In this paper,a residual type of a posteriori error estimator for the general second order elliptic eigenpair approximation by the mixed finite element method is derived and analyzed, based on a type of superconvergence result of the eigenfunction approximation. Its efficiency and reliability are proved by both theoretical analysis and numerical experiments.  相似文献

An a posteriori error estimator is obtained for a nonconforming finite element approximation of a linear elliptic problem, which is derived from a corresponding unbounded domain problem by applying a nonlocal approximate artificial boundary condition. Our method can be easily extended to obtain a class of a posteriori error estimators for various conforming and nonconforming finite element approximations of problems with different artificial boundary conditions. The reliability and efficiency of our a posteriori error estimator are rigorously proved and are verified by numerical examples.  相似文献

In this paper, we study adaptive finite element discretization schemes for an optimal control problem governed by elliptic PDE with an integral constraint for the state. We derive the equivalent a posteriori error estimator for the finite element approximation, which particularly suits adaptive multi-meshes to capture different singularities of the control and the state. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the efficiency of a posteriori error estimator and to confirm the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a posteriori error estimator for the nonconforming finite element approximation, including using Crouzeix–Raviart element and extended Crouzeix–Raviart element, of the Stokes eigenvalue problem. With the technique of Helmholtz decomposition, we first give out a posteriori error estimator and prove it as the global upper bound and local lower bound of the approximation error. Then, by deleting a jump term in the indicator, another simpler but equivalent indicator is obtained. Some numerical experiments are provided to verify our analysis.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss the a posteriori error estimate of the finite element approximation for the boundary control problems governed by the parabolic partial differential equations. Three different a posteriori error estimators are provided for the parabolic boundary control problems with the observations of the distributed state, the boundary state and the final state. It is proven that these estimators are reliable bounds of the finite element approximation errors, which can be used as the indicators of the mesh refinement in adaptive finite element methods.  相似文献

This paper proposes a reliable and efficient a posteriori error estimator for the finite element methods for the beam problem. It is proved that the error can be bounded by the computable error estimator from above and below up to multiplicative constants that do neither depend on the meshsize nor on the thickness of the beam.  相似文献

Superconvergence and recovery type a posteriori error estimators are analyzed for Pian and Sumihara's 4-node hybrid stress quadrilateral finite element method for linear elasticity problems. Superconvergence of order O(h~(1+min){α,1}) is established for both the displacement approximation in H~1-norm and the stress approximation in L~2-norm under a mesh assumption, where α 0 is a parameter characterizing the distortion of meshes from parallelograms to quadrilaterals. Recovery type approximations for the displacement gradients and the stress tensor are constructed, and a posteriori error estimators based on the recovered quantities are shown to be asymptotically exact. Numerical experiments confirm the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper, HFEM is proposed to investigate the circular arch problem. Optimal error estimates are derived, some superconvergence results are established, and an asymptotic exactness posteriori error estimator is presented. In contrast with the classical displacement variational method, the optimal convergence rate for displacement is uniform to the small parameter. In contrast with classical mixed finite element methods, our results are free of the strict restriction on h(the mesh size) which is preserved by all the previous papers. Furtheremore we introduce an asymptotic exactness posteriori error estimator based on a global superconvergence result which is discovered in this kind of problem for the first time.  相似文献

In rids paper a mixed finite element method for the convection-dominated diffusion problems with small parameter ε is presented, the effect of the parameter ε on the approximation error is considered and a sufficient condition for optimal error estimates is derived. The paper also shows that under some conditions, the standard finite dement method only gives a hounded solution, however the mixed finite element method gives a convergent one.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the finite element approximation of the distributed optimal control problems of the stationary Benard type under the pointwise control constraint. The states and the co-states are approximated by polynomial functions of lowest-order mixed finite element space or piecewise linear functions and the control is approximated by piecewise constant functions. We give the superconvergence analysis for the control; it is proved that the approximation has a second-order rate of convergence. We further give the superconvergence analysis for the states and the co-states. Then we derive error estimates in L^∞-norm and optimal error estimates in L^2-norm.  相似文献

This paper discusses conforming mixed finite element approximations for the Stokes eigenvalue problem. Firstly, several mixed finite element identities are proved. Based on these identities, the following new results are given: (1) It is proved that the numerical eigenvalues obtained by mini-element, P1-P1 element and Q1-Q1 element approximate the exact eigenvalues from above. (2) As for the P1-P1 , Q1-Q1 and Q1-P0 element eigenvalues, the asymptotically exact a posteriori error indicators are presented. (3) The reliable and efficient a posteriori error estimator proposed by Verfürth is applied to mini-element eigenfunctions. Finally, numerical experiments are carried out to verify the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

Asymptotic error expansions in H^1-norm for the bilinear finite element approximation to a class of optimal control problems are derived for rectangular meshes. With the rectan- gular meshes, the Richardson extrapolation of two different schemes and an interpolation defect correction can be applied. The higher order numerical approximations are used to generate a posteriori error estimators for the finite element approximation.  相似文献

