The present paper deals with the synthesis and characterization of Schiff base complexes of pyrazinamide an antitubercular drug. Metals selected for complexation are copper, silver, gold, zinc, mercury, iron and cobalt. The complexes have been suitably synthesized and isolated in pure powdered form. Analytical data agrees with the compositions M(L), M′(L)2 and M″(L)2·2H2O, respectively where M = Ag, M′ = Cu, Au, Zn and Hg and M″ = Fe and Co, ligand metal ratios were also confirmed by monovariation method and Job’s method of continuous variation. Molar conductance values suggest the non ionic nature of the complexes. The tentative structure assigned to the complexes on the basis of stoichiometry and analytical data were further supported by spectral studies viz; IR, NMR, magnetic susceptibility and electronic spectra. A preliminary attempt has also been made to compare the potencies of metal complexes with parent drug. The Cu and Ag complexes are giving encouraging results. Particle size studies further suggest that the drug molecule undergoes reduction in size on complexation.  相似文献

The Schiff base has been synthesized by reacting tranexamic acid with indol-3-carboxyaldehyde in the first step and then with carbon disulfide at room temperature in the second step. The homobimetallic complexes have been synthesized by reaction of Schiff base with R2SnCl2 and R3SnCl in 1?:?2?M ratio under stirring, where R?=?methyl, n-butyl and phenyl. The ligand and complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, multinuclear NMR (1H, 13C and 119Sn) and semi-empirical study. IR data reveal the bidentate nature of the ligand. Five- or six-coordinate geometry was confirmed in solution by NMR spectroscopy. The homobimetallic complexes and ligand were tested in vitro against some pathogenic bacteria and fungi to assess their antimicrobial properties. The complexes show biological activities with few exceptions.  相似文献

Ni(II) and Cu(II) metal complexes of simple unsymmetrical Schiff-base ligands derived from salicylaldehyde/5-methylsalicylaldehyde and ethylenediamine or diaminomaleonitrile (DMN) were synthesized. The ligands and their complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, 1H NMR, FT IR, and mass spectroscopy. The electronic spectra of the complexes show d–d transitions in the region at 450–600 nm. Electrochemical studies of the complexes reveal that all mononuclear complexes show a one-electron quasi-reversible reduction wave in the cathodic region. ESR spectra of the mononuclear copper(II) complexes show four lines, characteristic of square-planar geometry, with nuclear hyperfine spin 3/2. The copper(II) complexes show a normal room temperature magnetic moment value μ eff = 1.70–1.74 BM which is close to the spin only value of 1.73 BM. Kinetic studies on the oxidation of pyrocatechol to o-quinone using the copper(II) complexes as catalysts were also carried out. The in vitro antimicrobial activity of the investigated compounds was tested against human pathogenic bacterias such as Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Klebsiella pneumonia, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli. The antifungal activity was tested against Candida albicans. Generally, the metal complexes have higher antimicrobial activity than the free ligands.  相似文献

A new series of mono and binuclear Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), La(III), Ru(III), Hf(IV), ZrO(II) and UO(2)(II) complexes of phenylaminodibenzoylhydrazone have been synthesized and characterized by elementals analyses, IR UV-vis spectra, magnetic moments, conductances, thermal analyses (DTA and TGA) and electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements. The IR spectral data show that, the ligand behaves as a neutral bidentate type (15 and 16), monobasic bidentate type (6), or monobasic tridentate type (5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14, 17-21) or dibasic tridentate type 2-4, 9 and 12 towards the metal ion. Molar conductances in DMF solution indicate that, the complexes are non-electrolytes. The ESR spectra of solid complexes (9 and 10) show axial and non-axial types indicating a [Formula: see text] ground state with significant covalent bond character. However, complexes (11 and 12), show isotropic type, indicating manganese(II) octahedral geometry. Antibacterial and antifungal tests of the ligand and its metal complexes are also carried out and it has been observed that the complexes are more potent bactericides and fungicides than the ligand.  相似文献

