of [C20H21CuN4O](ClO4) (1) and [C24H25CuN4O](ClO4) (3) were characterized by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. The Schiff base ligand is an N2O-type ligand, which is the mono-condensed form of the reaction between 1,3-propanediamine and salicylaldehyde. The antibacterial activities of these complexes were investigated against one gram positive and four gram negative bacteria. Considerable antibacterial activity was obtained against both gram type bacteria. Complexes 2 and 3 with 1,10-phenanthroline and 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline, respectively, showed better antibacterial activity compared to 1 which has the 2,2'-bipyridine co-ligand.  相似文献

Three new reduced amino-acid Schiff-base complexes, [Zn(HL)2] · H2O (1), [Ni(HL)2] · H2O (2), and [Cd(HL)2] · H2O (3), where H2L is a reduced Schiff base derived from condensation of N-(2-hydroxybenzaldehyde) and L-histidine, have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, UV-Vis absorption spectra and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Complexes 13 are isostructural. All metal centers are six-coordinate with O2N4 donor sets in slightly distorted octahedra. Unlike its Schiff-base counterpart, the deprotonated monoanionic ligand HL? has a more flexible backbone and two HL? are tridentate to one metal. Moreover, the binding interactions of these complexes with calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) have been investigated by UV-Vis spectra and fluorescence quenching, which show that the complexes bind in an intercalative mode.  相似文献

Synthesis, spectroscopic characterization and thermal analysis of the [Pd(dmba)(Cl)(iso)] (1), [Pd(dmba)(NCO)(iso)] (2), [Pd(dmba)(N3)(iso)] (3) and [Pd(dmba)(Br)(iso)] (4) (dmba = N,N′-dimethylbenzylamine; iso = isonicotinamide) compounds are described in this work. The complexes were investigated by infrared spectroscopy (IR), differential thermal analysis (DTA) and thermogravimetry (TG) and the residues of the thermal decomposition were identified as Pdo by X-ray powder diffraction. The thermal stability order of the complexes varied as [Pd(dmba)(Cl)(iso)] (1) > [Pd(dmba)(Br)(iso)] (4) > [Pd(dmba)(NCO)(iso)] (2) > [Pd(dmba)(N3)(iso)] (3).  相似文献

Hexa-coordinated ruthenium(II) complexes of the type [Ru(CO)(PPh3)(Z)(L)] [Z = PPh3, pyridine (py) or piperidine (pip); L = anion of the Schiff base] have been prepared by reacting [RuHCl(CO)(PPh3)2(Z)] with tridentate Schiff bases derived by condensing anthranilic acid with acetylacetone, salicylaldehyde, o-vanillin and o-hydroxyacetophenone. The complexes were characterised by analytical and spectral (i.r., electronic, 1H- and 31P-n.m.r.) data, and were found to be effective catalysts for oxidising primary alcohols to aldehydes in the presence of N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMO) as co-oxidant. The Schiff bases and their ruthenium(II) complexes show growth inhibitory activity against pathogenic fungi Aspergillus flavus, Fusarium oxysporium and Rhizoctonia solani.  相似文献

The products obtained by reacting ruthenium (II) complexes [RuHCl(CO)(PPh3)2(B)] [B = PPh3, pyridine (py) or piperidine (pip)] with tridentate Schiff base ligands derived by condensing salicylaldehyde or o-vanillin with o-aminophenol and o-aminothiophenol, have been characterised by analytical, i.r., electronic, 1H-n.m.r. and 31P-n.m.r. spectral studies and formulated as [Ru(L)(CO)(PPh3)(B)] (L = bifunctional tridentate Schiff base anion, B = PPh3, py or pip). An octahedral structure has been tentatively proposed for the new complexes. Some have been tested for the in vitro growth inhibitory activity against bacteria Escherichia coli, Bacillus sp. and Pseudomonas sp.  相似文献