A new technique of residual-type a posteriori error analysis is developed for the lowest- order Raviart-Thomas mixed finite element discretizations of convection-diffusion-reaction equations in two- or three-dimension. Both centered mixed scheme and upwind-weighted mixed scheme are considered. The a posteriori error estimators, derived for the stress variable error plus scalar displacement error in L_2-norm, can be directly computed with the solutions of the mixed schemes without any additional cost, and are proven to be reliable. Local efficiency dependent on local variations in coefficients is obtained without any saturation assumption, and holds from the cases where convection or reaction is not present to convection- or reaction-dominated problems. The main tools of the analysis are the postprocessed approximation of scalar displacement, abstract error estimates, and the property of modified Oswald interpolation. Numerical experiments are carried out to support our theoretical results and to show the competitive behavior of the proposed posteriori error estimates.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate a priori error estimates and superconvergence properties for a model optimal control problem of bilinear type, which includes some parameter estimation application. The state and co-state are discretized by piecewise linear functions and control is approximated by piecewise constant functions. We derive a priori error estimates and superconvergence analysis for both the control and the state approximations. We also give the optimal L^2-norm error estimates and the almost optimal L^∞-norm estimates about the state and co-state. The results can be readily used for constructing a posteriori error estimators in adaptive finite element approximation of such optimal control problems.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the nonconforming finite element approximations of fourth order elliptic perturbation problems in two dimensions. We present an a posteriori error estimator under certain conditions, and give an h-version adaptive algorithm based on the error estimation. The local behavior of the estimator is analyzed as well. This estimator works for several nonconforming methods, such as the modified Morley method and the modified Zienkiewicz method, and under some assumptions, it is an optimal one. Numerical examples are reported, with a linear stationary Cahn-HiUiard-type equation as a model problem.  相似文献

In this work we consider the Reduced Basis method for the solution of parametrized advection-reaction partial differential equations. For the generation of the basis we adopt a stabilized finite element method and we define the Reduced Basis method in the "primal- dual" formulation for this stabilized problem. We provide a priori Reduced Basis error estimates and we discuss the effects of the finite element approximation on the Reduced Basis error. We propose an adaptive algorithm, based on the a posteriori Reduced Basis error estimate, for the selection of the sample sets upon which the basis are built; the idea leading this algorithm is the minimization of the computational costs associated with the solution of the Reduced Basis problem. Numerical tests demonstrate the efficiency, in terms of computational costs, of the "primal-dual" Reduced Basis approach with respect to an "only primal" one. For the Poisson equation with Robin boundary conditions,by using a few techniques such as orthogonal expansion(M-type),separation of the main part and the finite element projection,we prove for the first time that the asymptotic error expansions of bilinear finite element have the accuracy of O(h3)for u∈H3.Based on the obtained asymptotic error expansions for linear finite elements, extrapolation cascadic multigrid method(EXCMG)can be used to solve Robin problems effectively.Furthermore,by virtue of Richardson not only the accuracy of the approximation is improved, but also a posteriori error estimation is obtained. Finally, some numerical experiments that confirm the theoretical analysis are presented.  相似文献

Optimal convergence rates of adaptive finite element methods are well understood in terms of the axioms of adaptivity. One key ingredient is the discrete reliability of a residualbased a posteriori error estimator, which controls the error of two discrete finite element solutions based on two nested triangulations. In the error analysis of nonconforming finite element methods, like the Crouzeix-Raviart or Morley finite element schemes, the difference of the piecewise derivatives of discontinuous approximations to the distributional gradients of global Sobolev functions plays a dominant role and is the object of this paper. The nonconforming interpolation operator, which comes natural with the definition of the aforementioned nonconforming finite element in the sense of Ciarlet, allows for stability and approximation properties that enable direct proofs of the reliability for the residual that monitors the equilibrium condition. The novel approach of this paper is the suggestion of a right-inverse of this interpolation operator in conforming piecewise polynomials to design a nonconforming approximation of a given coarse-grid approximation on a refined triangulation. The results of this paper allow for simple proofs of the discrete reliability in any space dimension and multiply connected domains on general shape-regular triangulations beyond newest-vertex bisection of simplices.Particular attention is on optimal constants in some standard discrete estimates listed in the appendices.  相似文献

This paper develops a posteriori error estimates of residual type for conforming and mixed finite element approximations of the fourth order Cahn-Hilliard equation ut + △(ε△Au-ε^-1f(u)) = 0. It is shown that the a posteriori error bounds depends on ε^-1 only in some low polynomial order, instead of exponential order. Using these a posteriori error estimates, we construct at2 adaptive algorithm for computing the solution of the Cahn- Hilliard equation and its sharp interface limit, the Hele-Shaw flow. Numerical experiments are presented to show the robustness and effectiveness of the new error estimators and the proposed adaptive algorithm.  相似文献
