This article describes mild methods to directly assemble, functionalize, and pattern monolayers of undecylenic acid on hydrogen-terminated Si(111). These monolayers were assembled under very mild conditions from a neat solution of undecylenic acid containing 0.1 mol % 4-(decanoate)-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinooxy at room temperature without the need for UV light. Because of these mild conditions, monolayers exposing carboxylic acids could be assembled in one step without the need to protect the acid prior to its assembly. The monolayers were extensively characterized by horizontal attenuated total reflection infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and contact angle goniometry. The monolayers bonded to the silicon surface preferentially through the olefin with no detectable bonds between the carboxylic acids and silicon. The crystallinity of the monolayer was studied by infrared spectroscopy through the antisymmetric--v(a)(CH(2))--and symmetric--v(s)(CH(2))--stretches for methylene. Because it is important for future applications to assemble functional surfaces, methods to react the acid-terminated monolayers with trifluoroacetic anhydride and triethylamine to yield a symmetric anhydride on the monolayer were studied. These anhydrides were reacted with a variety of milligram-quantity amines to yield amide-terminated surfaces. This method was general, and a variety of amines could be bonded to the monolayer. The stabilities of these monolayers upon exposure to ambient conditions and under a variety of solvents were described. Because patterned monolayers have found wide applications, we have developed methods to pattern 1-octadecylamine and poly(ethylenimine) on the micrometer scale using soft lithography. In addition, polymer brushes of polynorbornene with thicknesses from 32 to 150 nm were grown from monolayers patterned with the Grubbs' catalyst. The patterned surfaces were imaged by scanning electron microscopy, scanning probe microscopy, and ellipsometry to determine the thicknesses of the patterns and the fidelity of the method.  相似文献

A very mild method was developed for the attachment of high-quality organic monolayers on crystalline silicon surfaces. By using visible light sources, from 447 to 658 nm, a variety of 1-alkenes and 1-alkynes were attached to hydrogen-terminated Si(100) and Si(111) surfaces at room temperature. The presence and the quality of the monolayers were evaluated by static water contact angles, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and IR spectroscopy. Monolayers prepared by thermal, UV light, or visible light initiation were compared. Additionally, the ability of infrared reflection-absorption spectroscopy to study organic monolayers on silicon was explored. A reaction mechanism is discussed on the basis of investigations of the reaction behavior of 1-alkenes with silicon wafers with varying types and levels of doping. Finally, a series of mixed monolayers derived from the mixed solutions of a 1-alkene and an omega-fluoro-1-alkene were investigated to reveal that the composition of the mixed monolayers was directly proportional to the molar ratio of the two compounds in the solutions.  相似文献

Generation and assembly of gold nanostructures were investigated in the organized molecular films of a series of gemini amphiphiles. The chloroauric acid, dissolved in the aqueous subphase, was incorporated into the monolayers of the gemini amphiphiles containing ethyleneamine spacers through an interfacial assembly. The in situ formed complex monolayers were transferred onto solid substrates, and gold nanoparticles were generated in the film by a chemical or photochemical reduction. Discrete gold nanoparticles with an absorption maximum at 550 nm were generated in the films by photoirradiation, while different gold nanostructures were obtained by chemical reduction. Depending on the chemical reductant, various shape and assembly of gold nanostructures were obtained. When reduced by hydroquinone, a tree-branched assembly of the nanoparticles was obtained and the film showed a broad band centered at around 900 nm. When NaBH 4 was applied, crooked nanowires or assembly of nanoparticles were obtained, depending on concentration, and the film showed absorption at 569 or 600 nm. Furthermore, by combining the photochemical and chemical reduction methods, i.e., the chloroaurate ion-incorporated film was initially irradiated with UV light and then subjected to chemical reduction, the optical absorption of the formed gold nanostructures can be regulated.  相似文献

Nanometer-scale patterns have been created in self-assembled monolayers by using a scanning near-field optical microscope coupled to an ultra-violet laser emitting light at a wavelength of 244 nm. Sharp, chemically well-defined features with dimensions as small as 40 nm have been created routinely, and on occasions line widths of 25 nm (lambda/10) have been achieved. Because of the wide range of photochemical methods available for surface derivatization, this approach promises to provide a flexible and versatile route to the generation of molecular and biological nanostructures for a wide range of applications.  相似文献

