This paper investigates the influence of the mass distribution on the stability behaviour of pinned-pinned and clamped-clamped rods, subjected to a nonconservative, constant distribution of follower forces. It shows that divergence buckling loads do always exist, are independent of the particular mass distribution and determine the stability behaviour for positive loads. For negative follower forces however, the systems are either stable or show instability due to flutter. Both cases can be obtained by a suitable choice of the mass distribution. Furthermore, the paper gives bounds for the divergence buckling loads and the flutter loads.
Zusammenfassung Die Autoren untersuchen den Einfluss der Massenverteilung auf das Stabilitätsverhalten von beidseitig gelenkig gelagerten und beidseitig eingespannten elastischen Stäben, die einer gleichmässig verteilten, nichtkonservativen, mitgehenden Last unterworfen sind. Es zeigt sich, dass in allen Fällen Knicklasten vorhanden sind, die sich durch Divergenz ergeben, die von der besonderen Massenverteilung unabhängig sind und die im Bereich positiver Lasten für das Stabilitätsverhalten massgeblich sind. Für negative mitgehende Lasten sind die Systeme jedoch entweder stabil oder sie werden durch Flattern instabil. Beide diese Fälle können durch eine geeignete Wahl der Massenverteilung verwirklicht werden. Schliesslich enthält die Arbeit Schranken für die Divergenz-Knicklasten und für die Lasten, die zum Flattern führen.

The design of a cantilever column under a follower load is considered with the aim of maximizing the critical value of the load. The optimality condition is derived, and a modified Ritz method is used to determine an approximate solution for the bending stiffness. Results are obtained numerically for the case of a sandwich column with constant bending stiffness in each of two segments. It is found that, for the same structural weight, the optimal design yields a critical load significantly higher than that for a uniform column.This research was supported in part by the US Army Research Office–Durham and in part by the United States Navy under Grant No. NONR N00014-67-A-0191-0009.  相似文献

The problem is considered of the stabilization of a mechanical system having only nonconservative positional forces by adding gyroscopic forces. The gyroscopic stabilization is proved to be always realizable in the case of a degenerate matrix of nonconservative forces and even number of coordinates. If the matrix of nonconservative forces is nonsingular then a possibility of the gyroscopic stabilization is established for all systems whose number of coordinates is divisible by four. For a nonautonomous systemwith nonconservative positional forces and dissipative forces with complete dissipation, some sufficient conditions are obtained for stabilization up to the exponential stability by addition of gyroscopic forces.  相似文献

This paper discusses the stability of quasi-static paths for a continuous elastic-plastic system with hardening in a one-dimensional (bar) domain. Mathematical formulations, as well as existence and uniqueness results for dynamic and quasi-static problems involving elastic-plastic systems with linear kinematic hardening are recalled in the paper. The concept of stability of quasi-static paths used here is essentially a continuity property of the system dynamic solutions relatively to the quasi-static ones, when (as in Lyapunov stability) the size of initial perturbations is decreased and the rate of application of the forces (which plays the role of the small parameter in singular perturbation problems) is also decreased to 0. The stability of the quasi-static paths of these elastic-plastic systems is the main result proved in the paper.  相似文献

The results of the presented work are due to the study of the applied problem of the rigid body motion in a resisting medium; see [210, 211], where complete lists of transcendental first integrals expressed through a finite combination of elementary functions were obtained. This circumstance allowed the author to perform a complete analysis of all phase trajectories and highlight those properties of them which exhibit the roughness and preserve for systems of a more general form. The complete integrability of those systems is related to symmetries of a latent type. Therefore, it is of interest to study sufficiently wide classes of dynamical systems having analogous latent symmetries. As is known, the concept of integrability is sufficiently broad and undeterminate in general. In its construction, it is necessary to take into account in what sense it is understood (it is meant that a certain criterion according to which one makes a conclusion that the structure of trajectories of the dynamical system considered is especially “attractive and simple”), in which function classes the first integrals are sought for, etc. (see also [1, 4, 14, 17, 2022, 35, 4042, 47, 8385, 117, 120]).  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Das Stabilitätsproblem eines Voigt-Kelvin-Körpers, welcher nichtkonservativen und gyroskopischen Kräften unterworfen ist, wird — ähnlich der bekannten klassischen Methode — als Variationsaufgabe formuliert. Zwei Variationsprinzipien, basierend auf beschränkten zulässigen Verschiebungen, werden aufgestellt und in einem Näherungsverfahren verwendet, das als Verallgemeinerung des vielverwendeten Ritzschen Verfahrens als konservatives Problem gelten kann. The stability of dissipative systems with circulatory forces is revisited. It is found that a general statement recently made by J. Teichmann [6] is erroneous and the validity of a Thompson-Tait-like statement can be derived for less severe conditions (semi-autonomous systems) than those of P. C. Müller [5].
Zusammenfassung Die Stabilität eines dissipativen Systems mit zirkulatorischen Kräften wurde unterscht. Es stellt sich heraus, dass eine allgemeine Aussage von J. Teichmann [6] falsch ist, und dass die Gültigkeit einer Stabilitätsaussage in der Art von Thompson-Tait für eine weniger streng (halbautonome Systeme) Bedingung als in P. C. Müller [5] abgeleitet werden kann.

Linear integer-order circuits are a narrow subset of rational-order circuits which are in turn a subset of fractional-order. Here, we study the stability of circuits having one fractional element, two fractional elements of the same order or two fractional elements of different order. A general procedure for studying the stability of a system with many fractional elements is also given. It is worth noting that a fractional element is one whose impedance in the complex frequency s-domain is proportional to sα and α is a positive or negative fractional-order. In this activity the qualitative analysis of spatial problems of the real rigid body motions in a resistant medium is fulfilled. A nonlinear model that describes the interaction of a rigid body with a medium and takes into account (based on experimental data on the motion of circular cylinders in water) the dependence of the arm of the force on the normalized angular velocity of the body and the dependence of the moment of the force on the angle of attack is constructed. An analysis of plane and spatial models (in the presence or absence of an additional tracking force) leads to sufficient stability conditions for translational motion, as one of the key types of motions.
