We construct a new Evans function for quasi-periodic solutions to the linearisation of the sine-Gordon equation about a periodic travelling wave. This Evans function is written in terms of fundamental solutions to a Hill’s equation. Applying the Evans-Krein function theory of Kollár and Miller (SIAM Rev 56(1):73–123, 2014) to our Evans function, we provide a new method for computing the Krein signatures of simple characteristic values of the linearised sine-Gordon equation. By varying the Floquet exponent parametrising the quasi-periodic solutions, we compute the linearised spectra of periodic travelling wave solutions of the sine-Gordon equation and track dynamical Hamiltonian–Hopf bifurcations via the Krein signature. Finally, we show that our new Evans function can be readily applied to the general case of the nonlinear Klein–Gordon equation with a non-periodic potential.

The fully integrable KP equation is one of the models that describes the evolution of nonlinear waves, the expansion of the well-known KdV equation, where the impacts of surface tension and viscosity are negligible. This paper uses the Modified Extended Direct Algebraic (MEDA) method to build fresh exact, periodic, trigonometric, hyperbolic, rational, triangular and soliton alternatives for the (2 + 1)-dimensional Gardner KP equation. These solutions that we discover in this article will help us understand the phenomena of the (2 + 1)-dimensional Gardner KP equation. Comparing the study in this paper and existing work, we find more exact solutions with soliton and periodic structures and the rational function solution in this paper is more general than the rational solution in existing literature. Most of the Jacobi elliptic function solutions and the mixed Jacobi elliptic function solutions to the (2 + 1)-dimensional Gardner KP equation discovered in this paper, to the best of our highest understanding are not seen in any existing paper until now.  相似文献

The Dirac equation with a scalar and an electromagnetic potential is considered. In the time-harmonic case and when all the involved functions depend only on two spatial variables it reduces to a pair of decoupled bicomplex Vekua-type equations [8]. Using the technique developed for complex Vekua equations a system of exact solutions for the bicomplex equation is constructed under additional conditions, in particular when the electromagnetic potential is absent and the scalar potential is a function of one Cartesian variable. Introducing a transmutation operator relating the involved bicomplex Vekua equation with the Cauchy-Riemann equation we prove the expansion and the Runge approximation theorems corresponding to the constructed family of solutions.  相似文献

We use the isomonodromy properties of theta-functional solutions of the Ernst equation and an asymptotic expansion in the spectral parameter to establish algebraic relations, enforced by the underlying Riemann surface, between the metric functions and their derivatives. These relations determine which classes of boundary value problems can be solved on a given surface. The situation on lower-genus Riemann surfaces is studied in detail.  相似文献

We present a Lax pair for the field elliptic Calogero-Moser system and establish a connection between this system and the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation. Namely, we consider elliptic families of solutions of the KP equation such that their poles satisfy a constraint of being balanced. We show that the dynamics of these poles is described by a reduction of the field elliptic CM system.We construct a wide class of solutions to the field elliptic CM system by showing that any N-fold branched cover of an elliptic curve gives rise to an elliptic family of solutions of the KP equation with balanced poles.  相似文献

Let K be the function field over a finite field of odd order, and let H be a definite quaternion algebra over K. If Λ is an order of level M in H, we define theta series for each ideal I of Λ using the reduced norm on H. Using harmonic analysis on the completed algebra H and the arithmetic of quaternion algebras, we establish a transformation law for these theta series. We also define analogs of the classical Hecke operators and show that in general, the Hecke operators map the theta series to a linear combination of theta series attached to different ideals, a generalization of the classical Eichler Commutation Relation.  相似文献
