Polycrystalline GdAl3(BO3)4 phosphors codoped with Yb3+/Tb3+ and/or Nd3+/Yb3+/Tb3+ have been synthesized by combustion method. Upon excitation with a 980 nm laser diode, an intense green upconversion luminescence has been observed in GdAl3(BO3)4:Yb,Tb phosphor. The quadratic dependence of the luminescence on the pump-laser power indicating a cooperative energy transfer process. Meanwhile, it is noticed that upon excitation with 808 nm laser diode, intense luminescence has clearly been detected in GdAl3(BO3)4:Nd,Yb,Tb phosphor. The luminescence intensity exhibits also a quadratic dependence on incident pump-laser power. However, no green-emission has been observed in GdAl3(BO3)4 phosphors codoped with Yb3+/Tb3+ or Nd3+/Tb3+ respectively upon excited at 808 nm laser diode. A proposed upconversion mechanism involving energy transfer from Nd3+ to Yb3+, and then a cooperative energy transfer process from two excited Yb3+ to Tb3+ has been presented.  相似文献

Thanks to diode pumping through an optical bifurcated fiber, we take benefit of the birefringence of the Yb3+-doped GdAl3(BO3)4 crystal to get two-polarization and two-wavelength laser operation both in CW and in passive Q-switch regimes. Typical differential slopes are 54% and 30% respectively for the o- and e-waves. In the pulse regime the two o- and e-pulses are synchronous but not simultaneous. Free running laser emissions near 1040 and 1046 nm for the e- and o-waves respectively were obtained with 2.5 nm FWHM.  相似文献

From two positions of the concave output mirror of the laser cavity, diode-pumped ordinary or extraordinary polarization lasing of an Yb3+-doped GdAl3(BO3)4 nonlinear birefringent crystal is obtained. Translating the mirror at an intermediate position, simultaneous ordinary and extraordinary polarization lasing at 1046 (2.5 nm FWHM) and 1040 nm (2.2 nm FWHM), respectively, is obtained with up to 53% slope efficiency. Using a YAG:Cr4+ saturable absorber for passive Q-switching the cavity, ordinary and extraordinary pulses are obtained with an energy as high as 236 μJ and with about 30 ns duration. The two pulses of orthogonal polarizations can be separated by up to a few hundred ns, depending on the experimental conditions. The simultaneity of the pulses is observed but is difficult to maintain. A model constituted by two coupled equations reproduces reasonably well the experimental data. We report power scaling of the Yb3+:LaSc3(BO3)4 (Yb:LSB) laser material in thin disk configuration. Employing a 300-μm thick Yb(25 at. %):LSB crystal, the continuous-wave output power around 1.0 μm wavelength reaches 40 W for 95 W of pump power at 974 nm; the overall optical-to-optical efficiency and the slope efficiency are 0.43 and 0.48, respectively. New green self-frequency-doubling diode-pumped Nd:Ca4GdO(BO3)3 laser   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
3+ :Ca4GdO(BO3)3 (Nd:GdCOB). 21 mW of green cw laser emission for an absorbed pump power of 820 mW were achieved under laser diode-pumping. 64 mW of green cw laser output were obtained with 1 W of absorbed pump power under titanium-sapphire pumping. Its availability in large-size crystals with good optical quality makes Nd:GdCOB a true challenger to the best SFD laser crystal reported so far: Nd:YAl3(BO3)4 (Nd:YAB or NYAB). We report a red laser at 672 nm generation by intracavity frequency doubling of a continuous wave (CW) laser operation of a 1343 nm Nd:LuVO4 laser under in-band diode pumping at 888 nm. An GdCa4O(BO3)3 (GdCOB) crystal, cut for critical type I phase matching at room temperature is used for second harmonic generation of the laser. At an incident pump power of 17.8 W, as high as 1.73 W of CW output power at 672 nm is achieved. The optical-to-optical conversion efficiency is up to 9.7%, and the fluctuation of the red output power was better than 3.3% in the given 30 min.  相似文献

The nonlinear optical single-crystals GdAl3(BO3)4 (GAB), space group R32, were grown by the top-seed solution growth (TSSG) method. The thermal properties and the nonlinear optical characteristics have been investigated. The two principal coefficients of thermal expansion along (100) and (001) were measured to be 5.30 × 10−6, 1.88 × 10−5 K−1. The transmission spectrum was measured and the second-harmonic generation (SHG) was presented. By way of our designed cross superimposed laser crystal multiplier, the frequency doubling laser at wavelength 457.5 nm was measured to be 18.2 mW and the facular properties indicated the multiplier contributed to the improvement of the frequency doubling conversion efficiency.  相似文献

Raman spectra of light are obtained for HoFe3(BO3)4 and HoAl3(BO3)4 crystals at various temperatures and are used for determining the frequencies of crystal lattice vibrations at the center of the Brillouin zone. It is also found that the HoFe3(BO3)4 crystal exhibits a phase transition at T c ≈ 366 K. The magnetoelectric effect in the paramagnetic phase of these compounds is studied experimentally. The lattice vibration frequencies, elastic and piezoelectric moduli, Born dynamic charges, and the high-frequency permittivity are calculated using the density functional method. A peculiar behavior of the transverse acoustic vibration branch is observed in the Γ → Z direction of the Brillouin zone of the HoFe3(BO3)4 crystal. The electric polarization induced by an external field is estimated using the calculated values of piezoelectric moduli and experimental values of magnetostriction.  相似文献

