We give explicit solutions for the two-component Hunter-Saxton system on the unit circle. Moreover, we show how global weak solutions can be naturally constructed using the geometric interpretation of this system as a re-expression of the geodesic flow on the semidirect product of a suitable subgroup of the diffeomorphism group of the circle with the space of smooth functions on the circle. These spatially and temporally periodic solutions turn out to be conservative.  相似文献

We study the stability of conservative solutions of the Cauchy problem for the Camassa-Holm equation utuxxt+κux+3uux−2uxuxxuuxxx=0 with periodic initial data u0. In particular, we derive a new Lipschitz metric dD with the property that for two solutions u and v of the equation we have dD(u(t),v(t))?eCtdD(u0,v0). The first author and D. Kunszenti-Kovács (2010) [1] proved that if the volume of the intersection of three geodesic balls of a complete connected Riemannian manifold depends only on the center-center distances and the radii of the balls, then the manifold is one of the simply connected spaces of constant curvature. In this paper, we study the geometrical consequences of the analogous condition for pairs of geodesic balls. We show that in a complete, connected and simply connected Riemannian manifold, the volume of the intersection of two small geodesic balls depends only on the distance between the centers and the radii if and only if the space is harmonic. It is also shown that if in a Riemannian manifold the volume of the intersection of two small geodesic balls of equal radii depends only on the distance between the centers and the common value of the radii, then the space is Einstein, and if we assume in addition that the space is symmetric, then it must be Osserman and hence two-point homogeneous.  相似文献

The purpose in this paper is to prove that there exists a lattice on certain solvable Lie groups and to construct a symplectic solvmanifold with the Hard Lefschetz property, and a locally conformal Kähler solvmanifold. We see that minimal models for these solvmanifolds are formal.  相似文献

We consider a reaction-diffusion-advection equation arising from a biological model of migrating species. The qualitative properties of the globally attracting solution are studied and in some cases the limiting profile is determined. In particular, a conjecture of Cantrell, Cosner and Lou on concentration phenomena is resolved under mild conditions. Applications to a related parabolic competition system are also discussed.  相似文献

Beyond groups of automorphisms in the category Gp of groups and Lie-algebras of derivations in the category K-Lie of Lie algebras, there are structures of internal groupoids (called action groupoids) in both categories. They allow a synthesis of the notion of obstruction to extensions. This leads, in any pointed protomodular category C with split extension classifiers, to a general treatment of non-abelian extensions which can be understood as morphisms in a certain groupoid TorsC.  相似文献

We evaluate the rate of decay for solutions to second order parabolic equations, which vanish on the boundary, while the right-hand side is allowed to be unbounded. Our approach is based on a special growth lemma, and it works for both divergence and non-divergence equations, in domains satisfying a general “exterior measure condition” (A). A general existence theorem for flat covers in (e.g., quasi-abelian) locally finitely presented categories is obtained from an additive Ramsey type theorem. In the abelian case, it is shown that flat covers always exist. Applications to categories of separated presheaves or sheaves, localizations of Bousfield type, torsion-free classes of finite type, and categories of filtered objects or complexes, are given.  相似文献

Let Γ\D be an arithmetic quotient of a symmetric space of non-compact type. A spine D0 is a Γ-equivariant deformation retraction of D with dimension equal to the virtual cohomological dimension of Γ. We explicitly construct a spine for the case of Γ=SU(2,1;Z[i]). The spine is then used to compute the cohomology of Γ\D with various local coefficients.  相似文献

In this paper we study the probability that the commutator of two randomly chosen elements in a finite group is equal to a given element of that group. Explicit computations are obtained for groups G which |G| is prime and GZ(G) as well as for groups G which |G| is prime and GZ(G)=1. This paper extends results of Rusin [see D.J. In this note we consider the relationship between the dressing action and the holonomy representation in the context of constant mean curvature surfaces. We characterize dressing elements that preserve the topology of a surface and discuss dressing by simple factors as a means of adding bubbles to a class of non-finite type cylinders.  相似文献

For a finite-dimensional (but possibly noncompact) symplectic manifold with a compact group acting with a proper moment map, we show that the square of the moment map is an equivariantly perfect Morse function in the sense of Kirwan, show that certain integrals of equivariant cohomology classes localize as a sum of contributions from these compact critical sets, and bound the contribution from each critical set. In the case (1) that the contribution from higher critical sets grows slowly enough that the overall integral converges rapidly and (2) that 0 is a regular value of the moment map, we recover Witten's result [E. Witten, Two dimensional gauge theories revisited, J. Geom. Phys. 9 (1992) 303-368; http://xxx.lanl.gov/abs/hep-th/9204083] identifying the polynomial part of these integrals as the ordinary integral of the image of the class under the Kirwan map to the symplectic quotient.  相似文献

We describe the moduli spaces of meromorphic connections on trivial holomorphic vector bundles over the Riemann sphere with at most one (unramified) irregular singularity and arbitrary number of simple poles as Nakajima's quiver varieties. Using the multilinear estimates, which were derived for proving well-posedness of the generalized Korteweg-de Vries (gKdV) equation, it is shown that if the initial data belongs to Gevrey space Gσ, σ?1, in the space variable then the solution to the corresponding Cauchy problem for gKdV belongs also to Gσ in the space variable. Moreover, the solution is not necessarily Gσ in the time variable. However, it belongs to G3σ near 0. When σ=1 these are analytic regularity results for gKdV.  相似文献

The authors give a short survey of previous results on generalized normal homogeneous (δ-homogeneous, in other terms) Riemannian manifolds, forming a new proper subclass of geodesic orbit spaces with nonnegative sectional curvature, which properly includes the class of all normal homogeneous Riemannian manifolds. As a continuation and an application of these results, they prove that the family of all compact simply connected indecomposable generalized normal homogeneous Riemannian manifolds with positive Euler characteristic, which are not normal homogeneous, consists exactly of all generalized flag manifolds Sp(l)/U(1)⋅Sp(l−1)=CP2l−1, l?2, supplied with invariant Riemannian metrics of positive sectional curvature with the pinching constants (the ratio of the minimal sectional curvature to the maximal one) in the open interval (1/16,1/4). This implies very unusual geometric properties of the adjoint representation of Sp(l), l?2. Some unsolved questions are suggested.  相似文献
