Several new submillimeter laser lines have been observed in a CH3OH submillimeter laser, optically pumped by CO2—laser radiation in a low power pulsed mode.Assignments have been suggested for a number of the lines. A few lines have wavelengths close to atmospheric water vapor absorption peaks, and can be observed only when the air path from the submillimeter resonator exit mirror to the detector is kept short or flushed with dry nitrogen.  相似文献

This paper describes the growth and device performance of electroabsorption modulators on GaAs substrates operating near 1.3 m, the dispersion minimum for silica fibres. The key to the successful molecular beam epitaxial (MBE) growth of these devices was the incorporation of a linearly-graded buffer layer beneath the InGaAs/AlGaAs multi-quantum-well active layer. Both transmission and reflection modulators are produced. For transmission devices, larger modulation is achieved when the buffer is graded more slowly: The maximum modulation reported was 22% for T/T O corresponding to a 0.86 dB contrast ratio with an insertion loss of roughly 5 dB at 1.34 m. Antireflection coating a transmission modulator yields a reasonable reflection modulator. However, improved performance is reported for a reflection modulator using a novel technique of integrating the bottom quarter-wave mirror into a buffer with linearly-graded In composition. At 1.33 m, a normally-off reflection modulator with an integrated mirror exhibited a R/R O of 73%, a constrast ratio of 2.38 dB, and an insertion loss of 4 dB.  相似文献

Reliable Q-switched operation of a cladding-pumped 2.7m ZBLAN fibre laser in the range of the power limit of self-destruction is shown for the first time. The laser is pumped by a multimode diode. Q-switching is achieved by two different techniques: a rotating mirror and an acousto-optical modulator. Pulse widths of 500ns with the rotating mirror and 300ns (FWHM) with the acousto-optical modulator and pulse energies in the J range are achieved.  相似文献

This paper describes a CW submillimeter waveguide dischargepumped DCN laser operating on 190 and 195m lines with novel mixture gas(N2, CD4, and D2). No brown polymer deposit was found after long time discharge even at low wall temperature. The laser discharge length is 3 m, and the resonator length is 3.4 m. The resonator cavity consists of a pyrex tube of 54 mm diameter and two plane reflectors against its ends, one is a plane mirror, the other is a metal mesh. After optimization of various parameters, such as the N2:CD4:D2 gas mixture, the discharge current and the wall temperature, this laser delivers 150 and 160mW on the 190 and 195m lines, respectively, for EH11 mode.  相似文献

Amplitude filters with non-linear adaptive performance in the Fourier plane of a mirror optical system are considered. Panchromatic silver bromide layers with a printout effect are employed. Experiments directly probing the electronic states using angle-resolved photoemission (ARPES) were carried out on La2/3Sr1/3MnO3 in order to elucidate its electronic properties. ARPES is a surface sensitive technique where bulk and surface states are usually both present. We present high-resolution ARPES studies in the (1 0 0) and (1 1 0) mirror planes and compare them with simulated ARPES based on GGA + U band structure calculations. In the (1 1 0) mirror plane we identify surface umklapps accounted by surface reconstruction which couple to bulk electronic states. As predicted by the simulated spectra there is additional spectral intensity at the Fermi level detected in ARPES data due to k-broadening effects in the photoemission final states. We demonstrate that this additional spectral intensity is a convenient spectral marker for determination of the kF Fermi momenta.  相似文献

We study the holomorphic structure of certain complex manifolds associated withW algebras, namely, the flag manifoldsW /T andW 1+/T 1+, and the spacesW /SL(),R) andW 1+/GL(,R), whereT andT 1+ are the maximal tori inW andW 1+. We compute their Ricci curvature and show how the results are related to the anomaly-freedom conditions forW andW 1+. In this paper we give a characterization of the modular group of a von Neumann algebra , with a cyclic and separating vector, which provides at the same time a necessary and sufficient condition so that two von Neumann algebras 1 and 2, such that 12, are the mutual commutants, i.e. 1=2.An application is made to the duality property in Quantum Field Theory, and we give a sufficient condition for PCT invariance in a theory of local observables.Partially supported by C.N.R.  相似文献