N-Hydroxysuccinimide (NHS)-ester-terminated monolayers were covalently attached in one step onto silicon using visible light. This mild photochemical attachment, starting from omega-NHS-functionalized 1-alkenes, yields a clean and flat monolayer-modified silicon surface and allows a mild and rapid functionalization of the surface by substitution of the NHS-ester moieties with amines at room temperature. Using a combination of analytical techniques (infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (IRRAS), extensive X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) in combination with density functional theory calculations of the XPS chemical shifts of the carbon atoms, atomic force microscopy (AFM), and static contact angle measurements), it was shown that the NHS-ester groups were attached fully intact onto the surface. The surface reactivity of the NHS-ester moieties toward amines was qualitatively and quantitatively evaluated via the reaction with para-trifluoromethyl benzylamine and biotin hydrazide.  相似文献

A simple, rapid and highly sensitive reversed-phase liquid chromatographic method has been developed for the determination of sialic acids in human serum. The sialic acids, released by hydrolysis of serum, are converted in borate buffer with malononitrile to highly fluorescent compounds. The reaction mixture is separated isocratically within 5 min using an octadecyl-bonded silica column and a mobile phase of methanol and ammonium acetate buffer (15:85, v/v; pH 5.5). Measurement of the fluorescence intensity of the reaction mixture at 434 nm with irradiation at 357 nm allowed determination of 30-1000 ng/ml of sialic acids with high reproducibility. The limit of detection was 2 ng/ml. Intra-day and inter-day coefficients of variation for assaying 300 ng/ml N-acetylneuraminic acid (NANA) were 1.5% (n = 9) and 2.6% (n = 7), respectively. The recoveries of NANA were 98.5-101.1% for serum. The method has been used for clinical determinations.  相似文献

Abstract—Exposure of the retina of the rhesus monkey to visible and infrared radiation from CW optical sources like the Sun, xenon lamps, etc. produces small lesions or scotomata which may be classified as thermal or photochemical, depending on the wavelength and duration of exposure. The action spectrum for the production of retinal lesions has been determined for eight monochromatic laser wavelengths extending from 1064 to 441 nm. The corneal power required to produce a lesion decreases by three orders of magnitude in going from 1064 to 441 nm. Exposure to 1064 nm radiation for 1000 s produces a typical thermal lesion at elevated retinal temperatures. whereas a 1000 s exposure to 441 nm light produces a photochemical lesion at power levels too low to raise the retinal temperature by an appreciable amount (<0.1°). The two types of lesion have entirely different characteristics as will be discussed in some detail. The photopathology of thc photochemical lesion has been studied at postexposure times ranging from 1 h to 90 days and will be demonstrated in a number of histological slides. Moreover, this photopathology correlates well with monocular visual acuity tests in the rhesus monkey as defined by the Landolt ring technique. To further elucidate the differential effects on the retina of short vs long wavelength CW radiation, we have divided a simulated solar spectrum at sea level into two spectral bands. 400–800 nm and 700–1400 nm, and determined the radiant exposures required to produce very mild lcsions on the rhesus retina for exposure times of 1, 10, 100 and 1000 s. To correlate our data with solar retinitis and eclipse blindness the image diameter or spot size on the retina was 159 μm, corresponding to the image size of the Sun on the human retina. Exposure to the 400–800 nm spectrum for durations of 10 s or greater required approximately 400 J/cm2 to produce a mild photochemical lesion. Reciprocity is maintained over the exposure range 10–1000 s. Radiant exposure to the 700–1400 nm spectrum, on the other hand, required roughly 69,100 J/cm2 for a 1000 s exposure. This was a mild thermal lesion. We were unable to produce a lesion for exposure times less than 1000 s. We interpret these data to mean that solar retinitis and eclipse blindness are primarily photochemical events produced by the short wavelength component of the solar spectrum, and that the infrared component of the solar spectrum plays only a minor role in these retinal pathologies.  相似文献

The thicknesses of intermediate oxides at the interface between ultrathin SiO2 and Si substrates have been measured via XPS elemental quantitative analysis for some SiO2/Si(100) and SiO2/Si(111) samples with the silicon oxide thickness less than 2 nm. The measurements involve XPS determination of the Si relative atomic ratio, calculation of Si atomic densities for the intermediate oxide, etc. and then the intermediate oxide thicknesses and the number of monolayers are obtained by referencing the thickness data from two international comparisons for these samples. The results show that the thickness of the intermediate oxides is in the range 0.14–0.16 nm with an average value of 0.15 nm. The number of monolayers for the intermediate oxides at the interface is less than one monolayer with an average value of 0.60. In the present work, there are a series of approximations. By making these approximations many parameters, including L and R0, used in the conventional calculation method are removed to give a simpler equation, which is valid when the thicknesses of SiO2 overlayer and the intermediate oxides are very small. This, therefore, appears to be a simple and quick method to obtain approximate oxide thicknesses of modest accuracy. Reagentless micropatterning of hydrogen-terminated Si(111) via UV irradiation through a photomask has proven to be a convenient strategy for the preparation of ordered bicomponent monolayers. The success of this technique relies upon the differential rate of reaction of an alkene with the hydrogen-terminated and photooxidized regions of the surface. Monolayer formation can be accomplished under either thermal or photochemical conditions. It was observed that, after 3 h, reaction in neat alkene solution irradiation (Rayonet, 300 nm) afforded the expected patterned surface, while thermal conditions (150 degrees C) resulted in a partial loss of pattern fidelity. Monolayer properties and formation were studied on oxidized and hydrogen-terminated silicon under thermal and photochemical initiation, by contact angle, ellipsometry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Results show that alkenes add to silanol groups on the silica surface in a manner consistent with acid catalysis: once attached to the surface, the silica oxidized the hydrocarbon.  相似文献