Schiff-base copper(II) complexes were prepared using macrocyclic ligands, synthesized by condensation of diethylmalonate with Schiff bases derived from o-phenylenediamine and Knoevenagel condensed β-ketoanilides (obtained by the condensation of acetoacetanilide and substituted benzaldehydes). The ligands and their copper complexes were characterized by microanalytical, mass, UV–Vis, IR, 1H-NMR, ESR and CV studies, as well as conductivity data. Microanalytical, mass and magnetic moment analyses are consistent with formation of monomeric [CuL]Cl2. Spectral studies indicate square-planar geometry around copper. The smaller grain sizes found from XRD data suggest that these complexes are polycrystalline with nanosized grains. The SEM images of [CuL1]Cl2 have leaf-like morphology. The in vitro biological screening of the investigated compounds against the bacteria Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus and fungi Aspergillus niger, Rhizopus stolonifer, Aspergillus flavus, Rhizoctonia bataicola and Candida albicans were tested by the well diffusion method to assess growth inhibition. A comparative study of MIC values of the Schiff-base ligands and their complexes indicate that the complexes exhibit higher antimicrobial activity than the free ligands.  相似文献

Two Schiff bases, 1-acetylferrocene thiosemicarbazone (HL1) and 1,1′-diacetyl-ferrocene dithiosemicarbazone (H2L2) and their copper(II) complexes were prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, conductivity, and spectral (IR, UV–Vis, ESR) measurements The IR spectra showed that HL1 acts as neutral or monobasic bidentate ligand, coordinating to copper(II) through either thiono- or thiolo-sulphur and azomethine-N atoms, whereas H2L2 is a neutral or dibasic mononucleating or binucleating quadridentate ligand coordinating through the same atoms. Other spectral measurements indicate that complexes [(L1)2Cu], [(L2)Cu] and [(HL1)2Cu]X2, X?=?Cl, Br or ClO4 have square-planar geometry around copper(II) while [(HL1)CuX2] and [(H2L2)Cu2X4], X?=?Cl or Br, have distorted tetrahedral geometry. The biological activity studies of the complexes and the free ligands towards two gram positive and two gram negative bacteria and one fungal species have been studied and the potential is related to the nature and structure of the tested compounds.  相似文献

Cu(II) complexes have been synthesized from the Schiff base ligands derived from furfurlyidene-4-aminoantipyrine and aniline (L1)/p-nitroaniline (L2)/p-hydroxyaniline (L3). They were characterized using analytical and spectral techniques. All the Cu(II) complexes exhibit square planar geometry. The X-band ESR spectra of the copper complexes in DMSO solution at 300 and 77 K were recorded and their salient features are reported. The in vitro biological screening effects of the investigated compounds were tested against the bacterial species, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus vulgaris and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and fungal species, Aspergillus niger, Rhizopus stolonifer, Aspergillus flavus, Rhizoctonia bataicola and Candida albicans by serial dilution method. A comparative study of inhibition values of the Schiff base ligands and their complexes indicate that the complexes exhibit higher antimicrobial activity than the Schiff base ligands. Superoxide dismutase and reducing power activities of the copper complexes have also been studied. Depending on the molecular structure, the [CuL2(OAc)2] complex possess promising SOD mimetic activities.  相似文献

Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes of multifunctional triaminoxime have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV–Vis spectra, magnetic moments, 1H- and 13C-NMR spectra for ligand and its Ni(II) complex, mass spectra, molar conductances, thermal analyses (DTA, DTG and TG) and ESR measurements. The IR spectral data show that the ligand is bi-basic or tri-basic tetradentate towards the metals. Molar conductances in DMF indicate that the complexes are non-electrolytes. The ESR spectra of solid copper(II) complexes [(HL)(Cu)2(Cl)2] · 2H2O (2) and [(L)(Cu)3(OH)3(H2O)6] · 7H2O (6) show axial symmetry of a d x²???y 2 ground state; however, [(HL)(Co)] (4) shows an axial type with d Z 2 ground state and manganese(II) complex [(L)(Mn)3(OH)3(H2O)6] · 4H2O (10) shows an isotropic type. The biological activity of the ligand and its metal complexes are discussed.  相似文献