This article presents a Pauli-Dirac matrix approach to Clifford Algebras. It is shown that the algebra C2 is generated by two Pauli matrices i2 and i3; C3 is generated by the three Pauli matrices 1, 2, 3; C4 is generated by four Dirac matrices 0, 1, 2, 3 and C5 is generated by five Dirac matrices i0, i1, i2, i3, i5. The higher dimensional anticommuting matrices which generate arbitrarily high order Clifford algebras are given in closed form. The results obtained with this Clifford algebra approach are compared with the vector product method which was described in a recent article [Found. Phys. 10, 531–553 (1980) by Poole, Farach and Aharonov] and with the Dirac, Rashevskii and Ramakrishnan methods of matrix generation.Supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant ISP-80-11451.  相似文献

To solve the dynamical system we need the initial valuesE n ( = 0) and \ n ( = 0). Thus one finds the motion of the energy levelsE n (). We discuss the question of energy level crossing. Furthermore we describe the connection with the stationary state perturbation theory. The dependence of the survival probability as well as some thermodynamic quantities on is derived. This means we calculate the differential equations which these quantities obey. Finally we derive the equations of motion for the extended caseH =H 0 +V 1 + 2 V 2 and give an application to a supersymmetric Hamiltonian.  相似文献

A comprehensive study of the ac response properties of the classical stochastic model for sliding charge density waves (CDW) in quasi one-dimensional metals is made by numerically solving the associated Fokker-Planck equation. Above the conductivity threshold a noise mechanism is indispensable to give finite line widths to the resonances of the applied ac signal of frequency with the narrow band noise frequency OSC inherent in the model. In the present investigation a current noise of strengthT N proportional to the CDW current is used in the Fokker-Planck equation in order to model the broad band current noise frequently observed above threshold. The present model thus incorporates three characteristic frequency scales: OSC,T N ,and a crossover frequency OSC. Results are evaluated for the ac conductivity (;E 0,E ) as function of frequency , dc bias electric fieldE 0 and ac signal field strengthE . ForE 0 the linear ac response is obtained by a separate treatment of the Fokker-Planck equation. The resonances near =OSC are studied in detail. Strong ac signals reduce the response at the fundamental resonance and lead to a harmonic interference structure nearn=OSC. The overall agreement of the present results with recent measurements of the linear ac response is not good. In reality our results seem to be superimposed on a background not reproduced by the classical model with one cross over frequency. However, the peak in Im (;E 0,E =0) vs.E 0, when the narrow band noise frequency is near , is well reproduced. The spectral width of this peak which corresponds to the inductive dip in the susceptibility is studied as function of current noise strengthT N .The results stress the need for a complete Fokker-Planck treatment sinceT N is not simply related to the line width.  相似文献

The Einstein equation with T = k k + where k, l are null is considered with spherical symmetry and staticity. The solution has a naked singularity and is not asymptotically flat. An expression for the heat conductivity xx is derived in the effective medium approximation. Mott type formulas are obtained for xx and the Peltier coefficient xx . Using percolation theory in a three-dimensional system the Wiedemann-Franz ratio was found to depend on the temperature like . The Mott type formulas were evaluated in a similar way for a two-dimensional system in the quantum Hall regime within the high-field percolation model. In contrast to previous calculations of the high field hopping conductivity xx , the results are fully consistent with the experimental data on xx and the density of states at the Fermi level. Finally, xx is estimated which together with xx and xy =ie 2/h(i=0,1,2,...), determines both thermopower coefficients xx and xy .Dedicated to Professor W. The vacuum line element inside an infinitely long rotating hollow cylinder is the usual flat space line element. It is fitted in a most general way to the general cylindrical vacuum field outside at the singular hypersurfaceR 0=const, representing the infinitely thin hollow cylinder. With the use of the jump conditions atR 0=const the surface densities , of which the energy-momentum-stress tensor of the shell consists, are calculated. Resonance Raman spectra (RRS) of Co(II) and Co(III)5,10,15,20tetrakis(4Nmethylpyridinium)porphyrin ((CoII(TmpyP4), and CoIII(TMPyP4)) in aqueous solutions at different pH as well as in organic solvents (methanol, ethanol, DMSO, DMF) are obtained. The increased sensitivity of the oscillation frequencies 2, 4, 8, and 6 — the markers of the oxidation state of a metal — to the nature of an axial ligand has been revealed. For CoIII(TmpyP4), the shifts of the indicated frequencies in extracoordination have turned out to be twofold larger than those for CoII(TmpyP4). The spectral effects observed are related to different electron influence of the extraligands on the system of the porphyrin ring. In the case of Co(III)porphyrin, interaction of the d orbitals of the metal and the e g *orbitals of the macrocycle is more efficient since its ionic radius is smaller than for the Co(II)complex. For CoIII(TmpyP4), a linear correlation between the oscillation frequencies 2, 4, 8, and 6 and the experimental Gutmann parameters characterizing the electronacceptor properties of solvents is found.  相似文献

