A systematic series of η5-monocyclopentadienyliron(II) complexes with substituted oligo-thiophene nitrile ligands of general formula [FeCp(P_P)(NC{SC4H2}nNO2)][PF6] (P_P = dppe, (+)-diop; n = 1-3) has been synthesized and characterized. The electrochemical behaviour of the new compounds was explored by cyclic voltammetry. Quadratic hyperpolarizabilities (β) of the complexes with dppe coligands have been determined by hyper-Rayleigh scattering (HRS) measurements at two fundamental wavelengths of 1.064 and 1.550 μm, to uncover the two-photon resonance effect and to estimate static β values. The obtained overall results are found to be better than for the related η5-monocyclopentadienyliron(II) complexes with p-benzonitrile derivatives. Although an increase of the resonant β at 1.064 μm with increasing number of thiophene units in the conjugated ligand was found (up to 910 × 10−30 esu), the static values β0 remain practically unchanged, as shown by the 1.550 μm measurements. Combined with the electrochemical and spectroscopic data (IR, NMR, UV-vis), this remarkable evolution of β shows that the increase of conjugation length is balanced by a decrease in charge-transfer efficiency.  相似文献

The preparation of the chloro complex trans-[FeCl2{(R,R)-diph}2] (1) and the alkynyl complexes trans-[M(4-CCC6H4R)Cl{(R,R)-diph}2] [M=Fe, R=NO2 (2); M=Ru, R=H (4), NO2 (5), (E)-CH=CH-4-C6H4NO2 (6); M=Os, R=NO2 (7)], incorporating the optically active diphosphine 1,2-bis(methylphenylphosphino)benzene (diph), are described. Oxidation potentials, as determined by cyclic voltammetry, increase as 2<7<5. Molecular quadratic nonlinearities by hyper-Rayleigh scattering at 1064 nm increase upon introduction of an acceptor group (4<5), chain-lengthening of bridging group (5<6), and proceeding from 3d to 4d and 5d metal (257). Two-level-corrected nonlinearities reproduce the first two trends, but metal variation follows the sequence 2<7<5. The experimental and two-level-corrected nonlinearities for 6 (2795×10−30 and 406×10−30 esu, respectively), are amongst the largest observed thus far for organometallic complexes. Crystals of complexes 2 and 7 exhibit second-harmonic generation (assessed using the Kurtz powder technique), with an efficiency for the former of twice that of urea.  相似文献

This paper presents calculations of dipole moments (mu), static polarizabilities (alpha), and first hyperpolarizabilities (beta) of phosphonic acid stilbene derivatives calculated in the framework of density functional theory. These calculations were performed using a finite field approach implemented in the density functional program ALLCHEM and were of an all-electron type using local exchange-correlation functional and specially designed basis sets. The molecular structures have been fully optimized using the semiempirical program MSINDO. Some of the investigated stilbenes have been synthesized very recently while others are described for the first time. Donor and acceptor groups of these analogues have been modified and the influence of these changes on the first hyperpolarizabilities has been investigated. This work demonstrates that the nonlinear optical response beta of these compounds increases dramatically when the acceptor moiety is displaced by analogues containing alkali metal groups. A general mechanism for the design of novel nonlinear optical materials with large first hyperpolarizabilities is described.  相似文献

近年来实验发现,通过化学键调整分子间空间取向可以提高其非线性光学(NLO)响应系数。本文以对硝基苯酚分子为单体,利用化学键将两个单体连接得到一系列二聚体分子,用量子化学方法计算了它们的分子一阶超极化率(β)。研究表明,二聚体分子的β值与单体间距离和连接方式有关,在一定距离时出现极大值;而且,此类分子的β值具有显著的溶剂效应,但与单体间距离的依赖关系和气相中相同。由此可见,通过化学键改变单体间距离和连接方式可以作为提高有机分子NLO响应系数的有效途径。  相似文献