Redox active mononuclear and binuclear copper(II) complexes have been prepared and structurally characterized. The complexes have planar N-donor heterocyclic bases like 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), dipyridoquinoxaline (dpq) and dipyridophenazine (dppz) ligands that are suitable for intercalation to B-DNA. Complexes studied for nuclease activity have the formulations [Cu(dpq)2(H2O)] (ClO4)2.H2O (1), [CuL(H2O)2(μ-ox)](ClO4)2 (L = bpy,2; phen,3; dpq,4; and dppz,5) and [Cu(L)(salgly)] (L = bpy,6; phen,7; dpq,8; and dppz,9), where salgly is a tridentate Schiff base obtained from the condensation of glycine and salicylaldehyde. The dpq complexes are efficient DNA binding and cleavage active species. The dppz complexes show good binding ability but poor nuclease activity. The cleavage activity of thebis-dpq complex is significantly higher than thebis-phen complex of copper(II). The nuclease activity is found to be dependent on the intercalating nature of the complex and on the redox potential of the copper(II)/copper(I) couple. The ancillary ligand plays a significant role in binding and cleavage activity.  相似文献

Complexes of the type [M(pash)Cl] and [M(Hpash)(H2O)SO4] (M=Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II); Hpash = p-amino acetophenone salicyloyl hydrazone) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, molar electrical conductance, magnetic moments, electronic, ESR and IR spectra, thermal studies and X-ray powder diffraction. All the complexes are insoluble in common organic solvents and are non-electrolytes. The magnetic moment values and electronic spectra indicate a square-planar geometry for Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) chloride complexes and spin-free octahedral geometry for the sulfato complexes. The ligand coordinates through >C=N–,–NH2 and a deprotonated enolate group in all the chloro complexes, and through >C=N–, >C=O and–NH2 in the sulfato complexes. Thermal analyses (TGA and DTA) of [Cu(pash)Cl] show a multi-step exothermic decomposition pattern. ESR spectral parameters of Cu(II) complexes in solid state at room temperature suggest the presence of the unpaired electron in d x 2 ? y 2 . X-ray powder diffraction parameters for [Cu(pash)Cl] and [Ni(Hpash)(H2O)SO4] correspond to tetragonal and orthorhombic crystal lattices, respectively. The complexes show a fair degree of antifungal activity against Aspergillus sp., Stemphylium sp. and Trichoderma sp. and moderate antibacterial activity against E. coli and Clostridium sp.  相似文献

In this study, some cobalt(II)tetraaza Schiff base complexes were used as donors in coordinating to triphenyltin(IV)chloride as acceptors; the kinetics and mechanism of the adduct formation were studied spectrophotometrically. Co(II)tetraaza Schiff base complexes used were [Co(amaen)][N,N′‐ethylene‐bis‐(o‐amino‐α‐methylbenzylideneiminato)cobalt(II)] ( 1 ), [Co(appn)] [N,N′‐1,2‐propylene‐bis‐(o‐amino‐α‐phenylbenzylideneiminato)cobalt(II)] ( 2 ), [Co(ampen)] [N,N′‐ethylene‐bis‐(o‐amino‐α‐phenylbenzylideneiminato)cobalt‐(II)] ( 3 ), [Co(cappn)][N,N′‐1,2‐proylene‐bis‐(5‐chloro‐o‐amino‐α‐phenylbenzylideneiminato)cobalt(II)] ( 4 ), and [Co(campen)] [N,N′‐ethylene‐bis‐(5‐chloro‐o‐amino‐α‐phenylbenzylid‐eneiminato)cobalt(II)] ( 5 ). The reactivity trend of the complexes in interaction with triphenyltin(IV)chloride was Co(amaen) > Co(appn) > Co(ampen) > Co(cappn) > Co(campen). The linear plots of kobs versus the molar concentration of the triphenyltin(IV)chloride, a high span of the second‐order rate constant k2 values, and large negative values of ΔS and low ΔH values suggest an associative (A) mechanism for the acceptor–donor adduct formation. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this study the binary and ternary complexes of copper(II) with substituted 1,10-phenanthrolines [s-phen: 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), 4,7-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (dmphen) and 5-nitro-1,10-phenanthroline (nphen)] and l-amino acids [aa: l-phenylalanine (phe), l-tyrosine (tyr) and l-tryptophan (trp)] have been investigated using potentiometric methods in 0.1 mol·L?1 KCl aqueous ionic media at 298.2 K. The protonation constants of the ligands and the stability constants of the binary and ternary complexes of Cu(II) with the ligands were calculated from the potentiometric data using the “BEST” software package. It was inferred that the aromatic 1,10-phenanthrolines act as a primary ligand in the ternary complexes, while the oxygen and nitrogen donor-containing amino acids are secondary ligands. The observed values of Δlog10 K indicate that the ternary complexes are more stable than the binary ones, suggesting no interaction takes place between the ligands in the ternary complexes. The magnitudes of the measured stability constants of all of the ternary complexes are in the order [Cu(s-phen)(trp)]+ > [Cu(s-phen)(tyr)]+ > [Cu(s-phen)(phe)]+, which is identical to the sequence found for the binary complexes of Cu(II) with the amino acids. When the substituted 1,10-phenanthroline is changed, the stability constants of the ternary complexes decrease in the following order: [Cu(dmphen)(aa)]+ > [Cu(phen)(aa)]+ > [Cu(nphen)(aa)]+.  相似文献