Nonlinear effects stabilizing the convective instabilities excited in an anisothermic plasma (T etT i) at the plasma boundaryaVs/ Bi) are discussed. Waves having in the linear theory (Part I) the highest growth rates ( Bi) saturate at first. Being excited by a small part of slow plasma electrons ( zTe) only, they saturate at a relatively low level. Further, surface waves with lower frequencies and higher phase velocities ( ph/kz) become dominant and a broadening of the plasma boundary occurs. For their saturation nonlinear interaction is more important than the quasilinear effects. During the time interval of several Bi –1 the longest surface waves withk yBi/Vs, BikyVs and ph Te saturate at the absolutely highest level. The plasma boundary broadens in the meanwhile up toaV s/Bi. The wave energy is comparable to the whole energy connected with the longitudinal motion of the initially thermal electrons inside this boundary layer. The wave amplitude is large enough to trap the initially cold ions belonging to this layer and heat them up to energies comparable to those of the electron component. The heating process occurs again within several Bi –1 and the Larmor radius of the ions is then comparable toV s/Bi. Single-mode operation of an atmospheric-pressure TE CO2 laser is reported. Single longitudinal mode emission has been achieved by incorporating a low-pressure, transversely excited gain section in the same laser cavity as the atmospheric-pressure section. The effects of different resonator configurations on the system modal behaviour have been investigated and it is shown that unstable resonators are particularly suitable for controlling the transverse mode structure with a complete coverage of the excited medium. With an unstable resonator configuration, formed by a metallic convex mirror and a plane diffraction grating, single longitudinal and single transverse mode output pulses with energy up to 2 J have been produced on more than 40 lines of both the 9.4 m and 10.4 m bands. This technique can easily be scaled to larger aperture devices at higher extracted energies.  相似文献

A fast response frequency-modulated interferometric polarimeter was designed and constructed with a single 28 m H2O laser for high density plasma diagnostics. This newly developed modulation system employs an electro-magnetically driven movable mirror to achieve the modulation frequency beyound 1 MHz for about 100 s duration. The movable mirror performance is studied experimentally in detail. The determination of the Faraday rotation angle is based on the zero-crossing method for the observed beat signals produced by two kinds of rotating plane-polarized waves. The feasibility of the polarimeter constructed was verified in experiments of a field-reversed thetapinch plasma.  相似文献

The projection latticesP(1),P(2) of two von Neumann subalgebras 1, 2 of the von Neumann algebra are defined to be logically independent if A B0 for any 0AP(1), 0BP(2). After motivating this notion in independence, it is shown thatP(1),P(2) are logically independent if 1 is a subfactor in a finite factor andP(1),P(2 commute. Also, logical independence is related to the statistical independence conditions called C*-independence W*-independence, and strict locality. Logical independence ofP(1,P(2 turns out to be equivalent to the C*-independence of (1,2) for mutually commuting 1,2 and it is shown that if (1,2) is a pair of (not necessarily commuting) von Neumann subalgebras, thenP(1,P(2 are logically independent in the following cases: is a finite-dimensional full-matrix algebra and 1,2 are C*-independent; (1,2) is a W*-independent pair; 1,2 have the property of strict locality.  相似文献