A new ferrocenyl ligand was prepared from the condensation of 1,1′‐diacetylferrocene dihydrazone with 2‐thiophenealdehyde. The ligand, 1,1′‐bis[(2‐thienylmethylidene)hydrazono‐1‐ethyl]ferrocene, forms 1:1 complexes with cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) in good yield. Characterization of the ligand and complexes was carried out using IR, 1H NMR, electronic absorption and elemental analysis. Biological activity of the ligand and its complexes was assessed against Bacillus subtilis (+ve), Staphylococcus aureus (+ve), Candida albicans (yeast), Esherichia coli (?ve), Salmonella typhi (?ve), Aspergillus niger (fungi), and Fusarium solani (fungi). The biological results indicated that the complexes prepared are more active than the ligand. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The investigation of the new structures of Ag(I), Cu(II) and Au(III) complexes, [Ag(2)(Nor)(2)](NO(3))(2), [Cu(Nor)(2)(H(2)O)(2)]SO(4).5H(2)O and [Au(Nor)(2) (H(2)O)(2)]Cl(3) (where, Nor=norfloxacin) was done during the reaction of silver(I), copper(II) and gold(III) ions with norfloxacin drug ligand. Elemental analysis of CHN, infrared, electronic, (1)H NMR and mass spectra, as well as thermo gravimetric analysis (TG and DTG) and conductivity measurements have been used to characterize the isolated complexes. The powder XRD studies confirm the amorphous nature of the complexes. The norfloxacin ligand is coordinated to Ag(I) and Au(III) ions as a neutral monodentate chelating through the N atom of piperidyl ring, but the copper(II) complex is coordinated through the carbonyl oxygen atom (quinolone group) and the oxygen atom of the carboxylic group. The norfloxacin and their metal complexes have been biologically tested, which resulted in norfloxacin complexes showing moderate activity against the gram positive and gram negative bacteria as well as against fungi.  相似文献

A series of Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), La(III), Ru(III), Hf(IV), Zr(IV) and U(VI) complexes of phenylamino acetoacetylacetone hydrazone have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV–Vis, magnetic moments, conductances, thermal analyses (DTA and TGA) and ESR measurements. The IR data show that the ligand is neutral bidentate, monobasic bidentate, monobasic tridentate or dibasic tridentate towards the metal ion. Molar conductances in DMF indicate that the complexes are non-electrolytes. The ESR spectra of solid [(L)(HL)Cu2(NO3)(H2O)]·1/2H2O (10) and [(H2L)Cu(Cl)2(H2O)2] (11) show axial spectra with g >?g >?2.0023 indicating d(x²???y²) ground state with significant covalent bond character. However, [(HL)2Mn2(Cl)2(H2O)4·H2O (13) shows an isotropic spectrum, indicating manganese(II) to be octahedral. Antibacterial and antifungal tests of the ligand and some of its metal complexes revealed that the complexes are more potent bactericides and fungicides than the ligand.  相似文献

A series of mononuclear and binuclear Fe(III) complexes of some new symmetrical and unsymmetrical Schiff bases containing quinoline derivatives were synthesized and characterized by elemental and thermal analysis, conductance measurements and IR spectra. In mononuclear complexes, the unsymmetric Schiff bases are monobasic tetradentate towards the Fe(III) ion. However, in binuclear complexes, the symmetric Schiff-base ligands behave as monobasic bidentate towards each Fe(III) ion. The structure of the solid complexes are discussed and based on magnetic susceptibility measurements, electronic and ESR spectral studies. The biological activities of the ligands and their complexes are reported.  相似文献