从酸的电子给体HO-C6H4-CHCH-C6H4-NO2(OSN)可以向碱的电子受体Me2N-C6H4-CHCH-C5H4N(DAMS)发生质子转移,质子转移后形成的相应离子与其中性分子相比,光学非线性增强.采用ZINDO-SOS,FF/PM3及CPHF/PM3三种方法对其进行了系统的理论研究.三种方法研究结果均表明,质子转移后所产生的离子和相应的中性分子相比,其第一超极化率β和第二超极化率γ-都显著增强.  相似文献

The structure–polarization relationship was investigated in a series of polysulfanes, H2Sn. The reported results demonstrate that the forms of change of the polarizability components, αii, and the second hyperpolarizability components, γiiii, as well as the average values α and γ, respectively, of H2Sn with n are similar. This shows that polarizability components can be easily used to determine corresponding hyperpolarizability data. A remarkable change of the hyperpolarizabilities with the molecular geometry of H2Sn was found. This result can be used for the design of nonlinear optical materials with optimum properties. The present study uses the flexible σ bonded H2Sn and is complementary to the works that considered the effect of conformational changes of π-conjugated systems on their hyperpolarizabities. The present computations were performed using the semiempirical approaches MNDO and MNDO/d, as well as ab initio methods with STO-3G, extended with polarization and diffuse functions, and [3s2p/7s5p2d] sets for H2Sn. At the ab initio level, the electronic and the vibrational contributions to polarizabilities and hyperpolarizabilities were both computed for several members of H2Sn. The frequency dependence of the above contributions and the static limit were discussed. Electron correlation was taken into account for several test cases using MP2 theory. The selected methods and the variety of the approximations on which they rely allow the systematic consideration of the effect of changes of the geometry of H2Sn on their polarizabilities and second hyperpolarizabilities. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The static electric dipole polarizabilities and second‐order hyperpolarizabilities of several bare boron clusters have been calculated with density functional theory. The average second‐order hyperpolarizability γav reaches a saturation limit of about 50,000 a.u. already with B5 for a given type of structure. The average polarizability per atom shows overall a decrease with increasing cluster size, while the average second hyperpolarizability per atom first increases from B3 to B6, and then starts to decrease. DFT method can severely overestimate the response properties for π‐conjugation systems. The range‐separated exchange and recently developed optimal IP‐tuning process are evaluated on the prediction of static second hyperpolarizabilities of streptocyanines of increasing molecular length. The finite field results have shown that the exact exchange at midium and long distance can relieve only a part of the overshooting but still beyond satisfaction. The exact exchange at short distance has the oppsite effects showing the failure of converntional hGGA. The optimal tuned range‐separated exchange functionals show little improvements performing worse than the default ones. Importantly, the electronic structure–property relationship, bond order alternation‐γ , is not well established with DFT method. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Hatree–Fock calculations at ab initio and semiempirical levels were carried out for the averaged polarizability α and second hyperpolarizability γ of two pairs of quadrupolar isomers with different donor and acceptor groups. These properties were correlated with the antibonding/bonding π occupation number (π*/π ratio). It was found that isomers with extended π systems had low π*/π ratios and high α and γ values, while low α and γ values were obtained for isomers with large π*/π ratios and no extended π system. The PM3 and PM6 α values were found to be in excellent agreement with the HF/6-31+G(d,p) ones. The PM3 values for γ were significantly larger than those calculated by HF/6-31+G(d,p), with an average PM3/HF ratio of 1.43. The PM6 results were noticeably better with a ratio of 0.85. The calculation of α and γ at MP2/6-31+G(d,p) level for representative isomers showed that the contribution of the electron correlation to their values was small and that the HF/6-31+G(d,p) method provides reliable values at much lower computational cost.  相似文献

