The operation of a CuBr and PbBr2 laser with a two-section gas-discharge tube with working media in different sections and an additional electrode between the sections was studied for the first time. Effective lasing was achieved in both media under control of time location of lasing pulses in different active media. The total mean lasing power equal to 1.5 W was distributed over wavelengths as follows: 1 W (510.6 nm), 0.3 W (578.2 nm), and 0.2 W (722.9 nm). The specific features of operation of the multicomponent laser and methods for its optimization are discussed. It is shown that the lasing power in a section is close to the power of an individual active element.  相似文献

Investigations on the life-time of a whole-heated sealed-off CuBr laser are reported. Keeping the bromine concentration low enough not less than 500 h of laser operation is already realizable. The decrease of laser power is due mainly to output windows pollution.  相似文献

A novel method for the pulse shortening of the 578 nm spectral line from a CuBr laser is proposed in this paper. By amplifying a seeded picosecond dye laser through the active medium of a CuBr laser, nearly Fourier-transform-limited picosecond pulses of the CuBr laser have been obtained and the output characteristics are also investigated in detail.  相似文献

Through the use of a PFL (pulse-forming line) of conveniently changeable output impedance ZO, the electrical characteristics of a small volume-discharge of standard XeCl laser gas mix was studied. The impedance ZD from a 2×0.5×1(=1) cm3 discharge was found to be about 10. A PFL of very low impedance is therefore rather inefficient in driving the discharge, because of the impedance mismatch and the slower current rise time. The data presented will be useful for the design of excimer lasers of small discharge volume, which find applications in serving as master oscillator or in high repetition rate operation.  相似文献

The atomic density, the buffer gas pressure, and the voltage dependence of the 510.6 nm laser line shape and its temporal evolution emitted from a Cu/CuBr vapor laser are measured. It is found that the monochromaticity of these laser lines can be improved greatly at a relative high buffer gas pressure. The temporal evolution of the line shape offers a stereoscopic view of a laser pulse. The sequence of appearance of the peaks of the line shape is governed by the intensity of the hyperfine component of the copper line.  相似文献

Judd–Ofelt parameters (Ω2 = 5.09∙10–20, Ω4 = 0.92∙10–20, and Ω6 = 0.63∙10–20 cm2) and oscillator strengths of fundamental optical transitions involved in lasing at wavelength 1.54 μm have been calculated for borosilicophosphate glass co-activated with Er3+ and Tb3+ ions based on experimental luminescence and absorption spectra and refractive indices. The results were used to determine the emission (6∙10–23 cm2) and absorption (5∙10–21 cm2) cross sections for λ = 1.54 μm and the gain cross section as a function of inverse population levels.  相似文献

Spatial confinement of laser light in active random media   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We have observed spatial confinement of laser light in micrometer-sized random media. The optical confinement is attributed to the disorder-induced scattering and interference. Our experimental data suggest that coherent amplification of the scattered light enhances the interference effect and helps the spatial confinement. Using the finite-difference time-domain method, we simulate lasing with coherent feedback in the active random medium.  相似文献

A novel electrical circuit for CuBr laser excitation which consists of two interacting capacitive circuits is reported for the first time. An output power of 19 W with an efficiency of 1.6% was obtained. Some features of the laser operation, such as the voltage of the electrodes, the current pulse and the laser pulse, are given.  相似文献

An innovation in CuBr laser excitation causes a significant increase of the output power and laser efficiency. The novel electrical circuitry consists of two interacting peaking circuits. A comparison of the operation parameters between an ordinary-circuitry (OC) excited CuBr laser and the novel-circuitry (interacting peaking circuits, IPC) excited CuBr laser is made. An efficiency of 1.45% at 17.4 W average output of the IPC CuBr laser is obtained.  相似文献

With the use of kinetic models for a photodissociation iodine laser the calculation of the effective rate constants for chemical reactions in a gaseous active mixture is carried out in the case of a strong influence of molecular collisions. The analysis uses a detailed reaction scheme and Lindemann's collisional mechanism. 综合考虑能级精细结构和同位素分裂等因素,计算了铜原子511nm和578nm自发跃迁谱线的光谱结构.设计制作了可周期更换缓冲气体封闭运转的CuBr激光器,测量了低气压下以氖气为缓冲气体的CuBr激光器的511nm和578nm激光谱线在不同工作温度和激励电压时的光谱结构.结果表明铜原子511nm和578nm谱线的自发辐射光谱和激光光谱具有类似的多峰结构,但578nm激光光谱线形与工作温度和激励电压密切相关,对实验结果做了定性分析.  相似文献

A new approach for improving the efficiency of a copper bromide vapour laser with wavelengths of 510.6 and 578.2 nm is implemented. Multi-factor and regression analyses of a large amount of experimental data have outlined the parameters with highest impact on the laser efficiency. They are electric input power, inside diameter of the rings, distance between the electrodes, inside diameter of the laser tube, hydrogen pressure and electric input power per unit length.The results obtained allow discovery of the internal structure of dependences among parameters, to better account for the physical processes that influence efficiency, to improve the planning of further experiments and laser production technology.  相似文献

为了使有广泛应用的CuBr激光器能稳定和高效运行,针对实验中出现的激光输出功率随放电频率起伏的情况,给出CuBr激光放电管内声波振动的数学模型。该模型选取圆柱形放电管轴为柱坐标轴对波动方程求解,通过数值计算,获得了放电管内声压分布的解析表达式。通过分析放电频率与激光管固有声振动频率的关系,明确了声共振会导致激光介质重新分布,它对激光输出功率有影响,理论计算结果和实验结果完全符合。  相似文献

Experiments on the lifetime of a CuBr laser with flowing neon as a buffer gas are reported. The CuBr laser with a discharge tube of inner diameter 18 mm, electrode separation 465 mm at an average output power of 3 W, an efficiency of 0.4% for a lifetime of 734 h is obtained. In consideration of the flow of the buffer gas and combined structure of the discharge tube we have achieved prolongation of the laser lifetime.  相似文献