Polyketone resins have been prepared by the Friedel-Crafts polymerization of dithiophenylidenecyclopentanone (Ⅰ), dithiophenylidenecyclohexanone (Ⅱ) and dithiophenylideneacetone (Ⅲ) with adipoyl, sebacoyl and terephthaloyl dichlorides using boron trifluoride as catalyst and carbon disulphide as solvent. Polymers were characterized with IR, 1 H-NMR, and the results showed the presence of carbonyl of ketonic groups in the main chain. The polyketones have inherent viscosities of 0.40-0.70 dL/g. All the polymers are semicrystalline and most of them are partially soluble in most common organic solvents but freely soluble in aprotic solvents. The temperatures of 50% weight loss are as high as 185℃ to 280℃ in air, indicating that these aromatic polyketones have excellent thermal stability. All the polyketones were tested for their antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi.  相似文献

Two naphthalene pyrazole ligands were synthesized using KOH/DMSO and Cu catalyst and characterized with FT-IR, ESI-MS, 1H, and 13C NMR spectroscopies. The crystal structures of 1-(2-methylnaphthalen-1-yl)-1H-pyrazole (MeNap-Pz) ligand have been determined with X-ray crystal structure analysis. Reaction of the ligands with Cu(NO3)2x3.5H2O gave two new complexes and characterized with magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance, FT-IR, LCMS-MS, ICP-OES, NMR, thermogravimetric analysis, and ESR spectra. The spectral data of the ligands are coordinated to the metal ion through the nitrogen atoms of the pyrazole ring. Consequently, it has been determined that [Cu(MeNap-Pz)2(NO3)]NO3.2H2O complex showed square planar geometry and [Cu(NapMe-Pz)2(NO3)2].H2O complex showed octahedral geometry. All compounds were screened for in vitro antibacterial activity and copper complexes have been shown to be effective on bacteria.  相似文献

4-Ethylthiosemicarbazide and its NH(1) derivatives have been prepared and confirmed by elemental analysis and 1H?NMR spectra to produce diverse complexes with Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) ions. The obtained complexes have been investigated based on elemental and thermal analyses, spectral (UV/VIS, ESR, mass) studies and magnetic measurements. The IR data reveal the presence of variable modes of chelation for the investigated ligands. The electronic spectra of the complexes as well as their magnetic moments provide information about geometries. The ESR spectra give evidence for the proposed structure and the bonding for some Cu(II) complexes. Thermal decomposition of some complexes ended with metal or metal oxide as a final product.  相似文献

Three metal complexes with empirical formulae [Mn(theop)2(H2O)4] (1), [Co(theop)2(H2O)4] (2), [Ni(theop)2(H2O)4] (3), (where: theop?=?theophylline) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FTIR- spectroscopy and thermal decomposition techniques. Their crystal structures were determined by single crystal Xray diffraction analysis. Complexes are isomorphous and crystallise in the monocyclic space group P21/c. Their thermal behavior was studied by TGA methods under non-isothermal condition in air. Upon heating all compounds decompose progressively to metal oxides, which are the final products of pyrolysis. Furthermore, antimicrobial and antioxidant activity of the complexes was examined.  相似文献

Coordination compounds of the transition metal(II) acetylacetonates of the formula [M(NA)2(acac)2 ]n (M = Mn, Co, Ni, Cu and Zn; NA = nicotinic acid and acac = acetyl-acetonate anion) have been synthesized and characterized by chemical analysis, magnetic susceptibility, ligand-field spectra, IR and far-IR spectral measurements as well as photoacoustic spectroscopy in the solid state. Tentative stereochemistries for the complexes isolated in the solid state are suggested. The ligand-field parameters 10 Dq, B, β, λ and CFSE are calculated for cobalt and nickel complexes and are in good agreement with the proposed geometries. The metal ions attain six-coordination through the four oxygens of the anion and two donor atoms of the nicotinic acid ligands acting always as monodentate ligands. The formation of the compound results in a considerable shift of v(M-O) to lower frequencies in all the compounds related to parent acetylacetonates.  相似文献

Penicillin derivatives, penicillin G ( 1 ), penicillin V ( 2 ) and ampicillin ( 3 ), were modified with germanium‐containing moieties and their structures were confirmed based on NMR spectroscopy and MALDI‐TOF. Their antibacterial ability was tested. None of these exhibited activity stronger than the parent penicillins. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