The complexes [Fe{η-C5H4---(E)---CH=CH---4-C6H4CCX}2] [X=SiMe3 (1), H (2), Au(PCy3) (3), Au(PPh3) (4), Au(PMe3) (5), RuCl(dppm)2 (7), RuCl(dppe)2 (8)] and [Fe{η-C5H4---(E)---CH=CH---4-C6H4CH=CRuCl(dppm)2}2](PF6)2 (6) have been prepared and the identities of 1 and 7 confirmed by single-crystal X-ray structural studies. Complexes 1–8 exhibit reversible oxidation waves in their cyclic voltammograms attributed to the FeII/III couple of the ferrocenyl groups, 6–8 also showing reversible (7, 8) or non-reversible (6) processes attributed to Ru-centered oxidation. Cubic nonlinearities at 800 nm by the Z-scan method are low for 1–5; in contrast, complexes 6 and 7 exhibit large negative γreal and large γimag values. A factor of 4 difference in γ and two-photon absorption cross-section σ2 values for 6 and 7 suggest that they have potential as protically switchable NLO materials.  相似文献

The interaction between a dinucleotide triphosphate duplex (DD), mimicking the DNA molecule, and the dimethyltin(IV) cation is studied by the semiempirical PM3 method. The results show that the interaction can occur involving the tin atom and the electron-donor centres of DD, requiring in some cases the presence of water molecules. In particular, the binding of the dimethyltin(IV) moiety with two adjacent phosphate oxygen atoms is allowed by the presence of water molecules coordinating to the tin atom. In this case the tin environment shows a geometry in agreement with 119Sn Mössbauer and X-ray data.  相似文献

The polarizability (α) and the second hyperpolarizability (γ) of tetrakis(phenylethynyl)ethene (TPEE) are compared and analyzed in connection with the properties (α, γ) of a series of selected/designed molecules having different conjugation patterns. Several lithiated derivatives of TPEE are designed and shown to have very enhanced second hyperpolarizabilities; for example, one of the lithiated TPEE has a 1.6×103 times larger second hyperpolarizability than that of benzene. The potential of the proposed derivatives for applications in photonics is noted. The polarizabilities and the hyperpolarizabilities of the considered molecules have been computed employing the PM3 method which has been proven to be adequate for the present comparative study. ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Ellipticine [5,11-dimethyl-6H-pyrido[4,3]carbazole] is a planar organic compound isolated from the plant extract of Ochrosia elliptica, with a high degree of antitumor and cytotoxic activity. Ellipticine and its derivatives have different modes of action, which may include intercalation or covalent binding to DNA and interference with the activity of topoisomerase II. In the present work we studied the electronic, geometrical and spectroscopic properties of 31 ellipticine derivatives and analogue compounds, using the semiempirical methods Parametric Method 3 and Zerner's Intermediate Neglect of Differential Overlap. The Zero Differential Overlap semiempirical Molecular Electrostatic Potential (MEP) was also calculated in order to interpret the electronic structure of the molecules. For the biologically tested ellipticines and olivacines we have observed a rule based on the dipole moment values and a selective distribution of active sites (coming from the MEP calculations) that can be used to identify the active molecules. These results provide a pattern which can be used to select potentially active molecules from the untested group of molecules and to design new ellipticine derivatives with improved antitumor activity.  相似文献

The synthesis of three novel nonlinear optical (NLO) chromophores with threefold symmetry, namely 1,3,5-tris(4-N,N-diethylaminophenyl)-2,4,6-tris(4-nitrophenyl)benzene (3), 1,3,5-tris(4-N,N-dihexylaminophenylbutadiynyl)-2,4,6-tris(4-nitrophenyl)benzene (13) and 1,3,5-tris(4-N,N-dihexylaminophenylethynyl)-2,4,6-tris(4-nitrophenylethynyl)benzene (4 b), is reported. We used the [Co(2)(CO)(8)]-catalysed trimerisation of 4-N,N-diethylamino-4'-nitrotolane (5) to prepare 3. The trimerisation experiment carried out with 1-(4-N,N-diethylaminophenyl)-6-(4-N,N-nitrophenyl)hexatriyne (6) and [Rh(PPh(3))(3)Cl] afforded 13. A stepwise approach was used to prepare 4 b. 1,3,5-Trichloro-2,4,6-triiodobenzene (8 b) was coupled with 4-nitrophenyl-acetylene (14) under Pd(0) catalysis to yield 1,3,5-trichloro-2,4,6-tris(4-nitrophenylethynyl)benzene (15). The coupling reaction of 15 with 4-N,N-dihexylaminophenylethynyltributylstannane (21) led to 4 b. X-ray investigations on 3, 4 b and 13 confirmed the structural assignments and revealed that the peripheral aryl rings in 4 b are less twisted around the connecting bonds than in 3 and 13. A large second-order polarisability (beta) of 4 b relative to 3 and 13 was determined by hyper-Rayleigh scattering (HRS). Compound 4 b represents an NLO chromophore with second-order polarisabily among the highest obtained so far for two-dimensional nondipolar NLO chromophores.  相似文献