This work describes a chemically well defined method for patterning ligands to self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of alkanethiolates on gold. This method begins with monolayers presenting a nitroveratryloxycarbonyl (NVOC)-protected hydroquinone which is photochemically irradiated to reveal a hydroquinone group. The resulting hydroquinone is then oxidized to the corresponding benzoquinone, providing a site for the Diels-Alder mediated immobilization of ligands. The rate constant for the photochemical deprotection is 0.032 s(-1) (with an intensity of approximately 100 mW/cm(2) between 355 and 375 nm), corresponding to a half-life of 21 s. The hydroquinone is oxidized to the benzoquinone using either electrochemical or chemical oxidation and then functionalized by reaction with a cyclopentadiene-tagged ligand. Two methods for patterning the immobilization of ligands are described. In the first, the substrate is illuminated through a mask to generate a pattern of hydroquinone groups, which are elaborated with ligands. In the second method, an optical microscope fit with a programmable translational stage is used to write patterns of deprotection which are then again elaborated with ligands. This technique is characterized by the use of well-defined chemical reactions to control the regions and densities of ligand immobilization and will be important for a range of applications that require patterned ligands for biospecific interactions.  相似文献

Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of 1-alkenes on hydrogen-passivated silicon substrates were successfully patterned on the nanometer scale using an atomic force microscope (AFM) probe tip. Nanoshaving experiments on alkyl monolayers formed on H-Si(111) not only demonstrate the flexibility of this technique but also show that patterning with an AFM probe is a viable method for creating well-defined, nanoscale features in a monolayer matrix in a reproducible and controlled manner. Features of varying depths (2-15 nm) were created in the alkyl monolayers by controlling the applied load and the number of etching scans made at high applied loads. The patterning on these SAM films is compared with the patterning of alkyl siloxane monolayers on silicon and mica.  相似文献

The reaction between 2,3-dichloro-1,4-naphthoquinone and N,N'-diphenyl thiourea in acetonitrile medium, which yields the product, 2,3-(N,N'-diphenylthioureylene)-naphtho-1,4-quinone has been found to take place in two ways--thermal and photochemical. The thermal (dark) reaction occurs through an electron donor-acceptor (EDA) adduct as intermediate with evolution of HCl and kinetic data fit into the scheme A + B<==>AB(fast)-->product(slow) Formation constant of the EDA adduct and the rate constant of the slow process have been determined at four different temperatures from which the enthalpy of formation of AB has been determined. The photochemical reaction has been studied with 360 nm ordinary light and also with 365 and 370 nm laser beams. Use of laser causes about 10(3)-fold increase in the rate of the reaction but does not affect the quantum yield. The final product has been isolated and characterised by elemental analysis, 1H and 13C NMR, IR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry.  相似文献

Mesoionic pyrimidinium-olate derivatives have been known to undergo photoreactions upon irradiation with UV light to form bis(beta-lactame) structures for about two decades. Here, new mono-, poly- and macrocyclic mesoions were prepared and their photochemical rearrangement behavior was investigated. The synthesized compounds were characterized by NMR, IR, UV/Vis spectroscopy, elemental analysis and mass spectrometry. The extension of the aromatic core leads to a significant red-shift of the absorption maximum from ∼380 to ∼430 nm, indicating a strong electronic coupling of the mesoionic base chromophore with the annellated aromatic subunit. The rigidity of the extended aromatic system prevents polycyclic mesoions from shifting to their bis(beta-lactame) isomers, while the alkyl bridge of the 16-membered macrocycle in an ansa-mesoion does not inhibit photochemical rearrangement.  相似文献