Metal complexes [Ni(HL1)2H2O] (1) and [Fe(HL1)2] (2), where HL1 is the tridentate Schiff base N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-5-nitrosalicylaldimine, were synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic methods. The crystal structures of 1 and 2 have been determined by single crystal diffraction at 100?K. Complexes 1 and 2 have a distorted octahedral geometry. The ligand and metal complexes were screened for antibacterial and antifungal activities by the disk diffusion, microdilution broth, and single spore culture techniques. Antimicrobial activities of the ligand and its complexes have been tested against 10 bacteria, two yeast, and five filamentous fungi. The ligand and metal complexes were found to be active against all tested micro-organisms.  相似文献

Reactions of ruthenium(II) carbonyl complexes of the type [RuHCl(CO)(PPh3)2(B)] [B?=?PPh3, pyridine (py), piperidine (pip) or morpholine (mor)] with bidentate Schiff base ligands derived from the condensation of 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde with aniline, o-, m- or p-toluidine in a 1?:?1 mol ratio in benzene resulted in the formation of complexes formulated as [RuCl(CO)(L)(PPh3)(B)] [L?=?bidentate Schiff base anion, B?=?PPh3, py, pip, mor]. The complexes were characterized by analyses, IR, electronic and 1H NMR spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetric studies. In all cases, the Schiff bases replace one molecule of phosphine and a hydride ion from the starting complexes, indicating that Ru–N bonds in the complexes containing heterocyclic nitrogenous bases are stronger than the Ru–P bond to PPh3. Octahedral geometry is proposed for the complexes.  相似文献

A series of new ruthenium(II) complexes containing 1,3-dihydro-1,1,3,3-tetramethyl-7,8-diazacyclopenta[1]phenanthren-2-one (DTDP) ligand, such as [Ru(DTDP)n(L)3−n]2+ (L = 2,2′-bipyridyl (bpy), 4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridyl (dmbpy), o-phenanthroline (o-phen), 5-chloro-o-phenanthroline (o-phen-Cl), 2,2′-bipyridine-4,4′-dicarboxaldehyde (bpy-(CHO)2), n = 1, 2, 3) were synthesized and examined as ECL materials. All the complexes were characterized in terms of electrochemical redox potential and relative ECL intensity, and were compared to the well-known tris(o-phenanthroline) ruthenium(II) complex. Most of the synthesized Ru(II) complexes containing the DTDP ligand exhibited more intense ECL emissions than [Ru(o-phen)3]2+. In particular, the ECL intensities of [Ru(DTDP)(o-phen)2]2+ and [Ru(DTDP)(bpy-(CHO)2)2]2+ were observed to be as high as 9-fold and 20-fold greater, respectively, than the ECL intensity of [Ru(o-phen)3]2+.  相似文献

Three 3-D coordination polymers, [Cu(cca)(4,4′-bipy)]n (1), [Co3(pda)3(1,10′-phen)2]n (2), and [Co(pda)(1,10′-phen)]n (3), have been synthesized from 4-carboxycinnamic acid (cca), 1,4′-phenylenediacrylic acid (pda), 4,4′-bipyridine (4,4′-bipy), 1,10′-phenanthroline (1,10′-phen), and Cu and Co salts under different conditions. The X-ray crystal structures of these three complexes are presented. Complex 1 exhibits a threefold 3-D α-Po interpenetration network. Complex 2 with a 3-D framework with six-connected single α-Po framework constructed from Co3 unit has been synthesized and characterized. Complex 3 shows a 3-D framework with bcu topology composed of 1-D rod-shaped secondary building units. Furthermore, the photocatalytic properties of 2 were studied. When excited by UV light, 2 exhibits photocatalytic activity, in 300?min, about 71% Rhodamine B decomposes.  相似文献