Design and synthesis of new organic functional materials with improved performance or novel properties are of great importance in the field of optoelectronics. Azulene, as a non-alternant aromatic hydrocarbon, has attracted rising attention in the last few years. Different from most common aromatic hydrocarbons, azulene has unique characteristics, including large dipole moment, small gap between the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO). However, the design and synthesis of azulene-based functional materials are still facing several challenges. This review focuses on the recent development of organic functional materials employing azulene unit. The synthesis of various functionalized azulene derivatives is summarized and their applications in optoelectronics are discussed, with particular attention to the fields including nonlinear optics (NLO), organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), solar cells, and molecular devices.  相似文献

As a formulation for calculating the dynamic polarizabilities and hyperpolarizabilities, two different types of the time‐dependent Møller–Plesset perturbation theory (MPPT) are presented: the MPPT in the quasienergy derivative method (QED–MPPT) and the MPPT in the energylike derivative method (ELD–MPPT). The explicit expressions for the response properties in each of these MPPT up to the quadratic response [μ, α(−ω1, ω1), β(−ωσ, ω1, ω2)] at an arbitrary correlated order are given. A systematic semiempirical quantum mechanical study of the interactions between proteins and ligands has been performed to determine the ability of this approach for the accurate estimation of the enthalpic contribution to the binding free energy of the protein–ligand systems. This approach has been applied for eight test protein–ligand complexes with experimentally known binding enthalpies. The calculations were performed using the semiempirical PM3 approach incorporated in the MOPAC 97, ZAVA originally elaborated in Algodign, and MOPAC 2002 with MOZYME facility packages. Special attention was paid to take into account structural water molecules, which were located in the protein–ligand binding site. This study presents a set of the generalized parameters from a unique resource for the elements which are from the first-period to the fourth-period (H to Xe). In addition, these series of parameters are used to examine forty-five compounds consisting of the fourth-period elements and the second-period transition metal elements. Herein, the major calculation theory applied is the s-p-d INDO MO method. To verify the reliability of the molecular calculations, similar calculations of the STO-3G and STO-3G* ab inito methods, along with the semiempirical PM3 and AM1 methods are also compared. Results in this study demonstrate that the s-p-d INDO MO computed with the generalized parameter is the best available method.  相似文献

Quadrupolar-type substitution of pi-conjugated chromophores with donor and acceptor groups has been shown to increase their two-photon absorption (TPA) response by up to two orders of magnitude. Here, we apply highly correlated quantum-chemical calculations to evaluate the impact of the nature of conjugated bridge and the charge-transfer distance on that enhancement. We compare chromophores with phenylenevinylene-, thienylenevinylene-, polyene-, and indenofluorene-type backbones substituted by dimethylamino and cyano groups. In all compounds, we find a strongly TPA-active A(g) state (either 2A(g) or 3A(g)) in the low-energy region, as well as a higher lying TPA-active state (mA(g)) at close to twice the energy of the lowest lying one-photon allowed state; the smaller energy detuning in the mA(g) states results in very large TPA cross sections delta. We also investigate the influence of the degree of ground-state polarization on TPA. Independent of the nature of the backbone and the donor-acceptor separation, delta displays the same qualitative evolution with a maximum before the cyanine-like limit; the highest TPA cross sections are calculated for distirylbenzene- and polyene-based systems.  相似文献