The binuclear complex [RuII(NH3)5(pz)RuII(bpy)2(NO)](PF6)5 was prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, UV-vis, and IR spectroscopy. The complex UV-vis spectrum has presented bands at 242, 286, and 530 nm in acetate buffer solution at pH 4.5. The photochemical study by laser flash-photolysis at 532 nm showed the NO release account from the NO measured by a NO sensor. The quantum yield for NO release (0.025 +/- 0.004 mol einsten-1) was determined with a laser flash-photolysis apparatus (Continuum Q-switched Nd:YAG laser). The major irradiation product of the [RuII(NH3)5(pz)RuII(bpy)2(NO)]5+ complex besides nitric oxide is [RuIII(NH3)5(pz)RuII(bpy)2(H2O)]5+.  相似文献

偶氮苯树枝状分子通过中心羧基与金或者石英基体表面的氨基进行酰胺化反应得到树枝状分子单分子层修饰的表面,利用红外反射 吸收光谱(IRRAS)、UV-Vis和Raman光谱法研究了单分子层的结构和性能,利用椭偏谱法来测量四代树枝状(G-4)单分子层在不同异构化形态的分子层厚度,其中反式构象的单分子层厚度为(2.38±0.09) nm,顺式构象厚度为(1.88±0.08) nm。 利用表面等离子体共振(SPR)研究不同形态下G-4单层与不同等电点的蛋白质之间的相互作用关系,结果表明,G-4单层为负电位表面,能够吸附正电位的蛋白质,而且当树枝状单分子层形态从反式变为顺式时,表面电位变为更负,能吸附更多正电位的蛋白质。  相似文献

A simple capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) method for the determination of the content of the major sialic acid form N-acetylneuraminic acid (Neu5Ac) in glycoproteins was established. The present method utilizes a simplified hydrolysis-purification procedure consisting of mild acid hydrolysis (25 mM trifluoroacetic acid for 2h at 80 degrees C) to release Neu5Ac and ultrafiltration on Centricon-3 membrane to remove the obtained asialoglycoproteins and other macromolecules present in biologic samples. Derivatization with benzoic anhydride at 80 degrees C for 20 min resulted in complete conversion of Neu5Ac to per-O-benzoylated Neu5Ac. CZE analysis was performed using the operating buffer 25mM phosphate, pH 3.5, containing 50% (v/v) acetonitrile as organic modifier at 30 kV, and detection of the per-O-benzoylated Neu5Ac at 231 nm. The method showed excellent repeatability (RDS<1.98%) and a linearity range from 5 microg/mL to 5mg/mL with a detection limit of 2 microM. Application of the method to microanalysis of human alpha(1)-acid glycoprotein and blood serum samples showed excellent agreement with previously published values, suggesting a high precision for the developed CZE method.  相似文献

Asymmetrically substituted poly(paraphenylene) (PhPPP) with hydrophilic and hydrophobic side chains was investigated. The polymer behavior at the air-water interface was studied on the basis of surface pressure-area (pi-A) isotherms and compression/expansion hysteresis measurements. PhPPP can form stable monolayers with an area per repeat unit of A=0.20+/-0.02 nm2 and a collapse pressure in the range of pi=25 mN/m. Then, Langmuir-Blodgett-Kuhn (LBK) films of PhPPP were prepared by horizontally and vertically transferring the Langmuir monolayers onto hydrophilic solid substrates at pi=12 mN/m. Cross-section analysis of the AFM tapping-mode topography images of a single transferred monolayer reveals a thickness of d0=0.9+/-0.1 nm. Taking into account the obtained monolayer thickness, curve-fitting calculations of angular scan data of LB monolayers measured using surface plasmon resonance (SPR) spectroscopy lead to a value for the refractive index of n=1.78+/-0.02 at lambda=632.8 nm. Next, the spontaneous formation of a PhPPP monolayer by adsorption from solution was studied ex situ by atomic force microscopy and UV-vis spectroscopy and in situ by using SPR spectroscopy. Stable self-assembled monolayers of PhPPP can be formed on hydrophilic surfaces with a thickness similar to that of the monolayer obtained using the LB method. The characterization results confirmed the amphiphilic character and the self-assembly properties of PhPPP, as well as the possibility of preparing homogeneous monolayer and multilayer films.  相似文献

A photochemical method for the determination of methamidophos using a flow injection system is proposed. The method is based on the rapid decomposition of methamidophos in the presence of peroxydisulphate upon irradiation with UV light. The phosphate generated in the photochemical process is made to react with molybdate in dilute nitric acid to form phosphomolybdic acid, which oxidises thiamine to thiochrome. The thiochrome can then be fluorimetrically monitored at 440 nm with excitation at 375 nm. The method shows a linear range between 14 and 1400 ng ml(-1) with a limit of detection of 1.7 ng ml(-1). The repeatability was 0.3% expressed as relative standard deviation (n=10) and the reproducibility, studied on five different days, was +/-3%. The sample throughput was 70 injections per h. The reliability of the method for routine analysis of water and vegetable samples is demonstrated.  相似文献