A high-power diode -pumped Nd3+:YAl3(BO3)4 (Nd:YAB) laser emitting at 1338 nm is described. At the incident pump power of 9.8 W, as high as 734 mW of continuous-wave (CW) output power at 1338 nm is achieved. The slope efficiency with respect to the incident pump power was 9.0%. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of such a laser system. The output power stability over 60 min is better than 2.6%. The laser beam quality M 2 factor is 1.21.  相似文献

We report efficient, diode-pumped, self-frequency doubling (SFD) in the newly developed laser crystal Nd3+:Na3La9O3(BO3)8 (Nd:NLBO). More than 730?mW of fundamental output power at 1072?nm was achieved with a slope efficiency of 16.2%. With incident pump power of 8?W, 29?mW of green cw laser emission at 536?nm was observed with proper phase matching. This initial performance and the good optical properties of the crystalline host are encouraging for the development of a high power diode-pumped SFD visible light laser source.  相似文献

We report an efficient intracavity second-harmonic generation (SHG) at 1066 nm in a non-linear optical crystal, GdCa4O(BO3)3 (GdCOB), performed with a diode end pumped continuous-wave (CW) Nd:LuVO4 laser. In the case of a laser with a Nd:LuVO4 crystal frequency-doubled with a GdCOB crystal cut for type I frequency doubling. A CW SHG output power of 5.18 W has been obtained using a 10 mm long GCOB crystal. The optical conversion efficiency with respect to the incident pump power was 28.5%.  相似文献

At an incident pump power of 18.2 W, as high as 1.32 W of continuous wave (CW) output power at 670 nm is achieved with 15-mm-long GdCOB.  An intracavity frequency-doubled 10%Nd : LaSc3(BO3)4 (Nd : LSB) laser was investigated in different resonator configurations and in different operation modes under continuous wave (cw) and quasi-cw laser-diode pumping. With a Cr4+ : YAG passive modulator and a KTP crystal the second-harmonic output power at 531 nm amounted to 190 mW in Q-switched TEM00 mode at 750 mW of pump power. In a sandwich resonator, when all the optical elements were in direct contact with each other, 0.8 W of green output power was obtained in cw mode under 2.7 W of pump power with a slope efficiency of 44%. In the same setup under fiber-coupled diode-laser array pumping (5.6 W of incident power), 1.2 W of green output power was achieved in cw mode and 1.4 W in quasi-cw mode. We present the performances of a diode-pumped solid-state laser operating in the visible by self-frequency-doubling. A cw output power of 115 mW at 545 nm has been obtained in a stable concave–concave cavity by using a crystal of Nd:GdCa4O(BO3)3 pumped by a 2 W high-brightness laser diode. In a plano–plano cavity, similar to a microchip laser, we have obtained, for the first time to our knowledge, an output power of 22 mW in the green.  相似文献

The optical transmission (OT) spectra of Yb:LaSc3(BO3)4 and Yb:LuYSiO5 laser crystals have been analyzed before and after irradiation from a 60Co source with doses up to 45 Mrad. The OT spectra of the Yb:LuYSiO5 crystal are found to be the same (within the measurement error) before and after irradiation. The irradiation of the 10 at.%Yb:LaSc3(BO3)4 crystal significantly changes its OT spectra in a wide spectral range (330 to 700 nm). A 975-nm laser based on a previously irradiated 4 at.%Yb:LuYSiO5 crystal has exhibited a differential efficiency of 23% under diode pumping. The up-conversion luminescence spectra in the visible range of the crystals under study have been explained.  相似文献

Yb:Ca4YO(BO3)3 (Yb:YCOB) crystal with good quality and large size has been grown by the Czochralski method. The polarization absorption and fluorescence spectra have been measured. The laser action of the Yb:YCOB crystal has been demonstrated when it is pumped by a fiber-coupled laser diode (LD) at the wavelength of 976.4 nm. The pumping threshold is 55 mW, the light-light conversion efficiency is 58.7%, and a slope efficiency of up to 73% is thus calculated. Comparative investigation of the optical amplification properties of dysprosium doped Gd2SiO5, Lu2SiO5 and YAl3(BO3)4 single crystals was performed in a pump-and-probe experiment. High power laser pulses at 475 nm were used as the pump source in order to strongly populate the 4F9/2 level of the Dy3+ ions due to ground state absorption. Low signal beam cw radiation at 574 nm was used as the probe beam to stimulate the emission associated with the 4F9/26H13/2 electronic transition of the Dy3+ ions. The process was modelled as a three levels system, and their populations were analysed and simulated in order to study the gain dynamics. Positive optical gain was observed and compared in these crystals. These results confirmed that among the systems studied the Dy3+-doped YAl3(BO3)4 single crystal can be considered as a good candidate to develop an optical amplifier employing the 4F9/26H13/2 transition at around 574 nm which is the first step to consider as laser active media.  相似文献
